The Queens Head Inn & Restaurant in North Kesteven

We didn't really expect this, visiting the area and stopped for lunch. It's beautifully decorated, with outdoor seating, a conservatory, comfortable loungs seating and a dining room. But the main thing is the food. That's really good cooking. I wasn't terribly hungry (big mistake) so I ordered the wild mushroom risotto. Risotto is a pretty simple dish, isn't it? Honestly, this was the best risotto I have ever had. Creamy, peppery, chewy, with a slight crunchiness and big chunks of mushroom. My husband had roast lamb. It was just right, pink in the middle, and very tender. I pinched a bit to make sure. I want to go again, with a better appetite!

Booked this restaurant after seeing a great review by Doddington Hall. Staff were most helpful and polite but that was the best part. We ordered the Sunday beef roast I had just the Yorkshire pudding with gravy and vegatbles . It states the Chef is a winner of an award as best chef in Lincolnshire. I can only assume he was not working today but if he delegates responsibility they should act on it. Why oh why does a restaurant of this standard serve frozen carrots and peas when plenty of fresh veg in season. Roast potatoes were not roasted at all just a pale colour. The chocolate brownie was so dry it was not enjoyable. Most disappointing after reading some excellent reviews and traveled 40 miles for this experience . The setting is excellent with nice relaxing areas but the food leaves a lot to be desired . Do something about it please or you will lose your reputation for good food . Not frozen vegatbles served for Sunday lunch.

Excellent. We dropped in for a light lunch whilst in the area as we had visited the place many years ago and knew it had new(ish) owners. What an amazing return visit, the place is so up-market on décor and facilities but not prices. There were Ala carte, Main and Light Lunch menu options. We had the light lunch, 2 courses for under £15 per person, and it was an absolute treat. Food quality and delivery were both excellent. We sat in the Conservatory and it was a match for many high-end restaurants that I've been to over the years. From the minute we walked in the door we felt welcome. We had a nice chat with the Barman (whose name escapes me and I am truly sorry for that as he really deserved the recognition for making us welcome). The car park is not massive but there are some really nice covered seating areas outside, all furnished to a high standard as well, a separate smoking area and even a beer tap for dogs (water).

Party of 4 visited 23rd June ate in main restaurant very pleasant environment good attentive service all 3 courses very well cooked and presented we all loved fluffy roast potatoes and tender roast beef Good value for money would recommend too all

Fantastic Meal, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented. The meal was so good it almost stopped conversation whilst we were eating. Nothing was to much trouble, the service was excellent. All in all a very good night out.

I’ve been here for lunch three times so far and would highly recommend it. Excellent food and service. Nice relaxing bar area too.

Great Sunday Lunch with Mrs B's family, 7 of us. A varied Set Menu was the choice. Mrs B started with the Tomato Soup & I had the Lincolnshire Sausage Scotch Egg, & we both had Lamb Roast for mains. Various different meals were ordered by the rest of the family including the 2 Vegetarians. Overall we had a great meal with all the food thoroughly enjoyed. The service was extra Special. Highly Recommended.

The food is really good, and the prices are great compared to many other local restaurants of the same quality, the senior citizens lunchtime menu just cannot be beaten

Amazing food and service. Can't recommend this place enough, saw the sign and needed a bit to eat, and so glad we did. Had a lovely welcome, you could tell everything was fresh and made from scratch, hoping we pass on our way home so can visit again. There was a group behind us have the 3 coarse meal deal, the guy loved the mushroom starter so much he changed his dessert to the mushroom starter. Thank you for an amazing meal and welcome, was the perfect start to our few days away.

Another fantastic meal this week. I never get better vegetarian meals than the ones here, the flavours are always fantastic. The three meat eaters with me were also really impressed with their food (again). The menu is always interesting, with creative flavour combinations that really work. Love the commitment to local ingredients too. Also - the staff are fab. Bar and wait staff always really welcoming and great at their jobs. We’re lucky to have this place so near Sleaford.

We’ve been meaning to come here for a while now but we’ve only just gotten round to it, I’m so glad we did. The food was absolutely beautiful - really tasty. Plenty of food to choose from and I think, reasonably priced. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back again soon.

This is the second Sunday lunch at the queens head this year for myself and my husband. I can only commend the queens head on there excellent service, quality of food, and value for money Our waiter Nathan was attentive and a credit to the establishment. We will definitely be back.

