We had fish and chips and it was absolutely lovely. Our favourite place we always rate for same meal is in Prestatyn, Wales but this meal at The Railway Inn by far exceeds Prestatyn. 1000% recommend. The staff were lovely too.

I beg to differ with Shelley M I had a steak ciabatta and a fish finger sandwich for my mate. The ciabatta was incredibly hard all the way through which had been heated a little so can only guess old bread or left in the warm oven too long totally drying it out all the way through. I could not make and depressed finger mark in it. Shocking....The thin slices of steak were cooked correctly to order though. The fish finger sandwich was just made in budget white bread slices and had three fish fingers in and cost £7 ... Never again.

Absolutely appalling service. We booked over a weekend for dinner time meal for 19 of us for a leaving do. Booked 5.30pm as we had children with us and it was a school night. Had confirmation message back from the pub to say all booked and fine. We arrived at the pub today to be told by the woman behind the bar 'kitchens closed'. We had no calls or messages to let us know not to make the journey with 9 hungry kids. I appreciate things happen but to not let your customers who have booked know what is happening is not on. The woman behind the bar was not apologetic at all. We won't be back!

I pre- booked the Railway in for 8 people for my birthday. I had regular contact with the pub and gave our orders 5 days beforehand! When we turned up today we weren’t greeted by staff members. We walked into a room with tables & chairs, it’s shabby & needs upgrading. There was no tables set up for us! We weren’t approached by any staff member during our short time there. We went to speak to a member of staff and was told “alright” we responded with our disappointment. This was ignored, this is poor behaviour! We then left the pub immediately. Extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend the Railway inn. We attended another pub, where we received service how it should be!

We went for a Sunday meal here with family. Previously on another visit we had roast dinners - which was mediocre to say the least. So, this time decided to try from the main menu. Two men had cheeseburger meals, which were alright - I suppose you can't really mess them up. My Granddaughter had a rump steak meal - she only ate about a third of it - chips were tepid. My little Great Granddaughter had rice, fish fingers - which were (looked) under cooked & unappetising (not golden) - when she got home she was sick !!!!!! I had Hunter's Chicken - which in places was difficult to cut up/eat, tepid chips and because I could not eat corn on the cob or onion rings - I asked for a green salad instead. I could NOT believe what was served up to me - the leaves were soggy/brown/old and smelt awful. When I complained all I got was "oh sorry about that". My little Great Granddaughter wanted to go to the toilet, I took her to the ladies off the restaurant area. The toilet was absolutely disgusting (sorry - splattered !!!!). We arrived just before the pub opened, so it must have been like it since the night before !!!!! I took her to the other toilet (off the bar area), which was also not cleaned, although better. When something like this happens you start looking around the place, and it could do with a good deep clean (floors/toilets etc). Needless to say we will not be going there ever again.

I called in today with a friend for a snack/lunch and a drink, and I have been here before and it is a great place to go which has seen a change in management and is still going strong and better. It has had a refurbishment too and it is looking smart. Order a snack and drinks at the bar and paid and the food was bought to us promptly and efficient and in a friendly manner - the food was hot which was good What I did like and is a vast improvement is the live information on train departures in the pub, which is good and it means that you know exactly how long you have to wait for your train (and if there are any delays!!) - I would say allow 5 minutes to get to the station especially as you do have to cross the road which can be busy at the best of times and with all the development that is going on locally (and the station at Westbury has 3 platforms with stairs/lifts) If you do have time to wait for your train it is great place to be rather than a chilly train station!! Prices are reasonable

I needed a place to eat as I was staying in a local B&B the owner suggested The Railway Inn, a short walk but as a woman on my own I was hesitant and nearly walked away, but I was hungry so I went in, I am so glad I did, I made an instant connection with a local lady called Ali, hope she doesn't mind me name dropping, so I stayed, I was made to feel so welcome by the bar staff and the locals it really blew me away, if you are staying close by The Railway Inn is worth a visit, you will want to visit again I know I do, thank you all at the Inn and everyone else you know who you are, kindest regards to all, Sue x

About three minutes walk from Westbury Station, itself a three quarter miles away from the town centre, is the Railway Inn. The immediate area around the pub has changed beyond recognition but luckily it seems the pub hasn't succumbed to today's modernisation. Big interior inside while small beer garden to the side of the pub. I was here to kill time as my train had been cancelled but nonetheless very pleasant atmosphere.

