I recently visited The Red Lion and loved their cosy atmosphere, especially the fireplace corner that's perfect for colder evenings. I've added it to my barguide.london site too!

As a business owner I would never ever negatively review another business. I know the hard work that goes in to it and it’s not easy for a lot of us. However, this has gotten to a point of seriousness and others are mentioning similar behaviour to me too. This person has deliberately set out to attack my business which is just unforgivable. The landlady of this pub is unhinged and quite frankly dangerous. I will not say here exactly what she’s done as that would be unfair but I can say she has deliberately attacked me as well as other females, including staff that she sees a a ‘threat’. She has barred so many locals because she’s drunk and takes a disliking to them. I’ve gone out of my way to help this person in the past and can validly say- she’s not a nice person, there’s something clearly wrong with her. Hopefully a future landlady or landlord will take over.

Been to this pub for years and it’s always pretty quiet. Recently the lady behind the bar had forced me and my friends to keep buying drinks threatening to chuck us out if we don’t. Wouldn’t suggest coming here if you want a relaxed evening. I don’t usually comment on these things but the landlady was incredibly rude saying she’ll put a picture of me in a local group chat because I spoke out about the forceful purchasing drive.

I was liking this pub until my partner was accused of being a troublemaker in this pub. When he's never been a troublemaker in his life in this pub and when we went there yesterday, he hasn't been there for nearly 2 months. So IM really shocked of the service and the attitude of one of the people in there. So I will not be coming back to this pub no more.

We had a hell of an evening here over the weekend. Initially we sat down for a couple of pints. The rugby world cup games and then England's football game ensured the crowd was buzzing. There's enough space outdoors with screens and live music. The staff are quite friendly. Honestly me and my buddy were so buzzed we didn't care much about food. Definitely coming again soon.

The Red Lion is a nice small neighborhood English pub. There are a couple of small intimate rooms. Also a large outdoor beer garden which on a summer evening was filled with families and their children. There is a cat that roams around room to room. This place is the epitome of an English neighborhood pub.

A great pub which is always pleasant to visit! They have a standard selection of pints (Kronenbourg, Guinness ect.) and these are always well poured to the top of the glass. They have Sky and all of the sports channels available if you quite like watching that with a pint. There isn't a kitchen available but you're allowed to order takeaway there if you're feeling hungry. Atmosphere is nice and the people that go there are friendly! Can sometimes be unusually empty on weekends but those times are rare. They often have bands and karaoke events if you quite fancy a sing. If you're in the area then I would definitely recommend popping in for a drink or two!

We recently had an engagement party at The Red Lion, we'd been a few times before and thought the prices were good and the pub and beer garden were well kept so figured it was the perfect location for a party. When booking the manager couldn't have been more helpful and this continued on the actual day, all the staff were brilliant, providing such an inclusive atmosphere. The decorations that they had set up exceeded our expectations and everything was so reasonably priced. Everyone had a great time and we really would recommend this place for anyone planning an event. We couldn't be more thankful to them for helping make our day so special!

Just visited the Red Lion yesterday with my husband and 2 young kids. Even though we've lived locally for years we never tried out the pub thinking if it was child friendly and if taking a buggy in would be convenient but to my amazement the place is amazing especially if you go to the private area at the back adjacent to the lovely garden. We had our own wee space as it was during a quite time. A special mention to Cornor who was managing the bar and the place, he was sooo warm and welcoming and made us so comfortable. Only shame that they didn't serve food but we had some lovely drinks. Overall loved the place...we will definitely become regulars. We are also looking to book the place for a private event as we loved the staff and the ambiance :)

Good little old pub, but ruined by the usual Pubco effect. Barely any customers, except when the rowdy crowd appear because the football is on ( only if England are playing ) then disappear again. I can go to pubs in London and pay nearly half the price. And they are trying to turn it into a restaurant. The outside caters well for covered seating, but if they don't take it down by next week, they will lose the sunshine brigade. The building is old and cute and small, the staff are great.

We phoned up, and told it was all good to come down.. When we got there, they wouldn't let us unless we download their app, when we explained that one didnt have a phone , left it at home, they wouldn't let us in. We explained that we were happy to give them our details , but they insisted, we must have our phones with us. And was told to leave.. We went to hastings last week for 3 days, had no problems getting in to any pub, and we went after that pub red lion to the grey hound in carshalton, had no problem getting in... Shame that the people at the red lion who made it all so complicated, one shouldn't have to have a phone to enter any premises. This is England not South Africa ( yet). Where one cannot go out without a phone or signal. I'm not ready to give up my basic human rights just yet..well actually nepver.. Shame on the landlady who didn't tell us on the phone about the requirements but instead expected us to go home to get the phone. .yeah right !

