We love this pub, it has a wonderful ambience and the staff are lovely. However, the service could be improved - we waited a long time for meals after we ordered. Also, we found the portions quite small. Such a shame because, otherwise, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We had heard some bad reviews about the food under the new ownership, so we decided to see for ourselves. We had been to the Rams a lot under the previous landlord and it was good. The food now was better than I expected but it was cold, we had Sunday lunch the portions were great, sometimes get overwhelmed with the amount of food, this was perfect. If you a have a big appetite, do not have the Sunday lunch. We both had a pudding which was also barely warm. The service was good, staff lovely. Buy we would not go again. Need to up their game, lots of competition these days, there are some great pubs with excellent food in Warrington.

Brilliant little place! Took my mate Lewis Binks for dinner and our server Tom was a well mannered and very helpful young lad! Pubs need more people like him these days! Poured me the best Guinness I’ve ever had as well!

Great bar & service. Food was great, the Mrs stated best roast in looong time! & it was. New favourite Sunday lunch location.

We visited the Rams head today for Father’s Day Sunday lunch. We were looking forward to it as it had been advertised recently saying the pub was under new management and had been refurbished. We arrived at 3pm at the time we had booked our table. We waited for approx 10 mins expecting some service, but nobody came to take our order. My husband and son went to the bar and ordered drinks and meals for 4 of us. They were informed that a member of staff should have been over to take our order. After an hour we still hadn’t got any food. The table next to us hadn’t been served either and they had ordered before us. They decided to leave because they were fed up of waiting. We asked how long our food would be? We were informed that one of the chefs had phoned in sick and they were running behind. However we couldn’t see anyone around us eating either. We were told our starters would be approx another 20 mins. None of the staff came over to ask if we would like another drink while we waited or to explain that there was a delay with the food service. At that point we decided to leave and go somewhere else! This was disappointing as it was a treat for Father’s Day and we couldn’t be certain we would be able to get a table anywhere else on what is normally a busy day. The other issue was the set menu. We asked if a few of us didn’t want a starter could it be swapped for a desert instead? Apparently that was not possible, as the till wouldn’t accept it. Therefore we would have to pay for a starter that we weren’t having! I would not recommend going to the Rams head. We definitely won’t be visiting again! We had high expectations but sadly our experience did not live up to it. We left and called in at the Choy Hing Chinese restaurant in Grappenhall. We managed to get a table for the four of us. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. They were extremely busy but nothing was too much trouble! Within a couple of minutes we had been offered a drink by 3 different members of staff. The service was efficient and friendly by every member of staff. We had a lovely meal and enjoyed celebrating Father’s Day. Thank goodness for the Choy Hing!! Don’t bother with the Rams Head. Avoid at all costs.

I have read the negative reviews here and this was probably why it was surprisingly empty on Mother’s Day. I have to say that the service was excellent, speedy and generous with extra gravy etc to accompany our delicious Sunday roast. The food was hot and fresh. I have only marked it down slightly due to my lamb shank being a little fatty but that is sometimes the luck of the draw. Well done to the serving staff and kitchen.

Dreadful..just dreadful. Very slow chicken that was dry i couldnt cut it. A kebab with cold chicken on a cold piece of bread.it took so long for it to be served

Recently had daughters 21st celebrations. The staff as always were amazing,attentive and professional. They catered for our every need. The food was delicious and nearly all of our guests commented how lovely the spread was. Never disappoints. 😉 Tracey and Martin

Unfortunately this place is not improving. Tables not cleaned, staff not interested in picking up litter all over the floor near the entrance, gents toilets not cleaned, beer of poor quality. We sat on a table with used glasses and plates that we had to move, took another 30 mins for them to be removed from the adjacent table. A torn up number of black napkins strewn all over the floor were ignored time and again by staff, who just walked over them. It could be such a good pub, but as usual it’s the only place in the area which is empty, I wonder why…..

Brought my mum for lunch for her birthday. Not too busy as it was early but fast service I ordered cheese onion pie and she had fish and chips both very tasty and decent portions. I would come here again staff were friendly and efficient food was really nice.

Expensive lunch, food not warm. Special requests ignored. Waited an hour for food. It's a shame as very busy but could see everyone fed up. Wouldn't eat here again.

Been here with lads previous for food and xmas drinks used to be good, our meal was awful small portions food awful, never going back here , shame nice pub and location, management should be ashamed of them selves

Visited for Christmas dinner. Both the food and service were fantastic. So much so we're thinking of going again next Christmas. Staff couldn't do enough and there was lovely Christmas atmosphere. Very enjoyable afternoon. Recommended.

