This was not what we were expecting having read the reviews. Very limited menu with average at best food. Service was willing but appeared to be in training and the bar staff didn't know what a Wine Spritzer was. Has the ownership changed recently?

We’ve had the pleasure of dining in the Raglan Arms on a few occasions and have to say their Sunday Roast is the best we’ve had anyway,,and believe me we ‘ve had a few over the years.. The presentation of the vegetables is eye catching to say the least and the roast beef is a melt in your mouth experience…The food along with the friendly and attentive staff combine to make it a 5 star dining experience.. We will be back again and again..Not to be missed.

We ate here twice in one month, not having visited it for ages and were very pleased. The chef is very accommodating especially when we were not happy with the one vegetarian option on the menu that evening, he offered several off menu alternatives. It is very good value for money and the wine list, though not that extensive, is remarkable value indeed. We will certainly visit again.

We met up here with cousins as a 1/2 way point and since our booking - for Sunday Lunch - we had been very much looking forward to eating here as we had heard excellent reports. Our cousins brought their young spaniel bitch, and that was no problem at all. Luckily she was on her best behaviour. Everything was just impeccable, from the booking of our table until we left to go home. We were given a very warm welcome from everyone on arrival and shown to our round table in a corner. I love round tables. Both the sirloin of beef and the blade of beef were absolutely divine, with enough perfectly cooked vegetables. Extra gravy was on hand should we have needed it. Good portions of meat. Just perfect. To drink we chose Chenin Blanc on arrival and Merlot with our food. The puddings were absolutely delicious, especially my Creme Brûlée with lavender shortbread! The staff is both professional and delightful, and afterwards the chef came over for a chat, nice touch that, and it was nice to be able to let him know how happy we all were. It's a beautiful old building, inside and out, with a good sized car park in the gorgeous little village of Llandenny. Can't wait to come again.

We dined at the restaurant as it was rated one of the ‘Pick of the Pubs’ in our AA ‘The Pub Guide’ and as always seems to be the case deservedly so, it was quiet as it was a Wednesday evening but there were still enough diners to create a nice atmosphere, the food and service was excellent, very good and varied menu and good value given the quality, my wife and I couldn’t fault a single part of our meals they even had a dessert that combined Crème Brûlée and Stollen two of my wife’s favourites which was a real bonus. We will definitely return to this restaurant when we’re in the area again.

This place is worth finding. Set in Llandenny, a lovely village near Raglan, it is an atmospheric and welcoming old building with a pretty conservatory and garden with it's own parking. On our arrival around opening, my guests and myself were greeted civilly enough, offered drinks and given menus to discuss. On one of those glorious early autumn afternoons we chatted, made our choices and enjoyed the beer garden. Most of us chose the 'blade of beef' as mains, with various starters, and it was outstandingly good albeit very small portions on a bed of parsnip mash. The chef came out at our request and talked us through the receipe..... cooking a shoulder of beef, difficult to find, believe me. Mainly good experience, but the single beer offering is the worst I've tasted, gross, and the proprietor pursued me around the premises to recover a free newspaper which I had said I would pass on to some friends who were looking to purchase a house in that area. Weird!

Saturday 24th August 2019 - Dinner for a family of 4. We've been here a few times and have always had excellent meals. Unfortunately on this visit 2 mains of ribeye steak, which were ordered "rare", turned out to be "medium" cooked. Maybe we shouldn't complain, but when you are paying £25 it should be right. Maybe we should have sent them back, but then my wife's main (fish) was also overcooked, and we really didn't want the "scene" of returning 3 main dishes on what was supposed to be a special family night out. My son's duck was delicious. Starters and puds good. Service excellent by friendly helpful staff. Yes we will try it again as this is the only time it's dipped for us.

Great Sunday lunch menu, with pork, lamb, two different cuts of beef and gnocchi. I had the rib of beef , cooked pink. It came with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and a great selection of vegetables. The beef was tender and tasty, as was the Yorkshire pudding and the gravy was delicious. My husband had the lamb shank, which came with same accompaniments. It was tender and delicious, both excellent, as were the starters and desserts. We shared a half bottle of very good Fleurie. Why only 4 stars......well the team were very, very short staffed, the waitress said there was usually 4 of them, but there was only her. It did impact on service, I asked for extra gravy, which I didn't get and there was a bit of a wait between courses. Don't let this put you off, I'm sure it was a Bank Holiday weekend blip. Excellent value and we'll be back.

