Mehmood curry house in Highland

As visitors to the area, we were a little apprehensive to order here after reading mixed reviews. We are so pleased we ignored the few negative reviews; we really enjoyed our food (particularly the korma, madras and saag paneer), it pleasantly surprised us and satisfied our Indian takeaway craving. Our only constructive feedback is that the onion bhaji batter could have been a little less stodgy and the lamb a little more tender. Otherwise great meals all round. Thank you Mehmood’s!

Honestly one of the better takeaways in the area and the only one to offer deliery which is awesome. my orders always arrive faster than quoted and delivery guy is friendly and professional. will be a regular for a long time to come

Got vegetable curry it was basically just greasy peas in no sauce with two small pieces of potato and 3 giant chunks of tomato. Inedible

The worst indian meal ever, pakora overcooked the curry was tasteless and so was the rice! No seasoning whatsoever how do they get away with it!

The holiday let had a menu so we phoned an order through one evening. Told to expect a 45min wait however 20mins later it arrived! Cheerful driver and excellent food. Go on try it.

There isn’t many places this side of the valley for takeaway, tried a pizza from here tonight and was amazing and very reasonably priced.would highly recommend.

Ordered here on our first night''s holiday and collected it, as nowhere seems to deliver to the cottages we use. It was very tasty, piping hot, and the onion bhajees were AMAZING. Will definitely be ordering again on our next trip.

WSe own a guest house here in Kingussie and we use them for our Friday night takeout night as well as having our guests order as well. Thier service is fantastic and they always deliver which has been appreciated. Aleena is always very happy and cheerful. We had a nice takeaway meal for 4 people with a variety of starters and mains which were very good. The portions were ok but just ok I felt but never the less still enjoyable. I would order from this takeaway again.

I don't know about the rest of the menu... but the pizza was tasteless. Even the cheese and tomato was bland, and how you remove flavour from onions I'll never know.

Mehmood's always delivers. Great food, not greasy at all and always flavoursome. Best curries we have had. Service is always prompt and polite. Would highly recommend.

We regularly order takeaway and it's always delicious. Decent sized portions, all the different curry options are great, we are never disappointed. Would highly recommend. Yum.

This takeaway has very little competition for Indian food in the local area and it shows in how little effort was put into the cooking. My wife had a prawn curry which came in a tasteless watery pink gruel. I had a Dansak. It should be sweet and sour, and at least medium spiced. What I got was a sweet tomatoey sauce which was milder than a korma with a few lentils chucked in just so they could call it a Dansak. Can't believe we spent over £30 on this terrible meal.

I've never had Indian cuisine so unflavoursome and watery. I had butter King prawn and the sauce was runnier than soup and tasted of coconut milk and onion. Zero substance and deeply unsatisfying. Not what one is requiring after a hearty walk in the Caingorms.

Five of us had a takeaway last week for my husbands birthday. Yummy food, really friendly delivery, what more can you ask for!

We are staying in Newtonmore on holiday and had a terrific takeaway from Mehmood curry house. The set meal no2 was superb, as was the butter chicken. All freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Delivered by a friendly and polite driver. Best takeaway we have had in ages.

Like previous reviews, we are usually wary when ordering takeaways from new places. However we gave it a shot and ordered 3 different curry’s with sides between us and WOW! Piping hot, fresh curry that was absolutely delicious. Really nice enjoyable meal, with so many choices. Recommend to any one staying nearby! Would definetly return in future!

We have never thought about ordering from here before as 2 of us have ceoliac disease and require strict gluten free meals. When I called to ask all the relevant questions there was no hesitation in the answering. We ordered and received our delivery within 40 minutes. We had a lovely family meal. There is only one issue.......now we know we can eat here I think we may become regulars......thank you mehmoods, see you soon...probably next weekend

Had a beautifully cooked meal last night! All curries execellent, chicken , lamb and several vegetarian curries.

Had food from there multiple times, service is great and they deliver until 10! Always been speedy delivery and amazing food. Would definitely recommend.

We ordered a large amount of food to take away while we were staying in Newtonmore. The staff were exceptional and mr Mahmood even gave us a lift back to our holiday house to save us walking. The food was superb and the order was correct, plenty of food to go round. I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

Decided to stop here for food while in Newtonmore for the weekend. The surroundings were very basic with a few tables which were cafe style. There was only one woman serving however she was friendly and efficient, dealing with take away customers and ourselves. We ordered popadoms and onion chutney which came with four different dips/pickles which were tasty. The chicken pakoras were a bit bland and didn’t come with any chilli sauce and the salad was shredded cabbage with onion and cucumber which was a bit odd. The main meals were delicious and good sized portions. We chose a colcha nan which was really tasty and the nan was thin and crispy-perfectly cooked for our tastes. There is no alcohol served here. Our only real issue was the lack of toilet facilities and when we asked about these were were told that there were public toilets across the road and up a lane, which we had no choice but to use, and it was a dark night which was a bit off putting.

