Want to say a big thank you to billy and Claudia for helping with our order tonight! The website allowed me to order a delivery when the delivery driver had finished for the day, so they refunded us with the Delivery charge that I paid and a slice cake! Food was absolutely banging and will defiantly be ordering again! Thanks again to the team!

In the illustrious annals of culinary calamity, there are few experiences as utterly dismal as my recent visit to The Railway. Ah, The Railway—a name that conjures visions of rustic charm and hearty fare. Alas, what I encountered was a dining disaster so profound it would make even the most hardened food critic weep in despair. I ordered the so-called 'All Day Breakfast,' a dish which, in its very essence, should be a celebration of simple pleasures. But instead, I was presented with a plate that was less a meal and more a collection of culinary crimes. The sausages, if one could call them that, were abominations—cheap, flavourless tubes of grease that left an aftertaste so vile, I can only imagine they were the product of some nefarious bargain with the lowest bidder. The bacon, which should have been a crispy, salty delight, was akin to gnawing on a piece of charred rock, a challenge more suited to a dental endurance test than to any plate. The tater tots were not the golden, crispy morsels of comfort one expects but rather greasy, soggy sponges that seemed to ooze disappointment with every bite. The eggs, an element so fundamental to any breakfast, were overcooked to the point of becoming rubbery caricatures of their former selves. And the pièce de résistance—this wretched feast didn’t even fit on the plate properly, a slapdash presentation that screamed of carelessness. But, as I contemplated the tragedy that was my meal, I glanced across the table at my partner’s 'Hunter’s Chicken,' a dish that promised the comforting embrace of BBQ sauce, cheese, and tender chicken. How naive we were. The sauce was an unholy concoction, neither tangy nor sweet, but instead a bizarre, off-putting slop that masked whatever sins the cheese and chicken had already committed. The chicken itself—oh, the chicken—was a grotesque parody of what poultry should be, tasting so foul that one wonders if it had ever known the light of day before finding itself on our plates. It is said that one bad meal can spoil an entire dining establishment, and I fear The Railway has managed to ruin any chance of redemption. A kitchen that fails so profoundly on every level deserves not the patronage of discerning diners but rather the cold, harsh light of critical scrutiny. Needless to say, The Railway has derailed itself, and I shall not be returning to witness any further culinary train wrecks.

Hired the function room out for our sons christening party on 12th March the staff were welcoming and asked how I'd like the room setting up ect, Service with a smile as always and friendly anything we needed they helped with all round amazing staff definatly going to hire the room again x

Was a Curious little locals boozer where the locals decide what wins in the jukebox v telly debate- but the landlord has left and it now appears to be vacant

Decent little place - proper locals pub! Cheap beer and staff were lovely. Once grievance was that it did feel like a local and thus the crowd didn't seem too pleased we popped in for a drink.

If I could leave no stars I would. Walking past this establishment a comment was made that we did not like it. The landlord happened to be outside - he called us all a bunch of c**ts - completely unnecessary and incredibly offensive.

Great place brilliant atmosphere kay & John are a great team . Proud to call this my local.

Cracking pub, good beers, friendly and welcoming staff, juke box, pool table and dartboard, regular Saturday night entertainment with live music. Big function room that can be hired out for private partys. Friendly locals.

Nice pint of Doom Bar. If you can get past its overall appearance it's not a bad place to pop in and have a couple of pints.

This used to be my Father’s Sisters pub, Tommy Smith, remember those days from way back, goodness knows when.

Great family friendly pub, great service and always feel welcome, from putting your own music on the music box and football on the multiple TVs they have to offer they can cater to anyone and need i not mention the incredible sunday lunch they do.

The Railway has been closed for a while and has now reopened after some refurbishment and now offers a carvery menu. We tried this new menu today and the roast beef and pork lunches were very tasty. It’s standard pub carvery with no pretensions and everyone seemed to be enjoying their lunch this Sunday. We look forward to our next visit.

