First visit. Asked for a dry medium and a sweet Rose. barmaid looked at me like I’d dropped out of space. They only had one Rose it was cheap as chips. Pub had no atmosphere would not be going back

This is the second time of eating here in the past month. Two weekends ago we had Sunday lunch which was everything it should be. Yesterday we stopped for a lunch. Lovely food again. Landlady is lovely and very friendly. Really nice atmosphere and nothing too much trouble.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Food was very reasonably priced and what we had was excellent. Very friendly feel from regulars too.

Booked a week in advanced to meet up with 6 friends for 1pm, for a nice lunch and catch up. The waitress said we couldn’t have mash as the potatoes were still boiling. Most of the meals on the menu were with mash. Then we asked for desserts which was about 2pm. The waitress told us the kitchen was closed and the cook had gone home. Meals are served from 12-3pm. We asked for coffee which tasted like chemicals awful. The waitress was looking at her phone most of the time. Then to top it all service charge was added to the bill without asking us. It’s just a pub not a restaurant. Will definitely not be returning. What and experience.

We booked well in advance for 6 ppl for lunch. We were told no mash! As they were still boiling. Which a few of us wanted liver bacon with mash. We asked for the desert menu! Which the barmaid said “the kitchen was closed” which was 2pm. She was pleasant but on her I phone all the time! She should have asked us in time to order the desserts. We asked for coffees, which was awful! chemical tasting. To top it all a service charge was added to the bill in advance without asking us. It’s just an old pub not a restaurant. We go out every Thursday for lunch we will not be going back that’s for sure. The website stated lunch time food is served 12-3pm.

First Impressions, Lasting Impressions and definitely returning! From the moment I walked through the door, the familial embrace was palpable. The owners have created an ambiance that feels like an extension of their home – cozy&inviting with old-fashioned warmth and rustic decor all whilst providing the utmost of welcomes, treating each patron and regular like one of their own. The same goes for the bar-staff who bring an uplifting energy with each interaction which ended up compelling me to re-visit the bar almost every five minutes! I enjoyed a perfectly poured ale from their selection of draughts whilst relaxing next to their fireplace which made it truly feel like that of a place reminiscing home. Above all else the meal that kitchen staff provided me shows a clear and concise dedication to pleasing their consumers; the menu is a treasure trove of delights, the dishes I saw each looking like a lovingly hand crafted meal. After talking to the owners briefly it is easy to grasp just how hard they work for this business, they have proved that even when facing personal challenges and family emergencies, you really can continue to deliver an impeccable dining experience. Cracking! I stay here often due to work commitments. Always a warm welcome,rooms are clean and presentable. Lovely village with a lot of nice / crazy locals all very sociable. Trudies staff are always polite and helpful. Wednesday Thai nites are well worth a shot. Just a note for the travel snobs. This is a local pub with accommodation! not a 5 star hotel.with over inflated price. Good clean down to earth with great pub grub if you wish.

If it was a varnish you'd say it does what it says on the tin. Zero pretensions and if you like a pub that feels like a pub then this achieves that with far more ease than most

Niet geschikt Onlangs in het weekend hebben we hier overnacht. Bij aankomst rond 17.00 was het pand geheel donker. Door omstandigheden waren er geen mensen aanwezig. Na rondvraag in de buurt en een half uurtje wachten konden in onze kamer. Via een spekgladde trap met dito trapleuning buitenom naar de eerste verdieping. De buitendeur klemt enorm en past niet in het kozijn. Kan dus ook niet op slot. We komen in een gang met grijze vloerbedekking die de door de inloop erg smerig is. De kamer die voor ons bestemd is heeft nog sporen van de vorige bewoner in de wc pot. Tot zover de aankomst. We gaan in een andere pub wat eten. Daarna naar een concert. In de avond komen we terug. We gaan ook nog even naar de pub beneden. Een rondje van zaak was op zijn plek geweest. Maar we rekenen gewoon af….. We krijgen een andere kamer. Een met twee dakramen. We kunnen deze niet bedienen en niet naar buiten kijken. Niet prettig, een donker hol. Dan de badkamer. De loodgieter was nog niet geweest zo vertelde de eigenaar. Lekkage van de douche, kletsnatte vloer en opgezet spaanplaat panelen. 80 euro betaald voor de overnachting zonder ontbijt. Dat is echt te veel. De volgende nacht overnacht in Folkstone in een keurige kamer inclusief Engels ontbijt voor hetzelfde bedrag.

Good food, but the service was a little slow.

We wanted a ploughmans lunch and searched online. They did not disappoint! It looked well presented, fresh fruit and salad, chunky ham.... beautiful. Service was good. The only complaint was £2.50 for a small glass of lemonade, not even half a pint, out of the pump is a bit steep.