Since the pub re-opened after the long closure the management and bar staff are extremely unhelpful and rude. They seem to have forgotten about their regular customers and people who have given them business for the best part of 5 years in favour of large groups of rowdy males. There's no evidence of any Coronavirus protocols on site in place as people don't stick to tables, mix as they please and pass/go various different tables as they please. Avoid at all costs.

10 of us had our work Christmas lunch here, and had to pay a deposit and select our food choices 2 weeks ahead. We rang an hour or two beforehand to make sure everything was OK, and were told it was. However, upon arrival in the restaurant we were informed that one of the starter choices (chicken liver parfait) and one of the desserts (Christmas Pudding, believe or not!) were NOT available, so some of us had to quickly make other selections. The Christmas menu options were fairly limited, so to have such a high percentage of them unavailable seemed very disappointing. The food was generally tasty, but service was very slow, and we appeared to be the ONLY people in the restaurant area having Christmas lunch for the entire time we were there. We were not even offered coffee or mince pies at the end of the meal, despite sitting there for a long time after our desserts. Even if they weren't included in the festive menu price (which is a little unusual, compared with all the places we have been in previous years), we were effectively ignored from the dessert point onwards. This is the closest establishment to our place of work to have had a Christmas lunch, and this is our first visit. Based on today's experience, I am afraid I could not recommend another visit next year. Even the music being played was just standard pub hits (Adele, etc.) without even one hint of a sleigh bell :(

I had the misfortune of ordering a steak sandwich. I was asked how I would like my steak, 'medium rare' I replied. The barmaid brought out the cutlery and sauces. I was horrified, the cutlery was filthy. Dried food smeared all over it. Not a great start. After almost an hour of waiting for my delicious piece of medium rare steak in a sandwich (obviously in a decent piece of bloomer or ciabatta) I was produced with a few pieces of dried steak strips, smothered with cheese, in a two slices of cheap bread that had gone hard (probally due to microwaving the 'sandwich' to melt the cheese or leaving the cheap white bread to the elements). Apparently the 'sandwich' was to come with a dressed garnished salad. The salad (undressed) consisted of one ring of red onion, one slice of tomato and one leaf of baby gem lettuce. I could not bring myself to eat it. It was utterly horrendous. After asking for a refund as my food was untouched because of the unedibility, the 'cook' came back out with said food, slammed it down on my table and was so rude I could not believe it. She told me I would get no refund 'just because you dont like it' and stormed off. I couldnt believe it. It was like an episode from Ramseys Kitchen nightmares. If only Gordon was there. He would of thrown it at them. The owner then appeared at the bar from upstairs, hair everywhere as if she had just rolled out of bed (3:30pm). Telling me I was not getting a refund and that the dried microwaved steak slices were perfectly ok and that the bread was not in fact stale (and oh my gosh it was so stale). She came to this conclusion by poking her dirty finger on it. I got no refund or edible food. I left hungry and £6.45 lighter. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My advice. . . . Return the pool table and forget the food.

Haven't been to the Robin for a while but really glad we stopped off for a quick lunch the other day. My partner had the tomato and basil soup, which she loved (I had a taste and loved it too). I had the steak sandwich and chips, which I also really enjoyed. The steak was very tender and cooked exactly how I asked. Also, when we left, I left a package on the table (a Xmas present!!) and we didn't realise until a few hours later. Someone kindly handed it in when they sat at the same table and I picked it up earlier today. Phew! Service was also top notch and we found out that there's more to do, like open mike nights, etc, than before, so will be heading there more and more from now on. Highly recommend the Robin.

A convenient Costa on the west side of Central Road (the other chains Caffe Nero and Starbucks are on the other quieter east side). Quick service, but they had run out of cake at lunch time today, so only had various slices and muffins left.

A decent Wetherspoons on Wallington high street. Perennially popular. Good ale at good prices.

Honestly, it’s stunk so bad we had to leave our drink there. The locals had fell over in the front lying on the footpath as they were so drunk.