My pub research before coming to Oakham suggested that the pub had three real ales on tap - but only London Pride was available - a poor result after searching the place out. Also, a local got served before me - an outsider - when I was due to be served... I don't like that kind of bar-keeping.

The worst landlord I’ve ever met. Very rude and ignorant. Spends more time outside ignoring customers waiting at the bar. You certainly took your time in replying. Too busy smoking were you?

You would not expect bad language in front of children from the bar staff. DONT visit with children!

Only one real ale, and it was off.

The railway is an excellent venue for sports and my friend and I have visited on numerous occasions to take advantage of their live football.My friend and I like real ale and the railway normally served a very good pint so we visited to watch the England v Malta match.Horror...... the pub had run out of beer. This was noticeable as the pub was empty. Normally on a England football match the place is packed.We turned around and walked out. Very disappointing. This is normally a good pub with good staff

Los pubs están sobre los clientes, pero aquí, no todos los clientes. Situado junto a la estación, que esperas una cálida bienvenida de los lugareños, desgraciadamente no. Habiendo despreciado la cómodas sillas en la tienda de grano para apoyar un pub más tradicional, enseguida nos dimos cuenta de nuestro error. Me gusta, pero viendo una avalancha de rugby con el sonido de la banda sonora de baile sucio sólo mata para mí. Si no quieres que los clientes vengan y ver rugby, no lo demuestran. Si desea que 'gente' escuchar música, eso está bien también. Si quieres tanto sin embargo, creo que a través de cómo hacerlo correctamente. Buena cerveza, miserable, horrible experiencia, servicio no regresaré. #busypubssurvive.

Fui aquí anoche y el pub es un pintoresco lugar muy bonito en Ockham. Estaba muy tranquilo por la noche del sábado, pero me imagino que Ockham no es exactamente una ciudad de fiesta. Sofás son preciosas y muy cómodas. A veces también hay música en vivo. También hay lugares para sentarse afuera en el verano.

Organizamos un 60 cumpleaños en su sala de reuniones. El lugar estaba bien, pero el pub era una vergüenza. No había lime. No hay hielo smirmov j20 de hecho me sorprendió no se quedaron sin cerveza. refleja mal en este pub como el bar en sí era casi carente de los clientes. Se trata de un Distaba mucho de años pasados cuando este pub era uno de los mejores en oakham. Me da miedo no hay futuro para este pub a menos que algo drástico está hecho para todo el año.

I visited The Railway last night for the first time - to watch the Leicester v Liverpool match. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly, and I will return. Excellent bar staff and Pinot Grigio.

No tuvimos un comienzo excelente cuando llegamos, ya que el pub había acabado de cervezas, simplemente! Esto era lamentable porque llevábamos una cierta distancia para ver una banda que era más adelante y queríamos algo de comida.la dejamos y nos fuimos por la carretera a otro pub, volver más tarde. Esta vez opté por la botella pasada de portero en la nevera. El personal buscó más, pero no sirvió para nada. El encargado nos salvó el día salir a comprar algunas botellas adecuadas de cerveza!Claramente un par de pequeños problemas, pero cualquier pub que se pone música, se esfuerza mucho y tiene un buen personal merece hacer bien. Buena suerte. la estación de tren.

A most obliging pub a little tucked away but worth seeking out. If you are a rugby fan or any sports fan here is somewhere that will be showing the game you want to see. And friendly locals too

Excellent food, excellent service, freshly cooked food at affordable prices. If you are visiting Rutland it is a great venue for lunch.

Every time we visit Oakham, it's a tradition to visit the The Railway hosted by Trevor. Good food at reasonable prices and great conversation. Shame he is considering retiring. The mixed grill or the sirloin steaks are recommended. See you there.

I have been to Trevor and Brenda's pub a number of times, and have always been pleased with the quality of the food. Their steaks are first class, but they also serve a variety other dishes. Just 1 minute from Oakham railway station.
