So this was a tough review to do as I could see how it could easily be improved More issues with the slow service from the waiting staff, I have never seen so many waiting staff with such little movement...no eye contact, no idea about the selection of beverages everything just so slow...all they wanted to do is congregate in the bar area... one decent member of staff could easily manage such a small amount of covers. Our food order got lost and I noticed that there were a few issues and having worked in hospitality for years a well organised kitchen should be able to cope with such a small amount of covers. When our food came out it was nice which was a shock as our expectations were set very low, we were there over two hours for one course and would have drank more if someone had bothered to ask us...

A hidden gem! From the outside the restaurant isn’t obvious and the bar visible from the road was empty so we wondered if it was open. Also slightly confused by the change of name to Pelgrave’s. Having ventured round to the entrance however we found a stylish restaurant with fab delicious food. Badged as a restaurant and pizzeria it is undersold and we had a truly delicious bistro type meal. I would definitely recommend.

When I went to the railway station it was a good few years ago and I thought that the food was up to really good standards and the staff were really kind and also helped to. But the railway station pub has now changed on the outside because there is one room that my family were in and now it is like a shop in there now.

Went for my birthday with some friends, we pre-booked and were sat in a lovely room at a lovely table. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Starter I had gnocchi which was delicious! Main I had fish and chips which was ok, chips were a bit over done but still ok. Dessert I had creme brûlée and that was amazing!! A friend of mine did have a problem with her burger - it came out really under done, she asked for it to be done abit more and the waitress said it would be 5 minutes. By the time the burger came back, everyone else in our group had finished their mains, and the and beef burger was still under done (it was still pink in the middle!), the staff didn't charge us for the burger but this meant my friend never for a main course. They also brought out a plate with brownie pieces, ice cream with a candle, strawberries and 'happy birthday' written on in a chocolate sauce - which I thought was a really lovely touch!! Would definitely go again, really lovely place!

Me and my partner had a wonderful meal, for starters I had the chicken wings with chilli sauce while she had the pan fried pheasant beat which where both lovely presented and tasted good. For mains we both had the lamb rump which was £19.25 which was worth it as lamb is naturally expensive and was cooked to perfection.

Rang to be told this restaurant was merging with next door but food etc would not be affected. Had the lamb rump which was lovely but overpriced at £20. It looks like a lot of the fine dining dishes prices have been increased by £6 or so. To pay for renovations? Think £16 a little expensive for 6oz rump. Service was dependent on which waiting staff you had. We had someone from the grill side who said rather loudly, "So it's the Sav you want?" When it arrived unopened it was dumped unceremoniously in a bucket on the table and then she left! Oh AND it was a bottle of pinot which my husband had to get up and take back as staff gone for ages in the bar. I had a quiet word with staff from fine dining side who explained the grill staff were used to being informal. I'm not expecting silver service but that was well below any standard of service i have ever received in a restaurant. She assured me comments would be passed on. Not sure that I will return to find out if anything has changed.

The Railway has now merged with Hills Bar and Grill next door (same owners) and is renamed Hills @ The Railway. They have also merged the menus which I think has made a very confused menu, a mixture of fine dining dishes and pizzas and burgers. My husband and son had the lamb rump which they said was delicious but over-priced at £19.95, I had the pork belly again very nicely cooked and I ordered a side order of triple cooked chips. The chips were very disappointing more like potato wedges and no crispness to them at all. Unfortunately on our visit there was a large party at another table with one member loudly shouting football chants. Whilst I understand the restaurant has no control over who books tables, nothing was said until my son went over to them and asked them to be a bit quieter, and then the manager went and had a word too. To be fair at the end of the meal the staff did apologise to us but our evening had already been spoilt by then. We have visited The Railway a number of times over the last few years and have always been very happy with the food and service. Unfortunately our recent visit has led us to think we won't go again unless they re-think their ethos.

Our recent visit was spoiled by the restaurant being cold. Our table was in the front of the restaurant and two small heaters was plugged in to warm the room. Some tables was directly placed next to the radiators which guessing wasn't working. The whole layout of the room needs rethinking. The food overall was average. The menu prices show a lot of extra costs. Vegetables are an extra which I found really shocking!!! May visit again in the summer.