The Raglan Arms, with a Michelin recommendation and a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, plus others, is outside the town of Raglan, where Raglan Castle is located (also worth the visit if you're in Cardiff or Wales). Some of the menu offerings were lamb, pork belly, a cauliflower steak, a hamburger (or it looked like one). I had the Roasted Artichoke steak with a chimichurri sauce accompanied by thrice cooked potato chips. Yummilicious!!!! I've never had better chips. Two of us had them and as we offered a taste to friends they agreed that the outer crispiness with the soft inside was super. We had wine with dinner, and dessert. All delicious. I went with a group of 11, and we all fabulous food and a great time. Not a single complaint. The server, an older lady, was our only server, and she did it courteously and efficiently. The restaurant itself is in an old stone building but inside it's very modern, light, and clean. Although it may be a little out of the way, I strongly recommend it if you're in the vicinity.

Eight friends booked a meal at The Raglan Arms. We just had one course each. One of our party is vegan, but this wasn’t a problem. Polite service but quite a wait for our food- over 30 minutes. We were enjoying conversation so this didn’t matter. The food was good but I would have liked more vegetables to be served with the meal. I ordered a side of seasonal veg, which was a good portion. Quite expensive, a 10% service charge for parties of 8 or more.

We were 17 ladies who had been on a lovely hen weekend in a neighbouring property. This was our farewell Sunday lunch. Among the party were three coeliacs and a vegan with a very severe nut allergy. My coeliac friends are used to having to ‘go without’ at meals. Not here. Every dish was made with gluten free alternatives and the care given to our nut-allergic friend was the best I’ve ever seen and resulted in her having a very relaxed meal out. The service was first class and last, but not least, the food was absolutely amazing. I had borscht, ( dud they know about my beetroot obsession?) 8 hour beef daube ( melted in the mouth) and creme brûlée ( perfect and with delightful fruit art) but I’d have been happy if they’d brought me any of the food my friends had. I have visited the Raglan Arms twice in recent times and on each occasion the food was delicious. On the first occasion my dining companion had the laverbread starter and I had the delicious prawn, lobster tail and roasted garlic risotto as a starter. We both thoroughly enjoyed the two dishes. The serving portions were just right for a midweek lunch. We finished with desserts. I had a trio of the homemade ice cream, which I actually repeated on the second visit. It is simply delicious with many flavours to choose from. My companion had the intriguing dessert "Whatever Comes", with little sample desserts being served on a wooden board. What an ingenious idea. Hats off to the chef who bakes the bread and churns his own butter and makes the homemade ice cream. The second visit was Sunday lunch, with both myself and my companion ordering the trio of seafood and new potatoes. I was genuinely surprised that this was served with lovely vegetables which were included in the cost of the meal. This is rare with restaurants these days offering sides of vegetables or salads as an additional cost. We were there on a very busy Sunday but the staff were attentive and friendly. I can highly recommend the Raglan Arms.

Its been a long time since i have eaten food that tasted that good it was all cooked to perfection. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back again.

We sat outside as the weather was amazing (outdoor area is lovely in the summer). We had the sharing fish platter and roast ham salad to start which were both delicious. We then had one fish and chips and 3 of the daily specials- burger, faggots and South African curry. All of which were fantastic, well done to the chef!

SUPBERB! Amazing food, service and hospitality. Very friendly waiter greeted us on arrival. Owner came and asked us if everything ok. Even the head chef popped out of kitchen and asked if everything ok. Amazing slow cook roast beef. For me the best Sunday lunch, having visited similar establishments around the Monmouthshire area

We brought my nan here for a belated lunch on Saturday. We had the bread and olive oil to start between us and the bread was gorgeous. For main I had a Caesar salad which was really nice. My partner had the burger and chips and said it was amazing and my nan had the fish cakes. I tried half a fish cake and it was really good. They both had a dessert too but they weren’t as good as hoped after the mains. Pleasant staff.

