Came in for food and drinks with my family and what a lovely place it was! The food was great but then friendly walm welcome from Kaya was better! She always had a smile on her face and assured we had a lovely time! No job was to big or to small for her! Thank you Kaya we will definitely be returning!

Had an amazing time for my lunch. Staffs were lovely. The service time was perfect. Overall had a good lunch and a cheeky pint.

It was not the best Sunday roast I had. Portions were tiny, and I had to ask for more gravy ( which I got ). Yorkshire pudding was the worst I ever had. I am not going back to eat there again!

I have been coming here for 20 years booked a table for 14 people people on Saturday 17th September, started of OK got our meals asked. If was all OK and to be fair it was, after that nothing no would anyone like more drinks, coffee or deserts next we knew we were being thrown out, didn't even know it was last orders, just spoken to manageress (Emma) didn't seem interested said she would speak to the waiter back to the black boy next year top service.

Ate here on 7th sept 2024, have always in the past enjoyed our meals but have not eaten here for a long while. Very disappointed this time. 3 meals ordered after a long wait, first choice unavailable. Fish/chip meal hot and enjoyed, sirloin steak tastless and chicken overpowered with barbeque sauce, meal not hot. Inattentive staff, prefeffered to stand around being silly, very noisy next to glass washing machine. Desserts of apple tarts were uncooked and chocolate brownie lukewarm. Overall appearance of place dirty, doors need washing and repainting. Sadly also sat close to very noisy table although this is not the fault of the pub. Woke early hours feeling unwell and food poisoning suspected. Will not be visiting this pub again.

Thank you to Tommy and his great team for a very nice Sunday lunch, we will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of the tasty menu!

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting an old haunt I last used after my A levels in 1969! Excellent food,service and quality. Thank you ,especially Izzy, for making our lunch that little bit extra special. Will visit again when next visiting the UK from France.

Had a lovely lunch with friends, the food was really good … can highly recommended the vegetable tart! We were well looked after by Jordan, he was so helpful, cheerful and polite. Will definitely be going back again.

I've driven past many times & wasn't inclined to visit, due to the location on a busy crossroads & somehow the sign gives an underwealming impression. My friend had thought the same, but we were so wrong! I found it when looking for pubs in the area, close to dog walks & only realised it was the same place on approach. The staff were attentive & pointed out the doggy station, including water, blankets & a range of biscuits. The back patio area is lovely & overlooks the river Loddon. My friend even saw a kingfisher. There was a good range of options on the menu & our order arrived quickly. I had the short rib, which was melt in the mouth delicious. We had a lovely time & enjoyed our walk by the river too. We will definitely be back.

We eat here occasionally and it’s usually pretty good food but this occasion was pretty ropey. The bar service is always shockingly slow and no different on this occasion. We were waiting quite a while for the food. While in the bar I heard a member of staff telling the 3 or 4 staff members who were standing chatting in the bar that a whole pile of food was waiting for the tables in the kitchen. Another guy was waiting an age to even order his drink but the bar was otherwise empty, just no staff. Surprise surprise when the food arrived it was at best tepid served on completely cold plates. I mean food should be hot that’s a really cooking 101 base requirement. I would be ashamed of serving tepid food at home. Nobody came to ask if the food was ok. Also the guy who was hanging around the bar area who seemed to be a kitchen worker was scruffy and unkempt looking, I certainly wouldn’t have him let him in my kitchen! Won’t be rushing back.

Food was lovely, all staff friendly and attentive, Jordan was very accommodating letting us change tables and washed up a Prosecco glass especially for us and promised to order more for next time!!

Beautiful building with lovely terrace decking seats available, great service from Kaya and unbelievable food, recommend the signature burger topped with roast beef and steak and ale pie - all the beef just melts. 10/10 would recommend

Went here for a meal, found the food to be lovely and good value. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive, Saptaparna was brilliant. Would definitely eat here again.

Been coming here since ive been a little girl (too many years to admit up to!!) seen so many changes over the last 50 yrs (oops just gave away a hint of my age) but still love coming here 🥰 great service and food!

My sister and I sat out by the road as the back was a bit too crowded, The food we had was fantastic, we had the roasted seed & pea humus medley with toasted sourdough and a bowl of delicious chips, the lads serving were great, smiley, friendly. Also we could see the river which is lovely. We are going back .

I ordered a pint of Amstel, but when ordering a second pint as a shandy, I got charged the same price.

