This must be the worst pub in Leyland!! The toilets smell awful, so damp it makes you feel sick. No toilet paper, no soap. The whole venue is dirty. It's full of kids... almost like a youth club! The place needs closing down.

My brother-in-law and I visited The Railway today, and it was an outstanding experience! The owner, Jake, was absolutely sound. We visited 4-5 other pubs in Leyland, and The Railway was the best by a mile. It has a welcoming atmosphere that sets it apart from the rest. The quality here is top-notch. Overall, The Railway is a top-class pub with great drinks and really decent locals. If you’re in Leyland, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Had my wife's 60th birthday party in the upstairs function room, brilliant night, thanks to all the staff who helped make it special.

Great staff, excellent service. Can not comment on the food because I've only had food on a pool night, having said that that was good.

Do you like to wait nearly an hour to get a drink when the place isn't even particularly busy? Do you like to be harassed by bouncers when you haven't done anything wrong? Do you enjoy a tired, desperate in need of some renovation aesthetic? The railway is truly the worst pub/bar in Leyland. Avoid it for your own sake...

Awful place. Toilets are dirty and overall disgusting. Place was like a youth club! The outside area is just as grim as the toilets. Such a shame as could be a fabulous place, with a good clean up!

Posting as I dont want anyone to have go through this....... Had christening booked at Railway pub, Leyland for today, set the room up this morning. Turned up after church service, no food, no staff, no1 answering any phones. Had to order a load of domino's to feed everyone (62 guests)! Young girl turned up mid food say manager been called away n sorry..... she been in flat upstairs whole time while we was trying get hold of someone find out wat goin on! 2 men turned up collect there equipment from party night before saying they had stuff missing (microphones, disco lights etc), the place was filthy wen turned up there party. We had paid deposit, confirmed food order etc. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE OR FIND AN ALTERNATIVE!!

This place has rapidly descended into the local dosshouse for the local idiots/ undesirables/ smackheads. Lacks any kind of proper management . Won't be be surprised if they lose their licence! Will not be returning anytime soon, such a shame, as over the years, we've spent a lot of money over the bar. Not any more

DJ does not play requested songs, said he’s not playing any Christmas songs on CHRISTMAS. Pub stinks and the floor is sticky. Avoid .

Went here on a night out, lovely little pub, first time I’ve ever been, great atmosphere and DJ and great prices for beer, the floors were very sticky but that’s understandable when everyone’s dancing and drinks lovely clean place

Really helpful and supportive staff especially Liam whilst organising the wake for our sons funeral. Food good. Excellent value. Function room good size.

Changed hands but still the same clientele, foul language kids climbing all over the seats and the toilets are disgusting. They are trying but need to be stricter to keep the riff raff out and attract a better quality of guests. The new food menu looks OK but time will tell.

Wouldn't even give this place 1 star... calls itself a respectable pub but allows under 18s that are absolutely hammered, not to mention the door staff who are unprovocatively aggressive and allow drugs onto the premises...should be ashamed its gone massively downhill, wouldn't waste your time!

The Railway has become the worst pub in Leyland. The bouncers are heavy handed and rude. The bar is ridiculously understaffed to the point where it takes 45 minutes to get a drink on average. When you do get a drink it tastes watered down. You can't get a decent pint in the place for love nor money. This once great pub has become a symbol of greed and poor ownership. Avoid at all costs.

Good pub, went for a birthday party, decent buffet provided, and you can stay over in your motorhome/ campervan which is a great bonus.

Went for a Christening do for my Great Niece, we were in the function room upstairs. Nicely set up with plenty of things for the children to do. The food was nice too but there weren't enough seats and no real ale! We had to take our dog with us and we were disappointed there was no beer garden.

Great pub. Always visit when having a day in leyland with my friends. Competitive prices and great for sports fans. Plenty of tv screens around the pub. Great staff. Worth a visit..🙂🙂

Very friendly bar staff. This is probably a locals pub but we called in whilst waiting for our pizza order next door and were very pleasantly surprised at the friendly welcome and the comfortable surroundings. The pub clearly caters for a gap in the market providing a DJ and dance floor, Friday and Saturday so that everyone can enjoy weekend in a local establishment. I can't comment on how that is as we only called in around 7.45 but if you do order a pizza next door and fancy a drink while you wait call in, you might be pleasantly surprised

For supposedly what once was the sports pub of the North West, it hasn't half gone down hill. They have real ale pumps. Clearly management have forgotten what they are for as there was nothing on.

