Lovely village pub. Stayed here while on a cycle trip from London. Highly recommend! Comfortable room, great food and very friendly and helpful staff. I had to leave my bike outside for a few hours and when I returned to it, I found that they had protected the seat from the rain with a plastic bag and cloth - without me even asking them to!

Regularly stay here whilst working in the area. The food is excellent, the staff are welcoming and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. I often stay in the big chain hotels in other areas but would much rather find another Bull Hotel wherever I find myself. Hard to beat, I will return.

Had a bit of trouble finding somewhere to park. Once inside, very cosy. Lovely log fire.. Staff were very good. Mum wasn't taken by the choice of starters, and didn't have one. I had the Pate which was perfect... Roast dinners were great. Nice to see an additional jug of gravy brought with the meals. Overall, highly recommend

Decided to try out for lunch today, having driven past so many times. Wow, what a lovely experience! The pub is an olde worlde establishment, but bright and spotlessly clean with a welcoming inglenook fireplace with a warm fire burning. Staff were well trained and attentive, and really among some of the best hospitality staff I have encountered for a long time. We ordered, and my (picky!) partner asked for some variations to her dish - absolutely no problem. We were subsequently told that her dish was cooked fresh, and we may have to wait for about 20 minutes, but this only helped to manage our expectations. Wine list was perfectly adequate, and we had a lovely chilled white Rioja (nice alternative to Chablis!). The food was excellent and honest, and I look forward to our next visit for Sunday lunch which I am assured is fabulous! Based on our experience today, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending!

This is a really traditional, olde worlde pub of small proportions, but with a big warm traditional welcome from the Landlady, Jayne! The Bull has a very homely and cosy atmosphere. The food is all properly home made and absolutely delicious. I had the smoked salmon pate, followed by chilli and lime chicken. Both were beautifully presented, arrived piping hot and were very tasty indeed. We felt very much at home here ... it was so relaxing. A great experience.

We came as a family of 6 for Sunday lunch as we had previously had a fantastic takeaway meal from here. There were signs up saying if you have an allergy or intolerance we are happy to help. Well our Waitress wasn’t helpful at all and seemed rushed so I ordered a bag of plain crisps as my starter! The food was good apart from the potatoes which were hard and yellow inside. The beef wasn’t great. We ordered two children’s meals and were astonished to find we were charged £14 per kids meal. 3 chicken goujons and some chips ! Unfortunately we will not be returning . It’s far too expensive for the quality of food.

We are currently working our way around local pubs trying out Sunday lunches. Great way to help local business and great excuse for a Sunday treat in these testing times. There are a number of good reviews for the Bulls roast and they are spot on! Plentiful, nice and fresh tasting. We had both pork and beef. Both very good. Lovely veg (including cauliflower cheese and red cabbage). Plenty of gravy. At £15 a throw I felt It was good value. We will certainly repeat the experience. Only drawback is that I now need to rest my eyelids for a short while.......

I have eaten here twice in the last 4 weeks and was impressed by the quality of the food on both visits. My first meal was whitebait followed by Whitby scampi and chips which were both very well cooked and generous helpings. My son had the Calamari followed by scampi and he was equally impressed. I went again yesterday and had the haddock and chips. Once again extremely well cooked in a tempura style batter using delicious fish and another generous helping. My friends had one fish and chips and one liver and bacon and they were very pleased with their food. Service on both occasions was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Over many visits, we tried nearly every dinner dish on the menu and all were very good, better than the average pub food. Service was friendly and the owner is heavily involved in day to day operations. Such a shame the Bull in Wargrave doesn’t allow children anywhere apart from the back bit and garden anymore. I had a conversation with the lovely bar lady who at first said it was the law but when I explained that perhaps it wasn’t the law but the landlady’s rule (sorry not a know-it-all, just an ex-publican!), she agreed and said perhaps we’ve slid under the radar in the past! Having been drinking and eating there regularly, and sitting in the front with our 9 year old as well as with other families with children, we now feel very unwelcome and pushed out! Unfortunately, it will be some time before we return.

There was also swede and carrot mash, red cabbage and lovely cauliflower cheese. A spare small jug of gravy was also supplied. They must have read my mind as I always want more gravy. Well the meal was to die for, everything cooked just right and lots of it too. Pudding was apple and blackberry crumble with custard for me. It was ok but after the roast I really expected better. Good food and beer. Service could be a bit friendlier. This is a good local pub that should focus on good quality reasonably priced food. The type of place where you think I can't be bothered cooking let's nip into the pub. But, it try's to compete with 'occasions' restaurants, whilst the food is good you can't get away from the fact that you are sitting in a pub with people drinking and socialising around you. The food is just too expensive for this environment - you are not a fancy restaurant. Be a pub serving food and you will be a really good one, you will always be a compromise if you try to be a restaurant.

