After a bad experience here 14 years ago we had never been back, however, I had seen many reviews on Facebook and this always came up as a great place for Sunday dinner and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is lovely and cosy and the food really good. If i did have a criticism it is the vegetarian Sunday roast which is a 3 cheese , cheesecake, as a vege I would have preferred a good nut roast and all the Sunday roast trimmings but I found other options on the menu instead, as its walking distance I will definitely be back .

We like places that are tucked away and this certainly is but not remote. Some lovely walks behind the church amongst fields. Back to the pub new owners since our last visit a while back and a great lunch with great service. Also has a nice beer garden and a snugbar for doggie guests.

This is the BEST pub I’ve ever been to and I’ve grown very fond of it. At a time in my life that has been the hardest few years my friend introduced me to this gem and it has been an idyllic escapism and almost therapeutic in atmosphere. The staff are infallible, so friendly and go above and beyond. I have a very tight budget and this is the only luxury I will allow myself whenever possible now. The decor is gorgeous, the food is exceptional, the choice of drinks are carefully considered and great quality. I was very very fortunate to also win the monthly ‘Tomsbola’ with a free 2 course meal and wine for myself and my friend which we’ve just enjoyed enormously. Thank you so much Queens Oak for your impeccable hospitality.

This is a lovely location but I was very surprised to pay £9.20 for a 175ml glass of standard Sauvignon Blanc. We decided to eat outside and were told there was no table service there so we would have to order at the bar, which we duly did - two fish and chips at £18.95 each. They were perfectly fine, but nothing special. When I went to pay, I wasn't given a bill to look at, just the card machine so I tapped - I didn't look at the price. She then asked if I wanted a receipt and I said no - I never normally need one and I knew it was around £37 for the lunch. When I looked at my bank in the evening I had been charged £41.69. Yes, it is standard practice now in many places to add a service charge to the bill - but the bill is normally presented in that case. I have never been charged for service when I have had to go and order at the bar, and specifically told there was no table service. This should have been brought to our attention and honestly, I feel that's very underhand behaviour for a pub. I cannot see returning on that basis. I was given no opportunity to query the service charge whatsoever - service charge without table service - laughable.

Being gluten intolerant, having tasty food in a restaurant, that I would really like to eat, is always a challenge. No such problems at the Queens Oak!! Last night I had the best meal I have had in months: The squid and prawns were delicious; the Thai crispy beef had lots of succulent prime beef beautifully seasoned; and the orange & chocolate tart was wonderfully complemented with a salted caramel sauce. If you have never been or have not been recently, The Queens Oak is well worth a visit.

We had a wonderful family meal for Mothering Sunday in their ‘snug’ which felt lovely and cosy and very private as we were a table of 10. We pre ordered and Tom had everything organised making it very easy. We didn’t feel rushed and they kept checking when we were ready for our next course which was a nice touch so we got a break in between. Especially nice that they brought out the kids roast early as our niece was getting hungry whilst we ate starters - thanks for avoiding any hangry toddler tantrum! Food was exceptional - everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. My roast beef was amazing! I’d also really recommend the Belgium waffle for dessert. Thanks again to the queens oak for a lovely mean and we look forward to coming back again soon !

We visited for a valentines meal having previously been to the Queen's Oak. There were items on the menu unavailable, which was a shame as due to allergies it left me quite limited. The calves live whist tasting nice was quite sinewy, my husbands food was lovely (apparently) :) What ruined the evening for us both was hearing the older waitress moaning about me when we left. This was extremely unprofessional and rude. £85 spent (one starter 2 mains and 2 glasses of wine) to be insulted is not acceptable. Suffice to say we won't bother returning and wouldn't recommend to friends.

A great pub with good food at reasonable prices (for current food costs anyway!) and a massive kid- and dog-friendly garden. For a weekday lunchtime it was very quiet, presumably due to its quiet village location - they really deserve more custom. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and didn't seem at all fazed by a couple of sweaty walkers wandering in! The food was very good quality, with filling portion sizes. I'd highlight, of all things, the fat fries that were exceptional (like triple-cooked chips). The only negative IMO was leaving the skin on the battered fish, which personally I don't like since it doesn't crisp up and stays somewhat slimy. Overall though, a really nice pub.

First time in the area (for leisure that is), staying at local touring park (California Touring Park). Unfortunately it was pouring down with rain on our walk to the pub, and to make matters worse, we didn’t realise there was a cross country short-cut off ‘Nine Mile Ride’! So, 2 mile walk on the way there in the rain, 1/2 mile return trip and it had stopped raining. Anyway, about the pub….. superb! A lovely pub divided into two sections - a smaller dining area/snug, and a larger dining area/main bar. We ate in the smaller snug area. Excellent food (Chicken Burger and Fish & Chips). Great hospitality, particularly from the landlady and the barmaid who served us initially. Good beer - Birra Moretti and crisp dry rose wine. Prices commensurate with today’s economy! Certainly not cheap, but more-like expected! If we have time, we will return tomorrow - before our trip home to Canterbury. Thank you.

