Pub on way out from town quiet on visit this afternoon ideal for group visiting

Bar staff was miserable. Pizza operation was excellent food, great value, and lovely people.

Multiple visits across the years but reviewing August Bank Holiday 2023: Lovely outside area with plenty of seating and lots of sheltered options too. Attended during Hertford Music Festival and had a pizza from their on-site pizza van which was nice. Could do with more lighting outside towards the pub end. Wheelchair accessible outside.

Great staff. Didn't eat as I wasn't hungry. But the menu looked amazing. Will definitely try the food next time.

Good pub, decent selection of beers. A bit surprised they didn't have the rugby Champions League final on tv with a name like Saracens but I'll be returning.

OK. 2nd bad experience(last time lemonade was terrible) . Ordered 2 small cokes for the kids and a beer for me. Coke was served in a small whisky glass and full of ice(didn't ask if I wanted ice) so the kids drank it in literally 2 sips. The beer was flat and when I asked for an exchange to another there was no apology and the only concern was that I would pay the difference. When I complained on leaving they were half apologetic but didn't seem to care that I told them I wouldn't be revisiting. My advice is that if you are a family and you want a beer and a couple of cokes go to another pub.youll have a better experience elsewhere...

Small pub on Ware road, with a nice interior. The staff are always really friendly and always have a smile. They have a good selection of beers on tap and plenty of zero or low alcohol options, including zero Gin!

Like the place, very bad service. Slow and unfriendly.

Excellent food choices for vegetarians/vegans and very tasty - would go back. Desserts were a bit lacking, I felt there was a bit of a gap here as there weren’t many options. Price was reasonable.

Very pleasant staff, nicely chilled white wine at an extremely good price. £12 for 2 large pinots. Cheapest I've paid in a long while! They even have baby changing facilities 'well done'. Only 4 stars as we didnt dine there but will be back soon. Would definitely recommend!

Delicious vegan food 🤤🤤 popped here for some vegan chicken wings after lunch at pizza express and they didn't disappoint; very filling and great value for money ❤️

Nice pub for a drink, and outside in the summer! Drinks are so expensive though...... probably most expensive in Hertford! I know many people are put off by this. I think it would be a lot busier as a pub, but people I know prefer to go elsewhere due to the prices!

The food was fine. A bit expensive. Seems like an okay pub.

Popped in on Saturday for the first time. It was raining so stayed inside which is a pleasant and well aired environment and nicely decorated. Had a couple of pints of Guinness which were acceptable (not great) and my partner had a glass of lemonade which I was unimpressed to see cost £3.00 on it's own. Didn't eat but a couple on an adjacent table had a meal that looked and smelled awesome. Will definitely be back to try the menu and will update this review with more info. Definitely worth a visit.

Great atmosphere and lovey staff. Love their vegan food great choice and plenty of it!

No cask ale. Exclusively vegan food served - burgers, kebabs, 'chicken' pieces, marmite fries etc. Food is done well and served American 'burger-joint' style.

Ate here a few weeks back with a girlfriend. She was blown away by the menu and the food. We couldn't finish our meals, eyes were too big and all that! I had the chips with sliced schicken and sauce..... whoever thought of that concept, I hate you much! My burger was magnificent and quite ridiculous, but I gave it my best shot! Sue my friend ate her burger in three bits, we both laughed as we drizzled sauce all over our outfits! Love this place, love the bar as it's stocked with great Gin's etc. Server was a lovely friendly chap... all in all a great place to dine out. Love it.

Visited for a friends surprise birthday meal and had a lovely time! Very chilled atmosphere and staff were faultless. I am a meat eater so the ‘chicken’ texture wasn’t to my taste HOWEVER it was full of flavour (Korean bites). Would recommend!

After booking for a birthday of 25people today we were shocked to find the food was tasteless and the majority of the party did not eat their food. We were not given any tissues with our food and no one came to ask how our food was or anything…. To make things worse when we asked for a knife to cut the cake we were made to feel uncomfortable as they said they couldn’t as the cake wasn’t vegan. How ridiculous! Then we asked for some tissues to hand out the cake and that was too much trouble also!! We had to go to the toilet to get some paper towels!! We travelled to this place and were left with more than a sour taste in our mouth! We will never be returning!

Love the Vegan food. Super delicious! The pub garden is nice and the staff is vrry friendly. Highly recommended!

Came here off the back of a recommendation we were given. Both recently turned vegetarian but struggled to find a cheat meal that left us feeling naughty and full! Veg Heads fulfilled that easily. Massive portions and great tasting food. £10 for the lunch time menu was great value, we added Mac n cheese which was great but not needed as we were truly stuffed by the end. We ordered a biscoff brownie to takeaway as well. Thank you to Jo for your very attentive service. Well worth the hour drive

Fantastic afternoon recovering from cycling around Lea Valley with a copious supply of Pepsi and delicious food. Sunny beer garden, friendly staff and customers.

