Lovely pub, atmosphere good. A few men at the bar were a bit loud but it wasn't really a problem and we could still follow the football match. Usual pub grub, but it was lovely and well presented.

Excellent Sunday lunch! Probably the best roast turkey we have ever had. Fresh vegetables perfectly cooked and really tasty extra gravy. Our only criticism would be the online booking system. You put in a request for your booking which a reply/confirmation should be sent within 24hrs. I put in a request for Sunday lunch at 1.30 on Wednesday evening and recieved the confirmation on Sunday at midday. An hr and a half notice. Not ideal but luckily we only live a 5 minute walk away. We did try phoning several times but no one answered. Apart from this, a wonderful lunch and excellent value for money. Thoroughly recommend and looking forward to a return visit.

Booked here because of good menu selection. The service was friendly and welcoming. Our orders were taken at the bar and, after we were told that because of the large order the food might not all come out together, all our meals arrived at the same time. Good portions, nicely presented and most of the plates were empty. We were not rushed out . Dog friendly with a snack and water station for the furry friends. Would visit again when in the area

Brilliant "Cheesy Chips" outside in the garden!

Interim management in place, old management removed swiftly with no explanation. Still welcoming, staff still doing an excellent job. Unfortunately, the idiot who likes to 'sing' along to songs on a Friday evening is now back, disrupting the atmosphere of the entire pub. Difficult to relax to tone deaf, drunken noise at 7pm. Guinness needs work.

Christmas meal was a disaster - pre ordered 3 course meal served cold - wrong food - burger served with veg and Yorkshire pudding, salmon served with gravy……the list goes on. Waiting staff were working very hard and clearly over staffed.

It has been few years since we last had Sunday roast. 1st there was 9 2nd the food wasn't anything special (Not as good as are last visit) 3rd it was a long await. pretty slow service to point when the first two persons was served their meal by the time the last person received theirs first two was about finished. 4th Staff were nice friendly. Food was reasonably priced.

The Red Lion is my go to pub for Cambridge Folk Festival and when I'm in the area. Good food, good beer, excellent beer garden and a breakfast to set you up for a long day of festival. Well worth checking out.

The food is good. Two of the three waitresses are very friendly. However, when we were ordering the food, another customer who looked angry told us "just to let you know we waited literally two hours for our food". However, we assumed it would be faster for us, as we arrived there a bit late (2ish) for lunch and there were just a couple of tables eating by then. In the end, they almost took the same two hours for us! It was almost 4pm when we had the mains. Probably it was the day, although I've seen other comments similar to mine, so I hope the owners do something to help the staff at the kitchen, as it seems the main issue might be there.

Had a really lovely visit to the Red Lion with some friends last weekend, we happened upon it by chance but stayed because of the lovely garden space, cost effective food and welcoming staff. We’ll definitely be calling in again!

SO much more welcoming than it used to be, had a really pleasant evening here with a book group. Really comfortable and clean. New management has done an excellent job. Honestly, I didn't like bringing my family here in the past but I would now.

Great place staff are also great there is also a big beer garden out the back and bar in it for the summer time

My journal experience here people are committed I'll give them that but the food needs some improving but I admit I don't everything I've heard that since I've left the language problem has improved with eveone I don't know if that true I will have to come back and read the environment myself if so maybe I will come back?

The food was great and I was surprised at how fast it was.

Had a lovely time at the red lion, atmosphere was great and the staff were really friendly. Good value for money on the drinks and food. I had the honey chicken burger and my friend had the steak and both were lovely. Would visit again especially when the sun comes out as they have a beautiful garden area.

Stayed locally so just popped in for a drink. Good range of beverages available. Menu looked good but we didn't eat. Had a nice local feel to it

My son and I visited the Red Lion having just moved into the area. I found a warm welcome, nice surroundings, a great atmosphere, good beer and lovely food. There seems to be a great atmosphere in the bar, clearly with some regulars, there's a nice area to eat and a good outdoor space. I've been back twice since and each time has been great. I would definitely recommend.

Casey and the team were super welcoming & the refurb looks fab! The food was great and came out quickly with a friendly service - we will definitely be going back :)

Spent a stressful week camping at the local campsite as we were visiting a relative at the Royal Papworth hospital. The Red Lion was a fantastic place to go and de-stress. Very warm welcome, nice selection of beers. Tasty home cooked food at a reasonable price. And dog friendly. As for the group of 'loud men' at the bar, well they were friendly and just relaxing after a hard day's work. No problem at all. I can think of many pubs that would be envious of having a regular and loyal local custom like that. Well done to all at The Red Lion.

