Amazing food. Dog friendly. Great events. Lovely atmosphere

Played skittles there. A nice friendly pub and good food afterwards. Not many customers in apart from the 2 skittle teams, so quiet and not much atmosphere.

Had our wedding reception here. Absolutely brilliant, staff amazing couldn't do enough really helped our day go superbly. Thank you so much.

Very good, polite staff friendly. And very, very nice food. They are very helpful. People And it's very cheap for what you get good quality food.

Went for a carvery had table booked for 1pm and hardly any meat left beef had all gone turkey was dry. Veg was tasteless and just frozen no fresh veg used. Roast pototoes were good. Cauliflower cheese was rock hard and not very cheesy. Had heard good things about red house carvery but was disappointed.

Used to love this pub but never again!The whole experience was embarrassing!I called Sunday morning on the off chance of carvery availability and was told yes but there may be only 2 meats left(table booked for 1.30 but ok)anyway we arrived..wasn’t shown where our table was, just told your table 2..so we went and found our table. I asked the barman if they had shiraz..he started rifling through the fridge..I mentioned it was probably not in there as red isn’t kept cold, he said I don’t even know what it is I don’t drink that!There was a tiny amount of 1 meat left, we were told others had paid for Childs meals but then had adult sizes..this made no sense as the lady served the meat to us!food was ok tasting but pretty cold. Desserts all came out separate so all ate different times, 1 sent back as it was rock hard and they were overpriced microwave cheap desserts.The lovely lad serving was so sweet but didn’t really know his stuff and gave my friend an instant coffee after he asked if they had a coffee machine, not a big deal, the kid just didn’t know and obviously hasn’t had much training.. they lady came over and started slating him and called him a t**t!(in front of my child!)then stood at our table for an uncomfortable length of time slating of the youth of today!(my 16 yr old was there too!)she gave us a refund for some of the food. My friend spoke to her about us being unhappy but she seemed very defensive blaming the kids that worked there. I just wanted to get out of there it was so awkward and embarrassing!

They fitted us in last minute for a slimming world night and did a great job

Good local pub, friendly happy staff, Darts, pool and skittles available with a party room for hire.

Sadly it was not a good experience. Husband and wife team arguing! Ordered jacket potato with prawns and salad. The plate was molten lava! Hot salad hot prawns! No thank you. Friends returned their cremated steak which should have been medium rare. It’s a great size, good parking has potential. But not unless it changes

Where do i start…Went in on a sunday afternoon to find it empty. We thought maybe closed! But alas, a Couple blokes at the bar. Thai food being served from a catering van outside. I asked if customers were able to eat the food in the pub. I was met with sarcastic and rudeness from a bloke i can only i presume was staff. Sniggering and said ‘If people want food they order from me i run a pub and restaurant’ mocking us…whilst we have this conversation in an empty pub…youd imagine they need the trade…clearly no business sense there. We proceeded to finish our drinks and get gone… Zero customer service and Atmosphere of a morgue. Made to feel like we had walked into somebodys front room - perhaps an empty pub on a sunday afternoon should have rung alarm bells from the get-go. Such a shame! Ended up having to eat the thai food in the car

Went in for a quick drink with my girlfriend on Friday evening. It was cold and lacked atmosphere. No where cosy to sit.

even though they had stopped serving the carvery and we were a party of 6, Ian went out of his way to make us welcome, Food and service were great, Will not have a problem returning. So next time you are on your way into Yeovil or are heading back to Dorchester, call in and give it a try (it is a lot bigger than it looks) large car park outside tables

First visit - Sunday lunch - terrible experience - very young untrained staff - incompetent - and incapable of providing even the basic expectations of reasonable customer service. Very poor quality roast - had to be paid in advance - Served on stone cold plates - on our sticky table without all the vegetables - only eaten because we had no where else to go - after it had been first delivered to the wrong table- plates not cleared - no dessert offered or any menu at any time - told on arrival “there’s only roasts”. We left as rapidly as possible!!

Food not good. Service rubbish.. I wasn't alone .many people said the same. .which is such a shame as last time we went we had carvery which was great .

We went it for a drink on the way home at 10:45. I was questioning if this place was open as there are always traffic cones outside. We were served by a lovely barman(place would get top a stars up till then) Went out side to drink and chat. Then a lady came out with a face like thunder saying they were closing in 5 minutes.( thinking why did you serve us then) She reminded us once more, hospitality is not her thing. So we left our drinks.. We got our car; she waited with her cones. Very odd; rude experience.

