I love this place. I have been a good few times over the years and it is ALWAYS just the loveliest pub. Always a warm welcome and lovely food. Menu is very good for a Sunday lunch and very reasonably priced. I had a long drive ahead of me and they were kind enough to put dessert in a takeaway container and even then they took effort to present it nicely. I would go so far as saying it is just the ideal Country food pub.

Lovely country pub, convivial host and an incredibly eclectic menu. The Menu Fixe was very reasonable for some wonderfully cooked unusual dishes : curried parsnip soup and a wonderful chicken pie with a twist. Highly recommend, whether you are a foodie or just want well cooked dishes and a pint.

We called at this lovely old Inn set in a village off the main road and enjoyed a glass of cider and were tempted to try the interesting menu for lunch. We both selected from the daily specials. My wife had the whole sole and I ordered the monkfish with Thai curry. The meals did not take long to arrive and we were both very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals which were beautifully cooked, very tasty and enjoyable. We enjoyed desserts and coffees which completed an excellent lunchtime treat whilst we were on holiday. The owner was very hospitable and friendly and the atmosphere and decor of this hidden gem made this a place we will want to visit again when we are in the area. Thank you. Keep up your excellent standards.

A lovely old inn in a pretty village. Sunday lunch is £25 for 2 courses, £30 for 3 courses. Portions are more than generous, and the quality is excellent. Roast pork came with stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, green veg medley and extra gravy. If you can manage a pudding then you have a bigger tummy than any of our party! Outstanding value.

Read and digest! - so often recently we've gone out for dinner to leave underwhelmed and disillusioned at the quality of the meal and the customer service experience. We went for dinner at The Cats Head last evening with good friends, they chose the venue having been before. On arrival there was a relaxed and warm welcome from the Landlord, the menu was varied and interesting and the food which was very obviously cooked to order was of high quality and delicious! we were served by Holly who was so lovely and did everything to ensure our customer experience was first class and memorable. Our overall experience has restored faith in the hospitality industry, THANK YOU! to The Cats Head, we will certainly be returning and will not hesitate in recommending this gem of a place.

After visiting nearby Montecute House, we followed the leafy lanes to find the Cat Head Inn for Sunday lunch. We chose the 2 course option. The roast beef was tender and cooked just right. Plenty of gravy accompanied the yorkshire pudding, and the array of vegetables was wonderful. The STP dessert rounded off a lovely lunch. Very glad we had this culinary experience!

I have wanted to try this well reviewed inn for a while, and we gave it a shot in July when we were looking for a Sunday roast. Booking was easy via email (can call too). Off the beaten track, we parked on the road not far from the inn. Warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our table in the charming, tastefully decorated dining area. We were served by an attentive waitress who was super nice and polite throughout. Proper silver cutlery and an actual cloth napkin are the little touches that set it apart from the rest. For drinks we opted for a medium wine and a cider, wine was lovely and the cider was crisp and refreshing, a great pint. My wife went for the nut roast, while I chose the beef, both cooked really well, as were the vegetables and cauliflower cheese that accompanied it. The menu offered two courses for £25, or three for £30, so we went for two and enjoyed a fabulous dessert with our roasts. Both the crumble and date & toffee pudding were fabulous. Toilets were lovely and clean, wish we’d have looked at the beer garden but didn’t get the chance. Dogs welcome too, with pup snacks at hand. A charming country inn, definitely one we will visit again, keep up the good work!

We cannot recommend this lovely pub enough. The pub itself is a beautiful building in a picturesque village, with an elegant and stylish interior. We always receive a warm welcome from Andrew, the proprietor, which, sadly, isn’t always the case in some pubs. As I've never been to the Cat head Inn, I was going with an open mind. Our visit was a recommendation from a colleague, who has been a few times before. We were not disappointed, our host was warm and friendly - imagine a publican from a cosy Christmas movie, and we were welcomed in, then treated like old friends, once we chose our drinks, we were then shown our table. Within a short while all our guests had arrived, and the staff took the orders, the service was very friendly, and even though all the tables were packed, our food came altogether. The food was excellent, and as there were a few of us, we could see the variety offered, which often can cause food envy, in this case, we did not, as all enjoyed our choices. After each course - and we had three, the empty plates were quickly removed and we were even able to choose a favourite dish, which was not on the menu, as the staff were very accommodating. At no point, did we feel rushed to leave, so the tables could be filled by the next customers. The whole experience, from the logs on the fire, to the candles in the corners, dining at the Cat head, has the wealthy feeling of being taken home, and fed by your family. Definitely recommend this to anyone, in fact, we plan on returning very soon.

Beautiful pub situated in a quiet village. Pleasant greeting, lovely interior. Waited over 30 minutes for first course. I ordered pork, leak and Stilton pie. See photo. A puff pastry square on top of some rustic pork cubes in a creamy sauce isn't, in my opinion, a pie. No trace of the leeks and no flavour of Stilton. I mentioned the puff pastry issue to the landlord who said 'I make it clear on the menu that it's a puff pastry lid'. No you don't - see photo. 'I sell a few of them. Thats good then. It is generally considered that a pie is a pastry casing with a sweet or savoury filling and sometimes, but mot always, a crust. Other than that, the food was pleasant enough and the atmosphere convivial but I'm not going to hurry back. Shame.

If I could give six out of five I would! I love this pub. Always a warm welcome, both from the landlord and the wood fires! Excellent local beers and ciders, all within thirty miles of the pub. We had Sunday lunch and it is excellent value and wonderful quality. If I were to split hairs, the roast potatoes could be improved upon as they were very tough around the edge, and the chocolate mousse was sadly inedible as it was liquid and with grains of something in it, but I every single other item was faultless. Starters were all served with light and fresh salads well dressed and main courses were well cooked and with great sides, particularly a very good cauliflower cheese. The landlord and the waitress who served us were really friendly and made an already perfect pub just that little bit better. Worth the biggest diversion from anywhere even vaguely near to visit here!