Very nice food. We had Rogan Josh curry, nan bread, rice and jaffrezie and was very delicious. Portion are good size as well.

We stayed in Newtonmore for a week as used it as a base to explore the Cairngorms and after a days walking didn’t fancy cooking so thought we’d try the local takeaway. Now you’re never going to please everyone as we all have our favourite takeaways back home and sometimes when things are a little different some people react a bit over the top and post bad reviews. But this place won’t let you down I had a chicken tikka jalfrezi and the chicken was tender, the peppers fresh and the sauce tasty. Naan bread also good. Ate hear again later that week and tried a chicken naga also good. The lady on the counter is friendly as well. Not as good as my local Indian but like I said before it won’t let you down after a days hiking.

Excellent curries with a variety of vegetables. The lamb was delicious. We would certainly go again.

Had a meal here one evening. Restaurant a little dated and catered more for takeaways but the food was lovely and well cooked - there was no bathroom facilities. Do watch out for the 10% service charge added to the bill which we didn’t mind paying but we paid by cash and the waitress kept our change thinking it was another tip! We did go back and collect our change as we had already paid £7 in service charges.

Although the place doesn't look like it, the food is surprisingly good! We had a curry with lamb and one with spinach! Both really good! Portions are very large so we took a doggy bag home.

This is a great takeaway in Newtownmore, we decided to go for a curry after looking at the variety of options. The service was good and the food was very tasty. We would recommend the dishes of Katmandu and Lal Murg Masala as were both very good. The paratha's were the tastiest we've ever had and we'd wished we ordered more. This place is worth a visit if you are ever in Newtownmore.

We decided to try having seen the mixed reviews, we wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt. My husband had chicken madras that he described as average. I had chicken tikka masala that was very bland , the chicken lacked flavour and tasted watery. We had special rice that was very nice and full of flavour . Would I return ........ No based on tonight’s meal quality, we were disappointed.

We were passing here on Saturday 27th April, read the opening times and realised it was after closing time, although people were just leaving. As they left the gentleman said he would prepare us food if wanted. I stressed we didn't want to impose,so anything easy and quick would suffice. In the end I had a chicken Madras with basmati rice, and it was the finest, most aromatic rice I've had in a very long time. My wife had the largest Naan bread I've seen with a very generous portion of kebab meat. The Madras was tremendous as well. It was very reasonably priced, but the welcome we had in the shop was amazing and I hope they have the great success their kindness and generosity deserve

Visited twice in one week for takeaways. Superb curry of your choice on a pizza. What more could you want, and really fast and friendly service.

I was staying in Newtonmore and found this place with a walking distance fro my hotel. We usually opt for Indian or Italian when we are really hungry and want to eat something substantial. This is a wee takeaway place. I must admit from the appearance I was a bit skeptical but we did not have much options so decided to take a chance. and we were not disappointed. The place does have seating for a few people , I think there was a 4 tables in total. When we went there was a group of 10 seated. We did see a lot of phone orders and people ordering takeaway.

I was staying in Newtonmore with friends last weekend, and on Saturday night we decided to get an Indian takeaway - worst decision ever! The chicken tikka masala was awful - very watery, lacking flavour and had about 6 or 7 small pieces of chicken in each portion. Severely disappointed, I have eaten the same dish from a number of Indians all across the UK and can safely say this was the worst I have ever tasted. The naan bread was also dry and over cooked, and the I don’t know what the ‘mango chutney’ was supposed to be!

We found the takeaway curry from Mehmoods disappointing, given that it was more expensive than we pay at home (near London)! The meat had little curry flavour and seemed to have been added to the different sauces at the last minute. It was not bad, but we expected more, given the price. One thing to note - the portions were big, so 2 people could easily share one main (particulalrly the specials that we went for). Perhaps we should have stuck to the more traditional curries?

Popped in for an Indian when on holiday. Dined in restaurant. Decidedly no frills environment and probably best for takeaways. Service friendly and prompt. Food good value and reasonable quality.

Got a takeaway from this place whilst i was on holiday in the nearby area. I had the chicken masala which was overpowered by coconut and i actually couldnt taste the chicken through the overpowering sauce. So even though i was starving i couldnt finish it because it made me feel queasy.

