The Red Lion in Suffolk Coastal

We popped in here for a late lunch after a long walk. Half past three and still busy is always a good sign. The service was really good and the food was excellent. I had the vegetable grill and hubby had the mushroom and ale pie. The vegetable grill was amazing! Definitely worth a visit.

We arrived at The Red Lion for a lunchtime snack. We were met by a lovely young lady called Alyssa, Who showed us to our table and let us settle in before bringing the menus over, my wife has a dietary allergy to dairy. We were given an iPad tablet to help us into what my wife was able to have and this proved brilliant for her as many restaurants just say oh I’m not sure or even worse I don’t think it’s got any dairy in it. So this is one of the reasons we will definitely be going back again soon. The food was excellent, tasty and hot. The service was great and Alyssa as always was excellent. A little note to the chef Matt thank you for the extra attention to make sure the dairy free option didn’t lose any of the taste. Thank you to the whole team.

Been to the Red Lion a few times since it’s been refurbished and have had a great meal every time! The roast is definitely a favourite and our waitress, Madi last Sunday was just fab! Chatty, attentive and served like we were her first customers of the day!

We hadn’t booked & were happy dining in the bar area. The staff were friendly, but shout out to Jacob who was attentive without being intrusive. We recommend the burger. We look forward to returning again soon.

The customer service waitress Alyssa was very efficient, friendly, with a wonderful personality. The food prepared by Chef Dave was excellent. The new decor has been tastefully done and makes the place feel homely.

Since the recent revamp of the pub, & terrace I have visited the venue on over seven, different occasions to find the food excellent, & the staff so kind, & helpful.

Meeting up some friends from far away and I suggested to go to the Red Lion as I wanted to see the new decor. Beautiful inside and staff look very smart too in grey. Mid week deal was great value, portion was generous and we all had a great time.

5 went with my nan and grandad and the food was really nice I had sausage and skin on fries x and my grandad had scampi and chips and my nan had samion x and we had pudding and also very nice and the staff are super friendly x we love coming to the red lion x x

Very pleasant venue recently refurbished lots of knocks and carnitas befits a large old farmhouse. Menu choice is sound and we had an excellent small lunch does just for lunch or the larger classics if you prefer. Made was very friendly & attentive so no problems with personnel either. Have been a few times and always good so only fair to leave a review.

We came just for a main course, as a quick mid-week treat. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and our server Chloe was friendly and efficient. The food itself was delicious - the steak and ale pie was fantastic - a proper pie, not just a “stew with a croissant as a hat”! We didn’t notice the excellent value Supper Club fixed menu, but we will absolutely be taking advantage of that next time!

We booked a Sunday Roast at the last minute and were delighted that the Red Lion was available as we liked the look of the menu. We were not disappointed! Everything from the customer service to the coffee was fantastic. My husband has Coeliac Disease and there were a great range of food options for him to choose from which made his day! The roast was probably the best pub roast either of us have ever had, we booked our Christmas Dinner reservation on the spot this evening as a result. Thank you to the staff at The Red Lion for a lovely, comfortable, welcoming dining experience.

This restaurant proved to be an ideal venue for a meeting with a long lost family. The staff could not have been more helpful and the food was both tasty and imaginative. Although it is some way from home we shall definitely be visiting it again. Highly recommended.

The pub has recently been refurbished, the experience was very disappointing. We were there to celebrate a 65th birthday with friends not seen for a long time. Even though the table was booked more than two weeks ago, we were put in a far crowded corner. The food was ok, but not worth the cost and the long wait. At one point drinks were ordered that didn’t arrive, we had to remind them to deliver them. I appreciate it was a busy Saturday evening, but they clearly don’t have sufficient staff and our server was either rushed off their feet or just uninterested. I will not be returning.

Went for lunch today at the newly refurbished pub. Very impressed for pub food. Excellent staff. Very comfortable, nice wine and sensible prices. good acoustics so it wasn't noisy although busy. Down side not the fastest but if you know that's not a problem. Veg a bit al dented for us both. Came away very happy which we havn't done for ages at other places. Thanks darcy our lovely waitress

We went at 6.00 in the evening and on ordering was told there was a 30 minute wait for food. The restaurant was only half full Main courses very small and we questioned if we had been served starter sizes by mistake, told that they were main courses and we could add to them at additional cost! At 7.00 asked to vacate the table as another party waiting. Appalling experience and will not be returning!!! They really need to up their game if they want to continue

We were delighted to be returning to the Red Lion following the refurb. Food was great, nice atmosphere and service provided by Alyssa was top tier. Hats off to Chef Dave!

So. The refurbishment is great and now a really welcoming pub inside and out. But it is missing a few tricks - Ordering at bar was very slow and appeared somewhat disorganised meaning we spent too long inside rather than out with friends - Where is the table QR code ordering system we have got so used to? Secondly - as a family pub, where is the play area. There is a perfect spot by the car park….was this an oversight in the ££££ refurb?! Finally, ordered some chips as a bar snack - Wow, were we on rations?! Potatoes are cheap right?! At least give us a few more in each bowl!!! Will be coming back but please try and address the above……otherwise you may lose our local custom early on!!!

We had a wonderful meal at the newly refurbished Red Lion. The decor feels so much lighter yet cosier than before. The meal was lovely, we both had the Pork Belly which was excellent. We were served by our lovely waitress, Darcey. She was very attentitive and polite and patient when my Dad asked to change tables. This is our locaI and I'm thrilled it is so welcoming - I'm looking forward to the nicer weather so we can enjoy the garden and lovely seating area outside.

A wonderful pub, we loved the new indoor and outdoor area. We enjoyed the roast dinners and was told it would be a 30 minute wait on food which was fine and actually came out a lot sooner and was certainly worth the wait. Wow! What can I say - what an absolutely stunning place for a meal. The recent refurbishment is absolutely exquisite. My Husband and I visited with friends and we were all super surprised with just how fantastic everything was! The food was absolutely sublime, the atmosphere and decor is just beautiful and the staff who looked after us on the night (if I remember correctly - Damo and Maddie…?) were just fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they ensured that we received exceptional service from beginning to end. My husband had the lamb shank shepherds pie and was completely blown away by how good it was. I had a burger and it was cooked to perfection (I wish I could’ve eaten it all but I left room for dessert!) Our chocolate dessert was so rich and indulgent that we both left with very, very happy tummies. Well done to ALL at The Red Lion - we will be back!
