Went there expecting Sunday Roast but chef and menu had changed to Pies and Pizzas. Extremely small dining area but cosy. Fabulous staff the two young guys went above and beyond to please us 👏 Overall a pleasant experience but was only there for the food and the menu is extremely limited. N.B. Sports Pub... Best Thai food I've had. Two can eat for around 20 quid. I visited on a Tuesday and I think this is Thai night. Cheaper (and better) than cooking at home. I will be a regular for sure. Well done

I can not rave about the Thai food in this place enough! Authentic Thai cuisine by a lovely Thai Chef. Homemade chilli oil which was fantastic. You must try it! Good portions and one of the best and most authentic Thai meals I've had outside Thailand! 😍😍 We had starters and mains for 3 people £25 per head including 2 pints and a coke! Fantastic. Staff are lovely and friendly. Highly recommend.

A city pub shoe horned into the countryside. Simple fare took an hour to deliver on a quiet afternoon when the bar was nearly empty. When it arrived it was edible but not exciting or even interesting. The beer garden is squeezed into a corner between three buildings which lost all the sense of "outdoors" from it. TV was out here too and despite everyone ignoring it, the volume was up. The approach promises a secluded haven, the reality is quite different.

I have to say this was a very poor experience today. I have never been to this pub before and often passed it thinking it looks quaint and pretty. We thought we would give it a try for lunch. We walked in and initially thought it was closed , we saw 2 customers and proceeded to the bar. The decor and environment is tired, shabby and uninviting. We asked if food was being served and a bar tender told us just pizzas today. I’m not a big fan of pizza but thought we would give it a go and ordered 2 pizzas and drinks, seeing as we had made the effort to drive through the bumpy entrance road and we were very hungry . We waited over 30 minutes, and after a second drink asked the other bar tender who had been staring at her laptop for nearly the entire time , where our food was. She replied they are heating the oven. We patiently waited another 10 minutes. One pizza was served. At this point we were so hungry we shared it. It was bland and very ordinary, like a frozen pizza with more cheese and jalapeños than any other of the ingredients. We waited 5 minutes for the second pizza, at this point I approached the staff member and said we would like a refund for the second pizza and we wanted to leave. I explained the service and experience was extremely poor. She then told me the pizza was ready but we decided to proceed with a refund of the second pizza and leave. There was no hospitality today, no courtesy or check in or apology on the wait. Your staff were not busy but did seem to be making excuses. Unprofessional, poor service, food was inadequate, long waits, poor environment and I would go so far as to say the person who I complained to seemed to have an attitude, saying have a good day as we left. Money is precious during these difficult times but so is time. Time is precious and to spend it like this, is disappointing to say the least. You must do better. If you are in the business of hospitality, please be hospitable and provide a decent product and service.

Absolutely lovely Sunday lunch at the Ramblers rest. Came with friends and two of us had the roast beef one had the vegetarian option and one had roast chicken. All cleared our plates entirely. Then we had delicious puddings and enjoyed them all, the Biscoff cheesecake was exceptional, and the helping of apple crumble was wonderful, it was such a nice touch that the chef Kevin came out to ask if we had enjoyed it. The waitress was absolutely fantastic, didn’t get her name, but she was so friendly and welcoming, highly recommend and would go again.

Unfortunately the worst Sunday lunch we have ever had. Staff were excellent but the food was not. 4 adults and a 2 year old. Very limited choice on the menu and most items they had run out of. Ordered some pasta for the baby which came to the table still frozen in the middle, was not expecting to get a frozen kids meal, was expecting a healthy pasta dinner. Also Ordered 4 Sunday roasts which weren't great either, under cooked hard vegetables and luke warm. Apparently the normal chef was not in so I can't judge by his cooking. So be aware if you want a frozen reheated meal you will enjoy it,but if you want a freshly cooked dinner then this is not the place.