Visited The Red Lion on Saturday lunch time for a meal with my family which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Great food selection and a wide range of both alcoholic and soft drinks to cater for all (particularly my fussy family!) Service was spectacular - young girl behind the bar was superb - doing a fantastic job - no request was too much for her - a credit to the pub! Overall pleasant experience will definitely be coming back!

Very welcoming response from all members of staff from first phone enquiry to helpfully allowing me to charge my campervan battery inside the pub while I enjoyed a pizza and a coke after my van wouldn't start after my overnight stay. The garden and parking area has been completely redesigned and refurbished with an extensive range of seating and shelter arrangements for the whole family or groups of friends.

Hi me my partner had a bad experience eating at red loin pub we order some food and when we got it was cold we asked them to make us a fresh One and they bought us the same one back they just microwaved it and I knew this because I marked a pattern in my food I found it disrespectful and rude when a customer has the right to ask for fresh plate when they don't know how long it's been left and when they ask you to do something do it don't take the easy way out you wouldn't take the easy way out if it came to health and hygiene so when someone asked whether you like to do it or not do it. Anyway better safe then sorry PS we will not be returning to this pub dramatic change of scenery

Had a mixed grill and a pint of madri. Steak in the mixed grill was a bit gristley other than that, for the price, very good. The madri was good. Would recommend.

First time here with a group of friends and their children after the recent works. Despite the decent food we felt unwelcomed by the lady behind the bar by openly criticising us for bringing our children, that were crying at the time, with a comment with other clients. We were also victim of Xenophobia by the same clients when criticising us (imigrants) for speaking our home language, amongst us, in their country… “they come to this country and don’t even speak english”. This comment was then welcomed by the same lady with a laugh and without any challenge. Poor luck for them as some of us were at the bar when it happened while waiting for our drinks using our fluent english.

We are visiting from the US and stopped in for a drink. The service was very friendly and the locals made us feel so welcomed! We feel very fortunate to have happened upon this spot and will be back!

I never felt so unwelcome in a place like this before... despite of a reasonable food, when I was ordering my food, I felt a xenophobic environment where some costumers made some not very nice comments to us. Now a days this cannot happen! It's a shame and can hurt this pub reputation! I also saw the a bar staff having a conversation saying that why the costumers bring their children into this pub. If this doesn't change more reviews like this one will happen! Thank you

Today we booked a table for a Sunday roast to meet with a group of friends we haven't seen in a while and have a lovely family day together with our children. That did not happen at all. When we were ordering the food at the bar a group of old men made racist comments while we were queuing to order. It was loud and clear for everyone to hear and no staff challenged it, they even laughed. One of the 2 year old children that was with us was upset and crying as she was tired. We tried to calm her down and even took her home so we wouldn't disturb anyone else and asked if their meals could be put in a takeaway container. We heard a staff saying:" I don't know why these people bring their children to the pub." What was supposed to be a lovely Sunday family lunch, turned into a nightmare that ended up with a mom in tears. The indoor and outdoor space were lovely, food was good. All the rest was just one big horrible experience. A shame, since the place has so much potential.

They have great beer, I'm really impressed. If you want beer go to this pub. Because their beer is really good.

We stopped in for some lunch today after Googling somewhere to go. Menu seemed decent and pub looked nice from website. The pub was empty baring a group of loud older gentleman crowding the bar drinking pints talking very loudly. Gave my partner and I an unwelcoming look up and down as we entered. Didn’t feel very warm and welcoming. -No one greeted us, had to find a staff member who were mainly outside cleaning baring one behind the bar. To ask if we just sat and ordered at the bar. -My partner ordered at the bar as I didn’t feel comfortable doing so with the crowd of men around it. -Waited 30mins for 2 sandwiches and chips plus some garlic bread. -Awful loud music playing the in dining area, smell of smoke old and new. -Food arrived wasn’t the best, waitress just said here’s two sandwiches. -Wasn’t relaxing and enjoyable. We left pretty sharpish - didn’t bother eating one of the sandwiches. My partner through hunger ate his, I nibbled chips. Have included photo - this is after I had picked through to see how badly it had been put together/what the cooked filling was like. Seems no effort or love was put into serving it & all for £27! With 2 cokes and the sides. Doubtful we would want to come back, sad as it seems like a nice pub.

