Great place to socially have a pint and a chat

I went here a few months ago. Don’t remember which month but it was definitely in 2024 Everyone was so kind- the staff and the pubgoers! Felt compelled to leave a review because recently at a different pub I got discriminated against … but not this pub! Everyone was kind to me despite me being a part of 3 marginalised groups. Two of those things may not be noticeable, but i felt respected regardless. I only bought 2 drinks… because of my sad financial situation…(its better now) but when i come back, i will order as much as i can drink!(without blacking out of course!)

Great live music, good atmosphere and a delicious Sunday roast for less than a tenner a head - what’s not to love! Come here most Sunday afternoons for the live music. 1st time having the roast, great choice, fresh & tasty. Will definitely be having Sunday lunch here again!

Stopped in a recent trip back to the UK and it reminded me of everything I missed about Britain. Live music, friendly service, great location in a small village that you have to visit! Lovely evening - thank you Railway!

We travelled quite a distance for the music, specifically to see Jason Falloon play. He was absolutely fantastic . So privileged to spend time listening to Jason and guests . WOW,WOW,WOW.

Good ale , good food , great music ( when available) and great staff.

Friendly locals pub with good selection of ales which are well kept. Food reasonably priced. Not many pubs like this anymore sadly.

Good, solid, unpretentious, tasty meals. I had roast pork with Yorkshire pudding, roast and boiled potatoes and eight vegetables (yes, eight!). Plenty of food and very reasonably priced. Others in my party had roast lamb, roast chicken and fish & chips Desserts are especially inexpensive, but great. Staff are real people with personality and all the better for it. Will certainly return.

Passing through Billingshurst to pick up a car, had time to waste and needed lunch. Proper local pub, good burger, and the landlady popped out to buy some ground coffee for me… so kind!

Super pub, great welcoming atmosphere, loved it there

Old fashion English pub bit run down,bur the beer was good and the food we had was good I wouldn't recommend it as a place to go for an evening meal.sunny beer garden and the landlady was very nice and helpful good coffee.price very was very.would go again for a beer or a breakfast.

Great pub;; great bands, great atmosphere... can be quiet sometimes, little bit of a locals pub, but quite welcoming nevertheless...very enjoyable for a night out.

Nice enough pub for a quick drink after getting off the train. Seems like a local with bands playing regularly and food at certain times. Opening at 3 on Monday after the late Queens funeral as a mark of respect 🙏

A great pub, good beer and a lively and committed set by The Majors. Lacking bassist and drummer on this occasion and possibly just as well because I don't know how they would have fitted into that small corner. Great musicianship and vocals, great choice of songs. Close your eyes and it could have been Ray Manzarek himself on keyboards.

Went to watch a rock band play live. The drummer was genuinely outstanding, I believe his name was Mark.

Great pub with great staff. A good selection of products and a friendly bunch of locals. The light at the end of a train journey.

Great place with fab staff. I've been here a few times either to play on their live music Fridays or to watch other bands. The staff are friendly and the regular customers keen to chat. There's parking round the back, entertainment and a decent range of drinks.

Nathan and his team helped keep us sane with nice meals and good banter throughout lockdown, even personally delivered leaflets if he knew we might be interested in a specials meal night. The food is always good honest pub grub, served with a smile and we are very grateful to the team for helping us get through being in shielding for the best part of a year now

A short visit unfortunately but very friendly and the Harvey's best bitter was spot on.

I like this pub and its eclectic mix of people. It is not the most polished nor most well decorated but its a proper pub and the landlord is a good guy. The food is supposed to be decent but I have not yet tried it.

My husband and I popped into the Railway Inn for a drink it was COVID safe plenty of sanitiser the landlord was extremely professional spaying the tables when someone vacated. Looking forward to our next visit keep up the good work.

Very friendly typical village pub

We visited this pub as a favourite trio ‘Superstrings’ were playing and enjoyed a very traditional pub experience! An excellent Sunday roast with 7 fresh vegetables was fantastic value. Really friendly staff and Superstrings were as fab as ever. A delightful way to escape Storm Ciara!

Wonderful atmosphere, very friendly staff, fabulous live music.

Pub always has at least one guest ale and a craft ale so makes drinking here a little more interesting. Food is excellent with Sunday lunch highly recommended.

