I booked a room through Booking.com for 2 nights for my partner and myself for whilst we attend an event at Ragley Hall over the weekend of 28-30th June 2024. I booked well in advance (Nov 2023), 7 months before the event! I have just received an email to say may booking has been cancelled due to overbooking! I can only think that the Queens Head Inn management have been able to secure a booking of a greater monetary value due to the closeness in date of the event and accommodation now being hard to find. As you can imagine, I am extremely disappointed in the way I have been treaded by the Queens Head Inn and I am now left to find alternative accommodation in such short notice. I would not recommend to book a room here as obviously the management are not trustworthy or sincere.

We ordered a takeaway and I spoke to the chef beforehand who assured me that the food would be excellent. We started with salmon and the portion was so small for £6.50 that I felt insulted. The taste was ok at best. My wife had ordered a prawn curry and she could not actually eat it. I had been assured that I would taste a main course to remember. There was a nice amount of chicken but the sauce was bland and lacked any real flavour. We were both extremely disappointed

This restaurant is now a superb Indian !! Friendly staff and delicious food plus a good wine list. We had the poppadoms and relishes which were a treat followed by curries, rice & the most amazingly light and crispy peshwari naans😋😋😋. We had refreshing ice creams to cool us down. The quality of the offerings and facilities are going to make this a winner. Spacious & private dining experience.

We had a family get-together for my brother's birthday and had heard good reviews about The Queen's Head (Rasoi). There were 7 of us and we ordered poppadoms to start. The pickle tray was lovely, with a big selection and even a coconut dip which we'd never had before. The main courses arrived and although they got my sister-in-law's order wrong (she doesnt eat meat but does eat fish, so had ordered a prawn madras but they bought out a chicken madras - this was soon rectified and she was given the correct dish), everything was really lovely. The portion sizes are good and the food hot and nicely presented... and even the plates were hot which is a bonus! We had a very enjoyable meal and it was reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Had a takeaway delivery from here, ordered a Chicken Madras which I was hoping woukd dictate a nice spicy curry. What I received did not resemble anything close to a Madras or even a spicy curry. It was very bland. I did call the restaurant to be told that they do not do a spicy Madras. The gentlemen did offer a replacement but in all honesty the moment had gone. I am pretty sure in all the years I have been eating Madras curries they all have varying different degrees of spice .......but generally they are spicy

Absolutely superb, from the welcome from Gee and Alfie to the superb food, I wish we lived closer! Coming here for a couple of days from Liverpool, this was an unexpected delight! The relishes for the popodums were fabulous, so delicious and different. We then had the duck and chicken from the specials menu, just exquisite, the flavours, the tastes, the presentation, orgasmic! The jeera rice and naan equally superb. All then finished off with chai, black tea with loads of spices and cinnamon, lovely 😊

Had a few fab curry’s from here over the past few weeks at the weekend. We had the same as always today (a Tuesday) but for some reason the curry was a completely different colour, had half the normal amount of chicken in, and tasted extremely bland. We normally are given a few popadoms to go with it to but didn’t get those either. Very disappointed for my birthday treat, rang up to check it was the correct order for us but was fobbed of with ‘yes it’s just a different colour today’ 🤷♀️ Shame as we were really enjoying a weekend curry. We may as well have cooked a jar or shop bought korma.

We’ve been having Sunday lunch here for years, we’ve also taken family and friends who’ve all been very impressed with their Carvery. In the last 3 weeks The Queen’s Head has changed hands, the new owner has not only increased the price of a Carvery by £1, they’ve also sadly reduced the quality of the food, the meat is definitely a cheaper quality, and the once vast range of delicious vegetables have now been replaced with cheaper and poor looking vegetables, the giant Yorkshire Puddings are now not even Aunt Bessie level, they’re more like Tesco Value level, the broccoli, green beans and peas are all light in colour and soggy. It’s nice to see that the new owner has kept on the lovely front of house staff, but going forward, if this is the standard of food on offer, then it’s a matter of time before The Queen’s Head closes, which would be a massive disappointment. Here’s hoping things change before it’s too late..

