Definitely a five star review The calves liver was delicious, just melted in the mouth, best meal out for a very long time. The waitresses were very good Excellent service.

As I was part of the psychic night, I didn't get a chance to eat, but the staff were friendly and willing to help in any way.

Me and my brother went to this pub and it was the worst experience, the manager she was nothing short of rude had an attitude from the jump. refused to serve us stating she was only serving the customers that was sitting in the corner ( those being regulars) some other lady then came down asking us where we had come from. Unless you’re a regular then I would personally avoid this pub. The atmosphere is horrible, if I could rate it a 0 I would. Jolly fisherman up by the station is where I would recommend to anyone in the area. Staff are lovely. Avoid avoid avoid!!!

Had the most amazing meal and the Red lion this week! Even had some amazing cocktails. I highly recommend The calves liver I had it on my visit and it was delicious. Landlords and staff where super friendly and welcoming aswell.

I ate lunch there yesterday, a Sunday, and had a lovely time. The food was delicious, the waitresses helpful and friendly, there was live music and we were able to get a nice table outside. Couldn't have been better. Highly recommended.

Had the pleasure after 2 years to return to the red lion pub saint Margarets. I met up with the owner of the pub who was very pleasant and had no problem with me bringing in my English bull terrier dog called Gary, the pub is very dog friendly and has a lovely area outside with benches and tables , had a amazing burger and chips which was delicious, I was with a group of 6 people and we had a lovely drink, the service was quick and friendly, we all said that we would definitely visit again

Worked here on as a vendor on one occasion to support with the football. The staff are amazing, lovely pub, lovely environment. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely pub to visit. I didn't have the opportunity to try the food but saw a few people eating there, and the food looked amazing. Will definitely try soon

What a discovery by chance. Excellent food, service and friendly welcoming staff. You can enjoy the pub atmosphere and then go next door to a really smart but also relaxed restaurant. We are looking forward to enjoying the outdoor areas when summer eventually arrives. Oh and the best rib-eye steak I've ever had! Really recommend the Red Lion

We booked 20 for a committee lunch. Our preselected choices arrived promptly with friendly efficient service, excellent food both mains and desserts. We'll be back.

We can’t praise the Red Lion enough. It really is an amazing pub restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely, with very professional friendly staff. The Landlord. Martin and Landlady Judy and their team made our wedding day so special- nothing was too much trouble. Oh and you must try their roast dinners on a Sunday

We’ve travelled down from South Derbyshire, for the local festival and returned to The Red Lion as have been in previous years. The change of ownership hasn’t changed the fantastic vibe in the pub, if anything it has enhanced it. Our accents make us stand out like sore thumbs but the landlord and the locals have given us a fantastic welcome. After a lovely meal outside on the patio on Saturday we’ve just had a top notch Sunday lunch. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. We are now leaving for the festival with a full belly and new friends made. Would definitely recommend the pub and we will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality

This isn't just a standard pub restaurant! This is as good as a West End restaurant. We booked for a Sunday lunch and the food was superb. I chose the Roast Duck special and I was not disappointed. What made this special was the friendly welcome by all the staff, the clean and well presented table with a table cloth, proper napkin (not paper!) and a lit candle. The presentation of the food was lovely and the roast potatoes were perfect. Coupled with a great chicken liver starter and dessert to finish, the whole experience was on point and delightful. It's not a Toby or Weatherspoons that's for sure. Price wise, it is affordable and what you would expect to pay for quality dining with a homely and welcoming ambience.

Just had our daughters 18th birthday here - Sunday Lunch for 20 people, couldn't have been better. We preordered, the food was delicious and arrived all at the same time and piping hot. There was a great selection of sides and desserts and was very good value. The service was exceptional, the dining area was light and airy and it had a great atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend as a venue for a similar function or even just a meal.

This is a great pub for both eating and drinking, we have visited a few times and are always made very welcome by the owners. The staff are always very friendly and the service is good. We have eaten in the restaurant a number of times and last night had food from their takeaway menu. The food, eating in or taking away, is fantastic. You can tell they use quality ingredience and take pride in what they do. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub and restaurant Food and Service is very good. Entertainment nights not to be missed. The Red Lion has become our go to village pub.

Firstly, I do object to Pubs charging twelve half percent service charge on meals!! There was 3 of us for Sunday lunch. Two of us had Sunday Roast, which was average. One had Prawn Linguine, which was very poor. the portion was the size you would give a child with just 4 prawns, it was very bland with no taste. It wasn't the fault of Waitresses so didn't cause a fuss and paid the service charge, but won't be going again!!

