We visited here for a family 80th party. We had the marquee next to the play area which was perfect for the children. The food, service and venue were fantastic and made the birthday so special. Thanks team. Would recommend this to anybody 😊

The building is fine and the tables are well spaced. Staff are welcoming and helpful. We both had the fish curry, it was disappointing. The fish content was generous but the balance was not quite right, far too much salmon and very little white fish. It lacked flavour and it was difficult to discern that it was actually a curry.

Interesting to read previous reviews - many 5 star ones but a couple that refelct more our experience. The starters of whitebait and baked Camembert were very tasty tho not really reliant on chef skills. 3 of our party had the Thai fish curry- amazingly bad! Not a hint of Thai flavours and the fish was cooked to death, sucked of all taste. Diffilcult to discern what was mushy mango from mushy fish, to be honest. Even adding salt and pepper made no difference- it was cooked beyond redemption sadly. The fried eggs of one of our party looked and tasted of being torured far too long under a heat lamp. The pork with pomegranite molasses was the one dish that showed any finesse. None of the staff asked us if eveything was ok and overall body language and lack of eye contact seemed to indicate no opportunity to offer any opinion. The garden setting was lovely on a hot summer day: appreciate it was a long garden but we, the customers, were the ones who went back and forth to the indoors to ask for more drinks, cutlery etc. The young waitress who served us with our food was delightful , I must add -smiley and fun. Diffilcult to find words for any of the other staff. Appreciate the pub had had a very busy weekend with a wedding but that was no excuse for our lack lustre experience. We have eaten here before and been very happy with everything but they say the last visit you go somewhere is the memory you take away. with you?!

We had high hopes after reading the reviews. We had been on a tour of Longford castle and I gather the state owns this pub. The service was poor, we ere told where our table was and that a menu would be brought to us. After ten minutes my partner went to the bar and the young woman was bottling up. She'd clearly forgotten we were there. it was a sunny Sunday and they had probably been busy so not a big deal really. However what was a big deal was the terrible food. I did't think anyone could get fish and chips as badly wrong as this but the fish was awful, wet and it fell to pieces when the oily batter was cut. the chips were ok but the garden peas were poor quality, hard and tasteless. My partners belly pork was similarly disappointing, dry and swimming in gravy. He says the veg were well cooked but he left the Cauliflower cheese which came in a separate pot. I tasted it and can only describe it as disgusting. Soggy cauliflower and a tasteless cheese sauce. We didn't complain but paid and left bemoaning the fact that we could have driven home and eaten well locally.

My family and I have been here a few times for lunch and it’s the cutest little pub with a beautiful outside area and park. The food is brilliant and never disappoints but the outstanding service here is what keeps bringing us back! Fantastic Father’s Day lunch. It was the best roast we’ve had in a long time, possibly ever. Staff were all friendly, the location is great & prices are fair. They were very accommodating of our family, 2 adults, a baby in a pram & a toddler needing a high chair & kids meal. We’d not been for years - it was great then too - but will definitely try and get back more often. 10/10.

I had heard good things about this pub so was looking forward to trying it, I am pleased to say it met and possibly exceeded my expectations. A lovely village pub with a great atmosphere, but the best bit is the food. The menu is extensive, far better than the average New Forest pub and the food was fresh and well presented. An absolute must if you are in the area.

First visit for many years. A complete transformation since our last visit. Staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly. Great to see the lovely Lauren again after quite a few years. We all remembered each other from a previous restaurant, where she always looked after us so well. A great asset to any team. We had a lovely lunch, my friend had Cornish sole from the specials menu, hubby had scampi and chips and couldn’t finish it, l had moules et frites. The moules were hot, plump and delicious. Thatchers Gold on tap - what more could you want. We will be definitely be back

We had a big family lunch at The Radnor on Friday 23rd Feb. As the numbers were large, we had to pre-order our food. However, we were able to ring on the Monday before and find out the specials and then the food order had to be in by the Weds. I sent the order by email and got a response back saying they had received it. We were put in the private room area just off the bar which was brilliant. Food and service were exceptional. The young lady serving us also took some family photos. My parents used to use this pub when they were dating and my Dad played football for the pub with his brother many years ago (now 81)! Thanks for looking after us so well.

