We held my parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary meal at the Roseate Hotel in Reading. Yousra and Romina in the Events Team could not have been more helpful in booking and organizing this special evening. They and all the staff on duty for our meal really did go that extra mile to make this a truly memorable evening for all the right reasons. Thank you so much from my initial enquiry, through to the last spoonful of food and the final drop of wine.

Had a very lovely afternoon tea at the Roseste on Sunday afternoon. The food, service and everything was excellent. Recommended.

This used to be where you could get great quality food and wonderful service. Now, oh boy, how it's changed. The staff have no clue what they are doing. The food orders are incorrect, the service is so bad it is insulting and no-one seems able to achieve anything.

Saturday afternoon tea, restaurant wasn't busy. Service was adequate, certainly not exceptional with moderate waits to be seen by a member of staff. The room felt a little dull, and was slightly cool. My mother thought the distressed mirrors looked as though they needed cleaning, not sure they added much to the room. We chose champagne afternoon tea, bread was a little thick with not enough filling. 2 scones per person made it all feel too bready. Petit four cakes were nice enough. Wouldn't go back.

Poor service as the servers took forever to check on us. food portion is very small for the value of money and ambience is poor too. Don’t recommend - waste of time & money.

We went to the Roseate for a champagne afternoon tea (a present from our son). We had a superb afternoon tea with champagne and had a wide choice of speciality teas. Would really recommend this to anyone in the Reading area. The staff were very polite and attentive and the surroundings were very comfortable.

Three of us had a business lunch at The Reading Room today. Everything was outstanding - food, service and ambience! It was a shame that we couldn’t enjoy the interesting wine list - but we had to work. The restaurant exceeded expectations and is thoroughly recommended!

Wow!!! What a dreamy evening. My husband and I visited for the first time last night and felt we just had to leave a review! We both had the tasting menu and it was out of this world!! Every single course was devine, not only did they look sensational they tasted out of this world!! Can’t wait to return!! Had already been looking up the Afternoon Tea.

I treated my cousin to lunch at The Roseate as it was her 60th birthday. We had two waitresses who were very attentive but not intrusive. I had mentioned the birthday when I booked and as a result my cousin was presented with a slate with the most beautiful ‘Happy Birthday’ calligraphy in chocolate I have ever seen! The food (from a lunchtime set menu) was delicious and beautifully presented. We had a non alcoholic cocktail and it tasted so good, we didn’t even notice that there wasn’t any alcohol in it! We are very lucky to have The Roseate in Reading. It really is a beautiful hotel ideal for special occasions or when you just fancy a treat! Yes it is a little more pricey than some chain restaurants but you really do get what you pay for - good ingredients, imaginative flavours, all beautifully presented with discreet, attentive service and nice loos! What’s not to like?!

This is a fine dining experience which delivers on flavour and service. It is not cheap (see photos and prices) and the portions are expectedly small for a fine dining experience, but the flavour is superb and you can taste the high quality of the ingredients. I had never had caviar or a souffle before - so it was a great experience and treat. The service is easily the BEST I have ever experienced in a restaurant - the waiters and waitresses are quick to remove dirty plates and then provide the next course, they are so attentive and precise. Even when the souffle took 30 mins (which they were upfront in warning as about), we timed this and it was 28 minutes precisely. Thank you for a lovely experience.

A delightful afternoon tea. The selection was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was superb, especially from Ross who really went the extra mile to make our visit a joy. Well done and thank you.

We had the wine paired 7 Course Tasting menu. Service was good and the wines were lovely. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming. The pork belly did not look fresh cut and was hard and dry. The Monkfish was very overcooked and had a mushy spongy texture. All dishes were beautifully plated but besides the pallet cleaner, lacked that “wow factor”.

We went back to the Reading Room after being given a return booking after a less-than-satisfactory experience. I must thank Simon and his team for his expert handling of this, I can think on one hand the number of restaurants that would have gone that far. We had the tasting menu and the flight of wine. It appears to be the same menu from our previous visit which was in October. Overall the food was good, my only comment was that the pickled vegetables with the rabbit terrine needed some extra zing to be truly pickled. The beef course was nice and the confit carrot was tasty, I have never tasted one before. The chocolate delice was a nice ending. Overall good food and good service. Once again, thank you for your great level of customer service.

We booked a festive lunch for our family, who were visiting us for an early Christmas Day. The booking process was smooth and friendly, with preorders taken a couple of weeks prior to the day. When we arrived, we were delighted to see a private area for us. Our table was laid with crackers, festive novelties, and our pre ordered soft drinks ready for us. All the staff were friendly and attentive, without rushing us. The food was delicious, with each course presented well. We had coffee and teas with fresh mince pies to finish. I’d definitely recommend booking The Reading Room for a special occasion, we are so glad we chose here,

An absolutely wonderful experience . I had a problem with booking a meal to celebrate my son’s, ( and his girlfriends ) masters graduation . A member of staff ( Simon I believe ) contacted me by phone and booking was sorted - and what a surprise - secluded private seating area , which we were taken straight to on arrival even though we arrived 25mins early ! Service , staff, food was all fantastic .The gentleman who helped me with the booking also came and introduced himself and checked whether everything was fine . Really , so impressed . We went for afternoon tea in the Reading room, to celebrate a birthday. The food was impeccable. The selection of teas gave us plenty to choose from and they were excellent as expected. Probably the most expensive restaurant in Reading. Read the menu carefully. The wine sharing course has no food, and the food sharing course has no wine. So you are looking at 300 pounds for 2...ouch, but very good atmosphere

After reading previous reviews I booked a table for dinner to celebrate my son’s birthday.The restaurant was very busy with a large function , this in no way detracted from our enjoyment , the bar staff were very professional and service was excellent .We enjoyed some of the best cocktails we have ever had before being seated in a private area so as not to feel overwhelmed by the larger party ( nice touch thank you ) The wine selection was interesting and surprisingly good value . Every single plate of food was beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed .My personal favourite was the lamb main course which was just fabulous . Every element of our evening exceeded our expectations . Thank you to all the staff for their hospitality and a thoroughly enjoyed evening .A lot of passion and hard work is needed by the whole team to produce this experience .