Nice local pub situated right next door to Billingshurst railway station. Probably more of a venue for a drink rather than eating. Nice selection of cask beers.

not a "foodie" destination, doesn`t need to be as this great pub always has a great selection of draught beer on tap, along with a large choice of lager and cider also on draught. there is always food available though, and sunday roast is a must if you are in the area. always busy with locals and tradesmen " on offer !! " a cheery and pleasant pub

Not the nicest of buildings but there really was nothing to complain about. The bar was well stocked the staff were good there was a good band on the night we visited. There was a dart board and seating available. Was a good crowd but not so full you couldn’t move. Overall a great night.

Great place for a few drinks and live music friday nights

Well, we have a lovely visit, music was good as always, locals were all friendly. Nice atmosphere. Expected little from the food but was really pleasantly suprised by value for money and service was excellent from the young girl and lady behind the bar. Would definitely go back. Nice to go to a "proper" pub with locals in. Asked for coffee and got a large pot, enough for 6 cups of decent filter. Roast potatoes on the bar just like the old days!

Friendly meeting place and good music

Nicely decorated and busy pub, but the older lady working there was very unfriendly and when I asked for bitter shandy I was presented with a flat drink, that tasted like soda water and bitter. I mentioned this and was told in no uncertain terms there was nothing wrong with it! I asked for some lime to help the horrible taste and was greeted with a lot of huffing and puffing, and being told there's nothing wrong with it! I was then ignored and eventually as I didn't leave the bar I was treated to some lime and more unpleasantness and head shaking! For my first visit we left unimpressed and offended, I can't believe someone in the hospitality business could be so hostile and unfriendly. I won't be returning and will mention to everyone locally what a horrible experience we had.

A basic but casual pub with helpful staff. Food served, menu available, and it came nice and hot. Large range of beers and ciders aswell as hand pulled ales. Well situated for a visit after a long train journey. Has a big screen TV to watch SKY Sports etc, on. Well worth a visit.

Come here for a pint if you must, but this place is rough, particularly the clientele.

Went to this pub on NYE and we had a laugh because it is only 2 minutes walk from home. Tonight, we called in only to walk into a totally soulless pub. Only 1 customer, giggling and talking to herself. The landlady, she can't help her age and appearance , but she can help her ignorance and rudeness. No welcome, no what would you like? Appalling service.. The decor is so dated, tacky and just rubbish. Anyway the only saving grace is that it's cheap, but then in life you get what you pay for. Unfortunately you can't give a rating of zero.

PROPER PUB Hard working Landlords Great and free live bands most weeks. Sunday lunch is brilliant.

Local pub with easy access from the train station, great ale and friendly staff.

We stopped off for an early supper here,without any great expectations .however we found a very friendly atmosphere,an accommodating and very pleasant landlord, and a very decent meal. Very good prices too! What a find!

I go to this pub for an inexpensive sandwich when I am meeting nearby. It isn't fancy, but the food is very decent. Better than a cafe but at those sort of prices.

I was travelling through Billingshurst with two friends on a cycling trip. Stopped for lunch here. Huge portions at a very low price and quality of food was very high. Friendly staff and good summer beer garden.

I have eaten here often. The portions are huge. The menu is always varied, delicious and very reasonably priced with vegetarian options. A great atmosphere and friendly staff.

We have been fans of their Sunday Roasts for years now. Nathan is a chef extraordinaire. A great atmosphere and it feels like you are visiting family and friends. We really love it. Absolutely amazing value for money! I'm told the beer isn't bad either! Stella (The Landlady) is everybody's mum and it really feels like a pub should feel like. Fabulous job everyone!

Ahh, The Railway, first stop after a usually rubbish train journey home. I like this place because when I first visited many many years ago I was commuting to Horsham and fell asleep on the last train, eventually coming round 2 stops later at Billy. It was after closing time & Jake's lesser spotted taxi hire was shut - The Railway opened it's doors to me and gave me another taxi firm number and I've been a fan ever since - even though you do need a run up to make it to the bar across the sticky carpet (don't you dare change it).

We've been in The Railway many times since moving to Billingshurst last year. The lighting's bright, the football's intrusive, the jukebox music's woeful and the toilets are basic but when you just want a well-kept pint of HSB, a good bottle of prosecco and a chat with friends then you can't beat The Railway. We love it and we keep coming back!
