Great pub and beer at good prices.

An excellent spoons..very quick with food orders

Came here on Sunday the 20th October, we have been here many times without a problem however on this visit the barman took it into his head to create one. My son is 34 and has been coming in this pub for years and being served alcohol without a problem, however on this occasion the barman took it into his head to demand ID which my 34 year old son did not have with him at the time, it is worth noting that my son has not had to provide ID in any pub including wetherspoons to buy alcohol for well over 10 years so we took it as the barman having a bad night and wanting to pick on someone to show what a big man he is and decided we were it. While here we had two sirloin steak meals and my wife had fish, the meals we had were excellent and my sirloin steak in particular was up there with the very best, we would normally have stayed longer but having eaten our meals we left to find a more welcoming pub to spend a family evening at.

They do not have the standardised Wetherspoon menu.

This is in a great location right at top of town but like all spoons that I have been in the issue for me is the same lukewarm or cold breakfast there is no excuse for that these days .

Only went in for coffee but had food there before, really nice

For under GBP10, I enjoyed a small (though actually quite generous) fish'n'chips with garden peas and a side salad. At 1400 hours, the pub was extremely busy. I secured the last empty table. The waitress was pleasant and the food very good. A large soft dri nk was included. The hotel is very close to Skegness railway station.

I originally gave this place a 1 Star after it's refurbished the service and attitude with the Staff I thought was Shocking... After a revisit the Red Lion is booming and the Attitude of Staff is Great. 👍😃😃

Why would anybody put garlic on a perfectly good steak?It tasted disgusted

I only wanted a pint stud in a Q asked if this was for food went to bar only to be ignored as two bar staff we're only interested in food. Asked one of the bar staff if he could serve me said there's a Q, I said would it be better on to serve for food and one for beer again ignored told them it was a rubbish set up and left the building and went to the Lumley for the rest of the day. Deffently wouldn't recommend the Lion for hospitality and customer satisfaction.

Not the best spoons, you would think Skeg would have a massive one but the red lion isn't that big and was rammed. I guess if you go out of season it's probably quiet.

Absolutely appalling rude and aggressive attitude from the ' lady: manager of this hospitality outlet today when it was pointed out that she had overcharged on a drink order. This I know is not the usual representation of Wetherspoons values generally and this person's attitude is a significant detrimental impression to a chain of pubs who's focus is usually so concentrated on customer relations. This venue is a tourist/ seaside resort and the manager here portrayed a very negative impression, according to other review on here not for the first time trying to overcharge. I understand that Wetherspoons operate CCTV coverage in their outlets and I will be contacting them to suggest they analyse the appropriate footage.

With everything shutting down for the winter, one of the few places to go is the Red Lion. A stone throw from rail and bus station, with taxi rank across the road. A very busy local pub, service is good, but seating can be difficult.

Went here for breakfast and all thought extremely busy the food came within 15 minutes, it was lovely and would definitely come again! Thankyou

I don’t eat a lot so ordered a small fish, chips & peas. Absolutely shocking to say the least. My friends ordered a regular fish, chips & peas, shocking amount yet again. Don’t bother waste of time & money.

Wetherspoon in Skeggness is a good pitstop right next to railway station. You can pretty much count on the all day brunch being always as good regardless of where of these you end up into! With a sneaky pint to wash it down, you'll feel like the absolute governor you are!

Ordered the small breakfast. Received it without the hash brown. Partner ordered fiesta breakfast, poached egg was solid, no runny or jammy yolk. The maple cured bacon was nice though

Had a lovelyz tasty, perfectly cooked eggs benedict on Sunday morning with fresh orange juice. The staff were really friendly and professional , would definitely recommend. Definitely value for money

Can't comment on the food, as didn't have any, so will give it 5 stars. The service wasn't great though, as many of the empty tables were unclean and full of the previous customers' drinks... the atmosphere wasn't great in the back room, with super, super loud people. All this with the caveat that it was around 4pm on a Saturday, so maybe a bit harsh of me to judge on the service and atmosphere at this time, but just being honest. In general, a classic Wetherspoons, does what it says on the tin!

As it was Steak Tuesday we both ordered 8oz Sirloin, Medium. It was Rare- very Rare, any rarer the vet would have been checking it for signs of life. It was also the toughest steak we’ve ever eaten. It doesn’t come with any garnish now; you used to get onion rings, half a tomato and a mushroom. Certainly wouldn’t return to eat here. Nowhere near as good as other Spoons we’ve eaten in.

Staff very helpful and efficient. Was only drinking in there.

Nice wetherspoons in the centre of Skegness

Over cooked food also cold,and this has to be the worst Wetherspoons I have used the tables are filthy and so are the toilets the staff are so unhelpful and seem very annoyed if you ask for anything. Find them also very negative to children.

Ordered via the app 20 minutes ago, food has arrived and still sat with no drinks, wouldn’t mind if the bar was busy but there is literally one couple at the bar being served. Food is good though.

Our 'pet hate' is queuing at the bar. I appreciate there is a table app to order food and drinks but that is not something I choose to adopt. It was very busy and finding a seat was also a problem. JDW's are always popular for all of the right reasons.

Skeggys take on the Spoons formula. That's what I like most about spoons. You know what you're getting. Fantastic value for money with drinks and food. Heartily recommended

I just popped in for breakfast it was great very reasonably priced and was well-cooked Staff were great, toilets were clean as was the rest of the bar I enjoyed my visit.

