Beefeater Ware in East Hertfordshire

Just to let you know the website IS NOT working, although regretfully it does not tell you. It's likely tables are available. The telephone booking request service is inaccurate and also not working .I ended up going to the restaurant in person to book .

I have visited this place today, and it went down since I was here 4 years ago. Once entered... Stinky smell, dirty surroundings. Been waiting 10 minutes to get checked. Staff is so minimal, and the waiting time is ridiculously long! Food tastles, burgers dry, and discusting frozen corn on the hob. They forgot to cook it! After the dinner, we waited 25 minutes to get the bill. Poor waitress had to serve the whole restaurant, and the till got an error, she could not print the bill. She had to ask the manager to come twice to fix it. But the manager was too busy behind the bar, serving people with beer who could no longer wait at the tables. Total waiting time was 1.5h. Horrible expierience!

Food was terrible! Sunday roast was disgusting didn’t even have any meat left but still put my order through and paid extra for lamb! Got grilled chicken breast instead of roast chicken and about two tiny pieces of lamb, 3 tiny roast potatoes. Nicest thing was the blimmin Yorkshire pudding. My boyfriend had the bacon stir he said that was average. Staff weren’t sorry at all for their terrible service and I only got a refund of £2.98! Definitely won’t be returning and will tell people I know to avoid coming here! Bleh.

Is this restaurant closing down? There are no bookings available on any day, at any time for the foreseeable on line, despite advertising the Christmas festive menus! Unable to speak with anyone, as automated phone!

In the last week i stayed in premier inn and tried the steak, salmon, pie, cob salad. Would only recommend the pie 3cooked chips seem typically slightly undercooked (where the 1st cooking by par boiling should help). Worst of all seemed to be not enough staff to serve, and quite a few unable to provide a VAT receipt. I gave up asking on the 4th meal.

Absolutely appalling. Tried to book a table via the website today (17102024) for lunch. Website must have a fault because you can't book a table for lunch/dinner for the next week. I have called the Ware restaurant twice this morning. Took an age to get through the automated machine and then for someone to finally pick up. On both occasions the member of staff picking up the phone has been rude and put the phone down. Suffice to say i went to a different restaurant instead.

Really good service, very decent food (steak sampler, chicken & ribs combo, beef & ale pie) all served & presented as they should be... the desserts (2 × mini brownies & cappuccinos) were way too tough, hence one star knocked off. They had been microwaved too harshly & possibly left under the heat lamp too long? Overall a good experience though! 😊

Went in for a Sunday roast which was excellent. I had all the meats and would recommend the chicken. Brilliant toasties.

Shocking food, really bad. Took my two children for dinner and neither of them would eat the meals because they were disgusting. They couldn’t even get the chips right, tasted like they had been cooked hours ago and reheated. We felt sorry for the lady who was serving as she was on her own without any help. For this reason we didn’t get offered a ‘refill’ on the over priced drinks and were also unable to complain about the food as she was nowhere to be seen! Won’t be going there again, such a shame.

Had a lovely meal here today even though they were short staff the 2 staff did really well on there own didn't have to wait long for the food which was very nice and price wise also very good they have a good menu for £8 would recommend 👌

Really enjoyed my meal here, and the fantastic service from Matt! Very nice place to eat, very clean and tidy, and in the perfect place for a walk down the river after dinner. Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in the area, thank you! 😊

Couldn't offer us anything even though there were empty tables throughout. Nothing till the following day. The app showed retakes to book in the evening.

Well done to Matt for his excellent service. The restaurant was really busy with minimal staff. He did and fantastic job keeping everyone happy. We don't know how he kept his cool.

Walked in not aware of their new booking system and was greeted by a miserable, unwelcoming excuse for a staff member who could only say "didn’t you see the sign in the door" …. After 5 years custom won’t go near this place again

Park Road Day Service, date of visit - 18th September, Lunch time. We came to the Beefeater for the Birthday of one of our service users. We were a party of adults with learning difficulties. We can say that Vicky who served us was wonderful and ensured all in our party had a lovely time. This included showing great care and consideration with the service users as they all had to pay separately. It was really lovely to go out as a group and be treated with such respect, care and consideration.

