The Railway Inn in Gravesham

Outside the pub was renovated last year and it was quite nice to go there to sit outside. We went last weekend for pub lunch, weather did not permit us to sit outside. Inside looks run down and service was not great, food also not as I remembered. I was disappointed...no atmosphere 😔

Run down is an understement, attitude of staff rude,cold plates,no one seems to know menu, greasy chips,tough gammon.pudding all iced over. Coffee terrible,half a cup .do not visit !

Part of a group of 12 out to celebrate a birthday We entered the bar and were greeted by the landlord and had a few drinks in the bar There was a buzz in the room and you could tell it was going to be a great night We were then ushered through to the restaurant to our table don't go by appearances a bit rough and ready could do with a lick of paint And proceeded to have our Thai meal Starters were standard run off the mill but the main meals were to die for I had the seabass in oyster sauce. absolutely amazing Service was second to none This is how good the food and service was our table left a tip of £120 After the meal I went back to the bar where the girls behind the jump were spot on and we never waited to get served and had a great night with the locals The pub was rocking and had an amazing atmosphere ( 3 other tables celebrating birthdays) it was one of the best nights I've had in ages with great company food and service Great value for money overall with food and a few drinks £30 PP Can't wait to go back No pictures to busy enjoying the night

I tried this restaurant for a Thai meal. I’m not an expert on Thai food, but picked what sounded nice from the menu. Both my starter and my main was absolutely delicious. Will I return? Yes very soon

Having moved to the local area we had heard about the popular Thai night on a Thursday and a Friday evening. We made a booking over phone and turned up for 7PM! We shared spring rolls for a starter and both agreed they were some of the best we’ve tasted. For mains, I went for the Chicken Phanaeng (you can choose from chicken, pork, prawns etc) and it was absolutely delicious! So much intense and beautiful flavouring. My husband had the massaman and he also really enjoyed it. The tables were all set out so lovely and the food was impeccably presented. The bill came to around £50 for two of us including two beers and two glasses of wine! I cannot fault that at all. The standard of food I would happily pay for in London at a much higher price. We will definitely be back! Wish we could go again tonight!

I am part of a retirement club and 43 of us had lunch (all pre-ordered) on Tuesday. The food and service was excellent

we had a Thai takeaway as id been told such good things and i love Thai food but am constantly disappointed. i can honestly say this was one of the worst Thai meals we have ever had - it pretty much all went in the bin. the phad thai was tasteless - no chilli/ peanuts and no flavour it was a big gloopy mess. the green chicken curry was disgusting and was so pale it didnt even have a green tinge to it. the beef with chilli and thai basil had no chilli - i could taste curry powder in it and about 2 bits of thai basil - complete waste of money. may be they had somebody covering who didnt have a clue as a friend regularly eats there and says it was amazing - ive seen pictures and it looked nothing like mine. do not want to try again and waste more money!

Seven of us went today for Sunday lunch to celebrate my husbands big birthday. Service was good, staff very friendly and good value for money. The pub was busy but served quickly with no rush to get rid of us. We had a variety of courses and it included Roasts, Scampi, Ham Egg and Chips and Sausages. All the starters and mains were hot , well presented and tasty. We had no complaints at all.

Friendly pub , lovely landlord. The food was excellent ,well presented and plenty on your plate, fairly priced as well. Recommend the Fish cakes .... will be returning very soon.

Dropped in for a quick pint today (Sunday) and waited patiently for someone to get behind the bar to serve for what seemed like ages but was probably 5 minutes as my wife had time to go to the toilet and return. Then a girl seated at the end of the bar who had been using her phone got up and started serving people who had only just come in. It’s a dirty pub with no character whatsoever run by people who couldn’t give a monkey’s

A friendly place to have a drink and a meal if wanted

Nice country pub we found on our walk around Camer Park. Downfall was there didn't seem to be much seating on the pub side. The other side was a restaurant. We sat in the garden which was nice and large with a play area for toddlers. Nice place to stop for a pint after a country walk.

Great pub, very friendly staff, very lively, fabulous garden for the better weather and the Thai night & Sunday roasts were delicious. Nothing is too much trouble for a great team, and Dave the owner is lovely. Will definitely be going back when I visit my friends in the area again.

I love this pub. The staff are very friendly, especially Jess, macey, and Amy. They made me feel very welcome, with fast customer service, and poured perfect drinks. The Thai food was very nice, and fufiled my fantasies. Another extra mention for the bar staff, as it is a stressful and tricky job keeping us all refreshed however they have mastered it. I will be returning to thank the bar stuff, and hopefully meet them again. What clever young and talented ladies! Thank you railway inn for providing this experience.

