The Red Bull Pub/Restaurant in Tonbridge and Malling

We went lunch time and it was quiet.So we chose to sit in the bar area ( if busy next time we will sit in the restaurant) window area could have done with a clean but on the whole it looked lovely and clean and well maintained. .We chose the set lunch menu plenty of choice.The food was well presented and tasted lovely . The tiramisu was to die for 10/10. I would recommend for a reasonable priced special lunch date .Worth a look & try .

Great place for a Sunday roast with family and friends.

Went to the Red Bull for Sunday lunch for the first time today was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome food service and atmosphere can’t fault it would definitely recommend

Quite underwhelming!! We don’t eat out too often but I worked the restaurant business for 16 years and even the basics were lacking! I tried to book online at first, but it only offered me an outside option with garden menu, the weather wasn’t great so I called them and instead was told an inside table was available. When we arrived the place was empty, out of 10/15 table only one table was sat to eat!! We had arrived early for a drink and were told that’s fine you can sit at your table but we can’t take your food order until 8pm (our booking time) I couldn’t understand this when the place was empty but hey they must have had this reasons? The only other people sat near us had major issues with their food and service, they promptly complained and left. Our food was nice ( not great) as I have read in other reviews, everything is served in individual bowls! What happened to serving food plates? Does this make it Gastro? Or just a pain! I ordered Sausage and Mash but when it was delivered I got chips, no mash to be seen and nothing said. Staff - I felt sorry for them to be honest. 3 young and clearly inexperienced staff members who looked like rabbits in headlights. No structure and organisation The table next us who left after complaining was not cleared away for over an hour and still hadn’t been cleared away by the time we left ( poor) Who manages this place??

Steak was cooked perfectly. (Oyster mushrooms were a bit bitter. I personally prefer shitaki mushrooms). Would like a bit more of the garlic butter with steak (Butter addicts ). Chef came out and asked how is the food. Which showed that chef is proud, what he does Service was good too. Polite, Friendly and chatty staff. Only one thing we didn't like - filthy glasses. They all were covered (inside and outside) in limescale. It looked like they weren't cleaned for years. This seems the biggest issue with most the places these days. No one polish any glasses or cutlery.

Visited on a wet bank holiday lunch and ended up having three courses. It's an old pub and the decor is that mixed style where nothing seems to match (it's hard to tell if this is just what it is or by design 🤣). Service was friendly and timely throughout. Our food was really good and definitely beyond expectations. I had the asparagus and crispy duck egg, Guinea Fowl and then the burnt Basque cheesecake. It was all lovely and the presentation was superb. Prices were pretty decent too at about £85 a couple with drinks.

A nice "Gastro" pub worth the title. Excellent service, A variety of meal options and combinations. We went for the 2 or 3 courses for £20 or £25 respectively. Good tasting quality food. 4 people with drinks and%10 service charge included in the bill about £144.50 . I thought it was reasonable. Didn't book. Just turned up on Saturday. Parking was ok. About 20-25 spaces and could seat about 40-50 comfortably.

Food, service spot on, we all had starter, main and desert, it all was absolutely Delicious, definitely come again, when visiting family down south.

9 plus 1 for Friday night birthday celebration. Staff were very attentive. Food was excellent. No complaints from any of including the chef in our party. Will definitely return. Thank you to everyone for looking after us so well.

Th waitress was excellent, we arrived before they opened. Waited for a little and they opened a few minutes early to allow us to get out of the wind.

A very disappointing visit here today for Sunday lunch . The service from the staff was good but the food was awful , the roast beef was very fatty , undercooked parsnips , greasy potatoes and a big pile of red cabbage which had this weird taste that I can’t describe. We were offered a jug of water for the table and the jug was absolutely filthy, also my husband used the toilet and said they were not clean at all . Definitely would not recommend and will not be returning. Such a shame , was looking forward to a nice lunch out but was unable to eat it .

First time visiting today we hadn’t booked but managed to get a roast for two on the spot absolutely delicious roast will definitely be back

We had a fantastic Sunday roast at The Red Bull. The food was delicious, and we loved dining in one of their cozy garden globes. Definitely dog-friendly too, which is a bonus.

Looking for a lunch on a dready weather day we found The Red Bull. An old pub, quiet as we arrived. We ordered the food, French onion soup followed by rump of lamb, both were very tasty and well presented. The waiter was friendly and there was a friendly atmosphere. A lucky find for us, hope to visit again and definitely recommend.

During a conversation with a stranger was recommended here. Warmly welcomed. Great atmosphere. Nice staff. Excellent food. Great choices from multiple menus. Had a lovely Sri Lankan Cashew & Squash Curry and was very nice indeed. The Steak one of our party had looked excellent quality and perfectly cooked. Reasonable prices. Will definitely revisit

Lovely local pub. Great drink selection. Child and dog friendly with amazing staff. I didn't eat there but was told by a regular that the Sunday roast is a goodun. When I was there they had a cinema viewing as well. So check their calendar for other events they have on.