I booked a table for 4 of us for my Birthday for Saturday 19th November. We arrived and were told in a very rude and aggressive way that we were not booked in. I retorted that I had personally made the booking for that date (how does someone get their birthday date wrong?) and that I double checked with the chap who took the booking because he sounded rather 'tired'. Then this Dr Jeykll checked the bookings for Friday and said "Oh yes! you should have been here last night but at 8.15 we put you down as a 'no-show' and let the table go". I suggested that someone could have 'phoned to check why we were not there and just got a shrug of the shoulders. Looking around the restaurant, there appeared to plenty of space to make up another table but no Dr Jekyll wouldn't have it. Eventually a very pleasant lady said that she would have a word with the Boss and eventually we were accommodated. We had a very pleasant meal and the food was lovely. The only downside to our meal was that Dr Jekyll suddenly turned into Mr Hyde and was annoyingly over pleasant and helpfull when serving our meals and to cap it all the chef sent extra vegetables which we didn't need as compensation ! ! !

As part of a group of friends (a reunion of some who had shared the same student house in the early 1960s) and their spouses, we arranged a reunion lunch at the Railway Station Restaurant in Long Eaton. Unfortunately there is no parking at the restaurant so my wife and I had to park on-street close by (this was not a problem on Sunday because, luckily, the single yellow line was non-operative). Although the area is somewhat unpretentious, we were all - without exception - delighted with the restaurant.. After a pre-lunch drink and chat, we were given a dining room to ourselves with a table set for the thirteen of us (our teddy bear Claude made the number up to fourteen from an unlucky thirteen) and we were served our food. To make life easier for the restaurant, we had made food choices in advance and they were all served efficiently. The food that was served was of excellent quality but, be warned, portions at the Station Restaurant are large (none of us left the restaurant feeling hungry). The two waitresses who served us were most helpful and could not have been more charming. We all enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the restaurant and, without any shadow of doubt, we would certainly eat there again if we were ever in Long Eaton.

We organised a College Reunion lunch at this restaurant. The menu was excellent and very good value. On arrival our party of 13 was made welcome and we were offered the opportunity to order drinks by the couple or for the whole party. Since drinking habits varied greatly and some of us were having the two course meal and some the three, we opted for separate billing and this worked simply and correctly with no fuss throughout our lengthy stay.We had given our meal choices in advance and as the courses arrived one's name was announced and the correct plateful was served. It is all very simple but how many places manage it?We asked for the table seating to be re-arranged and this was sorted out with no fuss. The two young women who served us were excellent and we all enjoyed a very happy occasion, enhanced by the easy, yet efficient service. The meal itself was very good indeed and the quantities of vegetables and potatoes etc. were way more than we actually needed. Highly recommended!

Six of us had Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful. The dining area was spacious and comfortable, with exposed brick walls decorated with railway memorabilia. Service and food delivery were both prompt. Having been to the restaurant before, once for a 50th wedding anniversary three years ago and once for a Valentine's meal about three years before that and having been underwhelmed, I was not particularly looking forward to my meal last Saturday evening. I am delighted to report that I was very pleasantly surprised - the whole meal was delicious. This was a family visit - there were seven of us - and when I looked around the table after the starter and again after the main course, there wasn't anything left on anyone's plate! I started with the scallops on a curried cauliflower purée with crispy pancetta and pea shoots: the scallops were just cooked and the combination of flavours was delightful. My main course - sea bream with a pancetta mash and a celeriac remoulade - was light and flavourful. I could have done with a little more of the remoulade and slightly less of the mash, but I very much enjoyed what I had. the whole family enjoyed their meals, and at around £35 per head including pre-dinner drinks and wine with the meal, it was very good value. I am looking forward to my next visit!

