Lovely little sushi restaurant. Family run atmosphere. Not much dining space, only 3 tables, but does a thriving takeaway trade. Freshly made. Soft shell crab tempura particularly good.

A definite place we'll order from again. Service was so great and kind from the very start to delivery and the whole family was impressed with the flavour and quality of the food. My husband is a coeliac and they even included some gluten free soy sauce without us asking for it. Really want to wish this business continued success and will recommend to all my local friends.

A gem of a restaurant, small with limited seating, but I think that just adds to the experience. I had the Udon noodles in katsu curry with mixed vegetable tempura, and my daughter had a mixed platter of sushi. Best udon katsu I have ever enjoyed.

This was my favourite Japanese Takeaway until tonight. We ordered online for pick up 7 dishes. Gyoza - it was great as always we always order 2 portions Chicken skewers - very bland and not tasty Tempura pawns and veg - this dish was forgotten to be added to our bag Katsu chicken with rice - one of our favourite dishes, bit this time it was very disappointing, not very well seasoned and very watery Teriyaki Ramen Noodles with chicken - too oily, the whole dish packed teriyaki sauce, very bland Teriyaki Udon Noodles with chicken - the noodles very great the chicken was ok - one of the dishes that was ok-ish Once we arrived home and realized we didn't have the tempura we called and the lady confirmed that it's still there and said you can come and pick it up we will keep it for you, fair enough since we live a bit further away so delivery was not an option. We went back to pick it up, there was no apology and nothing else was even offered for the inconvenience. When we got home we were even more disappointed since the tempura dish was even more bland than the chicken skewers. The courgette even had uncooked flour bits around it. We might order once more but not very soon. Totally disappointong Valentine's dinner with hubby and the kids.

I can tell that the food are very good but if they can have more Japan food will be better

The shop just changed owner a few months ago. The new team is bringing the food quality in a whole new level! Food is wonderful. Potion is good. Price is reasonable. I particularly recommend fried rice.

Very cosy restaurant. Good service. Fair price. Been there a few times and food were delicious. One of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been. Atmosphere was a bit too quiet. Would be better if there is background musics.

Both taste and prices are good. However, eat in services will not be served around half an hour before closed in particular in lunch hours.

Ok, nice and soft sushi but too stingy with the salmon piece and way too thick of a portion of rice. Basically paying for rice.. prawn tempura was better but still not great. Lovely people, very small place to sit in so came home! May go back and try the noodles, saw customers plates that looked better

Second time ordering takeaway from them, all really delicious 😋 the ramen is good but not as good as the ones we had in Japan though but one of the best ones in Reagan. Sushi is fresh and tasty, with good portions, and the delivery is always on time 👍

Quite tasty, I wouldn’t say it’s the best Sushi I have had but it’s definitely worth ordering again. The online menu wasn’t easy to read on the website, tried to make it bigger but it keeps jumping and disappearing. Communication could be better but they are so friendly, I would definitely order again.

Tasty food with very reasonable price

I ordered take out of some basic tuna sushi and katsu curry. I turned up and put the order in quite late approaching the closing time if the restaurant. Even so the person who served me was very nice and the food came out super quickly. The food was tasty, I think the sushi could have been better but I reserve judgement as i think I should try some of the more elaborate sushi before making final judgement. The decor was pleasingly anime based and I would be very happy to eat in next time. Although the restaurant is small so will likely need to book in advance. I'd certainly revisit and will update the review accordingly once I do.

Ordered sushi to takeway. Waited for ages - daughter waited inside, me outside in the car. Upon asking, we found the food was actually ready, but they didn't pass it over. Perhaps my daughter was forgotten. Instead of apologising, a staff suggested I make the sushi at home myself. How rude!