Good place for a drink prior to the Cinema. The barman was smiling and cheerful. Had a beer out front in the lovely evening sun prior to our movie. They do have their own parking, but best to park in the Cinema car park and walk round(if you are going to the cinema).

First time here with my husband, Great service from arrival, very polite and friendly, advised of special menus, suggestion of salmon, told who would be serving us, got drinks in straight away, took recommendation, food was delicious, especially for a Chef Brewer pub, definitely recommend it, staff are a credit to the pub, compliments to the chef, food was amazing, great experience all round.. well done 👏 ✔️

This was my first time visiting this establishment. From the exterior, it appears unassuming, but the interior is surprisingly modern and inviting. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and promptly seated. My beverage order was taken within minutes, and my food order was taken shortly thereafter. Although we all ordered different items, our meals were delivered simultaneously, which I appreciate. The food was well-presented and delicious. I highly recommend this establishment.

Visited a few weeks ago after the cinema - staff were nice and friendly. Food was good, although my daughter struggled to eat much of her steak as it was very gristly - to save going to waste for the price, we took for our dog! Was a convenient place to eat before our drive home.

I took my brother here for lunch as a birthday treat! The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food was very good and locally sourced. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of dining here 🙂

Nice pub, relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff and good food selection. Meals were enjoyable and hot. Good amount of food, although the salad / garnish was a little pitiful. We had mixed grill and smothered chicken. Meat was nice quality. We would come again.

the food was spectaculiar and the drinks were splendid. sometimes i even have dreams about this place. now that is how good it was. i will definitely be returning and i think you have a customer for life. i absolutely the lunch here and you did a really really amazing job, please please thank the chef for me if it’s the last thing you ever do. i cannot reccomend this place enough to anyone who ever even has a inkling of a thought of going here. you will not be disappointed. Great steak dinner on a lovely sunny day

Always know what you're getting at the George, good food, classic pub grub and a fabulous selection of beers and wines. Always a nice atmosphere and unwinding from work is easy.

Unfortunately 6pm isn't the best time for food on a Thursday presumably ! Service was very good but when your serving over cooked chips and hard batter on the fish and it's pretty obvious the oil needed changing and turning down. The grill needed cleaning as chicken was charcoaled blacker than the coffee on the outside and over cooked ! A big shame and unfortunately we didn't complain, as they weren't busy and clearly it is was the chefs day off I hope . Bad day at the office happens but I will try others in Woodley or surrounding area before venturing back ! Just my opinion but nearly £100 I expected better as The George was recommended.

I came here with a group of friends for a snack and drink to unwind after a concert one of them had performed in. Peaceful and quiet on a Saturday evening and great service.

The food here is always of the best standard and the staff are always cheerful and happy to help. Never had a bad meal

Lovely catch up session with an old work colleague. Decided to visit as I’ve heard it’s under new management Klaudyna (assuming that’s the new manager) seem to have changed the overall feel of the pub as you can see the difference. She must be such a busy lady

Sea bass was good but the sirloin steak was literally inedible, one big tendon. Managed to have maybe two bites and went home hungry. Shame cause the peppercorn sauce was really tasty.

Izzy the waitress was really kind and welcomed. We did not book tables and just walked in to the pub with out waiting. The food was OK. But for the price could be batter for a 16 pound burger.

The service here was horrible it took 20 minutes just to wake them up to take them over the starter was just vegetable sticks and took 30mins to take it over.I went over to ask to have our desserts over and then 10 minutes later I had to ask again then it took 10 minutes for them to take it over. Will not be coming again.

This is an old building so not accessible at all for wheelchairs. Luckily I can get in and out of mine and up the odd step or two. There are 2 sets of steps inside to the upper dining area and it would be a big help if one of these was a slope. Food good but I preferred it when it was independent.

Izzy was lovely and great food. Popped in and we had not booked but she sorted us a table. Fish and chips were lovely. Mrs has a lovely burger.

Squid was a stand out for me. Staff very friendly and welcoming, while the atmosphere added a nice experience too. Love the fact there were doggy treats and also doggy blankets available, awesome fair play. We would definitely return

Had a poor roast dinner here today. Most of it was cold apart from the short rib. Pigs in blankets were under cooked along with the dry roast potato’s. Yorkshire pudding was also extremely dry. The short rib was fantastic tho! My friend was also served pork when he specially told the staff he cannot have pork due to religious reasons. We wouldn’t come again sadly

We were served Ekatt was very good, food was also very good and reasonably priced as well. We used to come here when our son lived locally, it was good then as well.