I really cannot fault the Sunday Roast carvery at the Railway. A huge selection of vegetables always on the servery .... choice of meats usually beef and chicken and a warm welcome. Just going back to the vegetables ..... parsnips, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, swede, peas, carrots, green beans and brocoli, all for £8.95 .... brilliant... and so much better than some of the trip advisor so called 'top venues' that have no idea on how to treat their customers.

Myself and a friend came for Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating from the word go and the prices at the bar and in the restaurant were reasonable. The actual Sunday carvery was so disappointing, though. There was a good spread, but the actual cookery of the food was poor. Most was overcooked, including the beef, roast potatoes and parsnips; and I couldn't understand why mint sauce was on offer when there was no lamb. All in all, I left wishing I'd eaten just my starter, which was big enough to be a lunchtime meal in it's own right (even though the kitchen had ran out of garlic mayo for the 'garlic' breaded mushrooms). It would appear that the Railway Inn has all the elements of a nice gastro pub, except for the vital ingredient of a well-rounded chef. I was looking forward to this meal with my friend in a pub I hadn't visited before, and I really, really wanted to like it, but it just fell so short of the mark - sorry.

In between train journeys we popped in here for some warm food as it was too cold to hang about. I have to say we did have a warm welcome which was much appreciated after having a hell of a train journey up. This pub is old worldy which I do love and was quite busy with all the games going on darts, bowl or skittles& pool even though it feels like it's in the middle of no where. The drinks and meals were reasonably priced it's just the food really let it down, my son enjoyed his burger, my daughter lasagne did not taste anything like it and was very greasy, and I had pie and mash, more like smash I think my frozen peas were the best bit on my plate lol. If you just want somewhere warm and cosy to go for a drink you certainly can have it there, as for food I wouldn't entertain it. They could vamp it up get a tidy chef and they would attract more customers. I personally won't go there again sorry.

What a shambles last night was! We were there to watch a fantastic comedian but because there was a group of rough, drunk girls on a hen party that kept shouting out obscenities to the comedian, even before his show had started, he ended his part of the entertainment. Pubs near railway stations often tend to be on the tatty, run-down side, but this one isn't at all bad: it's a converted mill, although that's not as obvious from inside as from outside, and is only a couple of minutes' walk from Westbury station. It's although nothing very special, but it's decent and friendly enough - definitely a better place to wait for a train than a draughty platform!

We headed to Dee Dee's firstly because it is situated within The Range store, where we happened to be browsing, and secondly, because it advertised that it was serving Costa Coffee. We were killing time, waiting for a relative to undergo a hospital appointment, but we waited a LONG time to be served. I actually began to time it on my watch, silly I know, but I was beginning to think that we would have to ditch our idea of a coffee and head back to the hospital. In the end, we waited a little over 18 minutes to be served. Yes, the coffee was Costa, but not served Barista style, more of the kind of machine one finds in a buffet breakfast at a hotel, select your drink, press the appropriate button and the machine dispenses the drink. The staff seemed to be rushed off their feet, with one young lady taking orders and delivering coffees and another, older and more experienced lady putting together the food orders. One felt for them, as they were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet. Yet, being British, we all stood there and queued! Costa coffee is okay, not nearly as special as it would like to think, but we got what we paid for. The seating area was nicely laid out, sufficient space between tables, but it was all rather canteen, rather than a coffee / cafe /bistro experience. The management should really look at their staffing levels and help out the current members, who are doing their best.
