Third time visiting storehouse for food; despite the lovely food, the service is SO poor. Unfriendly staff mainly because they seem stressed and understaffed, orders are always wrong and the wait time is silly. We watched someone behind us get served their food ahead of us, our orders were wrong on arrival and there was no apology. Such a shame and we hope management can sort this out!

Had a lovely salmon with cream on toast. Prices are fair and staff very friendly and quick to help.

Hidden gem - We had their wraps for lunch. They were well-made, filling and really tasty. This little cafe provides a friendly service, great food and value for money in a town centre that's usually full of overpriced mediocrity

Think its a better place to go for Breakfast and lunch not dinner. Once we paid the pretty hefty dinner bill the lights were turned up to encourage us to leave.

We have coffee there most days. Outside usually but inside on rainy days and in the Winter. The staff are welcoming, the coffee good and the occasional croissant excellent. Makes us smile which can’t be bad.

Very pretty place with good value food and a friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for a casual lunch.

Popped in on a Thursday and found out they have a special deal that day, £6 for a drink and a nibble. The person who served me was lovely and she invented a nibble on the spot that fit my dietary requirements. So friendly and helpful, and the food and wine was delicious.

Monica makes the best dirty chai latte and provides superb customer service. A lovely place, highly recommend!

Perfect place for a casual dinner - pizza and wine. Relaxed atmosphere, really helpful staff, great pizza and excellent wine. Oh and a nice deli attached too - went home with fried egg flavour crisps which are apparently amazing

Putting ice in wine is a no no ,especially when they ask £14.10 for one glass of wine and one beer , the glass for the beer had orange bits all around the rim . It’s a no from us 😡

Really loved this place! We had delicious coffees there and went back later for lunch! The Pad Thai salad was one of the loveliest things I’ve ever eaten! The service was great and was so nice to sit in the sun and have a delicious leisurely lunch!

I’ve visited 3 times now. Every time the food has been delicious and the staff are always so welcoming and can’t do enough for you. It’s a wonderful place to sit outside on a sunny day too.

I thought it was a good shop and I ate the peach danish. It was nice I like the peach on it. I liked it so much was because I never have had a danish before, so it was nice to try with a twist. What a lovely little place. Have stopped there a couple of times for coffee & pastries etc & all were delicious. A bit chilly to be outside but they have even thought of that too, with wall heaters & blankets. Looking forward to many more stops there, especially in better weather. The business deserves to do well, so come on people of Hertford, give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

Just what Hertford needs. Great little place for lunch and dinner. All the produce and food is on point! The pizzas are without a doubt the best in town! My little boy loves the Nutella one!

The restaurant was not open when we arrived. We made our booking for the evening, we traveled 20 minutes to get there only to see the venue was closed for refurbishments.

Lovely food however the booking was never registered by HH From opentable! So lucky they could still accommodate us!

But maybe not for a quiet brunch. Loud music and noisy with people having to talk louder.

I was recommended this place by a friend and I am so pleased to have now found it. We’ve had brunch twice now and throughly enjoyed it both times. The quality of the food is high as is the coffee. Highly recommend. Should try to book prior as gets busy.

Super breakfast as always. Friendly and attentive staff. My Granddaughter has allergies and they were able to answer all our questions and meet her needs.

Sunday lunch was underwhelming - the "veggie stack" resembled a sad vegetarian burger patty with overcooked vegetables and the chocolate fondant was more like a dry sponge. Wouldn't be surprised if it was all defrosted in the microwave. Service was a well intentioned but calamitous performance by uninterested and under trained staff. The ambience was raucous. It was, however, cheap; you get what you pay for, I guess. Would not return nor recommend.

We regularly take brunch at Hertford House, they are always accomodating and friendly, the food is very good and is great value for money.

Always a pleasure to visit. We often go to Hertford House for breakfast with our 3-year old and we love it. The food is outstanding - fantastic quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. I would say it’s the best breakfast in town! The staff are lovely too. Great place overall!

I hope it was just a blip. We go here regularly for breakfast and usually faultless, however staff were all different, coffees were cold, sent back and they microwaved them! Brought no spoon, had to ask for one, they brought a little spoon that was no good for the tall latte cups, order came out wrong etc, not the usual service we get.

