We have been twice to the Rose & Crown recently for meals, first for Fish & Chips on a Friday then for Sunday Roast Dinner. Both were excellent - if I had to choose then I would say that the chicken parcel on Sunday was just my favourite. Good beers and excellent service as well!

Visited The Rose & Crown yesterday for a Baby Shower party in the on site Old Barn. Nice Shepherd & Neame pub. Very well kept & clean. The Guiness was superb & the staff very helpful & friendly. The barn is a great venue for a party of up to 60 people. The real fire was great for atmosphere & taking the chill of a typical spring day. Will use again.

My friend and I had just completed a 25 kilometre walk along the Pilgrim's Way and were meeting two friends here for birthday drinks (it was his 50th birthday...) and to watch the rugby - England v Italy. Unfortunately, being tired and in need of a drink, I forgot to put on my facemask before I walked in.... As we walked in there was was a huge, angry shout of "Maaaask!!!" from what I assume were regulars watching the rugby. I was also in the way of the television screen, so I ducked into an alcove near the bar. In the meantime, the landlord(?) had rushed round the bar to confront us. "Didn't you hear them?" he asked aggressively. I said that I had, but that I thought the way they had reacted was aggressive. He then started getting angry and raising his voice, talking about "rules" and "regulations". He came quite close to us. I then asked him to stop being aggressive. He then told us to leave and went away. I turned round and spotted our friends on the other side of the bar, which was (perhaps unsurprisingly) deserted. They were drinking a bottle of wine that they had been allowed to buy. We went over to update them of the situation. The landlady(?) then came over and, quite politely, explained that they wouldn't be serving us. She said that they had had "lots of trouble from people not doing what they were told". My friend apologise profusely (I thought) , but this was not accepted by the landlord, who stayed behind the bar. After a few moments we made to leave and passed the group of regulars. One customer said something to me as I left, but I couldn't make it out clearly. My three friends were following. As they passed, several customers said"f^ck off, you tw@ts!", "Get out!", "Go on, get out!" and one laughed: "you won't be coming back here again!" I was relieved to get out, truth be told. No doubt, the landlord might say that if I had worn a facemask upon entry, none of this would have happened. Maybe. However, for him to have created such a hostile and aggressive atmosphere is, in my view, unacceptable.

We live fairly locally but had not eaten here before. We ordered 3 Sunday roasts, a fish and chips, a burger and a kids sausage and mash. The food was fabulous. Could not fault the size of the portions or the quality. The meat and gravy were delicious and the veg was beautifully cooked. The fish and chips was enormous and looked great too. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and would definitely recommend. We had to wait a bit for the food to arrive but as it was a lazy Sunday for us it didn't matter and the food was well worth the wait. It was great to see this place so busy. Definitely a testament to the food served.

Our booking was 1445 we arrived a few minutes late but not to worry the food was delayed. When it arrived my partners was lovely a good portion and she enjoyed it. Mine sadly had unwanted gravy and wasn't the rare beef I asked for. They managed to sort me out fish and chips the chips were hot and well cooked the fish batter was nice but the fish itself was a bit overcooked. To the places credit staff were lovely and really helpful (Not the man who insisted on standing blocking our view of the rugby despite it being pointed out to him that he was in the way) the gentleman behind the bar was really nice and refused to let us pay anything for my lunch. It would be very easy to write a nasty review based on my experience, but no one us perfect and they are nice people and recognised and apologised for their failings with good humour too.

The Rose and Crown is located in a quiet high street in Wrotham. We had a lunch booking for Father's Day. It started well we arrived and parked easily in the on site car park. The pub has a nice rear patio, on entering the pub we we greeted by a friendly guy (I think he was the landlord) we had a slight issue which is that they are not current accepting Open Table Bookings so if you booked with open table call to confirm the booking yourself. However they had a table spare and offered us this table. We sat and within about 2 minutes we had menus and drinks. They have a small Sunday menu but still have something to suit everyone. The specials were all roasts. We all had a roast I had the Roast Striploin of beef it was delicious, the gravy was especially tasty (often I find the gravy feels like an afterthought, not today) The veg was well cooked and the Yorkshire pudding was perfect. The kids meals were great, fresh mash , homemade cod goujons and good quality sausages. The portions were a good healthy size, you would not have wanted any more food, especially not if you want a dessert. Sadly the only downside for me was they had run out of crumble. The coffee was great and freshly made by the landlady, my wife had the chocolate brownie which she said was delicious. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive, it was a great day. I would happy return and would recommend the Rose and Crown to anyone

This is the first time that I have been for Sunday lunch since the (relatively) new landlords took over at the beginning of May, though my wife had been with a friend a few Sundays ago. Her main complaint then was that the meal was too large! So, John & Karen - the licensees - suggested that she had a 'young persons' portion. It was a perfect size and the beef was cooked to her liking. I had the pork belly and I can honestly say that it was the best pork belly I have ever had! The final, pleasant, surprise was that the bill was lower than expected as the beef came at a reduced price due to the smaller portion!

Great local pub and staff are always friendly. They do some classic pub food served very casually - no gastro prices here! Sports are normally on but there's places to sit away from that if you like. Pool table at the back too. There's also some great local history which is worth looking into, especially if you're interested in world war 2. A spitfire crashed in the rear garden and some relics from that are on display, and a plaque dedicated to the pilot is above the door. There is a detailed display about a German Heinkel He111 bomber (serial number 3233, V4 + KL of 3/KG1) which crashed nearby stocks green and was displayed in the front car park to raise money for the spitfire fund during the Battle of Britain
