We don't normally go out in that area but we were visiting friends who said The Reach had just re-opened and they had heard good reports. We had a totally excellent Sunday lunch - roast beef with all the trimmings - crispy roast potatoes, greens cooked just right etc - and hearty portions. My only regret is that I was too full to eat pudding! Highly recommended.

The bar area itself looks very clean and stylish and I won't hesitate in taking friends there when I am entertaining. The prices were what I would expect to pay for good food and beer in any London location and I will definitely be back soon for seconds.Well done guys and thanks for making yesterday a success for us. I first came here in September with my girlfriend for a Sunday roast and was very happy with the food, the service and the price. After being closed for a few months, and a few attempts to go back for another roast, we finally got seated in a not so nice seating area and felt unwelcome. The "new menu" sign outside was welcoming and inviting, but soon walked straight back out once I saw the price had nearly DOUBLED for near enough the same meal we had five months earlier. This bar and restaurant is the only convenient and nice in the Gallions Reach area and am seriously let down by the attempt of rising prices by a ridiculous amount just to attract a different clientele. They have completely destroyed it for me personally, by completely changing the nice, comfortable, and mostly affordable restaurant it used to be, and for certain won't be going back.

Stuck in the middle of a load of new apartment blocks in the less trendy bit of Docklands, this nice old building doesn't look like a great pub - but it turns out it bloody well is! I worked 5mins away for two years then went here on our last day - the staff were great, beer plentiful and the interior new school old school charm. Brass and wood and retro lighting. The food looked great on its way past our beer laden crowd too, but didnt try it, so can't comment.

There's a distinct lack of good restaurants in this part of East London - From East Ham to Royal Docks they are rarer than a full moon. So imagine my surprise when I discovered a well kept secret " The Reach " - True East London faces tell me that this was an old seaman's rest and it has a secret passage-way to the water. Intrigued I had to visit ! - It's now been basically modernised - It lacks something in décor still but its on the right path. Let's turn to the most important aspect - The Food ! On this score it deserves a resounding ten. I went on a Sunday and the choice was Sunday roast or Tapas - Limited but specialised it is. This was a fab roast - it had all the elements that a good roast needs - great meat, choice vegetables and tasty tats - and a bonus none of your watery insipid gravy - joy oh joy - thick gravy ! coupled with fabulous bar staff - the Northern Guy is a great host ! The Reach deserves to be sampled and its secret deserves to be discovered.

This is the only remotely decent restaurant in the area, and coincidentally is absolutely fabulous. We went for Sunday evening, being too lazy to do anything at home! What a pleasant surprise. I had the monkfish on the specials board, and it was beautifully cooked and presented. My partner had the standard Sunday roast. Initially he ordered pork, but by this time they had run out of apple sauce and (more importantly!) crackling, so he opted for the chicken instead. There was also a beef option. All the food was excellent, and the service very friendly. There is a limited range of wine, but we had a white Rioja which was excellent and not overpriced. We will definitely be back.

Firstly I would like to say the food is absolutely delicious but due to the completely chaotic service I cannot rate it any higher. The actual pub is gorgeous and we were extremely lucky to have a room to ourselves for our booking of 13.Ok now for the bad points. The wait of over 1hour 15 minutes is unacceptable. 2 of the adults and 2 of the children had to wait even longer to be served meaning most of the party had already finished their meals. There didn't really seem to be any reason as it was not busy at all. The food itself is lovely particularly the roast chicken which is huge. I didn't get a chance to sample dessert which I was disappointed about. I would really like to visit again and hope the next time my review will be more positive.

