They only do Sunday lunch. They have one high chair, but kids are welcome. No outdoor play area. Lunch was really nice, especially the lamb shank. Would recommend for more adult eating unless you are not staying long with a very young child.

Our small party of three have just returned from our very first visit to the Railway Tavern for Sunday Lunch, and we were not disappointed! The food was home made and very tasty, with good sized portions. Two of us had roast beef and one had the lamb shank, followed by treacle sponge and ginger sponge from the wide selection of sweets on offer. All the food was very tasty, the pub was smartly decorated, with a nice atmosphere and a warm welcome from Phil and Chris along with our pleasant waitress. We shall definitely be returning to the friendly Railway Tavern in the near future for another reasonably priced, delicious meal.

We love the food at The Railway - just as good as my mum's (who we take often and she agrees). Chris and Phil are lovely and welcoming. I also like trying the guest real ales that Phil introduces each month.

Me and wife and now not so little girl have just returned from having had yet another lovely Sunday lunch. The food here is all home made. There is a Choice of meats that are served with Yorkshire puddings and mash, roast potatoes and a choice of at least 4 different vegetables. Gravy and condiments if required. The puddings are great too if you can manage one ? The hand pulled beer here is always good with a ever changing award winning selection on offer ! A warm welcome is alway guaranteed here from the owners and friendly staff ! I honestly don't think you could find anywhere better to eat a great Sunday lunch. The prices are also very reasonable too. Food is now only available on a Sunday 12 till 5pm. Please note on a earlier review on here that seems now to have disappeared someone disliked there steak pie ? I think they must have got this place mixed up ? Because the railway tavern at Hensall doesn't and never has served steak pie in the last 3/4 years that I've been eating here.

We went when it first opened after refurbishment, The owner recommended the home made steak and kidney pie. It was as dry as old bones and did not enjoy eating it, I should have complained while there to give her a chance to rectify, but was so disapointed we left never to return.

We live local to the Railway Tavern and often visit for the Sunday Lunch which is served until 5pm which is a great advantage to us as due to work commitments it is not always convenient to eat before 3pm as is the case in many establishments. We have never been disappointed with the main course which is a choice of meats accompanied by fresh vegetables. If after all that you have a sweet tooth there is a good choice of sweets on offer from naughty but nice puddings to homemade cheesecakes.

Great little place in a lovely quiet rural village. The warm welcome when we arrived was brilliant the hosts are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We went on a sunday for a traditional roast and the food was cooked to perfection, reminded me of my nannas wonderful cooking. Good English grub that has not been mucked about with, and plenty of it so good for those with a large appetite. The pudding menu is full of home made specialities and so difficult to choose which one to have. Due to the food being so good I will get to try all the desserts as I will certainly be back. The only downside was the beer was a bit flat, but nothing that cant be resolved.