I booked in early for a dinner for two children. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy but had to wait a while to be seated which was pre booked, the waitress was on her own having to serve tables and the bar so the slow service was not her fault and she was helpful. However the first issue was the Nacho starter it was just crumbs in a metal tin as if the were the last scrapings of the bag. Then the mains the kids chips were burnt to a crisp, hollow and stone cold. They must have been sat for a long time. My daughter already annoyed from the nachos wouldnt eat them. I have Asked for fresh chips which came but had to ask a few times as the waitress was trying to multi task too much. When the bill come I said I was more than happy to pay for everything apart for the full price of the one child meal that had to be retired twice. I did say I was more than happy to pay for part of it but just not all of it. By now I had a new waitress and she said she didn’t know anything about the issue and their other waitress had gone home. She told me only a manger can give any form of money off. She went and come back five minutes later. She advise me the manager was only covering and normally works at another branch and they was in a conference call with this other branch and they couldn’t not talk to me due to their call. I was told there was nothing that could be done due to this, i did advise that I thought this process was ludicrous and was told I could wait an hour for the next manager to start. I paid the bill in full but when asked how I make a complaint regarding the food and the bill, I was hoping for a email to sort it privately. However they have told me no I need to leave a review, so here it is 2 star review and now a never returning customer.

Was told there was no where for our party to sit despite there being empty tables. Waited a while to order food and drinks, which once ordered didn't take long to arrive. Tables around us were left with dirty plates on for ages. The food was ok, but wouldn't be in a rush to come back. Maybe they were short staffed that day, and it's normally better?

Have eaten in Beefeaters for many years and you know what your getting but unfortunately this was the worse experience I’ve encountered in any of there restaurants, it was a fairly quiet evening and not that busy but the service was very slow and we had to ask for things numerous times ,drinks for example took 20 minutes . The food apart from taking a long while was all really overcooked , we have a medium rare steak which was welll done. , a kids burger that had been burnt and was so dry I wouldn’t even let my child eat it , very disappointing from a usually very reliable brand

A great venue for catching up with friends.

When we arrived we were asked, for the first time, whether we had a voucher. We did and thought no more about the question. But see below. A party of four on a busy Friday evening meant that the service was a little haphazard. Pretty good food, but the mains could have been hotter. Desserts were disappointing due to meagre portions. Barely one scoop of ice-cream with sticky toffee pudding and the real annoyance was less than one and a half scoops for a simple £4+ ice-cream only dessert. I now wonder if there is direct correlation between the use of vouchers and small portions being served? Just asking...

Good place to relax and have a drink. There are genie point chargers in the car park (rapid CCS and Chademo), if parking or charging remember to log you car registration inside the entrance to the pub.

Nice restaurant for a lunch with family

Horrible cheap food but not at a cheap price!

Really, don’t bother. Tried to eat the fish and chips but couldn’t bring myself to finish. The fish would have made a good missile and if thrown with a bit of gusto would easily have taken out a window. Guy next to me sent his meal back too. Waitresses were doing their best under the circumstances.

Compared to wetherspoons in hertford the breakfast here wasn't good at all sausages and bacon tasted horrible mushrooms were hard and cold orange juice was horrible too was very disappointed I stayed at Stansted Airport Premier Inn a few years ago and the breakfast there was brilliant yes very disappointed indeed

Been here on many times.Today we had to wait nearly 10 minutes for someone to find us a table. Which normal does not happen it look like the was shorty of staff.The waitress Vicky was excellent she was the only waitress I could see working. BIG Thank you very much Vicky for looking after us. The I had the mixed grill was nice apart from the sausages that looked like they’ve been leftover from breakfast .the steak was very small but cooked ok the rest was nice.My wife had Ribs which she said they were very nice. Will go again.

Been here twice now but will not be back, both times food over cooked all you can taste is charcoal, chicken dry, steak asked medium no pink.

Service was slow but it seemed our waitress was on her own so no surprise! Food has been so much better here before so not sure why the dip in quantity+quality? Also why the hell does any fruit served for a drink have to be either dried or frozen?????? It's nasty 🤔 I'm sure someone has the skill to slice a fresh lemon🤔

We had a lovely meal for our Anniversary. Great food, enjoyed all the more with the excellent service from Matt. Would definitely recommend.

Nice place with a tasty steak and friendly staff. Children friendly. Vicky, the waitress was very helpful and the chef gave us the option to choose the chips (not skinny as it was on the children's menu). Nice when you can negotiate. Definitely recommend and would gladly come again. Thanks 👍

Food was below standard, but I guess it's ok for the price . Staff are doing their best considering the quality of dining and deserts we're nothing like their pictures missing all the flavers unless you like plain ice cream my biscoff Sunday was all cream no biscoff sauce except for a small spoonful in bottom of glass and 1 biscoff biscuits over priced won't be back .unless they change the chef as it was the quality of the meal that was bad 👎

Not bad if you wanna wait 30mins to order then 1hr30 for food that's dry. They might want to increase the parking time, by the time we could pay (3hr parking) nearly expired.