Four of us ate here on a Friday evening , most of the food was good but mostly not good value for money , the £30 Ribeye steak is small and thin and not what was expected and the dirty fries very disappointing, the wine is very expensive at £24 a bottle for cheep plonk, the Sticky toffee pudding came out still frozen in the middle but they did bring another that they microwaved for a bit longer the second time and knocked it off the bill. The girls serving were very polite and friendly but they need to stick their heads around the corner more often as it was frustrating trying to get their attention and we had to get up and go to the bar twice to ask for drinks etc. 4 starters , four mains , 2 puddings and 2 bottle of wine £200 including the compulsory tip that I hate with a passion,Won’t be rushing back , lots of other good restaurants locally .

We don’t often get out to the Queens Oak, it’s a little too far out for regular visits, but we went there for lunch again today and, once again, it was well worth the trip. The staff are really great, very friendly, attentive and polite.Although this is, ostensibly, a village pub, the food is absolutely amazing - more on a par with a Fine Dining restaurant. They have a very varied menu; all, I think, reasonably priced and top-notch quality and flavours.I would love to get to the Queens Oak more often and I would highly recommend it to anyone in or passing through Finchampstead. My one (and it is only one!) comment is that they automatically add a 10% Service Charge. Whilst I appreciate that maybe some people don’t show their appreciation of great service, I’ve always found that I would normally have tipped the staff more. I would have gladly left a bigger tip than the automatic Service Charge today ‍♂️

Went for family birthday party. Excellent night out, with outstanding food throughout the evening. The baked Camembert was simple but wonderful for sharing. All of us had different but first class meals. Been here before for small eats in the garden but I think the Team excelled themselves. Highly recommended.

After we went for a long walk with our dog, we went to Tally Ho afterwards but it was packed like crazy. We then decided to go somewhere else and saw a sign for Queens Oak nearby. The parking space wasn't that too bad. A polite gentleman welcomes us and he showed us the menu from the blackboard. We sat down and ordered our lunch from our table. When the meal arrived, we couldn't believe the quality of their cooking and the meal was superb. It's probably the best pub in Finchampstead so far! We will come back again.

Had the ploughmans of scotch egg. Mostly leaves gherkins and celery in vinegar. Bought fish and chips on the way home! Won’t be returning. Trying to support local businesses and met with attitude :(

Service was excellent despite the garden being very busy in the wonderful sunshine - we never had to wait long for a charming member of staff to look after us, to eat we had caesar salads - they were nice, especially the dressing however if im being a bit picky ( which i think is justified given the prices charged) the chicken was a tad overdone/dry. Only real disappointment was the lack of a few drink options - a Brakespears country pub yet only one draught ale ?! and also bit surprised that the only seedlip on offer was the, i'm told least popular, spice variety and not the "grove" Overall really enjoyed our visit and will be back again soon.

We went to the Queen's Oak the day after the pubs re-opened for dining outside. It was our first meal out for a very long time and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and the outside service friendly and efficient. We can't wait to go back again!

We have just finished dining on yet another delicious takeaway meal from The Queens Oak. This time the fillet steak and chips. Last week it was the fish and chips. In these challenging times when we cannot go out to enjoy fabulous dining in our pubs and restaurants this is a great alternative. Quality wasn’t compromised, the service on arrival was sleek and as risk free as possible. We shall be back soon.

Not to be missed... wow, this was absolutely delicious! Tender, mouth watering tasty smoked whole chicken, served with dirty rice, coleslaw, potato salad. Fantastic meal, generous proportions and worth every penny. Excellent value, we all enjoyed this immensely! The chicken was piping hot when we unpacked it. Very well packed every item. Cant wait to see what future treats are available for collection. The food collection was well managed, maintaining everyones safety. A very big thank you under such challenging circumstances times.

We’d been to The Queen’s Oak a couple of times since the new owners moved in and it but hadn’t been since lockdown. So glad that we managed to go before the new lockdown as the food was outstanding. I had the venison and black pudding scotch egg which was perfectly cooked with a soft egg (how do you do that), followed by pork belly on a tasty bed of vegetables with well spiced sauce.Felt very full after that but managed to share the bread and butter pudding with my wife which was well worth the calories.I’d been a bit critical of desserts in the past but definitely improved. A friend we were with had apple crumble which he said was great.Service was good and tables well distanced but there was still a good atmosphere. Is this now the best food in Finchampstead area....I think so

Great breakfast today. Decided to skip the full welsh and opted for the avocado and poached eggs on sourdough. Perfectly poached. Had 2 lattes so on a bit of a coffee high at the moment. Waitress kindly gave me a small jug of hot milk to add to them. The rainbow cake looked fantastic, hope it’s still on the menu next week. Love this place.

Absolutely gutted that they have dropped the Thai food, this was exceptional, well presented, hot and delicious. Well i won't be sending anyone there again, what a shame, as I was always sending people there, because it was so good. Lino Len