Hadnt been to the Raglan Arms for years and wasn't even sure it was still open, so popped along with my partner on a Thursday night and was pleased to see it open. Very impressed with the layout and decor inside and warm welcome from management and staff and excellent service during our stay. But it was the food that was what was truly impressive. The starter of cream of cauliflower soup was as tasty as iv ever had and my girlfriends goat cheese tart was also delicious. We both had steak for main with peppercorn sauce and chips which was cooked to perfection and very tender. Really great experience and looking forward to returning soon!

Fantastic tea at the Raglan Arm. Pots of tea with wonderful sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and profiteroles with chocolate sauce, strawberry boats. All delicious and loads of it! Well presented and served in the garden but laid indoors should it have been wet.

Our party of 12 had a really enjoyable afternoon tea in the pub garden. Copious quantities of freshly made sandwiches, scones, squidgy brownies and wonderfully indulgent home made eclairs with chocolate sauce. Our only suggestion - a bigger tea pot next time please!

A party of us had afternoon tea on the terrace and one can only say it was superb. Not only was the weather great but the food could not have been beaten for both quality and quantity. Well done !! M

We arrived on a wet Thursday evening having booked to find the Raglan rather quiet. It’s a pub, but a restaurant really. Not really a place to pop in for a pint, which is perhaps a problem. But we soon livened it up, helped by the good, well kept local ale and genuinely jaw droppingly good food. My tender lamb was best I’d had in years, my friend’s beef was as good as his legendary ‘best ever meal’ in France 20 years ago. The kids loved their fish and chips and duck with gorgeous sweet and sour red cabbage (we ordered two more portions as sides!). Incredible home made chocolate sorbet and ice cream. We had to meet the chef, he is a star. This place should be busier, we urge you to check out the Raglan.

My boyfriend and I along with our Jack Russell were visiting the area from Oxford. We dined here on the Saturday evening of the bank holiday weekend. All of the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. The quality of the food was absolutely fabulous, the raspberry and white chocoate mousse was sublime.

Having lived in Usk for 4 years and recently moved to Raglan we wanted to try a new restaurant. Having read the reviews on trip advisor we visited the Raglan Arms Thursday 19th April. We received the best of welcomes and sat outside enjoying a sunny evening whilst we perused the menu. We ordered starters of prawn and melon salad with salt and pepper squid. What a delight, quality and presentation was amazing. We were then seated inside in a delightful dinning area for our main course of loin of cod and confit of guinea fowl. These dishes surpassed our expectations and certainly tickled our taste buds. For dessert we chose the champagne rhubarb jelly, oh my gosh what a joy. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant with food of such exceptional quality on a par with Michelin starred localities. In fact my husband and I rate the quality of the food much higher than local famous sites which shall remain nameless. Please visit if you are in the area to experience a thoroughly dining delight. Gold star for the chef and Judith who made us so very welcome. We felt very spoiled with the attention to detail on every level. 5 star service and food for 3 star cost.

We hadn't been to The Raglan Arms for many years and hearing good reports decided to try. Very welcoming when I booked a table in the morning after looking at what was on offer on the excellent website. We received a friendly welcome from the landlady who made us comfortable in the snug whilst we looked at the menus. There was no draught ale available ( I was told it was because it was winter !!! ) however there were bottles of beer available. We were very disappointed with the choice on the menu. Starters were good but to only have fillet or ribeye steak as meat main courses was very poor. The website spoke of a special's board and that the chef was famous for his pies. none were available, we were told this was because of the recent snow and staff shortages. The food we had was excellent and the chef was very helpful with my wife's choice of main course. Desserts were good especially the raspberry posset. Though the meal was not cheap I felt it was reasonably good value though I felt there was no need to charge for the extra bread that we asked for. The service provided by the landlady was very attentive. We would visit again but would make sure there was more choice before visiting again.

Took my sales team here for lunch, 10 of us in total. The food is incredible and you certainly won’t go hungry. Everyone at the pub is friendly and can’t do enough for you. Feels like a good old fashioned boozer set in an amazing position on the Wye. Everyone only had good things to say about the place. Steak is a specialty here. No hesitation in recommending the Rose and Crown. Thanks all who looked after us that day.

Lovely Irish landlady was extremely accommodating to me & my two boys.. Service was how service used to be before the big pub chains took over everything… Food was brilliant.. Had to have the bread pudding as haven’t had it since I was a kid.. took me right back! Definitely recommend and will return 👌🏼