Good beer, service and atmosphere

Absolutely brilliant service really good cider it was at the passing of a friend's sister but everybody was very respectful and the food was fantastic even though that was done by a buffet service all told the railway did them proud a definite 9 out of 10

OK place not a great selection of ales staff a bit rude and a bit up themselves

I had my late husbands wake here yesterday and it was simply fantastic. Annamarie and her staff could not do enough for us. The functions room great large comfortable with a little outdoor terrace. We were made to feel very special and quite honestly we could have not got anywhere more special. At this time of covid restrictions we did have all the track and trace regulations and social distancing, but because the upstairs is very comfortable for 30 and the downstairs is really spacious we all had a safe space. Well done and thank you to a very special lady Annamarie and great support staff.

Fantastic place! Huge! Extremely friendly brilliant staff and brilliantly covid safe! Also you can hire the railway suite upstairs for private functions! Top marks!

The function suite is a great venue. It's well set out with ample parking and the benifit of a lift I would definitely recommend

I have visited here a couple of times before, and had a nice time. On this occasion we was told by the bouncers to order our drinks, and then sit down. There was a DJ on, and the dance floor was covered with tables and chairs for people to sit. The place had no atmosphere, and was very quiet. Very unusual.

Used to be a regular here but hadn’t been in for a while. Had a couple of good nights recently. Ann Marie and Jim are great hosts. Good live music, decent priced drinks along with a good sized function room. Will hopefully be in again soon.

What a fab venue, perfect size for the kids to run around, food was lovely especially the top up of chips 😋. The DJ played a variety of music and the staff couldn't do enough, would definitely recommend this venue

Great night for our daughters 40th birthday party on February 15th.All staff was great they couldn't do enough for us. Plenty of food .manager was there during the day to make sure we had everything we needed, l would highly recommend the railway for any function.

Had a great night recently at our daughter's 40th birthday party. The venue, staff, DJ and food were all great. Would definitely recommend the Railway for gathering of friends and family or any sort of celebration. Ann Marie was very attentive of our needs and the staff were brilliant.

I recently had my 40th birthday party here upstairs in the function room. The staff were amazing the food was excellent and generous the dj played a variety of music and even did an hour of music for the children which my children loved. Ann Marie organised everything for me with enthusiasm and passion my party was truly memorable and we all loved it I highly recommend this venue.

On a visit here, I was overcharged. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t realise until getting home. Straightaway, I attempted to bring this matter to the attention of the management team through leaving voicemails on the telephone (the telephone was never answered) and by email. Proof of my visit was sent in the form of my receipt. At this time, non of my communication was acknowledged. It was simply ignored. Several weeks later, I found the establishments Facebook Messenger page. On leaving a message, I finally received an acknowledgment. Whoever made the acknowledgement simply did not wish to take ownership of the matter and showed a degree of arrogance and rudeness. After several message exchanges, I was offered the opportunity to return for a complimentary drink but not being a local person to establishment, I was unable to accept. Instead and in order to conclude the matter, I requested a refund of the overcharges but to absolutely no avail. My experience of this establishment has not been good. On any visit here, please check and double check any charges made to you. It seems from my personal experience, if an error is made, you will be disbelieved and treated in the most appalling, shoddy manner. Customer Service levels here are sadly very poor.

Went to watch lfc v man city fantastic bar service they even put on small free buffet for customers which tasted good. Gin selection was fab.. Toilets where clean only problem was very sticky floor

Great place for a party! Upstairs has its own bar, toilets and out door covered smoking area!

We arrived to watch the England game, halfway through they played blasting music so we couldn’t even follow the game we had come to watch. Then they increased the volume as they played karaoke with a grand total of 5 people in the pub. I had to watch England concede with a tone deaf Robbie Williams (if he wasn’t anyway) singing flying without wings. It’s ruined my night, that and the fact it’s £4 a pint. Avoid at all costs, especially if you value your eardrums.

Very expensive but tends to be decent music.

Used the upstairs function room. It was perfect for our party, there is even a small smoking area at the rear, so people didn't need to leave the venue area for a smoke. Good price for drinks and the owners looked after us.

Some members of the staff to be honest need to work on people person skills. But all in all not a bad venue to watch the football.

Great staff and place to hang out with friends

I can only echo the previous review read the function room. Anne Marie was so helpful and accommodating from first contact. Booked the room for a fundraising gig and so many people remarked on what a great room it is. Very clean and tidy and nicely decorated-there's even a lift for those less able-or to get PA equipment upstairs-and there's an excellent lighting rig and sound system. Someone also remarked that the toilets were the best they'd seen in a pub! Anne Marie and the lady behind the bar were so friendly and welcoming. Thanks very much. Can definitely recommend for any function.