A group of us had been to this lovely, traditional timber framed pub a few months ago and had a really good meal so we always intended to make a return visit. It has a large beer garden at the rear and plenty of car parking space, and inside has a warm and cosy atmosphere - we particularly liked the large bay windows that you can sit inside and look out onto the high street. The bar had a good selection of beers, ciders and ales, and the manager and bar staff were very friendly and attentive throughout, even though it was a Friday evening and therefore bustling. We had booked a table for six people and unexpectedly had to increase that to eight on the night, but it was all taken care of with no fuss and we sat down promptly in the spacious restaurant which is immediately off the main bar area. There was an impressive menu of cold and hot starters and mains with vegetarian options to suit all tastes and I opted for the grilled mushrooms as a starter with a salmon en-croute to follow. Both were delicious and I felt comfortably full without being "stuffed" which is just how you should be after a good meal. The waitress was charming, polite and attentive as were all the staff in the restaurant, and they are a credit to the establishment. Bearing in mind that we all had pre-meal drinks at the bar, several drinks with our meals and desserts at the end, the collective bill coming in at under £40 per head was very reasonable. This venue is now a firm favourite with us and we will definitely be making a return visit soon !

Not good. The Landlord wasn't a nice person to me and my dog whatsoever. Supposed to be a "dog friendly" pub. He spoke of my dog in a very unfriendly manner. He spoke to me in a very derogatory manner. I was there to meet a lot of very dear and good friends of mine. He spoke to me like he did, in front of them. Very unprofessional and quite shocking to say the least. We left within ten minutes. He made sure to be loud and clear that we wasn't welcome. My friends were also upset about the way he spoke to me. They were also very apologetic that me and my super friendly and lovable two year old Rottweiler (Zeus) were treated like that. We won't be returning as we both deserve to be treated and spoken to much nicer and friendlier.

First time visiting this pub. On arrival, very welcoming friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Sadly, we left feeling a bit deflated. £16.95 for a roast dinner and alot of the food that comes as standard with a roast were pricey extras at £4.50. The least I'd expect is Yorkshire pudding but that's extra too. Nothing in the way of vegetables. Just a few diced carrots and 6 runnerbeans. I'm happy to pay decent money but I like to feel that I've got what I paid for. I wish this business well but sadly it hasn't made me want to return.

We enjoyed a fantastic night at The Red Lion on Saturday night, great menu choice and the food was amazing, very tasty and good portion size, the staff were very attentive without being intrusive, we ordered a bottle of the house red wine which was really nice and the desserts were delicious. Highly recommended and reasonably priced. We will definitely book again.

Just had dinner at a last minute descision. squeezed us in on a friday night. So glad they did as the meal was supurb. i had the calves liver and my partner had the beef brisket, both were top class. the food tasted amazing with lovely taste and flavours. All the staff from the bar to the restaurant were lovely, kind and very polite. We will deffo be back for more. Well done chefs and thanks Judy and Martin for your great Hospitality.

Came here as a party of 7 for an 80th birthday meal. Loved it. Great food, great service and a lovely location.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly locals and staff. Food was amazing, had the beef roast and I can tell you it’s the best roast around, had cauliflower cheese side and it was as good as home made. Also great wine which is always a winner with me.

The staff members were so helpful when we stopped for a drink while deciding how we were going to get to our friends 30th birthday in London. They were genuinely concerned and super friendly. We ended up cancelling our lunch and made it to the celebrations. The menu looked fab and we will definitely be back. The best restaurant in the Hertford/Ware area, food & staff are brilliant, this place never disappoints, I'll be gutted the day this place goes :( PLEASE DONT GO! EDIT: Sadly Amico Di Amici is no more, it's changed ownership now, I've yet to sample the new restaurant so can't comment if it's still good or not

Depending on what day, and what time you visit, as with most pubs today, it can either be a relaxed, welcoming place, right through to a rowdy, manic football stadium tyie atmosphere. So, you picks your time to what you actually want. The new landlords have put a lot of effort into the outdoor spaces, which is attracting a younger crowd, therefore it can be quite lively, and if that's your thing, then you'll be in the right place, especially at the weekends. There are some nearby residents that dont appreciate the choice of music nor the volume of it.

Absolutely fantastic 1st time going, saw the Elvis impersonation and was a fabulous night. Staff were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Atmosphere was brilliant, we had a very enjoyable night. BBQ Food was lovely and went down a treat .