We came here with friends for dinner. There wasn't really much on the menu that I fancied. Mainly ' pub grub' were the offerings. I picked the seafood risotto from the blackboard as a good risotto is a wonderful thing. This, however, was NOT a risotto. They used ordinary long grain rice instead of proper arborio risotto rice and, as a consequence it was claggy and mushy. You could stand the fork upright in it. There was no creaminess to it, just a fishy taste. The whole thing was colourless. I didn't complain at the time as I didn't want to embarrass our friends. If you cannot make a proper risotto don't put it on the menu.

Visited the Radnor arms for our friends Birthday at lunch time on 17/11/23 ,When we arrived at 1.15 the car park was nearly full but managed to find the last free spot...On entering the arms it was nearly full so we were so pleased we had booked a table The friendly lady behind the bar told us where our table was & said would be over to take our drinks order first ......We sat down & looked at the menus ,some lovely dishes were on there ...After our drinks were ordered the staff gave us plenty of time not rushed to order our food ..Three of us had the steak & kidney pie & one had Venison stew .....Considering how busy they were ,the food arrived very quickly & was piping hot ...Well the size of the pie was like half a house brick ,full of steak& kidneys absolutely delicious such great portions of everything ...The venison too was first class ...All four of us had first class meals .....After we had let our first course go down we all shared lemon meringue pie&apple & blackcurrent crumble with ice cream &cream .....overhaul this was one of the best pub meals i have had for ages with friendly & first class service nothing too much trouble for the staff ...I now see why the car park was full & hardly a table to be had ...We will definitely be going again ...if you are thinking of trying the Radnor arms i strongly advise to book well in advance .

Had a truly excellent Sunday lunch today, plentiful and excellent quality. However, we sat in a relatively small area with four tables and five dogs. At one stage our puppy was set upon by one of the dogs and barked loudly for around a minute before calming down. Its owner apologised. But a member of staff asked us to put our dog in the car. We were horrified and refused because our dog had been otherwise perfectly well behaved and was impeccably behaved after the aggressive dog departed. A lesson in jumping to conclusions and upsetting three brand new customers!

Looks beautiful from the outside (plenty of parking space too), and very cosy/quaint inside. Clean and delightful place. We were greeted as we entered, felt very welcome, as if we were regulars (this was our first visit, definitely not our last). We were given a choice of seats, great, not forced near the beautiful open fire or music too. We were asked for our drinks order just a minute after being seated, no hanging around here . The menu had lots we liked on, tricky to choose. Then the specials board was pointed out to us, arrrr! Decisions decisions lol. We choose the mushroom soup and prawns and crayfish in lemon for starters. The mushroom soup was thick and flavourful, with two doorstep lumps of yummy bread. The prawn and crayfish starter was delicious, great attention to detail, pips removed from the lemon, prawns out of the shells and perfectly deveined, nice doorstop bread too. Personally I think a couple of finely chopped garlic cloves in the sauce would have made it perfect, as it was 8/10, so still great. Nice pea shoots on both starters, pretty and yummy as well. Main course was chicken broth and hunters chicken. Broth was very tasty, chicken thighs very flavoursome. Hunters chicken was unusual, mushroom (which I choose) or peppercorn sauce to pick from. Hunters chicken is usually bbq sauce. Chicken was butterflied, chips were awesome, bacon was perfect, not fatty at all, way too much salad though, 20% of it would be enough, nicely dressed. Portions here are very big, definitely value for money. I hope they do a small portions option, as next time I would have a starter and smaller main course. We had a check back during our starter, shame there wasn’t one during our main course as we both would have liked another drink. All in all it was a great visit, we really enjoyed it, stopped off here on our way home from a little break. We discovered it’s 40 minutes away from home, so likely we’re going to make a special trip to eat here again.