Me and my partner live in Beckton and have recently discovered this place. The reviews are pretty good so we decided to see if it did Sunday Roast which it doesn't say on the website. We took a drive to it yesterday and it had a sign outside advertising sunday roast and the place looked really nice from the outside. On further investigation we could not find anywhere to park, all the roads were either double yellow lines or permit parking. We found one area with about five cars parked up that looked to have no restrictions and drove around for quite some time without the spaces freeing up. We were in the end forced to find somewhere else to eat. There is a major lack of good pub food round our area and we were very disappointed at having to drive away. I wondered if there were going to be any plans to put in a car park ? It's quite a walk from Gallions Reach station and we weren't the only people driving round and round trying to find parking. It would be a shame if the place didn't survive because of this problem

I recently tried this place after a recommendation by a friend. It's very smartly kitted out and had a great vibe on the evening, with some good live music to boot. Had the bruschetta to start which came in a different style to how I was expecting it but a great interpretation and could well be one of the best I've had. For mains my lamb was cooked perfectly and I was impressed by the size of the portions. Unfortunately this didn't leave me any room for dessert which was a shame as the menu looked very tempting and those I'd seen served to a neighbouring table did look good. Being a "local", I have loved this wonderful old building all my life and was excited that after years of laying derelict it had finally been brought back to life with a very nice refurb job.I have visited 3 times since it reopened - the 1st time for drinks on a warm Friday evening spent mainly in the outside area, which was nice enough - there was some live music, the staff were pleasant but the service was very slow - we had a good 10 minute wait for cocktails even though the bar was not particularly busy that evening.I liked the look of the menu and returned a few weeks later for lunch in a party of 6. The food was generally good - the mixed starters and main course dishes of duck, mussels, fish & chips and pasta were all very well cooked; however the 2 roast dinners were awful - tough meat, incinerated (deep fried?) Roast potatoes and an odd choice of vegetables, and on this visit we were seated in a very noisy spot and again service was slow, there being a very long wait for our main courses. My most recent visit was again on a Friday evening for drinks. On this occasion the place was extremely busy and buzzing and the live music was so loud it was impossible to hold a conversation, let alone get served a drink , so we left.Overall, I think The Reach has some very good food, although I really couldn't recommend the Sunday roasts. Would I visit again? Yes, maybe, but at a quieter time.

I came to this pub with high expectations because I had seen the good reviews on trip advisor, and it's not far from my house. Positives - decor nice, food all sustainably sourced, bar is in a great location due to no competition and plenty of flats nearby.Negatives - unfortunately my food was cold. Also, the burger that my boyfriend ordered was meant to be medium rare but came well done. Service not great (pushing us to order even though it was quiet, then a wait for the bill), and the men on the table next to us were becoming loud and obnoxious, nobody kept them in check.I do want to give the reach another chance, as I did go on a Monday perhaps the chef is different then, or was having an off day.

We've been going to the reach for a while, and it's been great, the service may need some improvements as you have to wait a long time to get served. The food is excellent, and in large portions. We went there yesterday for a drink and the beer we usually drink was unavailable, so we decided on wine and soda after being told that a small glass with soda was £2.95. After the first glass, we were in the place on our own, with no sign of any staff, it took 15 minutes to get served. We had 2 drinks each and asked for the bill, expecting it to be £11.80, but it was over £17. When we questioned it, we were told that the soda was £1.40 for a small bottle, meaning we had to pay £5.60 for less than a litre of carbonated water that other places don't even charge for. We couldn't even check thus as there is no price list on display, which is actually a legal requirement.Sorry guys, but we won't be coming back.

Don't get me wrong I've eaten seafood all over the world. Southend, Margate, Leigh-on-Sea to name but a few. But if you like your crustaceans (sp?) and molluscs REALLY fresh, then you really do need to get your fish-loving behinds down a place they call the Reach Bar and Kitchen, a newly opened little gem of a bar/restaurant just a squid's tentacle away from Gallions Reach dlr station. Now don't get me wrong the old left eyebrow always raises a sixteenth of an inch to quote dear old Pelham Grenville whenever the missus mentions oysters, and while they turn me on roughly as much as Janet Reno does, they remain simply my favourite foodstuff, especially alongside a nice drop of Gaja Barbaresco. Ok they might not stock the Gaja but governor and poker pro Jimmy Akenhead, renowned for his balls at the table, has certainly got a firm grasp of his grapes and this is a wine list just incomparable to other public houses. But anyway back to the seafood. Of course she ordered the oysters thinking more about the steamy night ahead (well she's not made of wood is she) and these were the most delectable little beasts I've ever had. We also ordered the prawn starter and I can honestly say I've never tasted fresher or tastier, and the portion was very generous aswell.Reading on the menu that all seafood was taken daily from Billingsgate fish market, we elected to stick to the fish theme for main and with everything prepared and presented wonderfully by head chef Mikel Choplain it became clear that this really is one hell of a find.See you there next weekend, if she ever lets me out of bed.