Came here after the Newtonmore Highland Games and perhaps should have been suspicious as to how quiet it was. We each ordered a chicken dish but the chicken had the strangest texture (reconstituted and rubbery). Despite being hungry, I could not eat mine. Left very disappointed.

3 different pizzas ordered, was told when they would be ready for collection and they were duly ready on time. They were soooo tasty and very big. Friendly staff too.

We had our dinner there being the only Halal option. Small cafe that serves a great warm meal and the service staff helps make recommendations.

The decor is nothing flash, but this is a small village. The food, however, was pretty damn good. Tasty and plentiful - larger serves than we are used to - and the service was spot on. Very glad we decided to have dinner there.

We live in Newtonmore and treat ourselves to a take away most weeks from here and it is always lovely, fresh, spicy and delicious. The owners are really friendly, food is cooked fresh and to order and we have never had any complaints at all.

Nice service, but not the best dishes. Spicy but not tasty. And the aftermath is not describable on an open forum. We will be giving this a mss next time.

First time trying this curry house, will not be ordering again! Lamb rogan josh bland, tasteless, tasted like a microwave meal with a bit of green leaves on it to make it look fresh, definitely not! The grease was dripping out of tray, which has stained my skin and my kitchen work top, even thought I wiped it down straight away. Pashweri naans not fresh, hard on the outside, and bright pink in the middle (?), rice was hard and tasted re heated - and it cost me over £30 for that rubbish, threw most of it away, left hungry and disappointed!!!!

My friends and I stopped by here around 7pm on Easter Sunday after a long hike in the Monadhliath mountains, all desperate for food! We drove by this place earlier so we popped in.

Our hosts recommended Mehmood when we chatted about dining options. Although it is described more as a take away, we sat in at one of the tables available.

Yo era dudosa sobre algún lugar que sirve muchos tipos diferentes de comida, pero decidí probar basándose en los comentarios que había visto aquí. Pollo y cordero balti ordenados y pollo frito del sur para nuestro hijo. La comida era adorable y con un servicio cortés y eficiente. De llamada telefónica para recogida en 20 minutos. No dejes que la apariencia de la tienda te desanime. Sin duda lo recomiendo si estás en la zona.

Stayed in a little cottage for 3 nights and thought we would treat ourselves on the last night and we are so glad we did, beautiful meal and the kids were happy with there chicken nuggets :)

Dined in here with a friend, we had the set meal which was very tasty. Not your usual Asian cuisine, but interesting nonetheless. Would use again if the area. Very nice patron and owner and staff were v friendly.

Muy sorprendente encontrar un auténtico curry house, ofreciendo una amplia gama de pakistaníes e indios, en una pequeña ciudad en las Tierras Altas de Escocia. El servicio era excelente, amable y alegre. No hay licencia para vender alcohol, pero ser. años es aceptable, también cuando reserves.

Acabamos de terminar de comer muy sabroso de este lugar. Un servicio agradable y una buena elección en el menú. Después de un viaje de 7 horas a pie esta comida era perfecta. Arroz verduras lleno de trozos de verduras patatas zanahorias guisantes, etc. y inc la palak (espinacas) curry fue muy buena, con grandes trozos de pollo. No parece mucho desde fuera, pero si estás totalmente equipado y lujoso un regalo por favor probar.

Máquina tarjeta parece estar roto/inexistente, pero hay un punto efectivo enfrente, así que no es un problema.

Don't be put off by the fact this establishment also sells pizza takeaways. The Indian food we had was excellent with generous portions and large naan breads. Note cards not taken but cash point across the street!

Tuve una comida para llevar desde aquí cuando se alojen en Kingussie en julio. El Tandoori grill mixto fue excelente pero primero teníamos la cebolla bhaji entrante con la mejor salsa sumerge minty que he probado. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar ya que hay un completo menú de india.

We recommend the Family Pizza deal. Pizzas were tasty and great value for money. Indian for the adults and Margherita for the kids.

Sólo tenía una comida en este restaurante en el local. Es principalmente llevar pero para satisfacer algunos sentarse en los clientes y no estar certificados están contentos de traer una botella, lo cual es una ventaja.

No he cenado en el restaurante, pero hemos tenido un llevar a cabo muchas veces. La comida siempre es de una calidad excelente, el personal es amable. Yo teléfono en el orden y es siempre listo cuando vamos a recoger. Nos trasladamos desde Aberdeen a vivir en Newtonmore y este es el mejor curry que hemos probado nunca.

On the second night of our weekend away we decided to try the local curry house and were not disappointed, we were really suprised and happy that they said they would deliver out to our location, what a bonus, as it was 8 miles out of Newtonmore.When it arrived it was hot,tasty and as ordered. Nobody had any complaints. A great wee place.