Checked in to the premier inn beside the beefeater pub, went into the bar for a drink and the young fella behind the bar was so helpful, friendly, had a great customer service , think his name was Harry, after getting ready came back to the bar for a drink and was welcomed by a lady and another young fella, I have to say the staff here are just amazing, a real credit to your establishment, would highly recommend

I had the ribeye steak which was absolutely excellent we've also some fries mushrooms and onion rings make sure you get two pots of peppercorn sauce as there's not normally enough for one great food lovely day and Matt our server was excellent we tipped him 10 pound but he's worth a lot more well done Matt

Nice and cozy place. Lots of choice on the menu and the price is pretty reasonable. Friendly staff who were very willing to help and serve. I had a great time here on Sunday evening with my friends.

As we had to wait 45 minutes before we even got a drink I guessed they were massively short staffed. I don't blame the staff for the terribly slow service I blame Management who obviously don't have a clue how to run a busy restaurant. If it's a case of saving money it has backfired. We would have spent much more on drink if each drink hadn't taken half hour to arrive. The food though was lovely and our waitress Rachel was incredible. Worked brilliantly under pressure and remained cheerful and helpful at all times. Apologised a lot but we didn't blame her at all. The staff last night deserved double their wages. I do hope they were praised for all their hard work. Management you should get a grip or you will lose customers and decent hard working staff.

Food was overcooked/burnt... bitter taste in the steak(looks like the grills are not scrubbed properly and the residue stuck on meat) 1st lot of mac and cheese was amazing second lot i had to give back as you could count the pieces of pasta in it. Starters we had calamari and garlic flat bread which was lovely. We have been going here for years but sadly this will be last. Food quality has declined massively.The carpet was very dirty and clearly not hoovered after breakfast run. Waitress was very nice and helpful.

Enjoyed both breakfast and lunch at the Beefeater in Ware. Food was good, and the prices were decent. The restaurants dining area however, was very draftee. However, not more than I would consider another visit.

The restaurant was very lightly attended on this Monday evening. I was given a table and after five minutes I placed my drink order. However, I did not receive my drink within 20 minutes. My food order was not taken at all, the two waitresses were either completely stressed or disoriented.

Went for sunday lunch, i know they are very short staffed so was ok with waiting for a table. The portion size was tiny four very small slices of over cooke lamb, 3 rings of carrotts 2 burnt parsnips three roast potatoes and peas. A side dish of cauliflower cheese meant for two people had two small spoonfuls in it. Very disappointed

Lovely meal catching up with friends on Thursday. Matt our server was a joy, and made it a great evening. Fish and chips a little crispy but apart from that, everything was perfect.

This Is solely related to the "if you can call it" wonderful sunday roast dinner. Where to start. Well firstly we arrived 7.30 pm for a family meal for my daughters birthday. Having seen all te adverts and promotion on their so called roast sunday dinner a few of us decided to give it a go.BAD MISTAKE. I'm on the loyalty scheme and I will say I thoroughly enjoy the food at beefeater but last night left me having to say this today. I ordered the all in three meats which is chicken beef and lamb. To start I was shocked to find out so early that they had no chicken. Now for a chain like them not to have any chicken I found astonishing. The lamb was ok but not very warm . I opted for some extra so called beautiful pink sirloin instead. Well I got a measly sliver exte and certainly not pink. In fact both meats looked like it was Stoborough type. The roast potatoes were like the cheap Iceland frozen type and tough like they had been sitting there for some time as was the frozen pieces of parsnip. Both mine and my daughters one small stuffing ball was so hard David could have used it to sleigh goliath with in his sling shot. Finally the peas and carrots were clearly microwaved. All in all I would have been better off getting a tv ding meal from Iceland roast. At nearly £18 for this I was truly shocked and hugely disappointed. I didn't make a scene as it was my daughters birthday and wanted to avoid confrontation. However I did explain to the server who I must say was very good. I could clearly see he was in total agreement but feel he wouldn't want to say. I explained my group of friends love a good roast dinner and like to travel round to sample different venues but this is definitely one I would advise everyone to avoid. If a chef is complacent to serve that up on a plate to a customer he should be demoted to dish washer. Better still face Gordon Ramsey who know would tear them a new one.