Visited the Red Lion for our 1st Anniversary. We didn’t have starter but both had the Grilled Chicken Cassoulet. And for dessert we had the chocolate bread and butter pudding and the Lemon Tart. We could not fault the food. Tasted lovely, portions were good and nicely presented. Staff were friendly, polite and dressed smartly. The atmosphere was peaceful but we did eat early so their dining area was not full. Gave 5 stars would definitely eat here again. Our only criticism was the presentation of the menu. Photocopied sheets of paper. Let the whole thing down. Perhaps invest in wallets for the paper to go in would make a big difference.

Had a beautiful meal here last night. The waiting staff were very pleasant and attentive. Beautifully cooked food at very affordable prices. A personal opinion only is that I didn’t think the menu style reflected the quality if the food or the cooking. We loved every minute and will definitely be to.

I went with my husband, brother and sister-in-law. Both waitresses were friendly and efficient. We all thoroughly enjoyed our home cooked food and will definitely be going back.

The whole experience was great. Staff were brilliant. The food was perfect and the place is so different to how we remembered it when we lived in the village 15 years ago. We will be back and recommending you to anyone that asks me. Other pub/restaurants should take note how to do it properly. Mum was very happy with her Mother’s Day meal. Thanks.

Declined my entry to even buy a bottle of water because they didn’t want to accept my Citizens ID card. My card has the official PASS 18+ logo and hologram and is valid to be accepted in all places. It was raining and I only wanted somewhere to wait until I got picked up and expressed this. I think this was a cruel act from the staff and could have easily been avoided.

Had a meal here last Saturday night, was so nice, relaxed atmosphere, great friendly service along with fab food well presented and piping hot. Will definitely come back and highly recommend, wish all the best to the new owners

Four of us had dinner in the restaurant tonight and had a very enjoyable evening. The menu offers varied choice, our food was delicious and the busy atmosphere was great. Service was excellent and we were very well looked after - highly recommend to all!

Went came here for Sunday lunch on a recommendation from some locals. The restaurant section of the pub is quite cosy but didn't feel cramped. The food is very nice, and the beef was cooked right, tatties were fluffy on the inside and just crispy enough on the outside, service was great and it was an.all round lovely lunch. 😊

Have tried the red lion a few times now, at first just for drinks and bar snacks and most recently a family meal in the restaurant. Always met with a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere. Great menu at sensible prices, good selection of beers and wines. Food has always been very impressive. Look forward to returning in the summer months to use the garden. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a lovely evening with our family in the restaurant. Haven’t been for years but as it is run by new management, we thought we would try. We thought the service was great and we all enjoyed the food. Very friendly atmosphere. We can’t wait to try in the warmer weather and have a drink in the garden.

Always freshly cooked , hot delicious food. Very warm welcoming staff. We order different dishes but the calamari is always excellent and a dish worth ordering again and again.

Just simply the best Italian dining locally that I have ever been to. Proper home made Italian food at its best. You will not be disappointed.

Nice enough bar but it felt like it could do with a deep clean. Table looked clean but was very sticky. Toilets were average.

Food was great and the little town and the restaurant has so much character, the only let down was the owner really. Would of been 5 stars 🌟 but poor interaction with this Mass character seems to be a reoccurring theme in the Red Lion reviews 🤔

We thought we'd give this place a try as we walk by often. We got a warm welcome walking in and advice on the beer. It looks lovely and inviting inside and has a nice outside seatting area at the back. We were the only ones outside on a sunny winters day so moved one of the tables to a sunny area on the same paved area. Still only ones outside the waitress comes and says can we not do that in the future as the boss is funny about it. We must have given out gangsta granny and grandpa vibes. Needless to say the future does not see us back.

Highly recommend the lovely food here. This is one of my favourite restaurants to eat at. Maz and his team make amazing food! Great prices! Also have a loyalty card which also is makes a difference if you want to save money! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Worth going to.

Went to the Red lion on Sunday afternoon with all my family and friends for a birthday treat. Being a Sunday tradition most of the family ordered the roast dinners along with many other Italian dishes . This restaurant is worth travelling a few extra miles if you really love your food and value for money . The roast was simply the best we have tasted in years . The meat so succulent and the vegetables were ( As Tina Turner would say) simply the best . I must admit I need to follow their example and put a lot more effort into my cooking . Although I could eat at the Red Lion every day . Well done the top man who has the best chef and staff making our afternoon a really wonderful experience. All highly rated by the Dalton Family and Friends 👍
