Definitely the best Indian in Hemel always fantastic food delicious and full of flavour. Staff great and really great value for money highly recommended.

I have ordered from them many times before and the food used to be really nice. However, I am really disappointed with what they delivered today. The curry was just onions and heavy on supermarket kikdnof sauce which was full of vinegar. Sag paneer had no taste. Mixed grill had very chewy and hard meat, not tasting very well. It could be that the good chef has left. I will not order from them again.

Worst Indian Food in Hemel Hempstead…and when we called and try to give feedback the person on the other side was extremely rude and not open to take any feedback and when we said we will never order he was happy saying “sure no problem”

Food was good, but food containers weren’t closed and stacked properly and all the curries oil were coming out and making things worse. That’s not good at all and not very good presentation.

Order wrong. Offered a discount off next order. I wont be ordering again as didn’t like the food.

Delivered way too early. The food was okay but far too many onions and no box to request their removal.

First and only time ordering from Raja. Might be the worst take away, I have ever had in Hemel. First when food arrived, it was thrown infront of my door on my drive, when I got to the door, driver was already halfway in his car, didn’t even wait for me to open the door?? Got the food inside and opened up the bag, the main dish container was squashed, so half of the food and sauce was everywhere, not very pleasing!! They got the naan bread wrong as well, only got a plain one, which was not what I ordered. Thought I would try and salvage what was left of my main dish, never have indian food taste so salty, I honestly think they have dropped the salt shaker into the food??! Could not even eat it because of that, so we threw it all out. I never leave a review, but felt I had to this time. Money wasted out the window!! Very very disappointing.

Food was lovely as usual, but the mango chutney was missing and something I didn't like in its place, and it wasn't as hot as usual, but a minute in microwave sorted. Otherwise spot on thanks👍

Food arrived just shy of 2 hours after placing my order (1 hour later than the initial estimate) It was cold and I had to put it in the microwave to heat up.

Missing naan bread... Tandoori chicken starter there was barely any chicken on.. Watery chicken tikka masala... hardly any flavour. Food was on time but incomplete order let them down further. Was offered something extra next time when I called to complain but not sure I’ll be rushing back here! Shame as they have been very good when used previously! Guess too busy tonight so standards slipped...

It’s 20:30, my pre order that I ordered at 5pm to be delivered at 7pm is an hour and 30 minutes late!! I can’t get through to the restaurant they have taken the phone off the hook!!! Don’t accept pre orders if you can’t fulfill them!! Totally ruined our new year!!!

WHERE IS MY FOOD BEEN CALLING FOR 90MINS AND NO ANSWER you should at least answer your phone to update customers on when the food will be delivered. Completely unacceptable FYI as I’m writing this we still don’t have our delivery even though the app says ‘delivered’ Disgrace

Our local, never had a bad meal. The food is always of the highest quality and you can ask to spice things up or tone things down to suit your pallet. Service is very attentive. They really make an effort to engage. Great place!!

More than happy to order it from here again. We’ve ordered a few times once it was quite runny, with a lot of sauce, but no grease, this time there was loads of grease in the bag, but the food didn’t taste too greasy and in fact the chicken was blinking delicious! Their naan breads are good too especial the Kulcha naan, definitely having that again. Lamb in the biryani was cooked properly too. Bombay aloo, it was tasty but not the normal Bombay flavour but ate it all. All the same’ Nearly a 4* so will see what the next delivery brings as we will definitely be ordering from here again, and to be fair not had a bad dinner from here!

Ordered my meal was told how long approximately, arrived on time banging food and couldn’t fault it👌top marks

Had a big problem with a delivery a few weeks ago: our food was delivered to wrong address, after 30 min of trying to contact them they went to the " wrong address " to collect our food then tried to deliver it to us again :nobody will want food who has been to another house first and been touched and who knows ..... food was of course freezing cold by then . Also delivery person couldn't go out of his car because of handbreak problems so we had to go out to him ( not professional at all) This order was almost £50 We hate giving negative reviews but I emailed the raja many times in the last few weeks for this matter and had had no replies at all from them not even an apology. I guess nobody ever read the emails. Will avoid this place from now on

This place provides very good tasty food without costing a fortune. Everything well spiced, well cooked. Good service as well. What more do you want.

This is our local curry place and we have been visiting for years, food is always good, they have recently had a little freshen up with new coverings on seats and it looks good. Staff are friendly and service is efficient, its great to be able to go somewhere where you know food will be good standard, long may it continue.

Found this place by accident and it was the best find. Not only is the food made with quality ingredients; it is so well spiced and seasoned. In addition the owner is a charming man and all of the staff offer a high standard of customer service. Whether you eat in or takeaway you won't be disappointed!

My husband tried the Raja when he moved into the area thirteen years ago, wasn’t impressed with the “rubbish” food he received so hasn’t returned until I suggested last Bank Holiday Monday that we get a takeaway rather than drive to our regular place in Berkhamsted. Whenever I walk past of an evening, no matter which evening, they’re rarely more than a quarter full.... upon ordering on Bank Holiday Monday at 6.30pm we were happy to be told we’d only have to wait 30mins for delivery. It arrived after 15! Now, normally I’d be ecstatic about that but it’s sad to see, as I can only imagine they weren’t busy. We ordered: Poppadoms, 1 veg balti, 1 veg jalfrezi, 1 boiled rice, 1 mushroom rice. Poppadoms and both rices were lovely, 8/10.... both curries were incredibly spicy YET totally bland. They both tasted exactly the same except the Jalfrezi was hotter. My experiences of curries is that no matter what the heat level the good chefs provide a taste spectrum. This had nothing but an abundance of chillies! There was carrot, potatoes, mushrooms, sweet corn, peas and a cabbage (?) vegetable - all have their own unique flavour and compliment each other well, yet Raja just carpetbombed them with chillies. I don’t want this place to fail, it would be a shame to see so many people lose their income. I’ve heard about how the Raja *USED* to be good, this was my first time eating here, I WILL go back but not for a while. Please change what you’re doing and go back to your heyday.

Came here with a couple of old friends, we'd not seen each other for months, so we decided on the Raja as it had been recommended, really good menu, great prices and very friendly and helpful staff, I will be back again and hopefully soon

Food was late, we were given someone else's order and then had to chase up ours. Our food was then a bit cold. The lamb passanda was spicy when it should be mild . Nothing offered for the error with the order

Food was really tasty and just as importantly, it arrived hot. Speedily delivered as promised so impressed with that too. Would definitely order from this restaurant again.