El menú fijo indio es ahora 16 libras para 1 persona y 20 libras por 2 personas con el propietario último así que no es tan buena relación calidad-precio como antes y la comida no ha mejorado. Sería mejor para ver un poco mejor relación calidad-precio y el precio comparativo con otras comida para llevar en la zona. La orden no incluyen Poppodums gratuitas pero el curry no era tan sabroso como habría sido de esperar.

He probado un montón de comida para llevar de varios lugares pero este sin duda gana mi voto es una pena que no viva en Newtonmore porque nunca me cocinar. Yo tenía una dupiaza de pollo y mi pareja gambas Madrás también pedimos una porción de niños de pollo Korma 7.50 para mi hija que me sorprendió lo hicieron porque normalmente currys que tienen su porción tamaño estándar. Pedimos bahjis pakora de cebolla y pollo con arroz y Nan Peshwari pilau. El pollo estaba cocinado a la perfección y el curry tenía mucho sabor y era justo el spice . Los langostinos también estaban perfectamente preparada y mi hija demolida su Korma 7.50 y dijo que deseaba que ella podía cocinar bien ( poco puñetero) los aperitivos estaban el tamaño perfecto en conjunto todo era perfecto llamamos nuestro pedido a las 5 y estaba listo y esperándonos en 15 minutos pasando 5 . Los precios están muy bien y se obtiene lo que se paga. Mi familia y yo sin duda volveremos y lo recomiendo a cualquiera que fancys una buena comida para llevar. No sólo no comida india tienen comida internacional y también un menú independiente para niños, pero si es algo como la comida que teníamos entonces no te decepcionará. Hay que probarlo!

Nunca tuvimos que esperar para pedir y toda la comida estaba fresco. Los dueños fueron muy amables y nos ayudaron a explorar el menú en el transcurso de la semana.Los curries estaban fuera de este mundo, y me habría encantado en coche todo el camino de vuelta de Thanet por una de sus comidas. FANTÁSTICO.

Deceided para darnos un capricho para una noche de cocinar - cena para 2 a £20 cogimos nuestro ojo y tan contentos que lo hizo. Muy buena relación calidad-precio para el volumen de alimentos, todos muy bien cocinado y preparado para colección cuando llegamos de sonar. Muy sabrosos y abundantes.

Mientras que en las vacaciones, llamado en la comida para llevar en Newtonmore y eran francamente decepcionado. La comida es regular y me dieron lo que me dieron, no es lo que pedí. Pedí una carne, kebabs con ensalada y patatas fritas con yogur de menta y chili salsa dulce. Lo que me dieron fue una pequeña porción de pollo y carne donner con cebollas fritas que estaban nadando en grasa. No había una ensalada y sin salsas. El problema fue que por el momento me enteré de lo que me habían dado que era demasiado tarde para llevar así que acabé comiendo lo que tenía delante de mí, no es lo que yo había pedido. Mi esposa tenía lo que se describe como una papada eglefino y aún así que encontró en los huesos. El outlet necesidad de proporcionar lo que están poniendo en el menú, y no lo que quieren darle. No hace falta decir que no volveré.

we have visited the Newtonmore takeaway place on more than one occasion and every time we have enjoyed it. The meal for 2 deal is great! Never had to wait to be served. Great!

A great place to get a very tasty Indian meal. The best in the Badenoch area, by a country mile. We ate our meal by a local beauty spot, with wonderful views.

We ordered two bacon cheese burgers. Two chips and onion rings. Ordered by phone on collection it was ready straight away and very reasonable price. Git home and Omg best bacon cheese burger ever great value for money too. Many thanks we will be back.

Tuvimos una cena anoche de llevar en Newtonmore, ¿qué puedo decir, totalmente me impactó, la comida era tremendo, hemos comido en algunos de los mejores restaurantes de este tipo de comida y tengo que decir que ésta las supera a todas.

Regularmente para usar esto para llevar comida india y tengo que decir que en todos los años, tiene que ser la mejor comida para llevar que he probado. El personal hace todo lo posible por ser amable y el servicio es de primera clase.

Esta pequeña llevar hace un trabajo increíble de comida para llevar con un extenso internacional y selección india con todo, desde hamburguesas hasta Bhuna y gran Tandoori. Toda la comida es preparada, así que espera que esperar un poco en las horas punta pero la guarda el teléfono y esperar su pedido y sólo recoger. Un excelente servicio de entrega está disponible también. Hemos tenido comidas emitido por un máximo de 30 personas a la vez sin una sola queja - muy recomendable y muy buena relación calidad-precio.