Great find great food a must visit friendly staff

This was a halfway point to meet up with friends for Sunday lunch. Had been pre covid and the meal was lovely. We knew that it was no longer a carvery and was now table service. A waitress came to our table very quickly, no greeting just "what do you want to order?" We asked for the menu but was told there wasn't one and she reeled off the list of roasts available. As we hadn't got a drink we asked if we could order them first, none of the 4 drinks ordered were available, 2 of us just had water in despair. The food came fairly quickly, barely enough veg for 2 people and was hardly cooked, roast potatoes weren't crispy at all. The plates with the meat were stone cold. The meat and Yorkshire puddings were the most edible part of the meal. Won't be returning.

Souless and empty atmosphere, nobody else eating and it was a Friday evening. We felt very awkward there. Very low quality food. It was just about edible and thankfully the prices were reasonable. The decor was nice though, but seems wasted as the place was empty. Won't be returning sadly.

Booked this pub for my birthday drinks, they were shut on arrival with no notice to the party nor myself. Broke a pint glass and they banned me for life. The owners are rude and aggressive towards customers and I would recommend staying as far away from this pub as possible.

A really lovely pub with very welcoming and accommodating staff. A perfect and secure place to stay with the motorhome. Large grassed area with night lights for the dog to exercise. A very comfortable safe place for an overnight stay

Booked a table for 8 ppl at 1.30 for carvery. Turned up they then came to our table to say u need to come for your food now as there is hardly nothing left. They had no roast potatoes very very little meat, no gravy. And the lady behind the carvery unit was very rude and when cutting the meat she then used her hands to pick up the meat. It would be good if ur a vegetarian as there was a good selection of vegetables on offer. They then put mash potato on our table which was smash with a lump of butter in the middle and that was cold. Very very disappointing will definitely not be returning.

Went for a carvery today arrived around 1pm and when going up to get food was told they had basically already run out of meat after 1 hour of service. wasn't much veg out, beef was very over cooked. other meats were lovely though. They have no baby changing facilities at all which in this day and age is ridiculous! Couldn't really tell who was working there and who wasn't either to be honest.

The place is never open. Used to be a really nice place with live music and real atmosphere. New owner couldn’t give a stuff. One of several pubs he owns and has run into the ground. His massive expensive tax dodge Bentley sits outside yet he can’t be bothered to open the place.

We drove past and both saw the board outside advertising 2 steaks for £25. On our way home we stopped and was pleased to hear the food was still being served. Very friendly welcome, considering we were very casually dressed as not planning to go to a restaurant, The staff were all very kind and chatty. We had a rump steak each and it was so tasty, perfectly cooked, and the right amount of chips, peas and mushrooms. It was unplanned but we will definitely Go back. Thanks very much 😊

Called in on our way home for an evening meal. Quiet night for them but the food and service was excellent. Enjoyed the food that much, forgot to take a photo of the main, but the empty plate says it all!

Went for a carvery on Sunday. Table very sticky. Food not great. The meat was nice but the roast potatoes were hard and inedible and the veg was underdone and tasteless. Nice glass if wine though but will not be revisiting any time soon.

Seemed ok,clean and tidy.A place you go for a quiet drink with a couple of friends or partner or enjoy the carvery in the spacious restaurant Me and a couple of friends popped over whilst visiting the steam fair opposite and found the landlady and female chef very polite but the landlord a bit of a geezer who has not realised saying please and thankyou to customers is polite and needs to learn this and not shouting “nine een pand” at my mate when asking for the money for our three drinks and without a please or thankyou when paying We felt guilty leaving after the barmaid politely thanked us for our custom and for returning the glasses but we weren’t going to buy another round of drinks with an attitude like that.

Booked a table beforehand. Told them we had a small dog. She said that's OK. We have a table but not in the restaurant. No problem for us. On arrival we said we had booked. Owner said to barmaid ' they've got a dog ' .You'll have to sit round the back ( at a coffee table ) .We refused. They sat us at a high table with high stools. Food was good and bar staff , but owner's attitude stank. First and last time for us !

Very good Sunday carvery and catered very well for our walking group

Lovely interior, unfortunately that was the only positive I came away with from my experience there.. carvery was ok unfortunately lukewarm .. lady behind bar was rude and not at all friendly.. no atmosphere, staff just gave the impression they didn’t want to be there.

Under average carvery, Meat choice good though beef slightly over cooked, and other meats a tad dry. Veg cooker from frozen and cauliflower cheese tasteless. Puddings were yummy. Good value for money.

