The Raj in Southend-on-Sea

Absolutely appalled by the experience we had on Sat night. Booked a table for 11 people (family came down from Ipswich, a yearly catch up). It was booked a couple of months ago and confirmed on the day. Was never told there were a few sittings. Our meal came fairly quickly and all was good up to that point. As soon as our meal was finished so our bill came which we never asked for as we were still drinking. They never even asked if we wanted a dessert or further drinks. We sat for a short while but was asked to leave as they needed the table. We were fuming as it had only been just over an hour since we got there. A long way to come for an hour. Needless to say we will not be going there again. So please when booking there make sure they tell how long you have.

Took an hour and 55 minutes to arrive. Had to keep calling to find out where it was. Lied to by person answering the phone about when it would get to us. Food was bland and luke warm when it did finally arrive. Absolutely terrible and when phoned and wanted money back was offered a bottle of soft drink. Totally ruined our evening. AVOID ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS

Ordered a first time takeaway from Raj. Was told 20 minutes. We normally would collect a takeaway but thought we would let them deliver. After an hour we rung up to be told it was ready but awaiting driver. Another 20 minutes we rang to be told it was with the driver. When my husband said it would be cold the manager said I call police and said he cancelled the order. Great customer service!!!! Unbelievable. My husband wasnt rude but just explained that 1 hr 20 minutes .this is not acceptable.so the order was cancelled and we have to wait 2/3 days for a refund. We will never go back there. The Khan shoebury is a better option. Should have stuck with them.

Always delivers on quality,portions,and value.Just eat happy to bring to the Echo Park estate, near Cuckoo Corner Cannot fault it !!!!

I can honestly say this has been the best indian meal we have had in such a long time. Food arrived hot, generous portions, chicken was tender and moist not dry like most other indians restuarants/takeaways serve up. 100% we recommend this place over and beyond any others in the area. A big thank you to the team who prepared, cooked and delivered the meals for a family of 4. Michelle

I’ve used this Indian every time for a while but it seems they’ve recently changed the chicken to the rubbery jelly like stuff, either that or it’s not cooked the same. Either way something has changed and I hope they change it back because this was a really good go to takeaway

Just eaten the best food ever from Raj Tandoori. Ordered over phone to collect 25 mins later. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic and best Indian food in area. We will not go to any other Indian takeaways in future. Thank you.

I've ordered from The Raj on multiple occasions and it has never disappointed! The staff are all really friendly and the food is amazing. Best Onion Bhajis ever!

The food from here is superb. Wish it was also a restaurant! Recently moved into area and it was recommended. My husband and I have tried a few different dishes between us and they have all been to a high standard. Reasonably priced too. I have to have gluten free food and they always make sure they repeat back what is GF in the order so that no mistakes are made.

To start with I must say that the food from this establishment is very good, good portions, good service and always a great price with no crazy delivery fees or orders over a certain high price. I have never had any issue with delivery or service and I really enjoy the food. One point of criticism is that the advertised poneer (paneer) cheese which is stated as being an Indian cheese was delivered as grated cheddar cheese on the sag poneer. I understand that is what most of the locals prefer and that is fine but please state that is what it is on the menu as that is what was ordered, not sag cheddar. Thanks for replacing the dish straight away with the proper poneer, once again good service and corrected the order.

Have had lots of meals from here and all have been excellent. The delivery has been great even during the lockdown. Have found it the best in our area.

Got a takeaway, was nice but was smaller portion the usual, and lamb was tough. Not to be a meanie but no free popdoms and dips. Which they do usually. oh well. But other then that alright 🙂

Given three different times for delivery that ment nearly two hours after order and then have to wait three days for my money back left feeling very disappointed and no food so hungry

Have not used the Raj for a while but gave it a go for my dad's birthday meal and what can i sayFood was amazing so much to pick from and the size of the dishes were bigOrdered over the phone staff friendly and went to pick the food upEverything was Hot which was great and free sides, hand wipes and choclates what more can you ask forwe will be using the raj again

i have eaten indian food for 50 years and some of the raj,s meals are the very best i have ever tasted SAY NO MORE TRY THEM.

Curries are always spot on, staff are friendly and their sag paneer is so good! I always used to try a new Indian every time but I stick with this one now!

We been using the Raj for many years always great food , friendly staff taking your order on the phone to collecting never had any problems all meals are 100% spot on tasty and fresh and fantastic value for money.

Great food as always hot and fresh.. really cannot recommend highly enough.. and they deliver when they say they will highly recommended and reasonably priced too.. try this once you won’t go anywhere else for an Indian takeaway..

We have been buying take aways from The Raj for many years and the standard of food and delivery service is probably better now than it has ever been. All the staff, both in the shop and the delivery drivers, are very friendly and accommodating. The food is delivered quickly and efficiently and is always hot and tasty.

We got a delivery last night from here as the reviews look good and on just eat! We love our usual Indian food takeaway/delivery but thought would try the raj! Firstly it took over an hour for delivery over 15 mins longer that they said then the onion baijis were in a brown bag that was completely covered saturated in fact in Greece, the bread was cold, the potatoes were warm but the chicken dishes were boiling like heated up hot it was all bizzar!! Not nice at all!! I complained through just eat and had a messaged left from the raj saying they had something going on and we could have a free curry, but due to the fact my husband and I have been in and out of the toilet all night and have severe stomach cramps I’m never going back there again!!!

Indian food cooked in Shoebury which can be ordered by phone for local delivery. Always good quality and large portions at reasonable prices. Standard Indian menu with a number of specialities.

Yo soy muy delicada cuando se trata de India. Probé el Raj hace tiempo y no fue feliz. Pero esta vez. La comida era de primera clase. Biriani tenía una que era excelente y que el curry picante como solicitado. Bindi Bhaji también era muy buena. De buena calidad. Tamaño de la porción es buena y el personal muy amable.

Really great value for money, and some interesting speciality dishes too.... Katmandu Nepalese style is our favourite. Big discount offered on collection too.

La decoración necesita de renovaciones, pero el nad de comida personal lo compensan. Dos miembros principal son siempre para complementar y su huésped/s y están siempre dispuestos a ayudarle a decidir qué tienen platos y cada sabor. La comida es siempre muy bien cocinados y caliente y las raciones y siempre son de un buen tamaño. Dice el hecho este lugar siempre está lleno los fines todo. Si lo que buscas es un buen curry por un módico precio, esto es para ti. El único fallo es la decoración, si se actualizó tendría una clasificación más elevada.

Tenía una mezcla una parrilla junto tandoori, Aloo de Bombay y un pan naan. Todo estaba cocinado a la perfección. El único problema era que no estaba tan caliente como me hubiera gustado. Fue entregado dentro de los 40 minutos tiempo dada en el momento de efectuar la reserva. Volveré y con la esperanza de que estoy más suerte con la temperatura de mi comida.

Visited for the first time this evening and will certainly return. Excellent traditional food, well prepared and very tasty. Fantastic value.

Good delivery service, can be ordered online, and a good range of curries...what's not to like if you live in Shoeburyness??The Tandoori Chicken is highly recommended, as are the Prawn Dopiaza and the full range of lamb dishes.