Always the best breakfast around. Never miss an opportunity to eat here! Been using beefeaters since 1980 (The Cricketers, Putney) and will continue to eat here. My kids adore it also as they are always so child friendly. My happy place! Cheers

1 coffee machine is joke for all guests to que for Breakfast was bland and dried out food Under stafed that were clearly stressed and as a result rude. It served a purpose but would not have Breakfast here again

The restaurant was very busy this lunch time, and it appeared to be incredibly short staffed with only two members of staff on the floor. We were served by Matt and despite the fact that he was incredibly busy, he was brilliant, quick and calm. Great service during a time that could have been a long wait.

We were staying at Hanbury Manor near by so looked on TA to find somewhere to eat with the family made an online reservation. Upon arrival we liked the modern contemporary style restaurant, make sure you register your car for 3hrs free parking. The restaurant was fairly busy when we arrived at 1830, staff running around like headless chickens, certainly not in an efficient way, but were friendly. It took 55 minutes for our food to finally arrive….. unfortunately it wasn’t worth the wait ! I had the chicken burger which was a very thin greasy fillet, warm at best. My daughter had the beef burger which was over cooked and very dry, clearly been kept warm for a long time, portions were on the small side. Kids meal, sirloin steak was good and desserts were very good, if you willing to endure another long wait. Wasn’t made aware that sodas were refillable until we saw it on the bill. This place has the potential to be good but clearly lacks management, precision and efficiency. You need to allow 2+ hours for a meal here, so no good if you’re in a rush.

Yet again amazed only one toaster. Waiting time for toast is ridiculous why oh why can there not be another toaster food going cold whilst waiting. Only strawberry yoghurts so no good if you don't like strawberry which I don't. Asking about service is not really relevant as you help yourself. Atmosphere good and greeting when you arrive is excellent.

Weren't on a Sunday,it was very busy. But the food was hot and service good.

I was staying at the hotel next door and booked a table. The service from the waiter was excellent it’s a shame that I didn’t get his name. He was very busy clearing and laying tables as soon as guests left. He didn’t stop unlike some staff in other Beefeater’s I have visited who just stand around talking. He could give them a few lessons! I ordered the beer battered haddock and chips, it arrived promptly and was delicious. I saved some room for dessert and had the chocolate churros sundae, this too arrived promptly and was delicious. Highly recommended, I will definitely be eating here again when I am staying at the hotel

Went for a birthday meal with the family for my husband’s birthday, restaurant was full so staff where busy but it felt they where understaffed… we waited nearly an hour for 2 garlic breads, when when it arrived we said we had waited nearly an hour how long would our main meal be? We was rudely told it hasn’t been an hour.. then we asked again how long would our mains be , by the same man we got told rudely again that he wasn’t the chef!! With an attitude of how am I meant to know!! He got very angry with us, we had children with us so wasn’t very nice at all. Once our food was served ( my £18 steak was so over done , but didn’t want to mention as already had been made to feel awkward!) we asked 3 people to clear our table as the plates had been there a while, we believe one of them being a manager it seemed, he then continued to clear all the tables around us , slowly and not ours, so by this point we cleared all the plates and glasses ourselves. It was terrible, we won’t be returning to this beefeater again!! What a shame. I work in Retail and I know how rude people can be so I pride myself on never being rude or out of order to people or anyone that serves the public etc… so I was so disappointed that myself and my family where treated like this… shame…

The ambiance of the restaurant is lively and Jocey - manager on duty gave us a warm welcome and her service was excellent. Food is great and definitely we will come back again

Good place for a reasonable lunch. Chicken was a bit hard but otherwise good. Very reasonable price.

Had a lovely lunch here today with a friend. Three courses was a bargain and food was delicious. We had mushrooms, chicken burger and butternut squash and spinach lasagne with side salads. All cooked and presented very well. Matt was our server and was a great guy, really chatty and friendly.

We had a lovely meal at the Beefeater in ware today. Our server was Vicky who was a delightful lady , I have a wheat intolerance & she did everything she could to help (even washed her hands before serving my meal). The food was delicious & the price was good. Look forward to returning.

The worst food I have ever been served. Felt very sorry for the manageress. Will not be going back.

Food was good. The staff were overworked; under staffing seemed to be the issue. The staff were still friendly - but as I said overworked. We had to wait an hour for our main course.