We had the best Sunday Roast yesterday. lovely tasty Yorkies and crispy potatoes, lots of lovely chicken. Good price,will go again

Good food and friendly bar staff

Stopped in passing whilst out on a ride. Very friendly pub! Strangers are welcome, Bikers are as welcome, and as I saw for myself, dogs are also welcome in the bar area. Outdoor seating is also available. Good range of beers, wines and spirits and the food is well presented, generously portioned, reasonably priced and above all, absolutely delicious!

Had Sunday lunch here. It was divine, everything was so tasty, crispy roast potato’s! which you don’t get very often, when eating out. Yorkshire pudding superb. Fresh lovely vegetables. Couldn’t ask for more. Best roast I have had for a long time. Reasonable priced, and friendly staff. What more could you ask for. Definitely will be back.

We went on a Friday night for the Thai food experience. Don't be fooled by the slightly run down decor, the back room restaurant is away from the main pub though still a little too noisy. But the food - wow. Cooked as you wait and just magnificent the best Thai meal I have ever had. Started with spring rolls that were just about enough anyway, and the curry main course was out of this world. Very reasonably priced too. Five stars for the food without a doubt.

Took the family and some friends here for lunch. Its a nice country side pub with lots of character, the staff were all friendly and the service was good. The building and facilities and a little tired and ropey but I guess it adds to the character. We sat outside on the bench tables so the kids could play on climbing frame and slide, both of which have seen better days. The staff were all very friendly and attentive though and were on it with the service. We ordered some starters and mains, all of which turned up in good time. Food was ok for pub grub. I wouldn't recommend the ribs as they were overcooked and dry. The chips they serve here are delicious though. If you're visiting soon (Sept 21 at time of writing), they are running a bit of a limited offer in terms of food and drinks. I assume this is as we come out of lockdown and they get back on their feet. Overall, nice visit to a nice country side pub.

Absolutely amazing service!!! In this day and age I cant believe we have just had to experience racism from the bar lady who decides to ignore the people of colour and serv others when the bar only had a handful of people in the bar. Would never go back or recommend it to anyone else of colour.

We were lucky in the Spadeworks Christmas raffle and won a 3 course meal for 2 at the Railway Inn Sole Street. We decided to use it on Thai night. The food was delicious. We had starters, main and dessert, couldn’t fault anything. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I felt at ease as the pub had all COVID sanitising and distancing measures in place. Thank you we will definitely return soon.

A spontaneous dinner visit here and was really impressed.Living local to here, we have surprisingly never visited but we saw they were taking part in the eat out scheme so decided to head here for dinner and we were not disappointed.The food was amazing, service was great,owners were really friendly. We had an amazing meal from here last night on Thai night! We had Penang, massaman and Thai curries, rice, prawn toast, spring rolls and prawn crackers and everything was absolutely delicious. Great value for money as well as we ordered for 6 and only spent £13 each. Will 100% be ordering again very impressed!

We have had several meals here and they have always been fantastic, the staff are very friendly and helpful, we have also had celebrations here with their buffet which is always amazing and very good value. This mothers day we had a takeaway meal for 6 and it was really lovely it was a 3 course meal, we will be back

First time to the pub, we wanted some lunch and I remembered seeing this pub as we drove to Cobham so I had a google and saw online they had a light bites menu. It’s a dated pub with brilliant old railway signs dotted around, the lady behind the bar was so lovely, made us feel very welcome with our little toddler (which is always a worry when you walk into a new pub!). We had a jacket and a baguette and it was really yummy! Would benefit from a little refurb in places but having such yummy and well prepared food along with a lovely lady looking after the bar, it didn’t make much difference! We will definitely be back!

We took my mother for lunch on Tuesday. Having enjoyed a very good and reasonably price Scampi and Chips I went to settle our bill. When given the bill by the barman I paid using £20 notes thinking they were tenners. Neither of us noticed my mistake at first so he gave me the correct change had I paid in tenners. We started to leave the pub saying thanks for the lovely meal. Over my shoulder I heard "excuse me, EXCUSE ME!" and turned to see the barman waving several £20 notes and asking "did you pay too much?". Gratefully i understood my error and he reimbursed me. His honesty was amazing. I would recommend this pub any day. Not only for the honesty of the bar staff but for the fine food and good real ales they serve.