We were staying locally for just one night and looking for somewhere to eat and decided to give Sen Sushi a try. We went in but they only have two tables so we were invited to sit at the side counter which was fine, the up side being we could watched the food being prepared in the kitchen. As we know nothing about Japanese food we ordered a starter and rice based main course each and it was delicious. No knifes and folks, just the chop sticks and spoon. Its such a shame we can't visit again

Our go to local for great sashimi. Try their katsu curry… it’s delish. See you again soon.

I absolutely love this place, it is our go to for sushi. It's a homely little restaurant, very authentic and the atmosphere is very calming. The staff are wonderful and always make sure everything is running smoothly and that we have everything we need. Can highly recommend!

This place is one of my to go to! Oh and my boyfriend too! Like 3-4x or more in a month, either delivery or dine in. Variety of choices from starters to sushi’s to rice bowls and ramen. Don’t forget the desserts too, sakura and match daifuku. Prices are good, not pricey with the quality you’ll get. We usually order a lot for 2 people so…

I had tempura vegetables and sushi. Both were perfect. The tempura was amazing. The selection is really good, and there is even some good vegetarian options. Very authentic Japanese food. I visit whenever I am in the area

So their idea of « spicy tuna » is obviously tuna with a dot of spicy sauce on top… Let alone them being very rude and not helpful at all… Will not come back and you shouldn’t either.

Not a good experience and the place is dirty. We have ordered Ramen deep fried prawn curry rice and sushi, all of them are tasteless.

Very good sushi. Better than other places I tried in Reading. It's a pity they are only open for limited periods in a day.

This is the best Japanese food I have had since I was actually in Japan. Everything is just perfect and transported me back there instantly. The gyoza and the katsu are definitely top of the list, but I have eaten from here three times now and have not come across a dish I didn't like.

Best ramen ive had in this country

We ordered the black pepper beef was over seven pounds but was incredibly salty and didn’t taste that good. The soy sauce udon was pretty good but you need to add money for any sort of meat or veggies. The chicken katsu curry had too much sauce, causing it to be very spicy.

It's possible we ordered takeaway at a bad time. But that doesn't excuse the gastrointestinal distress my partner and I both suffered a few hours after eating. Salmon sashimi was a fairly good start, but once we tried the nigiri we realised the rice hadn't been properly seasoned (or seasoned at all?) with sushi vinegar, so it just tasted like blocks of plain rice under fish chunks of varying freshness. Not really what we paid for. "Special harumaki crispy rolls" were greasy rolled-up pancakes that only tasted of grease. I'm still confused about why this is on the menu. The subpar food plus the amount of time I had to spend in the toilet afterwards and the nausea my partner felt makes it 1 star. I'm guessing all the 4 and 5 star reviews are due to the lack of good sushi options in Reading, and people getting luckier than us on the food safety front. Be warned!

I can't praise Sen Sushi highly enough. Their food tastes fabulous. It is alway fresh and delicious. My personal favourite is their tempura, but everything that I have tried so far has been scrumptious!

100% my favourite local restaurant. Excellent quality food freshly prepared and brilliant service . I’ve been eating regularly at Sen sushi since I first ate in in 2019 and all throughout lockdown they have continued to impress me with the amazing food. Cannot recommend higher :)

I ordered some sushi and noodles for the evening dinner with my family. Since we normally order from Osaka we decided to give another restaurant a go and - never again. The rolls were fine (rice was ok, good hosomaki, remaking soft but we didn’t expect the seaweed to stay crispy since we order delivery, alright uramaki with avo and salmon on top however the sashimi on top of the roll was very thick and in places hard to chew - which is okay, can’t blame the salmon). My vegan temakis were right next to the salmon roll, in one box, even though they could have been put with the other vege maki... Overall rolls were fine. However the noodles were an atrocity... the noodles we received were simply not edible, mashed up in a tiny container, looked like someone had to sit on them in order for them to close, prawns on top of the noodles were super soft and wet since they were on the noodles and not in a separate container. The noodles themselves were falling apart with the slightest touch, as if they were cooked for way too long, I could count maybe three pieces of veg in the dish, overall- a disaster... but the best part starts when deliveroo connected me to the restaurant - I was basically told to stop lying, that what I say isn’t true and they won’t do anything about the fact that the noodles are straight up disgusting because no one ever complains about their food and the chef and the boss agree to send another order of noodles if I pay for them because otherwise it’s sending food for free. Our conversation lasted for 18 minutes during which I was called a liar, I was told to stop, I was told that there can’t be anything wrong with the food and that noodles were perfect - they were perfectly jammed into a tiny box and flavourless mush instead of noodles... After 18 minutes very unhappily the man I spoke with agreed to refund the money for the noodles, apologised after calling me pretty much an idiot to his boss as they shouted back and forth without muting the mic so I could hear everything loud and clear. Would not recommend the take away service.