I would like to personally thank Jo for the worst hospitally I've ever experienced in my whole life. I don't know whether she was having bad day, she claims I was rude to her so she refused to serve me when all I said was that I don't own a smartphone and is there a alternative for the track and trace app, which government guidelines state you can leave your phone number and name. Would not recommend the pub. I only came here for the food ie veg heads who are awesome people. As for the manager Jo she needs educating on how to handle situations with customer. I was also told if I didn't like it to go somewhere else I was willing to spend money in this establishment and have been waiting along time to eat at veg heads. BTW Beag heads are awesome people and I feel sorry for them as the front of house of the pub is losing them customers!!!!

Looking forward to visiting here more. Very friendly service and the nibbles we had were really nice. Great decor and nicely laid out too! We'll be back soon!

Been a couple of times for take away food from the VEG HEADS kitchen. The food is divine. Whoever thought of this concept is very clever indeed. Healthy food, the most inventive and creative presentation, plus the taste......... unbelievably good! Now the pub is open again, we're coming in to sample the food, AND a pint of your finest beer! Thank you Veg Heads... made my year finding your food!

Excellent new vegan menu. Fab service. Felt very safe regarding covid rules and regulations.

4 primarily meat eaters tried this Vegan only menu pub. Food was not only better than expected it was really good - tasty & plentiful. Marmite chips a huge hit as were the Chinese beef & coleslaw sides. Mains of burgers and veggie bowls impressive.

Nice refurb, especially in the garden area, and Amazing food from VegHeads (and we were 4 omnivores). Defo worth a trip!

We went in Half the pub was reserved. other half had SEVEN dogs roaming about. Disgraceful. Staff zombies. McMullens needs to investigate.

Title says it all really. Went for Saturday pre-shopping lunch but sadly due to illness the kitchen was closed. The staff were so apologetic and helpful offering suggestions for alternatives that we felt bad leaving (though hunger got us through that one!). Excellent example of customer care, will definitely be back especially as they're dog friendly. Well done!

Pretty decent local pub, one of the few places you can go and watch the football in Hertford. It seems to be in a transitional period as it is sometimes closed for no reason.

Saw that The Saracens Head was open again after being closed for a while so we popped in for a nose. Seems it’s back under the wing of Laura with a new, welcoming manger, friendly staff, great beers as always and yummy food. We will deffo be back soon!

Bit out of town, so can be quiet. Nice enough but basic.

Bit of a wobble of late but the owner is bringing life back into the pub. No food yet, but football on tv and a refresh on the beers on tap......plus a hope to make the pub good. Long may it last; he’s got some cracking staff on board and will keep building

Stopped using this place a while ago due to lack of enthusiasm from the staff and low standards. Owner has plans for major changes and improvements. Really looking forward to the new Sarries

When me and my family went to The Saracens Head all of the staff were very helpful and quick with the drinks. Also on top of all that the food is sensational. There is always something to do there, watch the TV or talk to the staff. This local pub is amazing.

While on a short break we called into the pub for lunch with our 2 dogs. This wasn’t our first visit but the barman remembered us from a year ago which we thought was very impressive. The food was just as good this as it was last year. Our dogs were made very welcome again. A great pub and lovely food.

A good lunch out is not just about the decor or surroundings. This isn’t the smartest pub but the staff excelled and the lunch was superb.yhere was a great atmosphere and the attentive staff and fab roasties made this a great and reasonable lunch

Following a recommendation form a friend we Went to the Saracens Head for lunch today. The host / barman was really welcoming and friendly and the pub has a nice ambiance. We had two burgers and they were fantastic, really fast service and beautifully cooked. I highly recommend paying a visit and sampling the menu which has a good selection of gluten free choices, will definitely be back.

Favourite pub in Hertford! The staff are amazing and always friendly, excellent food cooked on site with loads of options as a vegetarian, too, and dog friendly!

Quiant pub, tried the Beer Battered Fish and chips, fish was crisp and tasty, and the chips were freshly made, not frozen so enjoyed the meal!! Would recommend

My girlfriend and I come here often. Food is great (particularly the roast and the halloumi fries), the staff are friendly and helpful, and the pub itself is nicely decorated with a beer garden.

Not a sports bar apparently (according to the barmaid who wouldn't put tv commentary on, despite place being full of spurs watching game on both large screens). Definitely not a sports bar. Decent beer and best footy fans though.