We booked a room at The Queen's Head at the last minute on a Friday night and received a warm welcome when we arrived. We decided to have an evening meal and were glad we did. I had a delicious authentic balti, my wife opting for the carvery. The room we stayed in (The "Stratford Room") was warm, spacious, had great facilities and a very comfortable bed. The room overlooks a main "B" road, but it isn't a busy road and the secondary glazing in the room shields out any noise. We ate a cooked breakfast in the conservatory, offering pleasant views. The breakfast was a very generous portion, ideal for anyone about to set off on long journey and the vegetarian option was particularly nice. Simon, the owner, informed us that he had only taken over the pub a week ago. He is an excellent chef and host, nothing was too much trouble for him and if that is the usual standard of service then he deserves great success. We will definitely be back when we next visit the area.

Popped in on Sunday for a beer and carvery and was not disappointed. The food was fresh, well cooked and very tasty. A good selection of beers to and a bunch of really helpful girls behind the bar and clearing tables. Not over busy but still the food was great and really fresh, it got busy later as people with bookings arrived. Downside was their desserts were neither plentiful nor was there much of a choice but after a 4 meat carvery with up to 16 different vegetables we were of no mind to partake in dessert anyway. We will return and encourage others to visit!

I called in midweek just after 6pm and had to ask if they were open (open all day sign) because it was empty - I had been before quite a few times (but not for a couple of years) when It used to be really busy and very good. We paid for the carvery and I ordered the UBU real ale which was disgusting. I tried the only ale other available at the time and it was just as bad (I am a real ale experienced fan) - so bad I had to have a glass of water to remove the bad taste. The carvery was at best leftovers from lunchtime but more likely leftover from the night before. The beef and pork were so dried out it couldn't be carved - it just crumbled and the breaded ham looked to be 50% fat. The vegetables were mostly mushy or mummified - my son nicked the only roast potato that looked edible, thankfully the boiled potatoes and Duchess potatoes and parsnips were OK. The only waitress/ serving lady was pleasant and did her best but was undoubtedly embarrassed. If they believe that is good enough I'll be surprised if they are still open in 6 months.

Big sign outside saying, carvery £6.95 in large print but in tiny letters says Tuesday to saturday ,so people are being lured in by the large print. Went in on sunday and was charged £38.00 for two lunches ( about £16.00 for the house white wine which was awful). The woman who served me remained stoned faced while serving me! It got worse...a young girl attempted to cut some beef for me with a very blunt knife, and I ended up with what looked like pulled beef! And my wife had refrigerator cold ham! This was at 12.30, and everything was cold! AWFUL!!!! Then sat in the in garden amidst broken benches and ashtrays which had about a week's fag ends in,and weeds everywhere!!! Many years since I visited The Queens Head and decided to call in for a drink and the Carvery which was priced at £6.95 on the board outside! It was around about 2 pm and hardly a car on the car park..not a good sign, however, we were really thirsty and decided to go inside anyway. The Staff were very friendly and attentive and advised us that only Carvery was served on a Sunday, no other choice, We had to admit it looked really good and an excellent choice of meat and vegetable too....we went ahead and ordered 2 carveries, which were in fact, £9.95 a head, a little bit steep we thought. Anyway, it was delicious, meat extremely tender and a huge choice of perfectly cooked vegetables, could have been a bit hotter, we both agreed, and we both agreed that £9.95 was a little too much for a Carvery, even though it was tasty, There were only another 2 couples in the pub when we were there, on a Sunday lunctime, and I believe that wasn't because the food wasn't good, but because expensive.

