Excellent food with attentive and helpful staff. Staff cognisant of food allergies and the need to pay attention to customers worries. For a Monday night, the place was buzzing and a great atmosphere to enjoy good food.

Nice meal but got the bill they added £20 service charge said on menu 10% service charge for tables of 6 and more so if you book for 2-4 people no service charge very sneaky to charge people should have the right to tip what they want not be forced to do it

This was our second visit to this indian as it was so good first time round. Can I just point out that what they served us in the form of Mixed Pakora was 2 small pieces of chicken pakora and 2 small veg pakora which they charged us £8. Daylight robbery. There was salad on the plate but we ordered pakora not salad. We come from Glasgow where you get at least 3 of each plus mushroom pakora for £6.95. We both ordered biryani. It was nice but the sauce had potatoes and carrots in it. Have you got a new chef?

This is a great restaurant, i have been coming here for over twenty years. Today i had a take away as i now live on my own, and the food is fantastic, its all about what you are used to , i have had some terrible food in glasgow, Edinburgh, and elswhere, so all you negative reviewers folk, if your not happy you havent lived.. and go somewhere else that serves s#%t .

I love the rajah because no matter if your picking up a take away or sitting in the staff are so amazing, everyone is polite, lovely and so helpful. Food is so reasonably priced and the quality is always great. This is my fav take away in inverness.

Best indian food in a long time, cant rate it highly enough and really great staff. This place was recommended to me by a local. He wasnt wrong, food was really good and of great quality. Plus it's a really nice place. Being located in a basement keeps the worst of the Scottish winter at bay.

Worst experience since I have steped my feet in this beautiful country. Too much racism towards Indians while most of the staffs are Indians. All curries tastes same, nothing so tasty to be so proud of. I hope when the staff members goes to have food somewhere they get treated similar way for being an Indian.

This will be the first and last time I'm visiting this place. Even though staffs are Indians, I felt so much rasicm toward us. Such a unpleasant welcoming and we felt so much insult. They should learn how to behave and treat customers. If any Indians are looking for authentic food please stay away from this place. This is not the place for you. Don't see the good reviews and fall in this trap (they really don't know what is real Indian food) there are lot of good restaurants they serve good food and service.

Ate here on Wednesday night and was pretty busy . We had poppadoms , onion bhaji , veg pakora , then chicken tikka biryani and a chicken bhuna with pilau rice . We shared a garlic nan . Everything was really tasty and fresh , the bhaji was so crispy and the nan so light and fluffy . Chicken was moist and great flavour to the curries . Had 2 pints of cobra and 2 perroni zero and was £75 . The portion sizes were good and staff very friendly and efficient. Left pretty stuffed and will not leave it so long between visits the next time . There’s been a couple of poor reviews recently and it nearly put me off but we had a cracking meal and would definitely recommend.

We have always gone to this Indian Restaurant when visiting Inverness, but were slightly sceptical having read recent reviews. We needn't have worried; very welcoming staff, extremely busy restaurant, great food as usual! Really not sure about where the negative reviews came from! Can't wait to go back! Lovely chat with the staff, especially as they alleviated our concerns when they heard us chatting about he negative reviews!!

Christmas outing ... expensive!

Booked in here for a friend's birthday after being disappointed by another restaurant, The Rajah not only accommodated us, but did so efficiently, the staff were absolutely fantastic, the food was amazing. I always enjoy going here, its cosy and the staff are always welcoming.

Staffs are friendly, restaurant is great for occasions. I was craving for Onion Bhaji and it did not disappoint! Briyani is a bit bland but when eaten with curry it's delicious. I would visit again to try their other dishes.

It was my first time, but it certainly won't be the last. Very tasty food and friendly staff on the phone and face to face too. I'm looking forward to tasting their meal again.

We had dinner to celebrate my sisters birthday. The food was delicious and the service excellent. They came out with a dessert and candle on top, singing happy birthday! It made the evening very special. Thank you 😊

Rahah was a big surprise for me. Loving Indian food and when I was Inverness ... just dont believe to find a good indian food There .. I was totally wrong. This restaurant its very very good ! For my part take a vindaloo (this one was a little tomatoes, and this is a variety very welcome). My girlfrend took a jafrelzi. The 2 plates were just perfect. The ambiance its very cool, very luxery place, nice people. One of the very good place in the World to eat excellent indian food . And you know I passed more then 150 country ... This restaurant will keep in my memory for excellent food and good people !! miammm