Really interesting menu, lots of choice. I’m quite a fussy eater and there were quite a few dishes I could eat. Clean. Wasn’t busy so we were served really quickly. Good value too.

Great Sunday roast - beef was delicious! Lovely buzzy atmosphere and very friendly and efficient service from Shauna. Great table by the open window on a sunny day. Dog friendly so good place to go for Sunday lunch after a walk.

i would for drinks and the normal menu, unfortunately i wouldn't recommend them for the roast, whilst it was edible, it wasn't at the same level or standard as the main menu and the beef was extremely fatty and the roast potatoes were not crispy, it cost £70 for 3 of us and i feel there are better quality of roasts for that money available elsewhere in hertford

Went for lunch on a Saturday with friends and 4 children (all under 6 years). The manager was excellent with the children, nothing was too much hassle, even when drinks were spilled and food was all over everything!

Shouldn’t really get this excited about breakfast but when it’s this good... why not.<br />Everything cooked beautifully, wonderfully tasty, great service... just great. The full Hertford house English is 10:50 and worth every penny. <br />Cannot be bettered. .. and the black pudding... OMG!!!! No better way to start the day!!!!

We had not eaten at the Hertford House hotel since the restaurant changed to Chau&#039;s - we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - really worth a visit. Only downside was the speaker in the restaurant was playing different music to the bar (which you are very close to when eating) but to be honest this did not detract from the experience. Good service too.

Nice chilled enironment. Great breakfasts with a nice menu. Has a band b above but this I not something I have used. Would recommend !

I was very impressed with the food, and it was a lovely touch that the chef came over to our table after our meal to ask what we thought of the food. <br />The black cod was outstanding &amp; I would highly recommend to a friend. <br />However, there is space for improvement with regards to the waitresses and service. <br />I had to ask for the drinks menu, then we was waiting to be asked what drink we would like &amp; the waitress seemed to be huddled with the chefs having a chat &amp; a giggle- there wasn&#039;t much attention to detail. <br />She was also wearing a chunky red jumper with baggy sleeves that kept falling into the food when she was leaning over the table to collect glasses etc- not very professional and to be honest put us off our meal. Going forward- waitresses should be more appropriately dressed &amp; need to give more attention to the tables. <br />Otherwise very enjoyable.

Chaus was excellent - lovely, freshly cooked Asian food &amp; friendly staff.

Chau&#039;s is a good addition to the Hertford food scene. Good range of various asian foods - some decent Chinese, Japanese and other options. Particularly rate the vegetable dishes and the Teriyaki Salmon. The ribs weren&#039;t so great - should fall off the bone, but were a bit chewy. Great service and will be back.

The starters were great! We had chilli squid, edamame beans and duck wraps! It was so yummy.<br />The resteraunt itself is very small and all tables are really close together so if you don&#039;t want to feel like you&#039;re on a date with other couples don&#039;t go!<br />The mains we ordered were sweet and sour chicken which tasted like tomato to soup and not sweet at all and cashew chicken which we thought would be like satay chicken but it was chicken and cashews on a plate! <br />Over all would go again just for starters and drinks but not a main dish.

Quite simply the best pancakes I have ever had! I have eaten in nearly all hotels/cafes and restaurants in Hertford, but Hertford House is the best by far! Enjoy.

Excellent updated menu for food with great American choice. Cocktails Best Buy during the 2-4-1 hours otherwise can become a little expensive. Better service during the quieter periods although here has a great atmosphere when things liven up.

Hertford House has a fairly limited menu, but what they do do is really great. I've pled a few of the burgers and they really are amazing. Huge things, with a very generous bucket of fries to go along with it. And the puds are really nice too - great sundaes. Fantastic food! The service has always been great - we've had the same waitress both times and she has always been knowledgeable, helpful and very chatty. And the atmosphere is great - during the week it's pretty quiet, but they have a good soundtrack playing. At the weekend there is often live music there, and this really gives the place a buzz.Really recommended!

