We ate lunch with our coats on as the building was cold. The couple next to us agreed with us too. We asked if some heating could be put on but it was clear that was not an option and nothing was done to accommodate us. It's such a shame as the food was to a good quality, and the price was reasonable.

We came for the Sunday roast dinners for the first time and were not disappointed. Beautifully cooked meat and vegetables and nice gravy. I had a large chicken breast and roast veggies and my partner had a vegetarian chicken fillet, vegetables and veggie gravy. The portions are generous and the plate the food comes on is large. We had Cruz Campo lager which we like and is sadly not available in many places. The inside environment is pleasant, tables are not too close together and the atmosphere is good. We have already booked to visit again for Sunday lunch!

This pub does not get enough credit as it deserves. Visited today for sunday dinner and oh my god, one of the best homemade dinner we had in Stoke. Think it would help massively if the pub would concentrate a bit more on the marketing side and social media to promote their delicious food. Not quite sure on the pub ownership, it looks independent more than a chain, which it should made it more flexible to promote it a lot more. We have also tried the normal evening menu on a different o as and this has not disappointed either. Very very good and competitive prices considering the market value, the food portion is just over the normal size as well. Desserts homemade too. I wish I could share this experience to more people and hopefully people will visit this place more, it truly deserves to be part of the food awards. The place has a huge carpark and it is easy to find, plus they have a very decent selection of drinks. If you want some good quality food, please give it a chance. This review is solely based on my experience and it is not an ad. The dinners were £11 each.

Me and girlfriend visit The Red House regularly which is why I have gone out of the way to leave a review. It is now officially our favourite pub / restaurant, as every time we visit the food is consistently amazing. The food portions are always huge and reasonably priced. The staff are always very friendly and we find most of the time we can ring up and reserve a table 15 minutes before we arrive (we only live in Weston Coyney). I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Stoke for a break. I’ve even convinced my friends who live up near Manchester to come down for the food!

The previous review regards “un child friendly” is hilarious!! We were in the dining room when this occurred. There was a 40th birthday on and the family sat in an area already set for the buffet. The children kept running around as food was coming out and the couple were on their phones . The staff did ask the children wher the adults were as the were obscured by a wall. The lady then started shouting about in child friendly? There wer 20+ kids in the garden playing 🤣 And that her kids weren’t running around? Even as the kids were running over the tables in buffet area !! This pub is very child friendly and the food is great 👍

Upon arrival we were told they ‘don’t think’ we can dine as they were fully booked - inside was empty. Sat down to wait for a taxi to leave with x2 toddlers to the left of the bar, a staff member approached my son saying where is your mummy and daddy when I was sat right there with in eye sight. The children were standing by the bar , and a staff member said abruptly said can the children not run around , which they were not running around. I approached a staff member and said that if i had known it was a not kid friendly pub we would not of come. The manager then come up to us very rudely with attitude and said she does not like the way her staff had been spoken to and it is a kid friendly pub and asked us if we were going to eat food which we already were told to we could not anyway. From the second we walked in we did not feel welcome and like we shouldn’t be there. Very very rude staff and incompetent at their jobs as they clearly can’t handle working under pressure.

We visited this pub a few years ago and wrote it off as it was awful (dirty and thread-bear). However we’ve been back a few times over the past 2 months and have had really very good food there. We now have a puppy so sit in the bar or garden but the staff are really very nice and helpful and the food has been perfect every time. Been going to the Red House for lunch as our local pub for years, however, yesterday walked over there intending to have lunch but on arrival and settling at a table we were asked to leave, informing us they were fully booked - weird as only a couple of tables occupied and none had reserved signs on. Totally humiliating having to slink out and no attempt to accommodate us as other restaurants would've done. Did us a favour as we went to the Auctioneers Arms down the road instead and had a lovely meal - much warmer welcome there and as they are a community pub we will prefer to support them from now on. Heard other things about how Red House are alienating locals so we will be avoiding in future.

