Really lovely afternoon in a lovely little country pub, great roast dinner for Mother’s Day and lots of it, lovely pudding and nice atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome with our puppy Nelly too .. Will most defiantly be back :-) also lots of walks to explore close by.

The most flavoursome roasts, fires burning and dogs doing their thing, old countryside pub tucked up in the hillside of Whiteleaf 🖤

Interesting pub in a great location and with lovely staff Will note that the coors we had was off but the staff quickly turned that around and offered us another drink 🍻

A nice pub lunch while enjoying a day out. Sunday roasts with all the fixings you'd expect. Generous portions and reasonable prices.

Beautiful spit and sawdust Buckinghamshire pub serving amazing roast dinners and perfect Guinness. Will be in here again today after our circular walk around the Bucks countryside.

We were served by two obliging, good humoured young ladies and the kitchen produced top class Fish & Chips (very welcome after our long hike). If you don't get into the more famous pub a mile away, just come here instead ;)

Popped into this place for a quick drink, very run down, not hugely welcoming. Asked for bottled beers only to be told they don’t serve any. Plenty of other options in the area.

Outside under cover on a cold and windy Sunday but a great pint or two of Brakspears and a warm welcome from the friendly staff.

Good place to stop after a walk. Delicious steak, but needed to wait until 7pm to be served (and I was starving 😀). Overall, very good and very nice staff.

What a great find. Visited on a Sunday lunch time and felt really welcome. Vegetarian and celiac catered for no problem. The Guinness was great, the roast plentiful and delicious. Look forward to coming back

Lovely atmosphere and fab garden

The minute you open the door, you know you’ve found a local gem. We’d visited once 6-7 years ago during a blizzard and thought it time to go back. Very easy to book a table online and very accommodating. Arrived, was seated and staff asked us for drinks order very efficiently. Gave us plenty of time to decide with no pressure. 4 huge platters of our roast choices came, almost overflowing. Quality of the food nothing short of perfection for a Sunday roast. Followed up with nicely done homemade pudding, we waddled out after settling up a quite reasonable bill per couple. Won’t be waiting so long to come back!

Booked a table for a family lunch after a walk in Wendover Woods. A lovely welcome, friendly staff. A menu of proper home cooked food. We had roast dinners, burgers, sausage & mash and a filled jacket potato. Everything was piping hot and delicious! Puddings equally as good. We are all new to the area and will be back very soon! Excellent value for money!!

Only one of the best homemade burgers I've had in a long time. Staff are highly attentive & if your a dog lover then your pooch is welcome. If you wanted to describe an English pub to your mail order bride then take them here, the traditional log fire & rustic feel offers more than just a locals hangout.

We had a very good meal and service for the second year running. The bell ringers christmas meal was great tonight. Thank y to everybody.

Nice cosy little locals pub. Staff very friendly as well as the locals. Dog friendly. Nice roaring fire in the winter to keep you toasty whilst you drink.they have meal with drink offers during the week.

Went for a walk through the chilterns with friends and we were amazed. Service was quick and extremely friendly and the cheeseburger was the best I’ve had. Cute quaint family run pub. Very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend and will definitely be back !!!

Very welcoming. Friendly staff. Good food. My vegan butternut squash curry was very flavoursome. We visited on a Friday lunchtime and although it was busy, service was prompt. A great place to eat and/or drink after a walk up to Whiteleaf Cross.

Our first visit and we will return. Off the main road by couple of minutes and in to a lovely village scene. Super local pub. Garden out front in the sun and good choice of food options for lunch from light choices to a full meal. I ate off the specials board - garlic prawns and mushrooms jacket. Served with a side salad by a welcoming team.

The perfect local pub. Great range of ales, simple but beautifully cooked food, and super friendly staff. It’s great any day of the week, but Sunday’s are really special - especially if you hang around for the free cheese and freshly cooked bread.

Lovely village pub with a quiet beer garden. Seemed quite popular even on a midweek summer evening.