The Bull is a good, traditional pub serving real ale, with a cracking inglenook fire place (excellent in winter!) and a nice little beer garden out the back which gets a lot of sun. We enjoy visiting with our young daughter for a drink and nibbles in the garden. We occasionally have food too....which we've found to be pretty decent but we don't really view this as a 'good food pub' and if you expect really tasty, quality food then you might be disappointed. We tend to eat here for convenience......the food is certainly not bad and we enjoy it, it's just not the standard of eating out as good as other options in this area.

Visited here with a group of friends for a Sunday lunch. We had booked in advance and so they were aware of the large group. We thought it was a bit odd that they only had one highchair available seeing as there were 2 children with the group. The portion sizes are very generous and a starter and main is a struggle! The roast dinner came with a selection of sides such as red cabbage, peas and a huge bowl of cheesy cabbage which was delicious :) only thing for me that let it down was that they offered no vegetarian roast option and only had one vegi option on the menu at all (mushroom stroganoff). Service was patchy, good at first but slow between courses coming out and a lack of noticing when drinks were in need of replenishing. Overall a nice little cosy warm pub, but a bit on the pricey side.

I did not enjoy my food at all. I did not like my starter of Stilton & broccoli soup. I did not like the chicken and bacon with rice. Found my food to be bland and uninspiring. Felt like my main course had been thrown in the slow cooker and left. The vegetables were lumps of broccoli and a strange red cabbage dish. The dessert (baileys cheesecake) was delicious and so was the coffee. However the rest of the group (the oldies) seemed to enjoy theirs.

Jane's Sunday lunch is the best we've ever had. It is head and shoulders above any other Sunday lunch we've had. We will definitely be going again, great food, service and a lovely old pub with so much history.

This was the most delicious pub roast We have ever eaten and will be back very soon! Crisp roast potatoes, thick slices of meat and Yorkshire puds. Then came giant servings of bubbling cauliflower cheese, vegetables and a bonus jug of real homemade gravy.

The perfect Sunday roast - we hosted a group of around 20 for lunch and the food was amazing. Not easy to cater for so many but brilliant food, service and setting.

Excellent Sunday lunch in a pretty village pub, good selection of wines and the beer is kept very well. Food is well cooked and served with lots of vegetables. Plenty of choice on the menu.

A wet Bank Holiday Monday, what could be better than a pub lunch? The answer is frankly anything would have been better than what we have just eaten. The pub was cold and we were shown into an even colder empty back room - we waited 40 minutes for two sandwiches with odd tasting chips (13 year old son left them that says everything) and Lasagne which was not good. We will not return.

We went to the Bull today and had the best Sunday lunch we've had in a pub for years. Excellent quality meat with loads of really good vegetables and wonderfull roast potatoes. The pub was busy so we ate in the garden. The staff were attentive and helpfull. The wholes family thoroughly enjoyed it.

Having once again abandoned the chaotic and beer-deficient George, we returned to The Bull. Always reliable, welcoming and with a far nicer atmosphere, this is everyhing a pub should be.

We received a friendly welcome and the service was spot on throughout. We only had mains as the portions were so big but all very tasty and obviously home cooked. The pies were massive and full of tender meat. We all really enjoyed our meal and time spent here. Friendly locals as well

Organised 30th birthday celebrations. Excellent venue, food & staff. Nothing too much trouble. Help and support was amazing. Would thoroughly recommend using this venue again. Bob was exceptional in helping with the organisation and helping us to clear everything at the end of the night. Thank you to all the staff.

Waited 30 minutes for 2 milkshakes. Went to the till to question and the cashier went out the back to say ‘ I need those milkshakes now’ 10 minutes later one milkshake appeared it was not what we ordered and tasted of milk. We asked for a full refund and left without drinking the milkshakes as they were not nice or made with care. The presentation was lacking. Long term customer of crumbs will not be visiting again.

It's a good spot for a local beer, screens up for sport etc. They've got tables outside and a covered little yard, shame it doesn't have a bit more of a secure garden to be able to bring your dog or kids for a meal etc.