We have lived in Caverswall for nearly thirty years and remember well the golden age of The Red House. Sadly, under various failed managements, it has gone down hill and we stopped using it several years ago as the food was appalling and the pub just plain dirty! We called for a bite to eat tonight and were not disappointed. The whole pub has a clean contemporary look and feel and the food and beer were excellent. My wife and I are vegetarians and were spoilt for choice. We found the whole experience relaxing and very satisfying, especially with the cool jazz background music. Josh and Sam have made a fantastic start. They are open to constructive criticism, so if you feel there is something missing, or not quite right, don't go away and chunter on google or TripAdvisor, speak to them... you might just be pleasantly surprised... By the way, the only reason I have given four stars, is because there is always room for improvement and this is a work in progress for a young couple who really want to make this work.

Ok, so we visited mid week. We have been coming here on and off for the past 10 years and the previous landlords kept tremendous ale and the food was homely and good. New owners have not lived up to expectations so far, a little bit frosty and ale not as good so we have not stayed regulars. However visited recently due to new chef and guest ale. We actually called to ask if we should book a table that evening and were told we could just turn up. We called back at 7 to make sure we would still be able to order at 7:15 and were told they were fully booked. I said this was surprising based on my phone call less than an hour ago?? We were then told we could order food but a 40 min or more wait........I must admit the menu is not very inspiring, cheaper steak cuts, burger and pies is the main theme. No real vegetarian or healthy options, nothing that really stands out either. On arrival I was surprised to see a handful of empty tables.....none with a reserved sign so asked where we can sit. Josh asked his partner if she was busy and the reply was ‘yes’ so we told them we would find our own table. No one came to us so we ordered at the bar. We both chose different pies with ‘seasonal’ veg that turned out to be well over-cooked broccoli and 1 piece of asparagus. The pies were tasty, plentiful and meaty but also very salty. Skin on chips were ‘ok’, nothing special and not a patch on previous red house chips. Served on cold plates too. The food came out in less than 40 minutes also. In fact, compared to nearly every Friday night that we used to get food here, it was very quiet despite almost being turned away. Do they want the business?? Not sure whether Simon the chef was working that evening but if he was, knowing that he has previously worked at the Swan with Two Necks, I think we will stick to the Paragon group in future.

Advisable to book weekend evenings but you won't be disappointed. We had noticed previously that dinner was served until 9pm so decided to give it a go. When we arrived there was a notice saying good had to be pre-booked but we enquired anyway and were welcomed to stay and eat. We certainly were not disappointed. The hospitality was fantasticly welcoming but the food was just delicious. 4 of us had the homemade lasagne and chips and one had Cajun chicken and chips. All I can say is that the chips were absolute perfection, moorish and left us wanting more even though we couldn't have eaten them. The lasagne was well cooked and the ingredients must have been locally produced. Very, very highly recommended and worth a visit. If you want frozen chips and prepacked food for £5 a hit from a national pub chain, you'll hate this place, so please go somewhere else. If you want genuine, home cooked food at a fair price in a proper village pub with an atmosphere, real fires, real ales on draught, some of the most friendly bar staff in the business and a beer garden, plus a kids playground this is for you. Although it does have signs of tired decor, it's a lovely old building in a fabulous village with a castle and village stocks. This pub holds so much potential but it needs refurbishment and a good clean. Threadbare and dirty carpets. Upholsterly ripped. Shelves with black dust. Vinegar bottle lined inside with slime. Menus were grubby as were the condiment bowls. It needs repainting. You are greeted by the door with a bucket of rotting cigarette butts. It appears that the place may be up for a new lease. The pub has a nice rustic look and atmosphere and Caverswall itself is a pretty country village with some interesting historic buildings worth a look. We'll be back for more food delights and very probably on a regular basis!!!!

Yet again a wonderfully friendly and warm welcome. Best pot of tea around and another delicious Cottage Pie!!! Red house chips continue to be well worth the reputation and are a bargain as well. We'll be back!!!

The Red House may be a bit out in the sticks for some but the food is so flavoursome I'd recommend it to everyone. The lunchtime special menu includes a lovely cottage pie accompanied by some of the best chips I have ever tasted. 5 stars isn't enough for this pub!

A country pub serving fresh homemade food. Good home cooked food worth waiting for, not many pubs have these days. Children love the garden in the summer.