Main meal very good. I chose apple crumble foe dessertvbecause I was under the impression it would be small but it was quite large and very sweet...too sweet for me. I wish I had chosen the cheesecake which it turned out was nowhere near as sweet! Staff friendly and good service overall.

Fabulous rib eye on a Tuesday really well cooked. Great local pub in perfect hamlet setting at Whiteleaf.

We were taken here by our friends as we were down from Scotland visiting. What a gorgeous Roast lunch we had, full plate stuffed with several different vegetables and lots of roast beef, what's not to love. Followed by treacle sponge. 4 very stuffed tummies. Highly recommend.

Very decent food and very welcoming staff, will visit again

Popped for lunch with a friend and had a fab meal. Not the first or the last visit here but wanted to try the new menu which provided a great selection as well as specials. I selected one of the specials; smoked salmon and cream cheese tart with salad and a cheeky side of sweet potato fries, my friend had the quick steak baguette with cheese from the lunch menu ...and given a choice of which cheese she wanted (she had blue cheese). Fab fresh food, beautifully presented and we were well looked after by staff.

Fantastic welcome and a good selection of draught beers and ciders. They even provide water and gravy bones for the dogs!

The steak night is a bargain! Very high quality steak and decent wine.

We live locally to the Red Lion and usually walk up in the summer for a drink as it’s situated in a lovely location. On Tuesday evening we decided to go for the steak night. It was fabulous the steak was cooked perfectly, the wine was great and it really is good value for money. The young girl who served us was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back for food. Thank you.

Quaint English pub with 3 or 4 bedrooms. You can have breakfast and dinner. The price is excellent. The only flaw is that it seems neglected.

Went along to the steak night tonight. Amazing selection of gins to choose from and a beautiful steak which b was cooked brilliantly. The red wine which came with the meal was smooth and c the perfect accompaniment. If you love a good steak you need to go and try it

Friends thought the beer was not great. But great atmosphere

I provisionally booked a double room for 3 nights for July. I told the Inn that I would confirm the booking once I knew for definite that my works reunion was going ahead. They agreed to this and told me to confirm within a couple of weeks.

After walking the Ridgeway for the weekend we decided to break for Sunday lunch. But at 1.30pm looking for a hearty roast in an unfamiliar town, we hit trip advisor and found this gem!

As we were visiting Princes Risborough for the morning, we needed a dog friendly pub for lunch, near a good walk. The Red Lion was perfect! It is rustic inside and the friendly staff welcomed us all with open arms. Jon thoroughly enjoyed the steak which was among the best he's ever eaten and my fish finger burger was tasty. If you want to relax somewhere with the dog, muddy boots and good pub grub this is the place to go!

Found this little pub on TripAdvisor and we’re so glad we did.

If you come here expecting a 4-4.5* you’ll be disappointed. It’s a nice pub, in a nice location, but not particularly special. Having been to a lot of places rated 4* on Google this pub isn’t as good as any of them. Food was ok, prices aren’t expensive, but neither was it really tasty or really cheap. The main pub was cosier and more atmospheric so if you come try and sit there. We came on a Sunday and were told all the bar area was reserved, although lots of tables stayed empty, so people must book and then not show. For a 4* Id want better food, service and atmosphere - and certainly I’d suggest they fit a lock to the toilet door in the men’s room. It’s worth a visit, didn’t see a ton of options better nearby, but if you rely on Google ratings like me, expect 3* and you won’t be disappointed.

I went with a friend for a Steak at the Red Lion as it had been recommended by another friend.

I've been to the Red Lion before but not for a few years and I heard about their Steak Night. The Chef assured us it was the best steak around and he wasn't wrong, absolutely amazing Rib Eye - My friend even said it was better than Gauchos! Friendly staff and lovely country pub atmosphere.

We live within walking distance of the Red Lion. It is a small traditional pub, no loud music, pool tables or TV. The food is always very good, the beer well kept and the staff very friendly.

A small pub that is full of nooks and cranies and can be overcrowded. The sort of place where every one looks at you as you walk in - a stranger in the camp! Chill con carne was not special (No chili!?), rice over boiled and sticky. Will not be hurrying back.