Booked a table here recently as we had friends visiting us for the weekend. On arrival met by the most grumpy, miserable unpleasant man behind the bar. He looked like he’d rather by anywhere else than here!!! (Trust me I can sympathise as we felt the same after the food)!! Mains arrived lukewarm, but we were so hungry and didn’t want to make a fuss. Hubby’s beef madras was watery and not very good. My chicken dish was ok but have tasted far better. My friend had lamb which was inedible - chewy, full of gristle and just awful. And here is where the staff showed their true colours! I complained stating the obvious as the lamb gristle was on my friends plate. He became very rude and patronising and point blank refused to apologise for the food. He was then informed we wouldn’t be paying for a dish that was inedible. He became even more rude and sarcastic so we asked for the bill to leave and cut our losses. At this point an elderly couple seated at the next table - who were clearly regulars as they received excellent service and we’re having great fun with the staff - decided to become involved and told us to “f%+k off out the restaurant” and became threatening towards us for complaining . The atmosphere was vile and I’ve never been subjected to such a torrent of abuse in my life. The staff just stood and laughed and did nothing to intervene. Shows the quality of clientele this establishment attracts, clearly no manners and etiquette and dragged out the gutter with language to match. God help any tourists visiting this place. It is not a true reflection of the people or restaurants of Inverness. There is a far superior Indian restaurant called Sam’s opposite this place where the food and staff are first class. Go there instead and avoid Rajah like the plague! Finally - the toilets are revolting. Gents must be using the ladies as there was urine splashes all over the pan and cubicle walls.

Thia restaurant and its staff are against Indians from the word go. Staff is unfriendly, unwelcoming, racism in every action and talks, arrogant to the T, an extremely anti-Indian restaurant and putting Indian hospitality to shame. They used swear words against us when we tried to tell them our views on their unkindly treatment. Food quality is average. They have some unheard of rules. They are egoistic. I hope no more Indians visits them.

Tasty Indian food and courteous staff

Arrives before the evening rush, the service was prompt and from the range of food (kurma, chicken tikka, chicken biryani, etc. It was delightful. By the time we left it was packed. Reasonable prices too. Excellent meal.

Excellent food, king Prawn chilli garlic was delicious, my wife also loved her veg mughlai, garlic naan was lovely, all round spot on meal.

This is as basic as it gets. The curry lacks depth. The rogan was utterly simple, basic tomato plus a few pieces of cut up tomatoes, not happy and not going back to this place.

I've been visiting the Rajah since I was a child in the early 90s - A curry was a Sunday night staple for my family during my childhood. We moved to Australia in 2006 and visiting the Rajah is a must every time we return to Inverness. In the ever changing world we live in, it is such a comfort to know that the Rajah has remained as wonderful as its ever been. Today's visit was no exception, we were treated to an excellent meal, just as incredible as I remember it being, with quick attentive service, for a very reasonable price. I've done a lot of travelling, but the Rajah's comfort and consistency, is why it remains my favourite restaurant.

We went for a big family meal and they were more than happy to accommodate, the food was great and all the staff seemed friendly enough.

My favourite Indian restaurant in Great Britain, bar none! It opened in 1972, the first in the Scottish Highlands. I first ate there in 1987 and have continued to visit whenever I've been in Scotland. I last visited on Tuesday, 18th June whilst holidaying on Skye, and it was well worth the train trip from Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness. The food is delicious and plentiful and the staff discreetly attentive. One of the best highlights of our trip.

We love visiting this restaurant when we visit Inverness. Our recent visit was lovely, staff always welcoming upon arrival. Bar staff are very friendly also Great choices of starters and mains to choose from Mouthwatering Currys that make you return again and again.

I’m currently working away from home in Inverness. Two of my work colleagues and myself decided to have a night out with something to eat. I randomly chose the Rajah as our meal stop and what an excellent choice it was. It was a Wednesday night and the venue was full to capacity , showing it’s popularity. The service was attentive and friendly from the moment we arrived. The restaurant itself is tastefully outfitted and the atmosphere cosy. When the food arrived ( which wasn’t long) the portions were generous! The flavour was excellent. The only minus was the heat ratings for the dishes. Each of us had expected more heat from our selected dishes. Besides that I would highly recommend the Rajah for anyone wanting an authentic tasting Indian meal. We will definitely be returning!

Have been to this Indian a few times and always found it top notch. Sunday evening was no different the staff are always very attentive and the food delicious.I had the Chicken Chatt to start with excellent ,followed by Chicken Tikka Masala with Pilou rice with a Peswari Nann out of this world. My friend had the Lamb Pasanda which looked good but not to taste the meat was tough and of gristle which was a shame as it was her first time there. I will be back on my next visit to Inverness.

A return visit after a long absence but standards are still top notch. Extremely friendly and professional staff make the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable and the food is superb. Vegetable pakora was light, crispy and packed with flavour. Our two curries (beef madras and chicken karahi) were both delicious. Tender and lean meat and spicy but not overly hot. Recommended.

First time in the rajah getting a bhuna with my husband(he’s very fussy). Was delicious and the chicken nuggets were wonderful for him too. Fantastic service too. His name was lee mon and I left him a nice tip.