Booked the function suite at The Railway for a christening function today. Anne Marie and Kelly bent over backwards to accommodate us and couldn't have done anymore. They sorted all the balloons, banners, buffet food and even put on extra food for the kids. The food was lovely and the venue clean throughout. We would highly recommend and it will be our first thought for any future functions. Thank you.

Under new management. What a difference! A safe cozy friendly pub with lots of class alcohols to choose from. Live TVs and games area. Large outdoor seating and separate function room for hire. Also live music with talented artists. Highly recommended!

The Railway in Leyland is under new management, had a refurb, new door security and new bar staff. It is much improved pub now with a large variety of various alcohols, wine and spirits to choose from. There are live music acts, live sports on the many TVs & pool table/games area. Also a large outdoor seated area with heaters, lighting and bar that will open from springtime. Food will also come onto the menu. This pub once again feels like a relaxing and safe environment to enjoy a night out having improved from how it has been over the last few years. There is a separate function room, which can be hired at a reasonable price. The Railway pub manager is vice chairman of the local 'Pubwatch' & is working hard to make this successful. A recommended place to visit.

I came here on a Friday night and received outstanding friendly service from the new lady Anna Marie. She made us feel very welcome and we had such a good laugh with her. I am looking forward to my next visit . Great friendly atmosphere and a good crowd in this pub.

Was a nice place. Relatively modern.

What a total disgrace. I was let in wearing my hat (due to surgery). Asked to leave by not one but two lackey’s trying to earn a few quid. Spend over 3 hours buying drinks before hand, total joke. Absolute disgrace, like every other time I’ve been in this absolutely crap hive.

What a joke this place is... Got served 2 pints of Fosters in warm glasses .... So the beer was flat before we even tasted it ..... Took it back to girl behind the bar and she was going to pour it into another WARM glass and all she could do was mourn that they had no staff and was told by another member of staff at 5.58pm that she finished at 6pm and could not serve me because she was 7 month's pregnant.... Told the other girl I wanted a fresh one and to my absolute amazement she started to pour me another pint into another warm glass ..... Avoid this place like the plague it's overpriced and the staff haven't got a clue what they are doing ..... It's a shame really because it looks like it could be a decent bar ..... Unfortunately the staff haven't a clue how to run it

25 minutes of watching people walk to the bar after me and get served and when I questioned it I was scowled at and ignored further... absolute joke of customer service.

Only one bitter pump in evidence, not available. Cider was cooling tho'. Had a bit of free lunch which was absolutely fine.

Friendly pub well maintained. Large car park at the rear. My first visit, would recommend to others. Also large area outside to sit.

Shocking service at the bar, staff constantly serving their friends rather than those who had been waiting. Terrible dj, over the top mixing of songs and ending the good ones early. Stuck to the floor all over. Overhearing conversations like "I'm gonna knock her out if she looks at me like that again". Will never be returning!

Great local however toilets are in urgent need of TLC. Missing toilet seats and never any tissue. Needs sorting ASAP

Went to a Chritening no glutton free options and you couldn't use your bank card. The worst thing was that the 3 toilets had no toilet paper in them.

The new manager is absolutely rude and just sits there playing on the laptop, drinking from the bar and swearing at customers. I have seen the woman drunk on several occasions. Her lad walks in to the pub and just goes behind the bar and helps himself to crisps, drinks and god knows what else. She has no interest in serving customers and I have walked out twice without being served. The pub was the place to go at one stage when ran by Dan but these people have totally destroyed the reputation and people are not going in anymore. We want the railway back to how it was and we as the community are not visiting it anymore. The owners need to look at takings and realise something is wrong. The new management are destroying the great reputation of the pub. Look at the books?? You will realise your profits have cliff dived. If the owners act now then maybe in a few years time the place can be how it was. BUT it is going to be a big repair to gain the community trust and custom back. The toilets are dirty and drug residue or what I suspected was drug residue was on the toilets seat. They stink of ammonia and the chef didn’t even wash his hands when he left the toilet. I was absolutely disgusted with everything. There are bits of crisps all over, spilt drinks left on tables (probably from night before) and glasses left all over. It is an utter disgrace. #wewantourrailwayback. PS, tripadvisor should let us mark below 1 star for these places.
