Elephant & Castle in Wokingham

Absolutely delicious!!! We are not local and found this just out of luck and it was just great. Nice warm atmosphere, helpful friendly staff and huge portions for a good value.

Popped in today for a roast with my 9 year old, was absolutely fab! I had the roast lamb, my son had a children's mixed roast and a chocolate brownie. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked and the service was spot on. Compliments to the chef Kieron. We'll definitely be back!

Out on a walk with friends on a very hot day and stopped off for refreshments. Friendly lady behind the bar who gave my dog some treats and pointed out water bowls in the pub for him. We didn’t stay long as we still had some distance to walk, but it’s definitely a pub I would return to.

Cant rate the food as didnt eat. Did have a very refreshing well kept pint of guiness though. Staff very friendly and a lovely traditional pub.

Went for a drink with my husband who has cancer , we were told only the regular ones who sit by the window use this pub . The place has a bad reputation of smelly greasy work men and and I was told the place is used as a brothel with Mike and Ben running it. Not a nice place to visit.

Had lunch here for Father’s Day. The food was delicious and great value for money. The service was really good - Ben was so attentive. Great play area outside for the kids to play.

Waited a long time for take away and food not good when we got home ( burger buns dry and solid) wanted it to be good as want to support our local.

Good little pub with a small garden in the sun with a little kiddies slide and play house Good range of lagers and the spot of lunch we had was inexpensive and enjoyable Will come again!

New ownership 7 weeks ago. Mum and I had roast turkey with peas, red cabbage, roasted carrots and cauliflower cheese children's size. Very tasty. Quiet atmosphere.

Lovely little find, desperately in need for late night food after a long drive down from Liverpool with a 3 year old and got served hot and tasty food even though the kitchen had closed a few hours prior! The amazing manager jumped in the kitchen and we got the best service along with tasty meals. Friendly and with a kids play area too! Highly recommended 🙌🏻

Only here for the beer, which is generally pretty good. The two bars in this pub aren't always both occupied. There is a good supply of car parking places and a smallish enclosed garden area. There is quite a community feel to the place.

Just popped in for a quick pint of Old Speckled Hen, and it was awful. Flat as a pancake, and served by a barmaid, who was uninterested. Didn't seem that friendly to a new customer.

Driving past, looked nice from outside, popped in for lunch, nice back ground music playing, appeared a homely pub, pub grub food at reasonable prices, Food took 50 mins to arrive, like they had gone out to slaughter a cow, or pluck a chicken!( even tho pub wasn't busy) when food finally arrived was home cooked and nice, but should of been informed of the delay from the start, otherwise would of ete else where, locals at bar got an apologee, we didn't!

Prebooked lunch part of 14 people. Arrived to a freezing cold pub, why didn't you put heating on? We sat in coats. A paltry effort at lighting a wood burner as we were leaving. Many items missing form the menu. Very slow service. Had I not been part of a large group, I would have walked out.

After waiting for quite some time and not being acknowledged by the one person behind the bar. i finally got my drink and then asked for a menu only to be told "Kitchens shut" The bar tender then just walked off - swiftly drank my drink and left, wont be returning

Service non-existent. Lady was filling dishwasher, chatting away and completely ignoring our side of the bar. After standing at the bar being ignored, we decided to leave and go else where

Awful experience. Left after not being acknowledged or served. 1 bar staff just slowly chatting and serving at snails pace. Not sure they needed more staff just more energy from the staff there as the place was not busy

Enjoyed an excellent fish, chips and peas with Prosecco on Friday for the Fish and Fizz night. First time for me at the Elephant and Castle. Cooked freshly, staff, first class and friendly. Afterwards, sat in the beer garden to finish the Prosecco which was very pleasant. Must try a Sunday roast soon. Highly recommend!

The food was lovely and filling sfatt were friendly and was pleasantly surprised by kids meal being on offer for £1 each during school holidays!

A proper little country (ish) pub with a garden and more importantly the servers were so friendly and welcoming! Food was great, rustic and simple pub food. It is so simple but so hard to do these days apparently! We went here to watch the Euro 2020 football final (England vs Italy) and the servers were instantly so warm, smiley and friendly! There was a nice buzz inside the pub and they brought out plates of chilli at half time for all the people watching 😍 The food was really good rustic, basic pub food without any of the pretentions of other pubs which have tried to be more "upmarket". Portion sizes were brillliant. A nice mix of people were in the pub too and it was what you want from a pub: a relaxing time to have a bit of fun in a buzzing atmosphere.

