Can't begin to say how bad this pub was, miserable landlady and landlord and the worst food I have ever not eaten. I say not eaten as we didn't get through even a quarter of the plate of awful food we were offered. My husband said the beer was okay but please don't bother with the food it REALLY ISNT WORTH IT.

We booked a large table for a wide range age group and all were satisfied with the meal choices. Starters were excellent and huge portions, despite being pretty well first in restaurant only 2 portions of a special were available when we ordered 4. Portions again huge, you need a big appetite. Unfortunately steaks over cooked bordering well done when ordered medium-rare, minted lamb crispy and dry but all others meals really good. At times we felt like we had been forgotten as the service was not very attentive

I checked the website before going to the Red Lion on Saturday night, food stopped serving at 9PM, we arrived at 8PM and was told by a very rude member of staff that they had stopped serving and closed the kitchen because they had already served too many meals that day already. Made us (5 x adults) very unwelcome, so we left and went elsewhere. Won't be returning.

Great food, but make sure your hungry. Four of us ate there and we all couldn't finish the meal but it wasn't for the want of trying. All four different meals served piping hot. Restaurant wasn't over busy. Very good value. Only downside was barmaid eating her meal at the bar whilst serving.

Called in for a late dinner. Our intention was your sit outside but all tables were taken so opted to sit inside. Once inside it's like being in an oldie worldy pub. All dark wood but actually welcoming. Sat in dining area and decided on homemade steak and ale pie chips and veg and my son had sausage and chips. Hubby wasn't hungry. When the meals came the pie was proper homemade, plenty of fresh cooked chips and 3 veg. My sons dinner was fresh chips and 3 thick sausages. I'm a chef myself and the meals were spot on. In fact couldn't eat it all. Only complaint was seats in dining area were too hard and uncomfortable. Definately recommend.

I had been here a week or so before having popped in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. The food looked loverly though the restaurant was fully booked that evening I decided to book for the following Saturday night keen to return.Having arrived at the Red Lion I ordered the drinks at the bar and we was told our table was ready and to go through to the dining area and take a seat. The menu is a bit tight in what was available though there was a large specials board, in the bar area which cant be seen from the restaurant. I was looking at the menu and liked the idea of the sirloin steak only to be told after about 5 minutes that it wasn't on the menu that evening and I would have to have something else. The waitress tried to talk me into the expensive ribeye steak on the specials menu then said I could have 2 small fillet steaks instead. I went for the fillet steak in the end. One thing that isn't mentioned and is in the small print of the menu is that you have to order at the bar which I find most strange as they have 3 or 4 waitering staff on but no one takes your order at the table.I was a little disappointed when the meals came to the table as the pieces of steak were small and reminded me of supermarket steak not the steak you get from a butcher. However saying this the plate was full with proper homemade chips, homemade onion rings, grilled tomato and mushrooms. These were all very nice and tasted amazing. The steaks did taste good but I wouldn't recommend them is you are a steak lover as they were gone in a few mouthfuls but next time I will hopefully get to try the proper steak. The Red Lion is very much worth a visit for a drink at least as it is a nice old english pub, I would have to try something else of the menu next time to really say that I would recommend the food here as I'm not overly convinced as yet.

Book at table for Sunday lunch. Arrived and given our table quickly. Drinks arrived quickly. The dining was very busy, but we ordered the carvery along with the vegetarian option, which delayed serving a while whilst it was being prepared fresh. The short wait was worth it, my wife said her veggie option was delicious. We went up for our carvery and the plates were piled high, enormous portions. The quality was first class, excellent. The choice was turkey, pork or beef, so had a slice of each which were cooked perfectly. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, crisp and flavoursome.Don't know how they serve such good food when they are so busy, but they do. Will definitely be back.Well done Red Lion!

Visiting friends in the area, we called in for light lunch. Externally the building looks like the old characterful coaching house. Internally, the place is tired and would benefit from some TLC. The menu is very much popular pub grub dishes so opted for fish platter which was ok. On the whole, the service was good, the food was ok but the venue needs a revamp, clean but tired.

I had a very enjoyable tea time/early evening visit here on a Thursday just recently. We had booked a table for 6, which included my two young children and was throughly impressed. It's a place I go by very often and always wanted to give it a try, I'm very glad I finally did.Great service, fantastic food and a very nice atmosphere. Good choice of both food and drink, I had the steak pie and a pint of Batemans. You can't beat a great pie and a pint of real ale! All the dishes were of a high standard and the family were very happy and well fed. Highly recommended.