Me and my girlfriend visited here on a Sunday night, we were literally the only people in the restaurant which should have told us to walk back out but we liked the look of the menu and thought we would give it a try. We ordered the 4 buffalo chicken strips to share, our waiter feeling the need to tell us that it only comes with 4, funnily enough we could read that on the menu. I ordered the pulled pork bun and my girlfriend the hh burger, medium to well done. Our drinks arrived by this point, I had house red which had less body to it than ribena, the Mrs had a bellini cocktail which she said tasted like it was made with cheapest alcohol going. When our food arrived mine was fine, nothing special, dried pork with little bbq sauce but edible, chips were nice. My girlfriends burger was cooked rare so asked for another cooked as requested or just to take it off the bill. Ten minutes later an overcooked burger arrived, she had two bites then gave up as it was awful.We went to the bar to settle up where my girlfriend voiced her dissatisfaction with the burger and drinks which we didn't finish, the waiter then said "you complain alot don't you", this wasn't well received and given my Mrs works in this industry she was particularly aggravated by his attitude, she asked to see the manager and he advised he was the manager. Given his poor service all night this was a worry as he never once checked how our food etc was. He offered 25% off which my Mrs wasn't satisfied with so he said it's illegal to not pay a bill, we had no intention of not paying but we could see where this was going so just paid up £35 for the meal and left without finishing our drinks.Overall the food, drinks and service was poor, we won't ever go back here and would recommend others avoid!

We visited with my kids to eat before looking around the function room as a possible party venue. We wanted to try the food and see what the food quality was like for the venue catering. The choice is limited but nice and mainly American style so good for families and kids alike. I can not fault the quality of the food. It did not disappoint. My only issue was with the service which was a bit lacking. We waited quite along time and then our main dishes came and our starters had been completely forgotten. there was not even an apology or discussion about. It was if we never ordered and they hoped we had forgotten too! This aside we had a good meal and they saved us some calories we probably didn't need to eat anyway!

Would not eat here again, poor service with rude staff and terrible food. Expensive for what you get.

I have previously eaten here and the service was excellent. Not this time.I entered and asked a waitress if I could sit outside and she said yes and she would be with me "in a minute". I sat outside and waited. And waited. And waited. Fifteen minutes later, I went back inside to find the same waitress sitting behind the bar twiddling her thumbs. I was so annoyed that I just walked out rather than raising my grievances to this total cretin.Needless to say, this place is one to avoid.

Went for Father's Day, we ordered our breakfast, they brought out 2 meals and forgot the 3rd one. We asked 3 different waitresses/waiters were it was and not one if them could tell us or went and served someone else! the 3rd meal eventually did turn up cold.At the end we did complain the waiter said we didn't have to pay, with the manager stood behind him, the manager didn't even apologise or say goodbye, he just wiped our order from the till system and let us goThey also used to do amazing poached fruit which has now stopped and you can only order 1 size tea or coffee for £2.40 in the most tiniest pathetic cupsWon't be going back anytime soon

This place is awesome! We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and the food and service were both excellent. The staff were amazingly friendly and the service was quick. The buffalo chicken goujons were delicious, as was the pork shoulder with mississippi fried rice. There's a great little garden out the back as well. Overall, definitely one of the best places we've been to in hertford so far!

Waited 15 minutes to be served then after 45 minutes of waiting for food was told it would be a further 10-15 minutes as they had lost our order, from what i could tell every other dish that was coming out was being sent back because there was a problem, even after my complaint they still managed to rush out my bill for the two coffees we had, head waitress seemed lovely but the rest of the staff seemed like they would rather be in bed, thanks for ruining my wifes first mothers day breakfast!

We enjoyed a lovely evening in the chop house. From the Valentine's menu: Cornish mussels followed by juicy steaks with a complementary prosecco. The evening was made by the really lovely staff who were friendly, welcoming and attentive. We left as the tables were pushed back and the night-time crowd turned up the volume having enjoyed a tasty meal and a fun evening.

It is a fun place to have in Hertford but being an 'older' person, I find it frenetic when busy. However, food good and fun to be in!

Our reservation was for 8.30pm by which time, one of the three mains items on the menu had run out. As we were finishing our main course we realised that all the other tables had been cleared away and the chairs stacked, so we were left in isolation! It was quite simply one othe worst dining experiences my wife and I have had!

