Lovely family run restaurant, I’ve been consistently happy with the fish and chips here. Last night they were absolutely out of this world. My kids don’t want to get them from anywhere else.

Haven't had a Chinese takeaway for ages and first time to Terry Lings and we were not disappointed! The sesame prawn toast and chicken satay on skewers really stood out and the rest of the dishes were so tasty 😋 we will definitely return 😋

Good Chinese, had the house special chowmain and it was spectacular. Have been back several times and has never disappointed. My wife is Chinese and she agrees so they must be doing it right. Still the best in 2024

Absolutely blown away with the amazing service, delicious, flavoursome 😋and hot food. Portion sizes were, very large compared to other takeaway experiences. Timing was surprisingly efficient. Thank you, so much, for catering for me and my family.

We've used Terry Ling's for 20 years. Very rarely let us down in terms of food quality.

Haddock and chips only £9.20 and it tastes really fresh and delicious. Fish is massive. Owners are friendly, family business. Quick waiting time. Would defos come back

It’s the best, best food, friendly staff

Have been using Terry Lings for many years. Food is usually 10/10 occasionally the ribs can be dry. They always greet you with a smile. Timings can sometimes be unreliable, taking longer than expected but worth the wait. Best for Chinese in Woodley. Have them stored ad one of my contacts.

Great chips from here, nice and crisp and not greasy. The fish was nice but the batter was fairly greasy, quite thick and was a bit soggy / underdone in places. The large cod was freshly cooked to order but it looked like they kept a small cod in the warmer pre-cooked so I avoided that. Large cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £11.40 (cash only). Good size portions.

They do nice Chinese meals and fair sizes. I do recommend call in advance, but even if you only walk in it's fast. Food was really good and good prices. Unfortunately they do not accept card payments, only cash or bank transfer (this was first time I have ever seen this, little bit odd, but if you do not have a cash, quite handy). Staff is nice, but there was a little language barrier, but all ok. Will definitely order again, because food was nice.

We usually buy fish and chips and sometimes noodles. Not very expensive. Not the most cleanest of the places. Small family run business. There is some parking just outside the shop..

just finished eating our dinner from terry lings and it was amazing. the chicken is so perfect and soft, i had the chicken with garlic and black bean sauce and it was the best thing i’ve ever eaten. i will be returing here to order more. can not recommend enough!! amazing

Moved to Twyford last year and have had a few Chinese take outs but Terry Ling's is by far the best. Good prices, very generous helpings and the best tasting. Definitely my new regular and would recommend to anyone

One of the better Fish and chip shops in Reading

Pretty good and done with a smile. Portions are better than salt and vinegar on the loddon bridge road.

BEST CHINESE IN READING! PROBABLY THE BEST IN BERKSHIRE! Never disappointed. Food always tastes nice. Loads of flavours. Good portion size. Bbq spare ribs are a must. Rice lovely and light and fluffy. Very polite and friendly staff. I would never go anywhere else.

Tasteless .curry had a spicy missing some as the curry sauce. Mushroom chow main was Tasteless .the egg fried rice tasted like dried egg powder absolutely disgusted. Never again .only went to this one because our usual was closed on a Monday. Very disappointed

Fast friendly service. High quality food Crispy chilli beef was exceptional! I highly recommend you try this place. Light crispy batter double cooked chips it's the small touches that make everything just perfect. Fantastic 1 pot menu selection is a must try.

What a shame, been going to this place for a while now but again I'm disappointed 2night with there curry, Very gloopy and no flavour, it just looked awful. Few mouth fulls and that was it, had to throw it away. My partner did have duck which he did enjoy.

This is our go-to Chinese whenever I visit my friend in Reading. Top notch food, consistently good! I've come back again and again 😊❤️

Best Chinese we've had for ages. Been on hols and didn't want to eat in the hotel........... expensive! So put in Chinese close to the Great House Hotel and Terry Ling's popped up. Only 6 minutes away. Fab, jumped in the car and boom there we were. Quick service. Special curry, sweet and sour chicken balls, prawn toast and chips. £19.00. Bargain. Food came quickly 10 minutes even though lots of people waiting. Chips were real chips proper salt and vinegar. When we got back opened and the portions were huge. Chips lovely, special curry was a lovely flavour, loads of prawn toast with a little tub of sweet and sour. The chicken balls were amazing big crispy and succulent, no words to describe the smile on my face and the wife's. We are now relaxing full with half a bag of chicken balls, half a tub sweet and sour and 2 pieces of prawn toast. Amazing value, great quality and quick service. A new name for having Chinese takeaway. We're having a Terry Ling's. Enjoy!

Great fish and chips! Crispy batter cooked to perfection

Not sure how this place is getting rated 4/5. Ordered here the other night due to lack of options and regular Chinese now closed on a Tuesday. Had Chicken Satay for starters which came in a big container but that was due to a thick layer of pineapple underneath which I have never seen served with satay. The sauce I can only describe as a cross between chip shop curry sauce and soup. Very gloopy and very little taste. Had crispy chilli beef for main and whilst it was very crispy there was little sauce for flavour and the crispy coating on the beef tasted strange like the oil was old. The only saving grace was the chicken chow mein. If you are the kinda person who thinks sweet and sour pork should come in balls in a bag and then you might like the food. If on the other hand you like qood quality Chinese then best to go elsewher. It is cheap but as they saying goes you get what you pay for. Try Dragon Inn, Winnersh or even better Keis in Lower Earley (Keis don’t deliver but well worth going to collect).

NO PRAWN CRACKERS!???? We popped in to Terry Ling's on our way home and ordered a set meal for 2 and some sweet & sour pork balls. I was stunned when I was told the bill was £37! (Pork balls were £5) The menu on display didn't have any prices but I foolishly though it would be similar to our two local takeaways in Twyford (£20-£24 for a meal for 2). We stupidly decided that it must be worth it (especially as we were so hungry) so agreed to pay and waited for it to be cooked. When we arrived home and unpacked our order we were surprised at the portion sizes of the satay chicken (far too much for two people) and a strange obsession with pineapple, it was in 3x different dishes!? The food was good, but nothing special. Very similar taste & quality to the Hong Kong in Twyford (which is a fraction of the price) but the biggest disappointment was NO PRAWN CRACKERS. Now I know this seems like a small concern but after spending so much money and reading in the [priceless] menu that prawn crackers were complimentary on orders over £15, I didn't think to check they were in the bag until we'd driven all the way home. On the whole a thoroughly disappointing experience. We certainly won't be making a second visit Terry Ling's anytime soon. We'll stick with The Oriental Wok in Twyford which has a much fresher tasting menu, more realistic prices and ALWAYS serves free prawn crackers on meals over £10!

bloody fantastic. my friend dad owns this place, i get discounts weekly, the food is so tasty. if your local you should definitely try.

Good place use regularly I think some of the prices on the menu are a bit extreme chicken nuggets for one and the chips can be very soggy at times and taste very undercooked

Order same thing every time yet this time get informed can’t have prawn crackers as I haven’t gone over the amount yet the last 6months I have been