Recently refurbished and looks nice inside. Kids play area in the beer garden is a nice addition. However the atmosphere is still a little bleak, and the food is mediocre (standard pub fare).

Very pleasant pub! We've been there only for drinks but might go back for food aswell.

Really busy night for all the staff. Just opened and a gorgeous sunny evening - the place was packed. Our meal took a while but that wasn’t for the want of trying. We were treated to a complimentary dessert for my 10yo - which was wonderful. The food was great (especially the chips!). We got chatting and made friends with a lovely couple from Glasgow and their dog Mini! A thoroughly enjoyable evening and special thanks to the manageress, who was working SO hard! We will be back!

Lovely pub, gorgeous garden but there were about 10 local gents getting very noisy at the bar, we couldn't even get to the bar to order! Quite a few young families with small kids in the garden but the language / drunk behaviour from some of the locals was quite offensive. Such a shame, lovely old pub, bar staff friendly. Could have been a lovely relaxing visit. The atmosphere put us off.

We staan hier met de camper omdat deze pub in de gids staat van Btitstops. Prima pub met een nieuwe eigenaresse. Wordt behoorlijk aan verbouwd. Ziet er allemaal zeer mooi uit. Pluim voor de eigenadgresse. Zeker een aanrader om een keertje campbridge te bezoeken.

Decent local pub with friendly service.

We stayed overnight in our campervan in the car park having booked a meal and reserved a spot a couple of days earlier. Very friendly staff. Excellent Thai food. Walkable into Cambridge and also on a bus route. Recommended. Glad we got in while we did as the place is closing temporarily for a refurb which will only make it more appealing for a future return visit.

Great Sunday dinner again. Have used this pub 5 times now in the last 18 months for Sunday roast. Today was as tough as it gets . We booked a table of 17 for 2.45 pm. They more then delivered… they surpassed my expectations. The order was taken efficiently and the entire table was served with in 20 minutes. No errors or mistakes. Quality was excellent as previous visits and the extra side dishes of veg were delicious. Everything on the menu was still available and my partners vegan wellington was good too. The 4 kids roasts were generous and a bargain for £5, Overall an excellent experience and 💯 recommend.

Great Thai food to go! Ordered over the phone to avoid deliveroo fees for us and for the pub. The food was cooked quickly and I was able to pick it up without any issues. They even gave us some complimentary prawn crackers which was very kind of them. Will definitely order from here again!

A very popular pub with great Sunday Roasts in very generous portions. Three of is went yesterday and had the special - roast lamb. Two had the 'senior' portions - essentially half the meat and half the Yorkshire pudding - but we all got to share the 4 bowls of addional veg - pommes dauphinoise, cauliflower cheese, cabbage, carrots & peas - a mountain of food. A nice pub, but maybe a bit noisy, thanks to the low ceilings in the main dining room. We will be back for more!

The best Sunday roast. Everything is fresh and its all homemade. No frozen yorkshires here! Great value for money. Its a struggle to finish it. Don't go anywhere else.

It's a pub with character and a special place in my heart and stomach. Many locals but accepting of outsiders. Very friendly staff and eclectic food choices. Regular pub food done well at lunch with a crazy chicken menu as an extra and really good Thai food in the evening.

Good local pub. Covid regulations in place. Labelked as a 'safe' pub.Well kept beer. Food also served, look up the times. Great place to bring a dog, inside or outdoors. Has quiz nights, bingo, music and other events from time to time. Not overcrowded. Sports TV in one room, dining in another. Lots of effort been put into this establishment, with good outside seating for smokers separated off from dining outside. Play area for small children included outside.

Haven't been there for over 2 years and still the toilets are rubbish,for a few quid thats something that can be fixed. Same old people still get in there

We called in this lunchtime and were very impressed with the price and quality of our (veggie) sandwiches. Beer was good and staff very friendly. There has obviously been a lot of work done to make the spacious beer garden a pleasant place to be. We will be back!

Can get crowded over weekend. Thai food is good but they do that only on Friday and Saturday evenings.