What a wonderful little pub. I’m not from the area but found this place on google for my Grandmothers birthday meal, she is extremely fussy and ate every bit! With generous portions, cooked fresh and great value for money, I can really recommend the food here. Our servers were young but highly attentive and welcoming. My only small fault is the bumpy road leading up to the pub, and the pavement outside which sloped and in need of a patch-up, it was a little tricky for my 91 year old grandmother and she needed support to get to and from the pub to car.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 'first proper' meal stay (approximately 2 hours 14.40 to 16.40pm) at this charming little historic grade listed 17th Century Kentish Inn on Thursday 28/7/22. The relaxed quite atmosphere allowed us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to staff Ben, Abi, and Kevin 'the chef'. Kevin, we thoroughly enjoyed the interesting conversation with you about the hospitality industry, your a 'true gentleman' and an excellent experienced chef. The very best in our reckoning! The food delicious and service of the highest order, par excellence....hither greeted by three fabulous warm friendly, professional and engaging people to make this a wonderful memorable visit. I remember visiting here before in the 1970s; today by comparison I found the old traditional inner surroundings uplifted and blend so well around the bar - general dining area layout, ready to embrace on entry. I like the decor and cool blend of colours of the walls etc. the furniture and floor space all very cosy and chic. Also very clean and hygenic throughout - toilets too! A quaint little garden situated at the rear awaits you as you walk via the dining and bar area. At the bar, some traditional beers are on tap here, one of my favourites Adams Southwold Ale. I suggest weekday afternoons probably one of the best times for quiter relaxing moments. I do recall from the past the Inn very popular during visiting times evening and weekends. The Inn car park restricted (possibly about ten spaces maximum?), but beware as you approach Mill Place (immediately off Old Hill B264 / junction Bromley Road A222) - a very steep narrow downward bumpy lane (with potholes!...) as you approach the car park which is tucked away in a small grassy bank and dell below. But, an Inn definately worthy of a visit any time of day. I find here today a friendly cosy Inn ideal for couples, whether small groups of friends or family, or even alone to bide your time. This renowned local landmark stop point makes perfect for any rambler en route via their journey through nearby Chislehurst or Petts Wood Commons. Thanks so very much Ben, Abi and Kevin. In reality with my thoughts, this Inn is all about you in essence. Keep up the excellent work here at The Ramblers Rest, my wife and I will ramble return to your retreat sometime in the future - definately 👍 yes! My very best regards and well wishes to all three of you, thanks for all your kindness and generosity, Chris.

What have they done? Football blaring out of TVs everywhere you look. Interior redesign seemingly done by an IKEA intern. Probably the worst pub I have ever been in. Definitely so in terms of the promise of the exterior and location, versus the massive disappointment of the soul-sappingly awful, awful interior. So much bad taste. Decent pub with a sheltered garden out back. The pub has multiple TVs showing a variety of different sports, which can be intrusive at times. Seems to cater for the budget end of the market, with beer and wine options that reflect that. Decor is clean, but bland and very grey - which is a shame as its' status as a historic pub would really suit a quirky olde-worlde style interior. Food is good and the new Chef is doing his best to introduce new and exciting items to the menu. A good pub that i will visit again for sure, and with a few changes it could be a really great one.

Went to Ramblers Rest for lunch. Chosen for its location which doesn’t disappoint; very picturesque. Had we gone just for a drink, the review score would have been higher. However, as a lunch destination, I wouldn’t recommend; limited choice menu, nothing looked or tasted as if it were made fresh, in-house. Bought-in frozen chips, frozen onion rings, caterer factory burgers and buns. The meal was edible but barely average quality - burger van quality without the value for money. Even though we booked a table, there was no-one at the bar when we arrived and made no effort to show us how to get to the outdoor area. The Rambler’s Rest promised much but delivered little.

I've driven past this pub for 12 years and thought how cosy and nice it looked from the outside, but due to work and keeping to appointment times, I have not been able to stop before and I'm not local. Finally I managed to actually stop and go in. What a disappointment. The person that has taken this, what should have been, great pub and absolutely stripped the guts out of it and replaced it with nothing, should not only be in prison but should be banned from keeping pubs for life. I hope that their tenure of this pub is as short as possible so that someone with some character can take over and restore this pub to its former glory. Unfortunately I had to score this a 1 but I wanted to give it nothing, which is what it made me feel inside. Staff were friendly though.

There is no one way system in place -no table service -you order at the bar ,they accept cash, they do not insist on taking contact details-there is a clipboard on the bar which you have to find and only one pen! People are crowding around the bar even sitting in groups at the bar .The tables are not a metre apart and there are large groups in there (who wouldnt move when you had to get pass them and were going from table to table kissing each other hello). Having visited this pub last night I was very disappointed. The staff are friendly, helpful and eager to please. Unfortunately the pub has no atmosphere. Our table was dirty (and therefore not sanitized). The menu was from Sunday, and it was Tuesday night. We ordered a steak and salad. The steak was ok but the salad was tired and all of the lettuce leaves were tinged brown. We did mention this to the barmaid who assured us she’d tell the chef. But there wasn’t a follow up. This pub is situated in a lovely place it’s such a shame that our experience was poor to say the least.

If you can stand all that and find a seat it's not the worst pub reasonable (Pubby) appointed... But unless you want to wade through the bland menu the drinks are same old.youre just thinking I want to get out of here and go!

Lovely looking pub, supposedly Darwin was a regular here. Kitchen listed on here as open until 5pm in a Sunday which makes sense as Darwin house closes at 4pm. We arrived at 4.10pm to order two Sunday roasts and told the kitchen had closed by a surly barman. Pretty rubbish. Atmosphere was a bit dead inside. One large sports screen on. Drink selection at bar uninspiring. Nice looking garden space and parking available round the rear. Very disappointing visit.

The festive pie was fantastic. Go there if you love pies and good service. Also a good old pub vibe. There are good walks nearby too.

Please save your money, food was overcooked and chewy, overpriced for something that tasted microwaved.