We visited for a meal, arrived early evening and there was a large party also waiting to eat. So we expected the service to be slow - not the case, the friendly staff found us a table quickly and served us straight away. Food was very good too - fish & chips, steak and ale pie - which had loads of meat in it. Recommended.

We stayed at The Red Lion for three nights, to visit the aviation centres at Coningsby and East Kirkby. The bedrooms are quite spacious and very well appointed. The cuisine, the range of Bateman's ales, and the selection of wines are excellent. Menus for both breakfast and dinner are comprehensive and focus upon local produce. Staff are friendly and caring. There is a welcoming ambiance to the place, due in no small part to mine host's attention to detail. Anyone who doesn't feel comfortable here is unlikely to be pleased anywhere else.

We popped in one afternoon on the way back to our caravan park for lunch, there was a good choice of food on offer and all meals looked lovely on arrival the only problem for us is we are not big eaters and the food on offer was plentiful to say the least. Seriously the food was of a very high standard for the prices and we certainly had no complaints although we all had to give up before we could clear our plates which could have left the chef thinking we hadnt enjoyed his food, but nothing could be further from the truth.

We stayed here for three nights whilst we visited East Kirby airfield. The pub is within easy reach of the airfield. Although on the main road you are not disturbed by the traffic. Our room was nice and big and clean. The bathroom had no heating or heated towel rails but otherwise ok. The breakfasts were vast with plenty of choice. We enjoyed all the meals we had at the pub. Batemans beer was fab!. The staff are friendly and efficient. We definitely would stay here again.

Stayed over as part of a weekend visit to the area. Nice varied (plain) menu with lots of choice. Portion sizes are huge!. Very well made and tasty food which is a cut above the average pub fare. Breakfast potions follow the same theme - the 1/2 breakfast is the size of most others 'full breakfast'. Staff were very pleasant and polite - nothing was too much trouble. Would visit again without hesitation!!.

Called in here today for a spot of lunch with my husband. We both had the hot steak and onion baguette with chips and a side salad. The food arrived promptly and piping hot. My only comment here is that I hate condiments in sachets! They are difficult to open, messy and contain too little sauce. We were not happy with our tea (not hot enough) but this was quickly rectified with no fuss. I understand that this place has undergone a refurbishment and I have to say it is beautifully done. It was relatively quiet being a wet Tuesday afternoon but had a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We look forward to our next visit hopefully for dinner next time.

We visited this WONDERFUL Pub whilst on holiday in Lincolnshire. My husband, teenage son and I holiday in Old Bolingbroke, Lincolnshire every year and have past this pub many times. The welcome from the staff was outstanding, you would of thought we were regulars there! We ordered our drinks, and went through to the restaurant, my husband ordered ham egg and chips and my son and I had the minted lamb steak, I asked the staff what accompanied the lamb, and the staff member replied " What ever you like" she ran through a large list that we could have, we have never been to such a friendly place for a meal. Our meals were outstanding! my husband commented on that the hand carved ham was delicious, and my son hasn't stopped talking about his luscious lamb steak meal in the restaurant since we visited, the lamb covered half the plate and we had decided on chips, it came with a meaty, rosemary gravy, and cauliflower, broccoli and carrots; it was well worth the money. We loved the restaurant so much we visited later on in the week without disappointment. We will certainly visit The Red Lion, Revesby next year, we can not wait! Many thanks to the staff, there are a lot of pubs that could learn from you.

Visited as a small group. Certainly not fine dining. Of five meals, two were ok, two were poor, and one was inedible. Visited on Saturday evening. The location is great, the building has atmosphere, the staff were friendly and polite but the food and service was a let down. What was wrong? The piri piri chicken was cooked to the point that the chicken breast had dried out and become stringy and hard to cut with a knife let alone eat. If there was any sauce it had burned dry. The salmon cooked with lemon tarragon. Absolutely no taste of anything but poor salmon. No lemon, no tarragon. The steak and ale pie. Good portion of tender meat with thick shortcrust pastry. Unfortunately the meat/gravy was over seasoned and very much too salty. The pastry was too thick and left a bitter aftertaste. The two members of the party who had chilli were very pleased. The party waited over an hour for a waiter to attend after the mains were served and before we could complain. When complaining at the cash desk about the piri piri chicken, (which had not been eaten) were offered only a discount equivalent to a starter course (half the value of the main)

Myself and two friends had a lovely meal in the bar in this welcoming pub. We all chose fish -two of us had the beer-battered haddock and chips and the other the tuna. The portions are substantial, the fish fresh and well cooked. Service was excellent, with helpful staff and a really buzzing atmosphere in the pub. Would highly recommend.

