Popped in on the passing one Friday evening. We had heard they offer a good selection of homemade pies. It was 7.15pm when we arrived and ordered a drink. A Few drinkers were in evidence, but we were very suspicious that there didn’t appear to be any cooking smells.... this was confirmed when we asked if they were serving food that evening. We were informed they weren’t as the kitchen closes at 7pm...... sorry, a Friday evening and you stop serving meals at 7pm? I gather this pub has had varied past, I doubt the present owners will survive long if they offer such a limited service. Shame, they offered a good beer and service was friendly and polite, but with pubs so reliant on food sales I can’t see how this could possibly succeed in today’s market, coupled to the fact that with so many good alternatives within a very short drive.

We popped in there while we was waiting on the local bus. The owner was helpful and customers very friendly. We only stayed for one quick drink

The pub does a market day lunch. It's cheap and enormous with a choice of meat and at least eight veg. The treacle sponge and custard are to die for.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at The Petwood. I went with my Mum and sister as a Christmas present. Excellent service from the staff and the food was delicious. .

Visited on Friday evening and the Tables, carpets, bar and even the staff were all filthy. The place needs a really good deep clean! We left our meals as we couldn’t eat them due to being put off by the uncleanliness of the place. Needs shutting down and refurbing.

Worst Fish & Chips we have ever had ! Chewy overcooked fish tasted of nothing and curry sauce tasted powdery and unlike anything else from a chip shop restaurant! The chips were fine, at least they got one thing right. Absolute waste of time and money. We used to come here a lot and the food used to be really nice, but it has massively gone down hill to the point where the food is no longer edable. I dont see how they could get it so wrong?

The Dolphin serve the best cod of all the chip shops in the area and the chips are always fresh and piping hot. They also offer a delivery service that is excellent and costs only £1 not worth getting the car out