We were out walking in the area and decided to drop in for a drink on New Year’s Day, all looked very nice. We were then “greeted” by a lady behind the bar that was less than engaging and suggested there was no space in the spacious pub for the 7 of us to sit. We didn’t want to eat, no help to suggest where we could sit except we could sit outside in the rain! Thanks for the accommodating attitude , we took our money to the pub down the road and spent our £300 in the Parr Inn

What are disappointments we have when we have busy. It was like going to McDonald’s. The service was appalling. Was Band why would anyone go there? Bill was expensive, but with friends with us, I will never go there again.

Based on the pictures shown on the website and menu discription, I went for the Butter Curry... Very disappointed, fragrant curry sauce with winter vegetables which I added the Blackened Cod. I got a badly seasoned curry sauce with Mushrooms and Butternut Sqush, (never had mushrooms in curry before ) and four or five small pieces of fish. I like mushrooms, but if you don't that's what it basically was in a curry sauce which I wouldn't class as "winter vegetables" and was most certainly nothing like the picture.

Staff was lovely always making sure we were okay and food was great would recommend to any family’s.

Booked table for Sunday dinner at 4pm. Waited ( as always) for waiter to get drinks. Had to go to Bar. Waiter comes to table at 4:15 and says there’s a 45 min wait. He returns 2 mins later to say it’s a one hour wait for food. It’s not a la carte. We’re regulars there, but no more. We can choose from 10 local pubs and they don’t bother calling us to say there’s a long wait. Shameful. We left, never to return.

Visited for the first time today. Lovely looking pub and fairly busy when I arrived at 2pm. Sunday Roast was tasty - and plenty of it - and the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I was served quickly and I noticed some other large parties who also appeared to get their food without having to wait too long. Prices weren’t shocking at all, for a pub that must have some pretty big overheads. Nice location, clean and welcoming interior. Main course could’ve been everso slightly hotter but then maybe I have an asbestos mouth. I’d definitely go again.

Food ‘looked’ great when it came out, apart from the Sunday roast with the extremely overcooked cold beef - looked as if it had been sat there all day before it had been served. Chicken kebab tasted like the worst perfume flavoured processed chicken I’ve never had! Politely complained to the bar staff who dealt with it perfectly - assistant manager appeared looking us all up and down with her very poor and unprofessional attitude as if we shouldn’t have complained. Will NOT be returning.

We popped in this lovely looking village pub a few weeks ago for a drink. So decided to try it for a roast dinner with the family. Food was appalling, the roast beef which was advertised as served “pink”, yum just how it should be, was grey and extremely over cooked. The burger came so burnt it was black on both sides so was sent back, half hour later was still not brought back! The chicken flatbread tasted of perfume. When we spoke to the assistant manager (Francesca) who was more interested in petting the dogs ( hopefully she washed her hand every time she touched them, who knows)🤷‍♀️ was very condescending and rude, and walked away whilst we spoke, had absolutely no customer service skills at all. Would NOT recommend this place. The rest of the bar staff were very nice and helpful, the assistant manager should take a leaf out of their book. I have had to put one star review as wouldn’t let me post. BUT I ACTUALLY WOULD OF OPTED TO PUT NO STARS

Oh dear never again unless vast improvements are made It took over 45 mins for food to arrive and the place was not busy. When it did it was just average at best. It’s the staff and service that were dreadful. Except for one waiter the rest were dire. We had to ask for everything at least twice and then ended up going to find staff to get what was required. Not cheap either Such a shame as it is a lovely pub

Pretty bad. Waited 50 minutes for food ordered just before 6pm, so not busy. Sad spectacle of a meal with a tiny portion of cold chips. Eaten in just over 5 minutes. The napkin filled the chip basket more than the chips. Go somewhere else if you are hungry and don't want to age prematurely..

Lovely homely atmopshphere. Great beer (Beavertown neck Oil) and fantastic food. Me and my wife both had roast dinners and both commented on that they were probably the Brest roast dinners we've had in a few years. Could 100% recommend.

Unfortunately the food is just poor. Had a simple steak&Ale pie, that was so poorly cooked I only managed one bite.. It's expensive and please don't waste your money eating there. Also a long wait staff serving the meals never replaced cultry after starter, or offered condiments,, very young inexperienced staff, but they are friendly Staff holding the fort ,were apologetic..

Very limited menu. Ordered the beef & ale pie, it’s was the worst pie I’ve ever had. Soggy tasteless pastry, 3 pieces of beef which was like shoe leather and the gravy was congealed jelly. This was mentioned to a member of staff who went to speak to the chef but never came back to our table.

We had our daughters after party for her christening here today. Absolutely amazing! They set up all our decorations and the food was brilliant! The staff were wonderful! Definitely would have another celebration there. The communication throughout was amazing.

Very dissapointing food. Thai curry had no taste at all. Chicken kebab was cold when arrived so sent back. When it arrived back looked like it had been put in the microwave as the plate was warm but food not much better. Burger not worth the price paid. We eat out at a lot of different places but this was not one of the best. On the plus side i did tell the staff and they gave us a discount off the bill.