Went last night a group of 12 for mum & dads 70th. The food was lovely, the staff were great and very accommodating. Let us decorate an area for the occasion and pre order the food which made it much easier. Will deffinately go again and would recommend.

This place used to do decent pub food but today's meal was awful...soggy chips and cheap soggy scampi.. service wasn't great and couldn't complain until the end as bat maid wasn't around and didn't even happy check our meal. When we gave feedback they offered free desserts which we declined after the main was such a let down and still were told we had to pay full price for mains. Won't be going back here again. They had also run out of several of the main courses so options were limited and the lack of concern for our bad experience was really off putting. could have got better meals on a meal deal price at a chain type pub.very disappointing

We use this place whenever we fancy pub grub. It's a cut above the usual microwave plastic rubbish and frozen chips that populate most towns and villages these days.Nice friendly staff who serve traditional pub food including proper homemade chips and mushy peas. The pies, battered fish and mix grills are all exceptional.

We've been frequenting this pub for a number of years now. We love it! The weekend is here when it's Friday night and we are eating fab food in the friendly atmosphere of the Red House. Staff are polite and attentive with GSOH. Landlady Andrea's thoughtful food fare caters for a variety of foodie needs (veggie, gluten free etc) And if it's meat you're seeking you will be impressed with the range on offer. Often locally sourced and made into old fashioned hearty casseroles. If you have never tried venison or pheasant, this is your opportunity. All reasonably priced. Great selection of real ales. An array of events throughout the year also available from here - Weekly pub quiz's in the capable hands of landlord Andy on a Tuesday or Terry's quiz on a Thursday night. Quarterly, seasonal Clay Pigeon shoots, which welcome people who have never shot before and which start with a great breakfast in the pub and also finish there with sarnies and chips afterwards. Also - Cheese nights, Valentines dinners, Murder mystery nights, Charity Bike Rides and the occasional live bands in the function room. Suitable for couples, families or friends out for a meal. If you haven't been, we recommend that you do so soon.

This is one pub I will tell all my friend and family about! Warming and welcoming atmosphere! Polite staff and brilliant service. Excellent home cooked food. For an unexpected night out it was certainly one of my best. Even the locals and regulars were friendly, now that's something you don't come across very often. I will be returning!

We live close by and had my husbands 60th birthday meal at Red House, the staff were very efficient, we pre-ordered our meals so as not to disappoint on the day. They gave us one end of the lounge for our large party and allowed us to put banners on wall and balloons prior to time of our meal. Andy and Andrea are friendly and welcoming and the food is always top notch. Thank you Andy and Andrea, my husband had a great time as did all the family. see you soon, The Barber Family.

Visited on Saturday 23rd November. Beautiful setting. Lovely vibrant atmosphere inside. Classic Victoria Sponge was ok. Mediocre. Looked better than it tasted. For £4.95 a slice, hoped for more though. Coffee was absolutely rubbish :-( Really disappointing. Very weak and mainly froth. Cappuccino should have a creme yes but it shouldn't be frothy....and there was seemingly virtually no actual coffee underneath. I had oat milk but that shouldn't make a difference. We were going to go back the following day, but decided against it. For three of us to have a drink and cake with not much change from £30.00, we wanted just a straight forward decent cup of coffee. I don't mind 'complaining' and asking for another cuppa...but I truly thought it would be exactly the same, so didn't bother. Also, didn't want to put a downer on our girls' visit. Such a shame. Invest in some barista training and this place would be truly great. Sorry to leave a negative review....but it's honest.

Whilst waiting for an hour full of anticipation and excitement thinking of the fryed delights coming our way let me tell you energy was high! Gota give a single star review we usually go to Lenny's and we all know what u're in for there basically a crematory in a lay'by. But unexpectedly this was the polar opposite I think this breakfast was a boil in the bag. Tbf it was good but the hash browns were so bad I nearly took them Lenny's to get them cremated Im not sure if it was because it's Halloween and they gave us a trick instead of a treat but u do not boil hashbrowns under any circumstances! And if u did fry them u need some some new oil as the viscosity must be at - levels