Do you queue or not queue? That is the question. Staff say that we do not ask people to form a line. The managers should make the rule and not the sheep who form lines. Shame Sh e different day. A tap room of foul-mouthed locals, families buying food. A dissabled loo for everyone. Worst ever, Spoons. Sorry, Tim. New broom needed NOW. The new brush arrived alas the same staff. Again, most turn up fot shift looking like they have been out on a BENDER. So, poor service apart from a chap in his older status. No concentration. Stuck in bad routines, tables never cleared, no initiative, no supervision, and more life in a cremation palour. TO rigid in each other's roles, OTHERWISE, that's not my JOB. Very disappointing TEAM. It's starts and finishes from the TOP. Languge in the presence of eating families is terrible. It's the first TAP room I have had a drink. That's SKEG.

Absolutely Shocking Sat outside on benches with family and dog, about to order food and was told to leave the 'premises' because we had a dog with us (who was laid down asleep under the bench)

Meals were very good and plentiful although inexpensive. Big menu choice including pub favourites, vegan and kids menus. Good choice of beers, wines and spirits and all at low prices. Very helpful and attentive staff, much better than previously. Nice, friendly atmosphere and apart from the usual couple of loud and obnoxious people this was a good place to enjoy a good meal and a drink or two.

We have just recently started to have a veggi breakfast when we are down our caravan. For the price and free hot drinks it's a bargain 👌. Staff are friendly and helpful all in great place.Do have to wait for the food but it is very busy when we have been down.

In need of some TLC. Very busy. I would think all day every day. The app was not updated with their latest real ales, so we were unable to use it when ordering food. Mixed grill was fine, although I may question. That only the other week we said how much bigger the pieces of meat were getting. In about 3 pubs in our own locale. Not for me but overheard a client complaining that there were no O% drinks as they had sold out. Why not get one on draught?

Food ok, quick service but the place is filthy. Plates with food on, cups & glasses everywhere which in turn attract many flies. Tables dirty & need a good wipe down when plates are moved.

Busy pub but didn't have to wait too long for service. Ordered through the app, which was very efficient and the beers were ice cold when they came to the table. Great value for money. Can't beat a Wetherspoons!

This place was terrible we had to wait a hole hour for our food to arrive when they said it would be an half an hour wait once the food arrived the food was cold and there were so many flies I get you can't help flies going in places but other weatherspoons have lights to kill flies but this weather spoons didn't and once we sent the food back to have a new one that took another half an hour so once we had our food we ordered a brownie and ice cream all a brownie needs is heating up in a microwave for a minute but not for them we waited another half an hour just for 2 puddings and those were a bit cold aswell so won't be recommending it and I wouldn't be going back ever again and service was alright not the best there was only one server actually doing stuff all the others were talking to eachother they need to fix that place up it's disgusting

Brilliant service corrected a wrong order straight away and with a cheery smile...don't know her name but the serving girl went the extra mile....

When arriving we took a seat at an available table, unfortunately for us there were a large amount of flies racing around. Once we ordered we were told our food would be a half an hour wait, which soon turned into approximately an hour. When our food and drinks arrived our glasses were hot, which made our cold drinks turn warm. Not to mention our plates were hotter than our food. The chicken and the fish meals were barely lukewarm, flies were racing to the meals quicker than us. One waitress looked stressed as she was left alone to do the work whilst others were stood chatting. Will not be returning.

Took 30 minutes for breakfast. A long time to wait when they are not very busy. Food was nice when it arrived. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Cold food served on cold plates half the menue sold out. Table not cleared for ages no service skills not even was everything ok.Worse Spoons ive been in and ive been in a lot very disappointing.

Wasn't asked how I like my steak cooked, asked staff member to ask kitchen if I could have med rare and was told he would see what he could do. Food arrived and I asked another staff member how my steak was cooked to which she replied 'on a fryer thing' disabled toilet has no toilet seat.

Excellent Really good food hot and plenty of it staff very friendly and helpful clean.

A Spoons is a Spoons. Cheap beer reasonable mass produced plastic food, great sun trap outside the front for the evening sun.

Lovely place, first time visit. Clean, full of charm, and service is great. Toilets are a bit of a hike, but it's a Wetherspoon, so to be expected.

Really hot day decide to stop for a drink at Wetherspoons as tables outside. To be told we have to move because dogs are not aloud near any Wetherspoon furniture. This is a public street to walk down dogs pass the chairs and tables. She was laid on the floor and still we had to leave because it’s management decision. No other Wetherspoon we have seen this happen with before and it’s pretty poor considering Skegness is an attraction for visitors with dogs and dog friendly.

A useful weatherspoons opposite the station where you can have a drink whilst waiting for the train. Usual weatherspoon drinks prices. We didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food.

Nice place for a few drinks and food at a reasonable price. Great staff, quick service and food was worth the money.

Steak night £13 + for a gourmet. Not like the photo,just 3 small onion rings and the smallest mushroom.certainly not worth the money. Disappointing

I enjoy going to the Red Lion, alway spend a few sessions here on my annual trip to Skegness. Comfortable, clean and very nice staff. Gets very busy at times due to low prices.

First visit we were served by a lovely young lady with a nice smile, who made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble even when asked for a Guinness shandy. Tables clean even though busy. Second visit man served us, he had a couldn't care less attitude, tutted a bit when asked for Guinness shandy, didn't mix it properly.

Food was very underwhelming, tables dirty, on the plus side it was quick to arrive even on a busy day, tried twice and the same experience on both days.

Food was excellent served on a warm plate service was top class plenty of room only downside was order from table was not working so had to go to bar which was very busy

Unfortunately the new disabled toilets are difficult to get to there's a small opening pass some tables to get to the toilets my advice would be remove the table near the window as it wasn't just the needed that was struggling

Usual problem of a drunk shouting and swearing close to young families and still being served. Where was the shift manager Dreadful way to run a licensed premises Parents cover your kids ears !
