We went to this Pub/Restaurant to celebrate my Dad's Grandpa's Birthday. We ordered our food whilst having a drink in which when being served over the drinks the person who served us had to keep going back and asking someone on each drink we asked about. Then came to ordering our food in which it was for Starters Garlic Mushrooms x 3 and Chicken Bites x 1 which were all fine when served but when eaten the Garlic Mushrooms were full of Grease. The same thing happened as before with the drinks in asking someone. Then came to taking the orders for dinner in which the person serving had to go and ask someone for each thing in which it was Sweet and Sour Chicken with Noodles, Mixed Grill with Chips, Steak and Chips x 2 (in which we were told that the Steak was definitely Sirloin). Our food arrived and instead of it being Sweet and Sour Chicken with Noodles it came as Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice, The Mixed Grill came as anything put on the plate to make out it was a Mixed Grill, The Steak and Chips came and the Steak was definitely not Sirloin but a Sandwich Steak with Chips and then anything added to the plate to make up for the Non Sirloin Steak. We had one glass of Red Wine (in which there was plenty of choice to choose from) but when it came to one glass of Rosie Wine (they had only one choice which was Zinfendale). The whole time we were eating in the Restaurant bit no other people came into eat and it was Saturday Evening (food only served between 5 and 8). After finishing our food and going to pay it was decided that something should be said about the service and standard of food in which the Chef from the Kitchen was immediately got and denied all the complaints about our dinners being incorrect and when asked about not paying the full price at the end he knocked only £5 off the Final Bill. It is no wonder they had an empty Restaurant and will continue to do so with all the staff attitudes like they are and no knowledge of the food and drinks they are selling.

Avoid - booked a table for 4 - turned up to be told no bookings and not doing food - spoilt our night - been dropped off in taxi - had to pay for another one to find food elsewhere 😡. Sent message this morning (has been looked at) no response. London Inn picked up our business instead …

Looking at the reviews I’m staggered to see how some are mentioning good food. It’s below average at best. The building is rough looking, garden and car park also rough looking. Dumped motor bike in the seating area next to a black car that looks like it’s been there for a while given the flat tyres, and the atmosphere is spoiled by a load of young lads playing loud music and what smells like dope being smoked most of Saturday afternoon. Not suitable for a nice village like Ryhall. It’s a shame the new landlord seems to be failing as well like the previous x3 in such a short time. Nothing has changed, it’s still rough, poor quality food and just a drinking hole for young lads. It’s a BIG shame somebody with experience can’t make this work as the location is great. Just needs some love, passion and somebody with experience.

The food was so good tonight, that we all had to sample each other's meals ! The beef Madras was really tasty and the beef was cooked to perfection, the chicken noodles were amazing the pako bread crumb chicken breast was delicious and the home baked sour dough pizzas were delicious! The homemade steak pie was also awesome. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, the childrens menue was good. The restaurant was modern and had a good atmosphere and the meal itself was good value and brilliant quality 5 stars best meal with have had out in ages.

Generally the staff were pleasant and helped with grandchildren's choices for meal. Disappointed that the carvery not now available. 2 adults chose the roast butter chicken. (Thought butter chicken was an Indian dish!!). Came as a white breast of chicken, Didn't have any colour to it at all. Didn't have a look of 'roasted'. The beef roast looked and tasted good. All the veg were just put on plate and gravy poured over. NOT how I like my meal served. ALL the veg was sloppy and overcooked. We were there for 12.15 meal, so the veg should still have been fresh and crunchy. One portion of roast potatoes on a plate looked ok but were cold inside. The waitress brought some more hot ones out and there was no fuss made. None of us had sage and onion stuffing - so we don't know what happened to that! The yorkshire puds were cool and flabby. Buy 'Aunt Bessies' - they're great every time! The gluten free adult was well catered for. The desserts were ok. All in all not a brilliant meal but will try a midweek meal another time. The ladies loos were a disgrace, One door was very hard to close and the lock didn't work. There was loo paper and other bits of paper on the floor, the reed diffuser was empty with its label peeling off, the loo rolls, full and empty, spread over the shelf - no holder. The WORST thing was the ladies personal hygeine bin had the lid stuck part open as it was obviously full. Revolting. The floors in both the loos and the washing area had lots of mud on them. The sink and taps weren't clean and there was no hot water to wash hands. All in all a very distressing situation. I didn't investigate the mens but my grandsons said they weren't "too nice". There you have it. I am moving into the village soon and was looking forward to a lovely pub to use and bring friends and family to. I will try again in a few weeks and hope things have improved.

The pub is in a lovely village and the setting is beautiful. We went to an event where there were two bands playing so it was packed! We ordered 5 slices of pizza which was £2.50 a slice! 2 were reasonable, 1 was really small! One came 20 mins after the rest. They ran out of chips at 8.00 pm!! We had an unfortunate and embarrassing experience walking into the venue where one of the band(who I believe is the owner of the pub, but I could be wrong)insulted me and the way I was dressed! Not a good evening out!