Visited Last night for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Really can’t fault our experience, we had a beautiful meal with Trudy and the team and the bar is well kept and well stocked. A really friendly place to spend a few hours.

My partner had scampi and chips that he enjoyed. I enjoyed my sandwich but their was hardly any tuna mayonnaise in my roll.

I would have chosen fish and chips rather than darnley burger, however, all was OK, the wife had ploughman's and she loved.

Just arrived back from a wonderful Sunday roast lunch. Best we have eaten out for ages. Served very well cooked and piping hot. All tasted home made. Lovely cheerful helpful staff and reasonably priced. Well done Darnley Arms. We will definitely be back.

Visited for lunch. First time eating here and will definitely go back. Fish and chips was lovely and the burger my friend had looked excellent. A proper pub with attentive staff. Turned up without reservation and pub was very pleasant and welcoming. Immediately put two tables together for our group. throughout whole evening, had a laugh with staff, good banter. Pub was busy with darts teams in other bar area but still our service was great. Portions of food was much more than generous and all very tasty indeed. Very reasonable prices too.

Booked in advance for the 13-03-2022, always a good plan... We were running late and phoned to advise. We arrived around 14:30 and in my experience not a good time as it is near end of session and Sundays are always a busy day for any establishment. However not a problem! We were welcomed with very friendly, helpful and engaging staff. This is a Pub/Restaurant but a genuine old style one where you are made to feel welcome and treated as a person and not just another customer. Regarding the food: I had the Lamb Shank and my partner had the Roast Beef. Both of which were outstanding! The Roast Potatoes being of particular note. My Lamb fell off the bone and was cooked perfectly, as was the Roast Beef. Excellent, genuine cooked in house food. Would highly recommend...

This is the second time I have written a review, obviously censored as the first did not appear. Pub closed, no coffee, no soap, no shampoo, only 1 milk long life, no breakfast. Told to go to a local greasy spoon in our funeral clothes. Had to drive to Meopham to get coffee and milk. Had breakfast down the road. As a room, fine everything else terrible!

I love it when I go into a pub when the get the basics right. Keeping the ale for example. Excellent pint. Mobile service a bit dodgy there, so a bit of emphasis on WiFi might help. But a lovely place.

Went there for lunch. Food not very special and overpriced for what is was. Complained about one dish (which was decidedly rough) and had to withstand the wrath of the manager lady. Lady behind bar was nice. Won't be back.

A party of four of us ate here about six weeks ago and the service was good and prompt, and the food was great (especially the pie and steak and kidney suet pudding).

Visited on 12th April and had the Chicken and leek pie. Pie was very good. One of my party had the Stilton which was also good. Meals served quickly. Unfortunately didn’t have the first choice meal for one of my party.

It was so cold in the room we were wearing hats and wore our clothes in the bed . We had piled coats and towels on top . There was no way to contact the owners as our phone wasn’t working . At 3.00am we were going into hyperthermia and that is not an exaggeration as we are both in our 70s and the temperature that night was minus 2 . We banged very loudly on the locked fire door and begged them to put on some heating , which they did but the main radiator wasn’t working so the room never really got warm . They were very rude about it and only offered a 50% discount .

I live round the corner from the darnley arms and have been waiting for the weather to turn so I can have a nice wintery meal. Last winter I must have ordered the steak and kidney pudding 4-5 times and although inconsistent, was always at least good.

I have a lunch here fairly regularly, the attraction is the tasty food and good selection of local ales. The prices are very competitive with other pubs in the area. Friendly intimate atmosphere in an old English country pub.

Went last night with 6 friends.

The young woman who took our order and also served behind the bar was very pleasant but clearly overworked. It really shouldn’t take nearly an hour for our lunch order to be served especially as we had prebooked.

We are regulars of the Darnley Arms (around three visits a week) and love this pub. The owners Bruce and Trudy always make us feel welcome and their son and daughter work hard to make this a proper family run pub. Nothing here is too much trouble.

So was looking forward to sunday lunch booked for 4pm turned up to be told kitchen shut and no register of my booking, are you sure you booked here, i showed the phone log, i was like can i get an orange juice as im type one diabetic and was expecting to eat, despite the oh im sorry you cant eat i was charged for the juice and sent on my way poor service

We were forced down the road to seek lunch because of the lack of food and service at The Ship.

Friends came with us for a meal. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Pub was clean. Staff were very friendly.Came a couple of years ago and the pub was not at all clean. It is now under new management and would recommend this to anyone. Coming back in a few weeks time for a larger group of friends. Food very reasonable and plenty of it.