Not open 1600 sat 1st April waste of a walk.

I have not been to Red house for years and it has changed so much.. for the better I might add, I would certainly go there again. Unfortunately this visit was a wake but Do you do Sunday carvery please?

We went for Christmas meal,the meal was awfull, my roast potatoes had been warmed up and was hard, vegetables were tasteless and could of done 5 minutes more on the stove, gravy was wishy washy, turkey dry and to top it all off the place was cold none of the radiators where on, the worst Xmas experience iv had by far

Thank you very much to all colleagues on shift during our family Christmas Dinner 17/12/2022. My husband and I travelled down from Scotland to spend an early Christmas with our daughter, son in law, granddaughter and grandson and wanted to treat them to a meal out. We were not disappointed Service was first class. No waiting around between courses and colleagues were polite and approachable if needed. Compliments to the chef also, the meal was enjoyed by all. Went for Xmas dinner with the family. Phenomenal service, food was quick and cooked to perfection. I live in Yeovil and this is my 1st time here. I tell you now it will not be my last. Happy Xmas team xx

The food was good the meat was cooked nice not hard to eat but it could have been a bit hotter and the veg cooked a bit more l know how hard it is to the food hot but overall it was nice

All staff need training including the proprietor. Tables sticky salt and pepper unusable, calery adequate but not Gluten free Yorkshire's or stuffing. Rowdy party made the meal unpleasant children out of control rough housen three boys not challenged by staff. Delivery of desert didn't happen left without plus over charged on drinks as no training for new staff. Sad when there's some few god establishment to eat at.

Sorry to say , I went out with my wife for our wedding anniversary and was looking forward to are meal but unfortunately was left very Dissatisfied, was reasonably expensive which I don't mind but the food and atmosphere was not great! Me and my wife left half of the burger each and chips as was only a dry burger with no sauce , relish or salad only some grated cheese. This was a special night for us and won't be returning.. Bar man was friendly but that's it.

Food was good but Luke warm….what spoilt it was the waitress cleaning the tables next to us with pungent spray whilst eating …the smell was very strong and put us off our meal …a suggestion would be odourless cleaner

A warm welcome and lovely food! Went up for the Friday night fish and chip buffet on Aug 5 at 7pm. Lots of food options (inc a veggie burger done just for us) which was all really tasty. Great value for money and we won't hesitate to go again and recommend to others.

The pub has been nicely refurbished and looks great. We went on a Thursday evening when they do a vegan buffet and we loved the food. The staff are very nice and chatted to us and asked us for our feedback which was nice. We look forward to visiting again although we come from North Dorset. We look forward to tasting their vegan carvery option too :) Well done to the team!

Absolutely fantastic. This pub was just down the road from where we were staying. Went two nights in a row. Food was amazing. Definitely recommend all you can eat curry night on a Saturday. Such lovely staff too. You must try this place 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Got lost on a long journey and tried to reset and start again from the pub car park, had an upset toddler in horrible heat and they made it so much better, invited us in early, gave us free cokes and milk for my daughter and went above and beyond to help ease our stress and where super friendly and helpful.. what a great place and even better people. If you remember us..we made it eventually 😂 and thank you.

Friendly and warm atmosphere on our stop at the red house. Food was delicious and with my sweet tooth the rhubarb crumble and custard went down a treat. Such a lovely location with great intimate feel in the bar area. Met some locals who where excellent company that made our trip even more memorable. 😍👍

Best food I've eaten tried roast on father's Day took my father for a meal and it was beautiful been there 3 times now no complaints what so ever

We stopped at the Red House for lunch today and it was amazing! We had some fantastic baguettes and the beer was great! Not only the food was great so was the staff, they were all so helpful and friendly. The pub itself is very attractive and decorated really well. Definitely will be back!

2nd visit food excellent, staff are really friendly and welcoming. Shame we are only here for a week! Well worth a visit or 2 or 3

Sunday carvery at its best great food attentive staff

Visited as a spur of the moment early on a Friday night. The greeting was friendly and the staff were attentive. Food was moderate but I wouldn't rush back to eat there again. The prices were average and I think it was an average price for an average meal.