Have been coming to Lincoln for years and always come here when we visit. We have never been disappointed. The food served is amazing and most of the ingredients are locally sourced. The atmosphere in every room is homely and inviting. I would recommend anyone to visit here if they were in the area. The Sunday dinner here is very well priced and you get plenty of veg to compliment the lovingly cooked meats.

2 of us called for sunday lunch we did not book but they fitted us in, the style was carvery there was a choice of 3 meats and a selection of veg I opted for the beef my partner had beef and turkey . The meat was tasty and well cooked and there was plenty of it . It was standard veg fairly ordinary and you could have as much as you wanted. All in all it was good and I would call again if passing but would not make a special journey.

Eight of us went to the Red Lion for Sunday lunch. The place is very busy and a booking is probably a good idea particularly in large groups. The staff are not the most welcoming I have encountered, not unpleasant but not particularly warm. All of us had the carvery which was very good. There was a selection of beef, pork and lamb which was piled on your plate. The meat was of good quality and there was plenty of it (Those ladies certainly hadn't been trained @ Toby Carveries)There was a good selection of well cooked seasonal fresh veg and the Yorkshire puddings were homemade.A few of the group had desserts which were nice, however the chocolate pudding was a little dry.Price was reasonable and I would definitely return.

An unprepossessing pub, but with a very reasonably priced menu which they adapted wonderfully to suit my wife's coeliac requirements, providing three options of starter, seven options of main course plus gluten free gravy and Yorkshire puddings!!. The four of us all had different meals which were individually well cooked and beautifully presented with excellent amounts of bothe the main course and the side dishes. We shall return and suggest that you give it a try, it really is a little gem

Stumbled over this place on a Friday lunch time, and pulled in, on impulse, based on its fresh, bright clean exterior and well-tended forecourt.A big pub/restaurant, with a wide-ranging menu, plenty of eating accommodation, very friendly staff, excellent service, and very generous portions of good honest fresh food, at completely fair prices. Sorry couldn't try a pint (designated driver) as the pub gave the impression that the beer would be well-kept.Nice garden with kids' play area, if the weather ever improves!Well impressed and we will recommend.

Visited on a busy Saturday night after what appears to be a busy Saturday at a new venue. The staff were friendly polite and helpful, but seemed tired and off the pace. Our order was delivered wrongly, but soon srted, but the standard of food was only ordinary. The Lincolnshire tapas, although a good idea, was stodgy and not very appetising. The chicken dish didn't look particularly exciting but the la but ladies with us enjoyed it. Sweets were overpriced as seems the case at most restaurants but were homemade and better than average, the wine was reasonably priced and good quality. Coffee arrived after 40 minutes with an apology. This must be viewed as a work in progress to which we will return, so try it and make up your own mind. This restaurant could be very good but needs fine tuning, and I hope that it is not a step too far for the family business who now have three restuarants in the area.

Gravy & stuffing was delish chips were nice rest of the food wasnt the best but after paying for the food you are put off eating it by the smell of wet dogs which seem to be more in there than people! I dont agree with dogs being let in a place food is served but if needed maybe have a seperate place for the diners with dogs!

Called to eat this year to find it is the middle of being demolished, inflatable bar at the rear at present, could not get answer to if it will be rebuilt, it was a spit and sawdust place but the roasts and other food was good, just hope they do put in a new pub with a very similar menu etc, time will tell.

We went specifically to this venue for breakfast. We ordered different breakfasts and made some changes to one of them with the helpful counter staff. The tea in the tea pot was cold and we took it back for a replacement hot tea pot. The breakfast was brought to us by a member of staff who did not smile or speak. Having ordered extra well done bacon we were surprised to note that it certainly hadn't been even well done. The plates were cold and so was half of the breakfast, the rest of it cooling rapidly. The toast and prepacked butter were placed on the top of the breakfast and we had to use our fingers to try and get them off the top, even though there was nowhere to put them (have they never heard of side plates)? All in all, very poor. Customer care is clearly not a priority.