Sunday lunch was absolutely fabulous and certainly lived up to expectations. We visited 2 weeks previously to sample the award winning dinner (which was superb) so had to visit to sample Sunday lunch. We enjoyed fabulous food and great service on both occasions.

Visited with friends and was immediately impressed with the decor. Unfortunately it was not warm inside and I found it uncomfortable. The staff were pleasant and made us welcome. Drinks were served in the lounge area whilst our food was being prepared. The menu choices were reasonable and is wasn’t too long before we were escorted to the table. There was next to no heating and we were all cold. The meals arrived and most of us were disappointed with the portions, especially the lack of vegetables on the plate. The food was tasty and presented well but for the cost very meagre. We had a sticky toffee pudding to follow which again disappointed. The sponge pudding was dry and tasted like ginger cake. The toffee element was all at the bottom of the dish with a tiny bit of ice cream on top, very unimpressive. This being our first time in this restaurant we will not be returning.

So , we went to The Queen’s head for Sunday lunch , parking right outside, the place is very nicely decorated and comfortable and spotless clean , as a non meat eater I chose the haddock with kedgeree and it was the nicest fish dish I have ever eaten, sometimes the non meat alternative is a poor meal ( vegetarian sausages) but this was absolutely delicious 🤤, my dining partner had roast beef , cooked perfectly with lovely big Yorkshire pudding and fresh veg , plenty portion size , Nathan our server was attentive, pleasant and polite, sticky toffee pudding to follow was just lovely, we will def be going again, absolutely 10 out of 10 👍🏻

Went here for the first time with my mum today, it was lovely! The service was great the two ladies were more than helpful. We weren’t aware of the senior citizens menu until arrival which is great value for money! The older lady ( I assume manager) was lovely and attentive and very helpful around local guidance. They have many events going on which if I lived slightly closer I would attend, I will be stopping here again on my travels!! The food is great value for money & the restaurant is beautiful!

The Restaurant set up is lovely, but found it chilly. Did find it unusual for the time of year the restaurant was not busy at all for a Christmas lunchtime. The soup starter was lovely apart from it was Luke warm, even after it was sent back it still wasn’t hot enough. The Turkey main was ok lacked in Vegetables, 4 sprouts and 1 whole carrot! The chocolate dessert however was lovely. Found the service staff attire odd, serving in fleece jackets in an A’la Carte Restaurant.

Oh dear! Had lunch today which was mediocre. Eating iffy Formica top tables is very café. There were white table cloths in jain restaurant but they were un-ironed and shabby. Service was passable, however, staff wearing fleece jackets is not a good look. This is not a cheap place to eat, so it needs to smarten up. Service was friendly, just not professional.

We decided to visit after seeing a post on the Lincolnite news post. Wasn’t too sure where Kirkby la Thorpe was but we found it via their website. Arrived and sat in the lounge/ bar area. We wanted to eat in the restaurant as looked lovely. It was a game based menu (as in season,great) We both had starters and mains. Beetroot, game terrine followed by venison and casserole. Great flavours, presentation and seasonally. Overall impressions GREAT! love to come back and try the Christmas menu but may have to re visit next year, but we will. Great job chef and team. Simon

54th anniversary, midweek so quiet, brilliant! Great staff , friendly and very attentive. Food? Absolutely fantastic. Modern quinine on large plates which look strangely lonely but exceptionally filling (if that’s why you want) but to me exquisitely prepared and presented. Second time visiting the Queens Head. Does not disappoint. The food was first class and did not disappoint. Will certainly be back when next visiting our family.

We regularly visit the area to see family and found the Queens Head to offer the best options for our dining needs. We dined in the restaurant on Friday night and were greeted on arrival and waited in the lounge bar (while the food was prepared) option of nibbles were available. I had the scotch egg and lamb and the wife had the sea trout and orzo pasta. Extremely impressed. Service was good and we like the restaurant being separate to the bar area to enjoy a peaceful night out.. thank you all And will return soon

Just been reading the review off a diner who said the food was great having been with s party if 6 and him saying he was near a table of 6 that complained , there was no one near us who was eating , nor no-one at the bar when the complaint was made , the meal was shocking , it cost over £70 a couple no one finished there meal plates were left with food on them . I suggest this person should have sat with us then comment on what ours was like. If you can't take proper criticism then you shouldn't be running a pub !! We certainly won't be returning

Came here for Sunday lunch and felt I had to leave this review after reading another on here. We came and took advantage of the late lunch offer, a roast for £12 which was a bargain, £29.80 our bill for 2 of us with roasts and a drink each. Anyway there always another table in of 6 and it seems they left a review stating the food was poor, ours was delicious and we also witnessed 6 empty plates from the other table, and a waitress asking them if everything was ok, and they said yes, As a regular here I don’t think it’s fair and wanted to put it right.