We had been recommended to the Red House. Unfortunately our Sunday lunch was not as expected. The vegetables were luke warm and roast potatoes soft. The beef was good with generous portions. I have always maintained that a carvery of any calibre that caters for large groups cannot deliver hot fresh food. Sorry. Will not visit again.

went to the red house for dinner recently. they had a curry buffet on which smelt amazing so we were looking forward to eating. staff were nice. the place looked nice (has had a minor spruce up since its changed hands). they had some different curries which tasted good. also some different thai dishes which were ok (didn't taste particularly thai). however, the next day all of us had a bad tummy. the place was fairly much empty (us and 1 other table only). when we finished our meal and were sitting chatting (was only about 8:30) they started turning the lights off. i guess that was our queue to exit. i don't think we'll be going back. a real shame as it used to be lovely there.

Booked up here as part of a large party 12+ on Sunday 20th March, following a meet up and 5 mile ramble beforehand. Had Sunday carvery, dessert and drinks. Absolutely lovely. Service was good, food was sumptuous and plenty and had more than enough to eat. Choice of sides really good too. I chose combined pork/beef carvery. Tender cuts too. Eton mess and Thatcher's Haze on tap. Just right. No COVID restrictions though staff wore masks and customers optional to use. Busy place though spaced out well so not crowded. All good.

A first for us this evening, and what an absolute 1st it was! A very very warm welcome from the owner, was seated to a very nice snug area, then shown to the dining area, where we had a very nice carvery, a choice of 2 meats out of 4, a lovely selection of vegetables, Yorkshire puds, and roasties. Pudding menu was then offered although declined after a very filling dinner. Complimentary lolli pops were given to our Grandson, who happily helped himself to two more! Thank you Red house and staff, it was a pleasure to dine with you tonight!

Had the carvery here with Westlands Motorcycle Club.. Lovely choice of meats and veg. Had apple pie with cream for dessert. Haven't eaten here for a long time.Food was hot. An enjoyable afternoon.

Quite a shame really, the food is very good, however let down by their miserable and rude front of house team.

Superb food and equally superb staff. Themed food nights are a must. Go visit it wont disappoint.

So disappointed with our time at the Red House today. We booked a table for 13 of us for Sunday carvery after really enjoying it last month. We will not be returning again due to the rudeness and lack of customer service from the blonde girl in the thatchers t shirt that was on the bar and I’m assuming the landlady? When we arrived we ordered drinks at the bar. This was clearly an inconvenience to her, there was no greeting at all. When asked if we could have a little bit of ice in our drinks they were snatched from the bar and ice plonked into them. The food was ok, not as good as last time, they had nearly ran out of all meats except turkey. No stuffing, no crackling. Which isn’t the end of the world, however if you have booked a large table in towards the end of service, surely you make sure you have enough food to provide or don’t book them in at all. Then it came to puddings, we ordered our puddings at the bar and sat back down. 15 minutes later informed that they only had 3 out of the 4 portions of apple pie we had ordered, so one of us agreed to an alternative. However the girl failed to ask what was accompanying the apple pie that was cancelled. (We had ordered 2 with cream and 2 with custard). So when they came out we were missing a custard. That was made to be our fault as she aggressively reads off her piece of paper that we had ordered them with cream. Yes and also 2 with custard. Children’s ice creams were practically soup by the time they got them. We also had to go on the hunt for spoons ourselves. She then proceeds to go back to the bar and moan about our table to the manager. Music was then played out of the speakers right above our table as some form of tactic to get us to vacate the table. The whole meal was just made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I informed the girl and manager how the customer service was appalling and they just did not have a care in the world. No apology just an “ok”. What a shame.

Absutely fabulous. Had my wedding reception there 29 years ago. Food was great then amazing now. Really nice people own this place. Definitely going back.

Warm welcome by the staff/owners it wasnt a bad carvery but not as good as the last time we went a year ago especially at £11 per adult!! wasn't offered any crackling and roast potatoes were soggy not crispy at all, no mash potato and peas were mixed in with sweetcorn which would be nice separate as don't like sweetcorn but like peas.

If you love delicious food & good service, give the Red House a visit, our Sunday carvery and dessert was first class 😋

First visit since new management for a Sunday carvery. Very well run, staff where friendly and professional. But most important the carvery was absolutely wonderful. Couldn't fault a thing Best carvery I have had in Yeovil.

When we got there, the tables were clean and the area was lovely. The waiter was friendly and looked after us but unfortunately it was the food that was a big let down. We ended up booking a table for lunch because the reviews were really positive but our food was not what we expected. We ordered the chicken, mushroom and pasta dish and the 8oz burger. My pasta was really difficult to eat. It had no flavour apart from the off tasting chicken. The 8oz was so full of fat and didn't taste nice at all, we didn't finish the dishes even though we were starving. Im sorry to have left a negative review but unfortunately I would not recommend or go again.