What a lovely Steak night we’ve just had.. sooo tasty..My husband is French and very particular on how he likes his steak cooked.. He said it was perfect..Bravo Le Chef…Service impeccable.. who could ask for more !!

Would be a 3.5 if was an option. Like this place and ambience, plus always serving decent beers. However roast was below par, cold meat and not enough veg. For £18 that's inexcusable.

Roast was nice and flavourful and adequate portion, not gut busting, but could have been a little hotter, staff polite and helpful, nice cosy pub. Probs a little pricier than other roasts we've had in other pubs but not extortionate,

Lovely little village pub, staff are lovely and friendly and quick to serve you. Food was 5* cooked beautifully and we left very full. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

My partner and I stopped here on our way back from a walk and had the prawns to start and two steak burgers for our main. Food was gorgeous and drinks were great - ice cold during the day. I can't fault the food here nor the service.

I really wish they had more vegetarian options because we would come more often. At the moment it's the last place we consider because I have no choice of what to eat which is a shame because it's very local for us.

We were a table of 6. The menu was extremely limited and massively overpriced. It was supposed to be sharing plates. We ordered bread for a starter. The bread came, e had no plates on the table so we had to hold onto our bread while buttering it and hold it in our hands as there was nothing to put it on. For main sharing options, there was one chicken option, 2 fish dishes and a beef dish. The beef steak was £70. We were told it would feed 4 of us. When they showed us the size of it we knew we couldn't justify spending that as it would only feed 2 people. We ordered 2 chickens and a plaice. That cost £99. We had to order separate side dishes. We ordered broccoli which was supposed to come with anchovies, there was literally 1 anchovy. Grilled baby gem lettuce which was vile. We also had baby potatoes which were the only potatoes available and we had to have to lots as there wasn't enough for all 6 of us. When the main course food came to the table there were no plates to dish it up to, no condiments and no salt and pepper. We did get plates after the waiting staff all started to wonder off and we mentioned that we didn't have any. We had dessert and that was awful too. The cheesecake was burnt, the Eccles mess was disappointing. The chocolate torte was tiny. All deserts cost £8. The food was bland and just very mediocre. None of us left happy or full. We were there for a special celebration and it was awful. We won't go again and we will definitely tell people not to bother. I could definitely cooked the exact same meal for a fraction of the cost and guaranteed flavour. Don't go!

Cannot fault the lovely young ladies who served us, really sweet and friendly but the food was appalling !! Probably the worst roast dinner I’ve ever eaten. Found the rope of the pork belly in our food (the pork was horrible - zero crisp anywhere). One huge carrot, one huge un-cooked parsnip and yellow potatoes which I have no idea how or what they were made in. Honestly even pointing out the rope and we were not even offered a single thing in return. The globes are ok ish.. for £30 - not at all with it - they were full of bugs and the setting was dirty Overall extremely disappointed. Sorry 😢

Really good Sunday roast, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was great. My two little ones shared a child's portion and they loved it too

Update 7 May 2023. Sunday roast, 2 x lamb. 1 turkey child half portion. Tap Pepsi and a bottle of prosecco, £79 with gratuity. 👍 Vegetables lovely, stuffing, a bit synthetic and tasteless, beautiful Yorkshire pudding. Saved cooking on a Bank Holiday. Thankfully this pub has been totally transformed with new management and a lot of money spent. 😊 Live around the corner from pub in Eccles, it's now beautifully decorated on the outside, predominantly white with black logo. New outside area with heated pods for hire, for all year round use. Cocktail classes, special events can be used in them. Garden table area under cover also. Rustic interior with real fires. Had lunch yesterday. Sept 2022. 2 starters, bread, mains and 2 bottles of prosecco, total £164. Food was very good, service just a little slow considering it was practically empty, but very friendly staff. We will be returning. Dog friendly.

First time coming here, lovely little country pub, girls behind the bar were lovely! Made a delicious cocktail for me. Me and my partner had a roast, I had beef and he had lamb… the portions were hugeeee! But oh so yummy! only a 10 minute drive for us so I think we will definitely be back. Partner said really good range of beers on tap, and they have so many locally sourced guns (I wish I was a gin drinker - but I might give them a go! ) thanks for a great first visit

Lovely Sunday roast with friends today. Big portions with lovely flavours. Two of us had the vegan option, which was the butternut squash with veg and roasties and even plant based stuffing! Chef also made us plant based Yorkshire’s which was a nice treat. Would highly recommend, nice atmosphere and staff were friendly! Thank you Ella and faith, and of course the chefs for a lovely afternoon

Great little village pub, nice selection of beers, ciders and spirits (including some interesting local infusions). Menu looks well rounded. Dining area is larger than the pub area, but very nice garden with some pods. Parking available but quite small, although parking on the street is free.