We booked for 6 a few weeks in advance to ensure that we secured the booking as we had friends over from Australia. It was a 4pm slot, so one of the last for Sunday lunch. Entrees were fine. Then the roasts came out & they were appalling! The chef should have been embarrassed to send them out! 4 out of the 6 meats sent out were like leather, dry and tough, with crusty edges, like they’d been sat under a hot plate all afternoon to keep them warm. As 2 of the mains were ok, I left it until the end of the meal and persevered with it. However at the end of the meal, I removed myself from the table & the ears of other diners to discreetly speak to a member of staff and explain how disappointed we were. She apologised & said she would speak to the chef. She came back to the table & apologised again and asked us if we’d like dessert. At this point, after the poor mains, nobody was interested. We asked for the bill and when it came were surprised that it had been charged for in full. The most laughable thing was that there was a thank you card asking to leave feedback with trip advisor (coincidentally our Australian guest works for trip advisor in Sydney!) but if you were unhappy in anyway, speak to a staff member so that they could rectify it! Quite clearly nothing had been rectified - not a discount on the bill, free drinks or a dessert on the house. I can’t state enough how embarrassed I was to bring my Australian guests here! Very disappointing & the other 4 guests will not be returning!

This is the best Restaurant in Lincolnshire - I kid you not! Finding it is a nightmare as the postcode retakes you into the village - but it’s on the Slip road off the A17. Anyway we have been here twice in 3 weeks and living in Derby - travelling to Sleaford to eat here shows how good it is! The food is SO tasty, the combinations for example of beetroot/Goats cheese and walnut for example is stunning! My wife has had the lamb both times (it’s so good) I had the Rissotto (1st time) the Pasta the second time - bit were cooked to perfection! If you are anywhere near Sleaford and looking for somewhere to eat, don’t faff around go here! It is stunning ! Sorry I don’t have example of all my dishes but here’s a few

We visited on a Tuesday Lunch for a Senior lunch deal. What a lovely lunch. The staff were attentive and really pleasant. The food for first class, beautiful haddock and. Hips with homemade mushy peas. Choice of two meals for a bargain price of 2 courses for £15. Beautifully cooked and presented. We will be back for an evening treat, brilliant menu to look forward to!

We went out here for an evening meal last night after seeing you advertised on Facebook. We only live about 15 mins away but hadn’t visited you before and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was lovely and clean and spacious and there was a good choice of food and drink on the menu (including cocktails - can recommend the frozen strawberry daiquiri as it was delicious!) we went for the tapas and all of the food was well presented, tasty and there was plenty of it. Well worth a visit!

An amazing night with friends - booked last minute and they managed to accommodate all 6 of us, and the food has the wow factor - you don’t see that often around here! First time for 5 of us, but won’t be the last!

What are you waiting for? Just go and eat here to keep this wonderful venue alive. Lunch on a Monday and Tuesday at a great price of £12 for two courses. Or £17 from wednesday to saturday. Lovely meals and great staff. Easy to find just off A17 and large car park.

Quiet country pub restaurant with great selection of dishes to choose from. Try their tapas selection, fantastic choice and presentation. Indoor and outdoor seating, clean, friendly and attractive. Half hour walk from Sleaford town centre, or just 10 minutes by car. Car park available onsite.

Beautiful place looks fabulous but the prices for a Sunday lunch was far to much having to pay extra for veg that really should have been part of the meal l found insulting, there needs to be more of an effort and less of a price tag. In my experience, there was no variety of vegetables, a huge yorkshire pudding to hide this fact, and to have to pay extra to make up your dinner. l can honestly say l have had a lot better

The Queens Head Pub was fantastic! We enjoyed the whitefish dip, the trout chowder was wonderful as well as the caprese salad and bread pudding. Highly recommended for both food and friendly service!