10/10. Held our sons 21st birthday party last night. Dave and his staff were excellent so helpful and friendly. Buffett food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you so much for an amazing time. Recommend 100%

We three were warmly welcomed and seated for our Christmas Day lunch. All the courses were attractively presented, except for the main course, which was so huge with all 9 items piled high on the plate and somewhat detracted from it’s appearance. Feeling guilty at the thought of having to leave so much good food uneaten, we asked for a doggy bag! The owners son said that they didn’t want anyone to go home hungry, but that would never be the case even with portions reduced by half. All in all, though, a very good experience, with a home from home atmosphere and great value for money.

We a party of 8 a mixture of old and young had Christmas dinner and the service and food was very good. If I had one issue it would be that the portions were huge. The staff coped very well with a busy service and they were friendly including the manager who made us feel welcome. Just under £70 per head for a five course dinner of could quality is very good value considering you would pay £60 at a Beefeater and not get the quality or ambience. Thanks to Dave and all the staff.

Welcoming inn, appropriately next to the railway station, serving some local ales like Dartford Wobbler (which was not quite to my taste). Useful if you are waiting to catch a train.

Went to the Thursday Thai Night with a friend. The food was excellent. I had read previous comments about the service but had no problems. The food arrived promptly and was fresh and hot. Will certainly be going again.

I booked a table for 10 after visiting the Railway Inn to have a meal with my wife. The Landlord & staff were very hospitable. We all had a Thai meal which we all agreed was delicious and very good value. This venue is highly recommended

Looking for a venue that could accommodate family members including a couple in pushchairs, Railway Inn, Sole Street was suggested. Went last night, Retro Russ the dj was there, such a nice atmosphere, very friendly. Had a lovely catch up with extended family for my birthday. Easy parking, friendly staff, made to feel welcome- we’ll definitely be back. M

Great pub and pistes. Kent v Chiltern at Petanque. Was boiling hot, everybody wilting, but so much fun and camaraderie. Lovely lunch and wonderful staff headed by Dave. Was a long day finishing at 7 pm from 10 am. Many thanks to our Kent Region hosts. A warm welcome (no pun intended!) And some very hard earned wins on either side.

Booked a table for the Thai last Thursday for my father in laws birthday.Table booked for 7pm and we sat down at that time.Ordered some drinks - beer that came was off so had to send it back to change to something else. Not an easy task as I couldn't get anyone on table service's attention (there was only 2 of them) so had to get up and go and find someone to sort it.Half the starters came out not long after ordering and then about 5 or more minutes after that, the other half of them came. This was easily before 8pm.As we approached 9pm I went and asked what was happening with the food to be told that they were just being plated up, something about missing the order and they were very busy. At this point there were only 7 tables in use. I pointed out it didn't look busy and they told me they had a lot of take aways. I guess from this comment and the lack of food on anyones table, they prioritised the take aways above the people in their restaurant. Not long after, 2 other tables walked out - i guess they gave up waiting.Our empty glasses hadn't been cleared away so i had to stack them up on the window sill to make room for our food.Just after 9pm our food finally arrived - 2 hours after we first sat down. Not great as we had two kids with us who were beyond hungry by this stage.The waiter who brought the food out told us he didn't know what the dishes were. He actually said "This is a chicken something" and then stood there with it looking at us waiting for one of us to claim it. We also got a "I think this is an egg fried rice"..... which turned out to be cold.As for the food - it was beyond spicy. I order a dish that showed as mild on the menu but it was so spicy I couldn't finish it. I asked for the bill and when i went to pay i asked to speak to the manager. I got told they were plating up some food and would be 2 minutes. Over 5 minutes later still no sign of the manager, obviously not wanting to speak to me or too busy sorting out take aways - either way, clear they were not interested in engaging with customers in their venue that evening. We spent enough time waiting for the evening so i gave up and left.Overall - pretty appalling experience due to the ridiculously long wait for any food that was not that great and equally customer service and lack of interest by the invisible manger.

Generally been a decent pub, but looking a bit shabby and neglected. Go there and enjoy, but they need to up their game.

I held my sisters Gender reveal party in March 2019. Staff were very helpful, couldn’t fault anything! Lovely food. Highly recommend for a function or even just Sunday lunch.

Popped in for a light lunch with my grandparents and uncle, just the four of us. I had a delicious prawn jacket that came with a lovely side salad. Others had the scampi and chips basket which was a great size, great value for money and very tasty! Staff were very friendly and welcoming too, will definitely be returning!