Waiting staff frequently brought out the wrong wines, with one putting her finger in a bottle of wine to clear it from the table, when the bottle was three quarters full. It was not changed until I highlighted the unhygienic error was not acceptable. Also when meals were brought out, staff were unsure what they were serving.I emailed the establishment to highlight these errors amongst others, and have not received any acknowledgement or reply from my email. Having been a couple of times to this restaurant I was really looking forward to it. However on the two previous occasions even though I was somewhat peeved at having to order vegetables as an extra for your main meal I did enjoy both occasions and the second one was for my daughters graduation and it was faultless. This time there were 6 of us, three couples= we all had starters and mains - when we ordered I asked the waitress thought I was best to order extra veg with my main meal on past experience. she looked at the menu then said 'no you won't need it as it comes with Mash and red cabbage'. When the meal arrived I wished I had ordered extra veg. As there on the plate was a small piece of what I must say perfectly cooked, pork loin absolutely gorgeous. sitting on a small amount of mash and red cabbage it looked somewhat lost on my plate - maybe I am just greedy but I would rather have more than not enough especially at those prices.Everyone did enjoy their meals I must say but I do feel it is a bit over priced. We both had starters and mains (I didn't like my starter so I suppose I was upset from the off) and a bottle of beer each quite pricey at £4 for a Speckled Hen - going rate my husband assures me however I think £3 -£3.50 would be more bearable we also had a glass of wine each and we paid £72 a bit steep I thought for what we had.The staff were pleasant enough but there was something missing can't quite put my finger on it.For this reason I give The Railway Station Restaurant - Average rating I certainly would choose other restaurant's in the area over this one .

I've never had anything less than superb food and service here. Don't be misled by the location, the restaurant is great inside, the food beautifully cooked and the service excellent. Great wine selection with both food and wine reasonably priced.

For an all round EXCELLENT value Sunday roast dinner, that tasted home made, you certainly can,t beat this venue and menu. The roast beef was fantastic, and the meat portion can only be described as over generous. A very highly rated pub meal. Ate here with friends at the beginning of July - must say that it's nice to have a proper restaurant in the middle of all the kebab shops and cafes in Long Eaton so I would comment that by the standards surrounding it, the food here is delicious. When you review the standard of food against other restaurants in Nottingham I would rate the Station and average. An interesting array of vegetables comes as a side dish to the main courses. Staff are friendly, but slow, however they did seem a little understaffed at the time. Overall a nice place to eat out if you're a local and don't want to travel the distance into Nottingham.

This resaurant exceeded our expectations. The external appearance was not particularly welcoming but the staff were great and as it filled up a good atmosphere was generated. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there.

We found this place via the Internet looking for somewhere half between Barnsley and Northampton. On arrival I was somewhat sceptical from the outside area. However the place is great. We were not disappointed. Inside the decor is light and interestingly decorated with old railway memorabilia. The young staff were very attentive and helpful. The menu choice was good and the food very tasty and good value for money.

Long Eaton is a convenient place to meet friends from Northampton and our friends picked the restaurant from Trip Advisor. We had a good night with our friends and we were all pleased with the quality of the food. Starters we had were mussels(excellent), asparagus, and terrine and for main course rib eye steak, trout and salmon. All were excellent as were the sticky toffee pudding, and 3 crème brulees. In addition the staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially the delightful Vicky (or as Nan would say Victoria). Do go and enjoy a lovely spot with a nice atmosphere.

I had a table of 6. We did have other arrangements, but the rain stopped play. So I booked a table at The Railway Inn, Hinckley online. It was easy to use and gave alternative times. We all had Sunday lunch. Food was lovely and good value.

We booked a table for our 30th wedding anniversary weekend in Nottingham. The meal was superb from the starter to desert. The staff were extremely attentive and warm and friendly making you feel relaxed and welcome. The atmosphere and decor create an enjoyable overall dining experience which we hope to repeat sooner rather than later.

An unassuming little old pub that you'd pass by not thinking yummy food would be served there. How you'd be wrong. A hidden gem in long eaton.

This pub has a rustic atmosphere and very welcoming staff and customers. The food is great, the portions are good and there is nice range of beers. It was a little noisy where we were sat and felt we were having a bar meal and not sitting in the lounge bar.

This was our second to this restaurant, we always leave saying we will come more often but it's finding the time to fit in with friends. The food was lovely and I must have left a stone heavier! A reasonable £22.95 for 3 courses, there was plenty of choice on the menu and the food is fabulous. We will be back and sooner this time!!

This was only my second visit to The Railway Inn and the first time for food. I went with my four girls friends who all visited from Birmingham. We received a warm welcome and there was a great ambiance in the dining room. The traditional pub food was really tasty and excellent value for money - you definitely won't go home hungry! We'll definitely be back.

We had a lovely lunch here. The food was excellent and service was very attentive. It was actually a business lunch, and we were given one of the rooms all to ourselves so we could have some privacy, which was wonderful. The staff were very knowledgable about the menu and gave perfect reommendations. I would definitely not hesitate to return.