We live locally and had never noticed it! Found it online and what a result! :) Wanted something different for takeaway...kids don't like Indian; local Chinese has gone downhill...I read another review about difficulty with ordering on the phone..bear with them - how good is your Japanese? They don't seem to have got a website organised...but the food is excellent and large portions for the price. Hope - when the pandemic is finally over! - to be able to eat in - looks so cute!

Was excited to order Japanese food - however was very disappointed. The order was delayed and the food was simply bland and tasteless - wouldn't recommend.

The kobe beef with rice was just slices of beef. Salmon was not fresh and tasted terrible and mushy. The hand roll was soft and not crispy. Not returning anymore

Had ramen takeaway there when my wife was pregnant as she couldn’t stand anything too greasy. Excellent food, lovingly prepared. We’ve moved away from the area since then, but still occasionally order takeaway from the restaurant.

Sen Sushi was very busy last night. Signs of a good food outlet. I collected my order and we were very impressed with the food. Outstanding in fact. We will be returning.

The best takeaway we have had in a longtime. Mixed Nigiri and rolls were outstanding and the takoyaki was the best I’ve had anywhere. Small and beautiful inside the shop and really friendly staff. Only mistake was not ordering 2 portions of takoyaki.

Best sushi in Reading. We especially like their vegetarian options: their vegetable tempura is one of our favourites. Their always friendly, and if you can get a seat in the back, you can watch as they prepare the food. Right now, they're delivery and takeaway only, but that hasn't affected their quality or friendliness.

Food is delicious, fresh, healthy and heavenly. Friendly staff. Only downside is I'm .2 of a mile outside delivery zone. But, it's well worth the journey to collect.

The service was first class and staff really friendly. The menu has a lot to offer and a number of dishes you can't find elsewhere. The only negative I could comment on is the cleanliness of the restaurant and bathroom. It's great to watch the chef's prepare your food but couldn't help notice the lack of care for cleaning the food prep area. Other than that A+

Great sushi/Japanese restaurant in a secluded area. This is my go to takeaway but decided to eat in with a friend and didn’t regret it, as well as the quality of food being amazing it had a real authentic vibe to it and the small set up really works and gives it an edge on all the large chain sushi restaurants.

Driven past many a time and decided to pop in, all I can say is the food is delicious and fresh! Very polite staff, place is spotless and shamelessly have been getting a ramen noodle bowl about once a week since my first visit ! I’ve told all my friends about this place, it’s amazing!

Rare to find an authentic Japanese restaurant in this vicinity. was pleasasantly surprised with the small but cosy place, great tasting food at great prices. Highly recommended.

Hard for them to understand your order, so they sent the order wrongly. The tuna fish was terrible, hard to chew and semi-frozen. Strong cloud of fried fish smoke.

Stopped by Sen Sushi to pick up a takeaway for lunch. It’s a lovely little restaurant and very well set up. Tatami area and high stalls in the front then a chef bar in the back, so you can see the food being prepared. Very tasty and authentic food which is hard to find in the UK. The sushi had so much flavour unlike the plastic shop bought sushi. Very nice service and warm welcome I will be back to eat in next time!