I really enjoyed my steak, my girlfriend did not enjoy her pork ribs. I tried them, they weren&#039;t bad, the sauce was spicy, which I like, but she does not, but left a slightly sour after taste, which neither of us liked. Other folks may have liked it. The kitchen is open to view, which I like because it shows confidence in their work. The steak I ordered was tender and nicely medium rare. The service was competent, prompt and polite. I really liked the Anchor Steam beer available in a bottle. Overall, I would say, this restaurant is good for when you want to eat out casually. It performed as I expected. The overall price for the meal was good. I had a positive experience eating there.

Always loved the place for the drinks and am a frequent customer. It&#039;s a shame we were seated in the bar for the meal as it was a Saturday night so busy &amp; loud. Preordering GF wasn&#039;t success &amp; server was incorrect describing meal as GF. Half of the mains weren&#039;t as ordered. Despite poor communication somewhere, the food is good, maybe trying too hard to be interesting. Would eat here again for lunch.

I went to this appalling 'restaurant' for my works christmas lunch. Despite booking a festive meal months ago, there wasn't as much as a cracker on the dirty tables. The food was disgusting, cold main meals, veg cooked in a microwave which were raw, no potatoes with some of the meals.The service was non existent and when we complained we were offered a free meal, as if!!!!!!! I can honestly say it was the worst meal I have ever had to endure

Visited for Sunday lunch - food was very nice and tasty. Service started off very attentive but then our waiter disappeared and never returned with no mention that he was going. Overall, it was very nice but the service could do with a bit of improvement.

Had some takeaway burgers from here recently. Burgers came in a cardboard box which had soaked up so much grease that they almost peeled off the burger. Even so, the burger still had enough grease left in it to put me off finishing it and chuck my guts up at 2am the following morning.I wrote two emails to complain and neither were even acknowledged. Poor burgers can be accidental. Ignoring two emails is not accidental. Clearly in it for the money not to deliver great food and service. I'll take my custom elsewhere - there's plenty of better competition around.

Went here last weekend for Lunch with my Wife, baby, Neice and her boyfriend and had an excellent lunch I have to say.We all went for the beef as we are traditionalists, and being fussy we went for different levels of cooking / rarety and got precisely what er ordered. The plates arrived at the same time and had plenty of food on them, lots of thickly cut meat, yorkshires and all the trimmings. A nice touch was an extra pot of gravy just in case ( i always like a bit more).Needless to say that we didn't have any room for pudding.I thoroughly recommend it, especially as it's in central Hertford so no need to drive to the gesture pub types and you can have a drink!

I had previously walked past the restaurant and decided not to go in as the lighting at the front of the bar/restaurant made it look unappealing to a businessman who wanted a quiet meal and time to catch up on news or read a book etc. I had looked at the online menu and decided I liked the look of the menu so I took the plunge and walked in, was greeted warmly and advised I could sit anywhere I wanted. Complimentary cucumber flavoured water and mildly spiced popcorn were delicious.I ordered the pickled shiitake mushrooms which were a snack according to the menu which in reality it probably was. They were absolutely delicious and well worth the £7 price tag.My main was not quite so great. The hanger steak was not available so the choice was a very expensive steak, which I wasn't really sure to risk as for £20 it would have needed to have been huge and fabulous, burgers which I wasn't in the mood for, and ribs. I chose the BBQ ribs with a side of ties which turned out to be huge, with a slightly small pair of double ribs with a Korean style sauce. They were pleasant and well cooked but I would probably look at alternative options.I did enjoy the experience and would come again, especially if the menu choice was more varied

Ate some pulled pork here and it tasted amazing, the outside garden area has had a lovely make over can;t wait to go back.

The other half and I tried this on Friday night, although the food was not wow the service and setting was good. Maybe it&#039;s just trying a bit too hard to be London with a similar vibe to meat liquor, pattyandbun etc

I recently visited for a business lunch with my team and we had an excellent meal. The new menu all looks tasty and no one had a bad word to say about their selection. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and polite. The meal was good value for money and there was certainly plenty of it. In short, I&#039;d definitely visit again.

4yr old daughter had a burger and chips. I had a sandwich and fat cut chips. Coffee for me and fanta for her.Overall it was a good lunch albeit a bit expensive at £16.50 I would have liked to have seen the sandwich come with some chips and sandwich.She really enjoyed her burger which is unusual because at MacDonalds she does not give them the time of the day but these ones seemed proper meaty chunky and hearty. So she gave it a 4yr old thumbs up. Overall it was a good lunchtime experience.