Superb high class dining experience. Good quality food and wine. Well kept, modern yet vintage feel to the decor. The staff are polite ,friendly helpful and professional. Unlike many traditional British restaurants it isn't a pub, bar or hotel. Just a restaurant, simple and delightful. Must be experienced to be convinced.Only slight niggle is wear something warm as it was a bit too cold to take my jacket off.

We were looking for a new restaurant to try for Sunday lunch. After reading the reviews we decided to book here. You can choose 2 or 3 courses and there is a good varied selection. Our group had soup and pesto panacotta for starters, roast beef, chicken and trout for mains and milk chocolate tart and creme brûlées for dessert. All the food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend and we will definitely return.

Came here for Sunday lunch after seeing reviews online, being local we were surprised we'd never heard of it before and thought we'd give it a go!It took some convincing when we arrived as it doesn't look much from the outside and the parking situation (lack of) is frustrating but once we were in things improved a lot. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere inside was really nice with a mix of modern and the old station. The food was good, lots of it, plenty of extra veg and gravy with the mains which is always nice to see and the starters were equally as good. The price was pretty good for a decent Sunday lunch too. Will definitely return, possibly in the evening next time. Although I did think the evening set menu looked fairly pricey with the supplements on most dishes. Hopefully worth it though.

The service was excellent all staff very friendly and helpful as it was a first visit for us. <br />The food was good, only fault was that the meat was over the top of the potatoes, but it didn't spoil the meal too much as the food was very good. I would have preferred to have them separate.

This place is in an unlikely corner of Long Eaton, alongside a little-used railway line, hence the name. The restaurant is in modern brown leather style but with old-fashioned adverts on the wall. The menu is a mixture of some old favourites and some more imaginative things - I opted for pesto pannacotta which was a bit unusual! The braised beef was fabulous, rich and soft, with tasty horseradish mash. Wine by the glass is limited, but that's probably inevitable for a small restaurant. The fixed-price 2 or 3-course meal is excellent value.

We arrived at 7 minutes past 8 on a Wednesday evening just before Easter to be told that the restaurant was only open between 6.30pm-8pm and "no one had been in that night therefore we are not going to hang around"Therefore we were directed to the White House at Sawley...where I will now give our review! We would like to go back at some point but feel less inclined to do so unless we "pick the correct small opening window"!!!

Visited here last night with a group of friends, there were 11 of us in total, the tables had been arranged in a fashion that we could still talk to each other without shouting, We were greeted by friendly waitresses who were prompt in taking our drinks orders, we had pre ordered our meals so chef was on it and our starters arrived within around 15 mins of taking our seats, The restaurant was busy so I felt 15 mins was very good, professionally served and then cleared quickly once finished, followed by mains within 10 mins.. The whole evening carried on in this vain, very good service and very good food, the only criticism I would have is I would have liked a few more chips than the 9 we had and maybe half the portion of the brownie, how anyone could eat that much is beyond me and I have a big appetite!

Great old pub that we visit every year during the summer months, food was ok, and this year seems like standards have slipped, paddock area in the garden looking very tired and in need of a makeover, had 2 pints and only one was decent, would return but hopefully improvements made

Decided to have breakfast here this morning, it was quaint and picturesque... so thought would be lovely, pot of tea ordered by my husband and 2 sausage and egg cobs, ... when they came we were terribly dissatisfied, one sausage that was too small for the bread and the egg it was more like having a fried egg sandwich, the egg was an extra 75p which is OK I guess but £4.35 for one sausage 1 egg in a breadcake did not feel like good value for money. Can get a dozen sausage for less than that. Queried the waitress and she just said that's how we do it 🤨 not sorry about your disappointment or anything, seamed a little rude a response if you ask me. Safe to say we won't be returning.

We bought a Groupon offer based on the picture on the advert on Groupon. All we got was 3 tiny finger sandwiches with minimal filling. A cheese straw which was half the size shown in the picture. No pork pie. No sausage rolls etc. A packet of crisps shared between us. Scones were nice but our cakes were cherry slice which was topped with a very runny icing & a tiny child size fairy cake topped with hundreds & thousands. Don't let the pictures fool you!!!