Due to work commitments in the area, have now been staying here for almost 12 months 3-4 night a week. That is testament on its own to the good service excellent food that i have received from the owners Bruce & Trudie. This is a real village pub with locals who are very friendly and make strangers to the village feel very welcome.

We loved our stay at Darnley arms, the owners were very accomodating and friendly. The room and beds were comfortable and very clean. we had a quiet room at the end of the hall on the second floor. We had just arrived there from a horseback riding trip in Sicly and I was aching and asked where there was a drug store so I could get some pain pills. the owner gave me some from his own stash. I so appreciated that since we were there for only a short visit to visit family and didn't really want to take time out to go to a drug store. the owner made breakfast for us on request, which was delicious. The Pub and eatery downstairs so charming. We invited family later for food and drinks there. We also were allowed to use their washer and dryer to wash our clothes from our horseback riding trip so we wouldn't smell like horses. We loved staying at Darnely Arms and wouldn't hesitate returning.

Nos alojamos en los brazos Darnley en un viaje reciente a Gravesend para la barcaza Támesis coinciden. El pub apropiado para nosotros porque no sirve desayuno, a menos que solicite la noche antes, como teníamos que dejar el Pub a 5. 45:00 en la mañana, significa que no tienes que pagar por un desayuno que no habría.

Stumbled across this pub when looking for accommodation while on Business, am now staying 2-3 nights a week and its a home from home. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. One of the many features of the pub is the Thai evening where authentic Thai cuisine is served :)The locals are also friendly which provides a good atmosphere.The rooms are clean and comfortable and very good value for money.Overall a great Country Village Pub.

We go there at lunchtime. In this small village you are spoiled for choice for pubs, but we recommend that you give the Darnley a try as it is such a friendly old fashioned English local that welcomes visitors.

The pub is great, very homey feel with nice people, good prices for drinks. the food is delicious, I had a Lincolnshire sausage with mash and because I asked for no peas, I was given a little dish of vegetables. the staff were all really happy and chatty. We stayed the night as well, he room was very clean and spacious, modern decoration,nice big shower, very comfy beds and lots of plugs. I wouldn't stay again though as the motor from the extractor fan in the bathroom kept going for 20 minutes after the light was turned off and it was really loud, the toilet had water dripping into it all time, the toilet took about half an hour to fill up with water before we could flush it again, the radiator started clanging when it came on, you could hear other people in their rooms and when the pub closed you could hear loud banging from doors closing. It was hard to get off to sleep with all the noise and if one of went to the toilet in the night, it would start the motor off again. I'd definitely go back for food in the pub, absolutely delicious.

7 of us dined here for Sunday lunch. The starters, mains and desserts were all excellent.The staff were friendly and efficient.Toilets were clean.The pub has been decorated for Christmas and it was heartwarming to see a real fir tree and not some artificial creation as seen last year in a Michelin starred restaurant in North Lincolnshire! If a pub can manage to have a real tree then so should other establishments.Will definitely visit again when seeing family in the area.

The darnley is the only place in cobham you can get a good pint of bitter or real ale. I hear the larger is good aswell but as an ale man i wouldnt know. The thai food offerd on a wednesday is a real treat. As far as im conserned its the only pub in cobham worth going to.

Good atmos, real ale although non to my liking, great food and priced well. Next time I'm at Brands Hatch I'll be staying here if possible.

We dropped into the Darnley just as a change to the other pubs in the village and for a quick bite, the food and service were first class as was the quality of the beer !The menu isn't extensive but what there is is of a high quality - thoroughly recommended and will be making a return visit there in the near future !

I was looking for somewhere to take my partner on his birthday for something to eat. We have a four month old husky puppy and wanted to take her with us. I gave the darnley arms a call and asked them if it would be OK. I spoke to a friendly lady on the phone which gave me all the information about opening times, food serving times, parking etc. So we decided to go. The staff were absolutely lovely, very welcoming and made a huge fuss of my little fur baby. The locals were equally as warm and friendly. Food and service were 1st class and we will definitely be going back. Even our husky pup made a new friend. She spent a time playing with a beautiful chow pup who was very at home in the pub and had quite obviously been made as welcome as us and our dog. Would recommend this place to anyone and would highly recommend if you like being able to take your dog with you too.

Myself and my partner, nikki, popped in here yesterday for a drink. Truly and Bruce were very welcoming and the barstaff friendly. Great selection of beers on offer and I have to admit that my partner ended up driving home . This is a great little (traditional) pub in a quiet village with a massive garden edging onto a park. We would definitely recommend stopping in for a drink and will visit again when in the area