We managed to get a great booth just the right distance from the live music (an excellent guitar/vocal duo). The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and provided a memorable meal. Apparently they have a French chef who they'll be lucky to keep hold of if our experience is anything to go by. One piece of advice - arrive hungry; the portions are big!Overall, a really good spot which will be even better in the summer when they can make use of a large terrace looking over the water in this historic part of London.

We are staying at The Aloft London Excel for four days and we didn't fancy the menu or the prices at The Fede (hotel restaurant). We found The Reach on Trip advisor and it was only a 10 minute drive from the hotel and for all you car drivers the resturant has allocated car parking spaces at the front. Essential as it's permit holders only around the area. The scenery of the bar was really chilled and there was live singer who was amazing at performing. We were served by the young blonde waitress wearing red lipstick and we regret not asking her name. She was funny and down to earth and found the humour in my brothers being really picky with their order. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. There is a small varied selection but something for everyine. I recommend the pan fried prawn noodles.. they were not skimpy with the prawns. For 4 main meals one starter and 4 drinks it came to £54... pretty good!We are staying in London for 4 days and will definetly be going back.

This is a great new place to eat well and catch a drink. The finishes inside are excellent and with the lighting gives it a modern and cosy feel of an evening. The staff are great too, very friendly and welcoming. There is the usual selection of drinks available however the spirits selection is more vast then you would expect with good quality spirits on offer at reasonable prices. The food was good too, I had the roast chicken which was a good portion size and really good value. Will be making this a regular place for my weekly roast. Looking forward to the summer now and being able to catch a few drinks outside on the patio and watching a few world cup games on the tv's.

Having lived just yards away from the Gallions Hotel (now The Reach) for 18 months, I was really looking forward to seeing what the new owners had done to it. I first went on New Year's Eve, which was great as we got to sample canapes and get a feel for the atmosphere of the place. It has been stylishly refurbished, and the staff are all incredibly welcoming. I soon went back for an evening meal with family, and we were all hugely impressed by the quality of the food and level of service. The portions are more than generous, and very reasonably priced. Will certainly be having more meals here over the next few months!

Having lived in the area since 2012, I've often thought: what a shame that there is no quality food within walking distance. The opening of The Reach realized my longing for a nice, comfy`place in the area. The food is truly to die for - excellent menu! The staff are exceptionally nice and very open to suggestions. There's nothing better than having a nice quiet meal with some wine after a hard day at work. The Reach rocks!

All my friends in the area have been raving about the Reach so i thought I'd see what all the fuss was about . A beautiful building and the decor inside is fantastic , all dark wood and comfy sofas . Then came the food ! I only had a burger but it was the best I've had anywhere . The chef is a genius and the owner James really made us feel welcome and they show sky sports to boot .Top top place !

Pret A Manger at London City Airport: A Disappointing Pit Stop 🚫🍽️ If you’re passing through London City Airport, save yourself the trouble and avoid Pret A Manger. What should be a quick and convenient bite turns out to be anything but. 😩 The tables are left dirty and cluttered with trays, making the place feel chaotic and uninviting—hardly what you expect from an airport café. 🧹 The seating area is cramped, with spaces so tight it’s difficult to move around comfortably, especially with luggage in tow. 🧳🚶♂️ It wasn’t until after we had started eating that an employee finally came to clear the tables, but by then, the experience was already soured. 😒 As for the sandwiches, once known for their freshness and flavor, they’re now a sad reflection of profit-driven cost-cutting. 🥪 What used to be generous, tasty portions with quality ingredients has turned into bland, uninspired creations that lack any trace of the care they once had. It’s clear that Pret A Manger has lost its way, prioritizing margin over customer satisfaction. 💸 Thankfully, there’s more choice at the gate, where you’re likely to find better quality and service. 👍 If you’re looking for a satisfying meal at London City Airport, skip Pret A Manger and explore other options that won’t leave you disappointed. Your time—and taste buds—deserve better. ✈️👎