Friendly staff and nice surroundings but… most of the menu was unavailable, this is Saturday evening and I had booked a table! So I ordered fish and chips which were ok, edible but overcooked. My sister ordered Sweet potato and lentil ragu lasagne with vegan béchamel sauce, what she actually got was a plate of spiral pasta with a dollop of lentil ragu in the middle, no sauce, no sweet potato and no lasagne. She ordered a salad with it which would have been ok but was covered in salt. This was so bad it was almost funny! and had to be the worst bar meal we have ever seen! She was given a reduction in the price after a garbled obviously untrue explanation from the “chef”. Obviously we will not be returning.

Today we visited, and had an amazing Sunday lunch, every single bit was cooked to perfection, really tasty, the Meat, not over cooked, we were later on in the day eaters, usually everything is overdone, but absolutely not the case today. Leigh Sharp is the New Chef, and has started as he means to go on, everything is locally sourced, and Seasonal. I’m a lover of Vegetarian Cuisine and he’s quite passionate about bringing some greate veggie recipes. As well as meat ones. A really great added bonus is it’s a totally Wheelchair friendly and accessible Pub/Restaurant. 👩🦼👩🦽 The Owner Andy, is working really hard to bring something for everyone, live Music (only till 10.30),comedy nights and Jazz Evenings in the New, Bill’s Bar ( Refurbished) Every thing is being worked on, but it does all take time, so in a time when you can be anything you want to be, BE KIND ❤️

Called here today with some of our grandchildren and friends for Sunday dinner. First impressions good clean and tidy staff members happy to see us not to busy drinks not to expensive. Asked if they do a carvery batman said no but we do set plated Sunday lunch. They gave us a set menu roast Beef or Pork at £18 with roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips and gravy. Chicken £17 with roast potatoes, carrots, and parsnips with gravy. You have the choice of extra potatoes at £2 cauliflower cheese at £3 and green vegetables at £2 per person. I am not sure but this was going to work out very expensive not for getting all the drinks. I went to the bar and said that the price was too expensive so said goodbye.

Cheap quality food and poor service. Expected something much better but very disappointed. Super loud music played with little respect for those in the garden or local residents wanting to enjoy a quiet drink. Poor form for a so called local pub. The pub has closed multiple times due to lack of experience I’m told and it seems to be going the same way. Shame for the locals who talk of a desire for a great pub. Lots of building rubble and old kegs laying about and what seemed like abandoned cars. Painted samples on the front of the building and just a lack of care or passion here. Save the loud music for the towns and step up your game.

Guys - please up your game! I am posting this to help - honestly! We want village pubs to thrive. Visited the village today and popped in for lunch. Completely unprepared for customers. Pub was cold. Barperson didn't know what sandwiches were on and took an eternity to find out. Waited a long time in an empty pub and then the Cheeseburger arrived and it was really poor - tasteless burger smothered in processed unpleasant cheese. To be fair, my baguette was ok. Chips were not really describable - other than greasy. No Sauvignon - you told us that you'd had 2 events at the weekend and were out of it and were at the cash n carry today to get more!!! Come on guys, it's Tuesday! We're very unlikely to visit you again and can't see you surviving unless you get your act together. We didn't complain at the time as we were in a rush and needed to be on pour way. Jon

Quite possibly the worst dining experience we have ever endured. Visited this pub for a previously booked sunday lunch (2pm). We were rushed through the dining room and were offered the final dregs of the carvery. No other food was offered or available apparently. When we approached the makeshift ban marie, the offerings were measly and looked far less than appetising. Scraps of beef and pork were offered. The landlord approached us and suggested i could have as much as i liked as the dog would be having the rest. It left me feeling that i, as paying customer - was considered just one tier above the pub hound. Overall the food was appalling. The vegetables were barely edible, yorkshire pudding and gravy the same. We declined on desert and retired to the bizarrely furnished lounge to finish our drink. While sitting , the only other feedback from any customer was when asked. " well the gravy was brown and the ice cream was cold." Pretty much summed it up. Please avoid. If you choose to risk it, it will be the worst £9.50 you ever spend.

This place is one of the best pubs I've been in for a long while, it's so oldy worldly and has a lot of character when you walk in and the staff were very kind and helpful. The food selection was absolutely fantastic! The portions of food for the price you get is an absolute bargain! I had the rack of ribs (in the picture) and it was the most tender, mouthwatering, sweet and soothing rack of ribs I have ever had 🤤, the BBQ sauce just tops it off and I'd want a whole bucket full 😂. Then the main course came, I had the Hawaiian styled burger, with the onion rings being perfectly cooked, the varied chips in sizes, colour and shape, from thick to slim 🤩🤤. This was absolutely filling and didn't even have enough space for dessert, I was told that the portions I had was only a small compared to what it used to be, I can't even imagine how big it would of been😱🤤. If you weren't going to have food but have drinks there's a pool table, darts and a football table upstairs, with very beautiful paintings of the inn and a field of purple flowers. The back garden was absolutely beautiful with the grass, the large variety of flowers and bushes and the overall scenery of the back fields and beautiful sky's. It was also a perfect place to view a rainbow too 🌈. Overall, I highly recommend the millstone Inn as it was one of the best pubs I've been to!

The Wheatsheaf in Oakham is a traditional pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Dan and his team always go the extra mile to make you feel at home. They have a great selection of real ales, including guest ales that change regularly, as well as a menu of fresh, home-cooked food. Whether you're stopping by for a pint or a bite to eat, The Wheatsheaf is a great choice.