There are sheltered and open areas, pleasant views, and it's very well organised for the era of Covid.Fish stew and chicken wrapped in parma ham in a cheese and pesto sauce were both flavoursome and filling. Our dishes came from a varied menu that ranges from sandwiches through to full meals. Lots of tempting choices that will assure our return.Thank you for nice service too. It was a memorable first meal out after the latest lockdown.

After a quick drive to East Dorset really could not be bothered to cook so headed to ‘The Rad’For a lovely meal, after telling myself I was never going to have chips at a pub again as trying to be healthy I had the best sweet potato fries have ever had, never disappointed, left rather full ‘as usual’

After multiple people telling me how good the Radnor Arms is, my partner and I decided to go for a Sunday Roast. It was perfect for a first 'post lockdown' meal. The pub is well layed out and the staff were adhearing to all government guidelines. The staff were attentive to our needs and the food was absolute sublime (we had roast Turkey and roast Lamb with Syrup sponge and Cheesecake). The pub was lovely and warm thanks to the log fire and the atmosphere was really great. Easy to find and plenty of parking, will 100% be returning and recommending to our friends.

I have twice visited the Radnor Arms in recent weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the meals, beer - and the dairy milk 'fuel station' immediately outside. The home made steak and ale pie was washed down with a pint of New Forest ale ... perfect for a snooze upon arriving home. Service excellent. Highly recommended.

We had a booking for The Goat in Downton. We arrived at The Goat to be told that they were shut due to a problem in the kitchen. The manager didn’t move from his seat as we entered, barely looked at us and his bluntness with apparent lack of interest was incredibly rude. BUT what a happy turn of events that we ended up at The Radnor Arms!! I’d wanted to try The Radnor Arms for a while so we were delighted that they had a table for us at short notice. We had a DELICIOUS meal. The risotto packed full of clams, mussels, prawns and topped with langoustine was incredible. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals with the monk fish being another favourite. Friendly, easygoing staff. Such a lovely country pub. The food was far superior and better value than we’ve had previously at our original choice of venue. So happy to have found such a little gem of a place and we can’t wait to return .. with the added bonus of grabbing a pint of milk, some local honey and a pumpkin from the Nunton Dairy Farm vending machine outside! We all had such a great meal. Thank you!

Lunch with a small group of friends. Excellent portions, hot, fresh food and the best proper chips I've had in ages! Everyone enjoyed their food and there was a good selection of foods for everyone. Polite and friendly table service, with covid precautions in place. Too full for dessert, but we'll be back!

A lunch out at one of our favourite pubs, my first since isolating since March. My initial nervousness at the situation soon disappeared as the Radnor has made a very safe environment while still maintaining their lovely atmosphere. A big than you to the lovely staff for making us feel welcome. Food was delicious too!

Based on the reviews, we decided to give it a try. The service was pretty good, but the food was sadly lacking. The chicken seem to have been pre-cooked beforehand, with soggy cheese and bacon added on top. My husband was not overwhelmed wih his burger either. if you looking for a social gathering and not fussed about the quality of food, there is lovely beer garden, and it is a charming building. We visited a pub near Worcester recently, and the food there was excellent, yet the pricing was similar was similar to this establishment. We will not be returning.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.

A lovely pub which by all accounts is popular with the locals especially on curry nights. Service with a smile and had a lovely chat with chef. We opted for the full Sunday lunch and I have to say, it was probably THE best Sunday lunch I have ever eaten out. The gravy was absolutely delicious, vegetables cooked perfectly and the beef was pink with no fat in sight, every bit edible. Would recommend and we would probably make a special trip just to come back for the superb Sunday lunch.

A chance visit following the brown signs from the motorway. Very welcome agreement from the chef to prepare our food as we arrived at exactly three o’clock. Would highly recommended the spiced pork chop. Beautifully cooked and presented. Thank you.