Bar staff all really friendly and welcoming, and the menu was proper English pub food. Sunday roast while watching the football was a real treat!

Were driving past and thought were would go in for a quick drink. They had outdoor seating to the front which wasn't sheltered and seating in the back under a marquee. We went in about 6.30pm and it was rather cold; just as well the waitress bought out blankets, that were wrapped in plastic. It was a shame they didn't have an outside heating. Nice atmosphere and the waitress was lovely, smiling, cheerful and very pleasant. We didn't eat though the food did look good. Would definitely go back.

Called in for lunch after a dog walk at Dinton Pastures. Friendly staff and great food and dog friendly too! Thoroughly enjoyed.

Great pub, great for adults and families alike. The food is lovely and the service is fairly quick too, based on when you go. The outdoor area is fairly big and allows for social distancing.

Llegamos a almorzar de camino a un taller de chocolate, pero definitivamente volveremos si vuelvo por allí. Hubo una cálida bienvenida y la comida era muy sabrosa y bien de precio. Tenía jamón, huevo y patatas fritas y me quedé impresionado. Sinceramente, nunca he probado un jamón tan suculento y desmenuzable, ¡perfecto!

Brilliant pub, perfect balance between families, foodies and drinkers (and somewhere to quietly catch up on work in a corner now and then !). Great food, choice of drinks (inc Thatchers Gold 🙂 !), bar snacks and really friendly staff. Dogs welcomed in the bar area, variety of sports on a couple of screens, great location, what more could you want from a great British pub ?! Ignore the 1 star review a few below, its not representative of this place !! I know cos I'm sat here on a Monday evening and I can tick all of the boxes above (as I can everytime I visit) 🙂

The score of this place is definitely fake. Worst roast of my life! Took an hour and a half for Sunday roast to get out. With one table in front of us. Did not start eating until 3.35pm! Roast was so rubbish! Factory made Yorkshire of fairy cake size. We gave the cardboard meat to our dog who refused it as it's just too chewy. Did I mention that charge £14 per roast? Upon questioning I've been told the meat was so over done because their elderly customers prefer it? Children play area, covered with dirt. No maintenance. Please avoid!

Fui a comer un domingo a la hora de cenar después de caminar desde Lower Earley por el río Loddon. Suficiente comida decente y una buena pinta se sentó en el jardín. Creo que ha cambiado de manos desde nuestra última visita, así que ya no hay comida casera, lo cual es una lástima, ya que me encantó el pollo al curry en una visita anterior. Mis brochetas de pollo Tandoori con pan plano, ensalada y papas fritas era bastante decente. Calificaría este lugar como bueno si está disponible en lugar de la media. El servicio es bueno y la comida se sirvió bastante rápido, volveremos.

Nicely refurbed. Tables to eat inside and in the garden. Food nicely cooked, good portions and fairly priced. Staff friendly and attentive. Beer selection good and well kept. Overall a really pleasant Friday evening meal out for the five of us.

Spotlessly clean. Friendly..great range of drinks. Sit in or out. It is a great pub.

Improved the decor recently in the back room. Food is solid if not a little overpriced. Multiple climbing frames in garden is good for small toddlers 18 months and up. They are in need of a bit of TLC but kept the kids entertained while we waited for our food. Would visit again

A lovely little pub in a quiet location. The staff are very friendly and service/food was brilliant. The children loved the secure play area and colouring on offer.

This is a fab little pub for families with small children, as they have a small play area. The menu looks good, but I haven't eaten here in about a year. The reason for only 4 stars is because it can be quite noisy due to having football matches on in the bar and this is where you are expected to sit with your children as the previous back bar has been turned into the restaurant which you can only sit in to eat.

We are a Family of four. We stopped here for Sunday Lunch & arrived after 1pm when it was very busy. (We checked for spaces about 15 mins previously as another pub nearby was fully booked). The Lady serving was very friendly & helpful. We were lucky that a table became free just as we arrived. The menu had lots of options but we all had a traditional Sunday Lunch. The food was all beautiful. Well presented & tasty. Loved it here. Hope to go here again when we are in the area.

Visitamos un domingo para un almuerzo de domingo. Buena selección de cervezas y buena selección en el menú. Los servicios estaban bien, pero la carne de los almuerzos de los domingos parecía ser cortada y recalentada. Perder el craqueo fue lo peor de todo.Hamburguesa estaba bien