Walked in at 12:15pm and was turned away as they said they were not accepting walk ins due to only having 2 chefs on. There were 2 tables in the whole restaurant which must sit at least 200, one of which was already eating. Hung around for half an hour while we decided where to go and no one else came in. We were a table of 2, and they couldn’t fit us in - in an empty restaurant. If 2 chefs can’t cater to a table of two then they are in the wrong profession. The waitress that spoke with us was rude and unwelcoming, and when asked if we booked for later in the day we were told they were not accepting bookings either! what a shambles of a business. Will not be going here ever again and will strongly encourage others to do the same. Sort it out.

Fabulous! Good quality ingredients, excellent selection of food for all my family of fussy eaters. Buffet style means it's quick and everyone can have what they want. Atmosphere is calm and warm, everything is also very clean. Our server Jocelyn was really accommodating and helpful and therefore the experience was excellent.

Food would have been 5, but we were there after 2 pm, so veg was rather dry.

Food was delicious and service spot on. The place itself could probably do with a make over as the furniture and carpets are heavily stained, which we help improve the atmosphere but that said, the food and service are spot on, so would be happy to return 🤗

We came for my mum’s birthday meal, about 14 of us. Vicky was super friendly, attentive and bubbly from the moment she introduced herself. She was the loveliest lady and made it such a delightful meal. Amazing service and made us all smile. Food was fab too but Vicky made the whole experience!!!!

Lovely family meal for Mum's birthday. Matt, the server was lovely.

This was my first ever time at beefeater and it was terrible. First of all, the staff took a very long time to give us a table, even if I booked! Service is very slow and the toilets aren't clean. The portion size was so tiny that I was still hungry after leaving! The food itself was very basic. I'm glad I didn't stay at the nextdoor premier Inn. Don't go!

We were served by Matt he was more than helpful and looked after us very well. We wanted to change the menu slightly and nothing was too much trouble

Had a lovely meal, our waiter Matt was very helpful & friendly. Our meal arrived quickly, was well presented & most importantly hot.

Needed a venue to host a sales meeting and the staff at the Beefeater in Ware looked after us very well. Vicky, our server was especially helpful. Good was great too.

Whilst the lunchtime period was exactly as expected the evening is a different experience. On both Sunday and Monday the bar and restaurant closed at 21.09. The website says they close at 23.00hrs. The staff response is aggressive and non helpful. They are going home and get lost was the attitude. I wonder what time they get paid till. Spoilt our stay and meeting with friends. The attitude at the Beefeater will definitely influence a stay at Premier Inn Ware.

My partner and I had a lovely meal in the restaurant the service we received from Matt was first class he was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for him. What a lovely young man and a credit to the Team. Well done Matt!

Four of us stayed at the Premier Inn next door, we ate in the adjacent Beefeater. Food was average for the chain staff seemed good until they decided to close at 9pm. Considering that the website states that food is available until 10pm and the bar closes at 11 I think this is disgraceful. Anyone arriving at the Premier Inn later would be left hungry and thirsty.

I had a very enjoyable steak dinner as part of the Premier Inn Package for an overnight business trip. We were served by Matt who was absolutely brilliant. Matt was attentive (without being bothersome) and his service and manners were impecable. I was very impressed by this young man and he deserves the recognition. Thank you Matt for making our meal so enjoyable, well done and keep it up.

Menu good, staff very friendly, food good, facilities clean, we were a large party boxing day and overall the food was good the staff worked very hard and made sure we had everything.

Went for dinner and ordered from the main menu, waitress was very friendly and very helpful, dinner arrived after not a very long wait, my husband had ordered the mix grill of which he asked for the steak to be well done, after eating about half of the meal, he cut into the steak for blood to run out onto the plate and ruin the rest of the food this was definitely not well done if anything it was rare!! When the waitress returned to ask if everything was ok we obviously said no, quietly as not to make too much fuss, when we showed her she said this is not acceptable and I know you ordered well done and that is far from it!! she then said can I take the plate even though your wife has not finished so I can show the chef as that is definitely not well done, she did offer to get him another one but as my husband was then put off he said no thank you. When we asked for the bill, the waitress had taken the price of my husband’s food from the bill as a good will gesture without us even asking for which was appreciated. You would expect with something like that for the chef to send his apologies, but there was no apology forthcoming. I understand it’s not a Michelin star restaurant but it would be nice for the chef to acknowledge he obviously made a big mistake and ruined my husband’s dinner even if you had sent, apologies through the waitress.

Just had a delicious family meal at this restaurant. The service was excellent and the Boxing day atmosphere very pleasant. Would highly recommend.

The worst management ever period...ever! Usless conversation for a week and then to say no confirmation from them!i will never use them services again!