Food and drinks are very expensive for a pub, but a nice atmosphere , had to keep asking staff for service !

Popped in for lunch, warm welcome and good service. Food was excellent. Will definitely be popping in again

The food was absolutely revolting. I ordered a buttermilk chicken of the kids menu to be save .Three words it was raw. My friend ordered a dark forest cru crumble, and it was absolutely just bad berries that you’ve kept in your fridge for seven weeks. I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone which does not want to be poisoned. I’ve felt horribly sick after this appearance, and I will never be returning.

Nice pub but the sole veggie option on the menu was pretty poor. £14 for a butternut squash curry that would have probably been better had it been a microwave meal. Will not be returning for food at any time. They have gammer ray on draft which is a redeeming point.

My potatoes where not cooked fish good but tiny portion will not rush back chief not at all bothered when l told him don't no why he asked

What an amazing place. Great service! The staff here are absolutely incredible. Made us feel welcome from start to finish. The food was sensational. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

The staff were fabulous and the meal was 5star, have eaten in many restaurants over the years and the chef here is outstanding, had seabass , and sirloin steak was melt in your mouth, would highly recommend this restaurant, lovely beer garden, and outside pods for privacy too.

Visited at the weekend with my family and enjoyed a lovely meal at a good price. The lamb for a main was to die for and our waitress Laura was a delight! Nice interior and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Went here for a wake on Monday, they don't normally open on a Monday but opened. Food was amazing aswell

Just called in for a bite of lunch today, first time we've ever been- the sandwiches were amazing and can't wait to go back and try an evening meal there!

Fantastic dining experience. Table for 3 booked on the Thursday steak night. The Bar manager Liam and the waitress Rhi were very attentive, friendly, and offered an excellent service. Great selection of drinks, including a local guest ale which was very much enjoyed. Bottle of wine included with the meal was a lovely touch. Chef Michael and Chef Garrie cooked our food to perfection. The presentation was amazing and everything we ate tasted delicious. A big thank you to Chef Garrie who went the extra mile with the birthday girl's dessert. The added touches and the candle really brought a smile to her face. Extremely well priced for the quality of food. We will certainly be returning again for another meal soon! Thank you very much Liam, Mr Rhi, Chef Michael, and Chef Garrie for an excellent evening and a memorable birthday dinner! - Mrs J.P

First time at the Red Bull, & what a delight. Staff were friendly and helpful. Menu was fab with lots of seasonality, & the food was delicious. Excellent selection of drinks to choose from, including lots of local producers which is always nice to see. Will def visit again.

This is quite a nice pub, but obviously struggling... £5.20 for a pint of cider..I mean, really...!! I will not go back here as they don't seem to realise that there are other pubs out there that don't take the mickey.

Sausage and mash, mash was actually decent and creamy (not the traditional smash most pubs use). Sausages were tasty and a good size. Was very enjoyable and such a rustic feel to the interior. Will definitely go back

Lovely pub and amazing food. The staff were so attentive to our every needs and made the whole evening really enjoyable.

We popped in for a hot drink. I couldn't see anything on the menu that I would like. The owners are friendly. But it a very meaty menu. It's a hard area to survive in so you need to cater for your regulars. The pods in the garden are an excellent idea. Very forward thinking.

Service was very slow and lacked enthusiasm. Not a lot of atmosphere in the pub. Salt and pepper squid was the worst I have had and very tough. Husband had prawns to start which had to be skinned. Asked for a finger bowl and a bowl of cold water turned up. Won’t rush to return.

Superb eating with great ambience. 7 meals all cooked to perfection. We eat there on a regular basis and it's been great to share the experience with our friends who also have commented how they enjoyed great food.

Generous cheese and meat platters. Beers had a good selection. Lovely lunch. Interesting for an evening meal at some future date.

Had a pod in the garden lovely evening until desert the chocolate gateau had cream that was defo off and all we were offered was to take the 2 gateaux off bill

My husband Alan and I visited the Red Bull, Eccles on Thursday 12th August 2021, to sample their steak night and I must say we were not disappointed! The interior has recently been refurbished to a high standard, but keeping the character of the place. Adam and the team made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble, and the food; oh what can I say about the food.... it was just so so good! The choice of 3 different cuts of steak offered were unusual. We both had different cuts and each steak was cooked to absolute perfection, extremely flavoursome and super tender. Our desserts were made by their specialist dessert chef and were superb! The attention to detail throughout the whole meal was amazing. If you ate a meal of this standard in the city you would pay fortunes! We would highly recommend. We will definitely be returning very soon. Food was ok but needs attention to the detail, the additions could be improved- cauliflower cheese too watery, red cabbage too sweet, stuffing very hard, detail that can be improved with practice. Otherwise great venue.

Can highly recommend the Sunday Roast. Big plate of lovely food. Couldnt leave any as sooooo tasty and beautifully cooked. Staff friendly and attentative. Lovely old fashioned village pub. Will deffinately be going back