Came here on a weekend evening at 6 pm. The pub got no food no snack and kitchen closed so early. Better to avoid.

We booked a table but when we arrived were told there were none available. We were offered table service in the bar section and then mostly ignored for the night, having to waive down staff to clear our plates 20mins after finishing and ordering drinks and dessert at the bar as no one came by to check or take orders. Even after ordering dessert at the bar, we were apologised to as they'd forgotten to pass the order to the kitchen. The food was good, and would probably be a recommendation on a night when there's enough staff to adequately cover the restaurant.

I haven't visited for a couple of years but decided to go for Sunday roast today this afternoon. Service was slow took two hours for two courses. My dad and I had roast turkey and my mother had the Atlantic cod. She could not have the roast dinners as they had onion and garlic which my mother cannot eat and are not listed as usual allergies. The cod unfortunately was over cooked, very fatty, had very little fish which wasn't even white and was mainly batter. My roast dinner especially the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding seemed over cooked but my dad's was ok. Dessert was good I had a salted caramel sundae. Service has always been slow which is one of the reasons we don't go too often there. It is no good if you are on a strict timetable to do other things after. They also had lost the key to the disabled toilet and had to use a knife to open it. Toilets not that clean. Visited again for my birthday. Toilets hadn't improved but brought disabled toilet key this time. Stinky disabled toilet and toilet paper wasn't accessable. Staff don't listen to no onion and no garlic when it comes to dressing side salad. Also don't put dressing on salad that was part of the meal. Pie top hard and gammon over cooked. Smothered chicken was only ok as onion rings weren't great and salad was not dressed and only rocket when it should of had cucumber as well. Desserts were okay.Service still took over two hours even though only two courses ordered and it wasn't that busy.

Lovely meal. Greeted by Luke and great service from Jack, Izzy and Bella. Food was really well prepared and portion sizes good. Restaurant was busy but we didn’t have long to wait for starters or mains. Great night out. Good atmosphere. Recommend.

Just wanted people to know that the chef special pork belly is ridiculous. The taste on this meal is so good, I cant explain it. Get down here and have it, WHAT A FANTASTIC MEAL!

A fair time since we were last here. Reading through the reviews we thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly impressed with whole dining experience. Warm welcome from Luke, service was a perfect pace. The food which was recommended by Luke (Pork belly & Seafood grill) was a brilliant choice, tasty and perfectly prepared. Compliments to the chef. Dessert (bakewell tart and custard) was yummy. Customer service we received from Luke was excellent and will definitely return. ,

Ive come here quite a few times for work (its just along from the premier inn - 5 minute walk). I've learnt that its best to book a table or check they are serving food before ordering drinks if your after food. The food itself is really nice - good menu and good quality. Staff are always friendly and pleasant. I had given a poor review before but based on a few more trips decided I was too being too harsh and must have visited on a off day before.

If you like a typical English pub, great place to go. Good service.

Huge pub that was very quiet, food smelt great, beers expensive

Drinks - ordered 2 pints of Fosters at £5.25/pint, served in generic unbranded glasses. When I asked the barmaid “are all the Fosters’ glasses waiting to be washed”, she replied “no, we don’t have any Fosters branded glasses, we only have these unbranded glasses”. The lager soon went flat as the unbranded pint glasses did not have the basic standard nucleated head saver at the base of the glass. It’s a bit rich to charge £5.25 & then have the audacity to serve it in a non branded cheap money saving glass! Food - we ordered the creamy garlic mushroom starters, eventually arrived & were barely tepid. When asked by the waitress was everything all right, I commented by saying the starters were both just tepid & that we’d appreciate the main courses being hot. Main courses arrived, got order wrong on one of the dishes, chips not fries but accepted the error. My wife had the pie dish & I had the lasagne. AGAIN, both dishes were served tepid & majority of food left untouched. The kitchen staff need to understand the simple basics of cooking - hot food should be served hot. Why? Simple, heat brings out the flavour of the food, that’s why it’s supposed to be served hot! Or if the kitchen staff do understand the relevance & importance of serving hot dishes hot then maybe it’s a simple case of a couldn’t care attitude. A couple of evenings later we visited the Good Companion pub not more than half a mile down the same road - incredible friendly atmosphere with plenty of staff to serve on a very busy night, Fosters £4.25/pint served in excellent Fosters glasses, piping hot very tasty food served at sensible prices. Watch out George, you have a significant competitor on your doorstep. You will need to raise your game to a minimal basic standard to have any chance of surviving!