One not at all as it looked on the website and limited menu, the other not doing lunch due to a busy Saturday night event but they recommended Queen's Head. I'm not a fan of carveries as veg sometimes overcooked. However veg were okay, roast potatoes could have been crisper but the beef was amazing. So tender and proper meaty gravy, definitely NOT Bisto. Upon a arrival we were greeted with a smile, the place was empty but given it was only 5.40pm mid week this was not surprising.4 people dined on this 1st visit to this establishment and it will be our last.We picked a table of our choice , out in the conservatory area.No table service.Walked to bar to get drinks and set up tab (which is always useful)Sat back down to find an ant running across the table which was duly dispatched to the afterlife, (no Buddhists here) 2 minutes later another ant, maybe a distant cousin looking to just to check out where his mate was or maybe going for the revenge attack who knows? but they will meet again in the afterlife you can rest assured.I Think if there were any others around they had got the message this table was not going to messed with.I suppose it didn't help having wooden floors in the conservatory with gaps in where the delights of excess food and drink can supply a colony of ants for ever and a day.But enough of the Ants. Maybe if the venue decides to read this review they can put some ant powder down, I certainly am not going to do there job for them. All 4 of us decided to go down the Carvery route and made our way to the counter, to be fair the food on offer was well presented and looked and smelt appetizing.Meat portion sizes were excellent, but the Cauliflower was under cooked by a mile and the roast potatoes were overcooked to the point of needing a hammer and chisel to eat them. Come on Chef you can do much better than this! maybe get someone to taste test before dishing out the trays to the customers.I must say the Yorkshire pudding and Stuffing were very tasty and certainly tasted very home-made. In all fairness had it not been for the rock hard roast and extra hard Cauli, I would have enjoyed it.I passed on desert but my 3 other companions all decided to go for Cheesecake and Ice- cream (no Complainants there) A bill of £53 for 4 people (one who was on a pensioner special) all 4 with soft drinks.I have had better for less but I suppose this is about average for pub food. Not on my recommended list, but I wouldn't say don't go maybe try it to see if they improve.

We had booked a table for our party in the conservatory Friday 16.12.2016. It was obvious as we ordered drinks that the carvery/vegetables had been hanging about several hours and the peas/roast potatos/cauliflower were so hard you could not cut them. The meat was very dry too and all in all, a very unappetising meal. The starters took a long time to come which was due mainly to only one guy who was trying to serve drinks, bring starters to table and serve the carvery and the deserts. There were only two other people in the Pub and our party was only 9, so cannot say that the place was busy. The heating was off and we all had to keep outer clothes on to stay warm which is not what you want when you are eating out.We have eaten here on several occasions and been relatively happy with the food, but this was our special Xmas get together which turned out to be a very disappointing both in the food and the cold. Will now not go again.

When we first arrived it seemed a bit quiet but that really was a benefit to us as the friendly barman by the name tom kindly allowed us to play some christmas music. As for the carvery the poor barman tom seemed to be the only one which resulted in waiting times of half an hour and when we reached the gravy looked fairly revolting but wasnt quite as bad as the peas which seemed to have been left there for hours. In general, with the roast potatoes being an honourable exception most of the veg seemed like it had been left for several days although you were allowed as much as you liked. Moving on to the meat the standout performer was mr tom taylor again with large chunks of meat and always checking you had enough. Of the meats the gammon was exceptional and the pork was quite nice but the beef and turkey were both extremely dry even when slathered in gravy. After wed finished the young man tom was again quick to clear our plates despite being overworked. After the meal hed even put on a pub quiz for us to our extreme delight. In conclusion the food was as expected for a pub but in general was a good meal. The service was exemplary despite the long waiting times and id like to add in the event the owners are reading this that tom taylor was an absolute star, always serving with a smile and extremely helpful and id be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to him for making it such a memorable meal.

Visited here again and as always it was lovely. They had some decorations up this time for Christmas and the tree looks lovely. I had the carvery again and it was as nice as it always is, they had suede on the carvery instead of sweet potato this time which isn't something you find at a lot of carverys, I do love a good roast dinner and must say this one is one of the nicest in the area, the meat was tender and the staff were smiley and chatty as per usual, I didn't have room for dessert but took it home with me instead for later. I will be back again soon no doubt!

Been here quite a few times now as it's only up the road from my house. I was quite surprised to see so many negative reviews. I have only had carverys from here so couldn't comment on the menu. The decor of the place is a bit run down but that's an unfortunate reality for many pubs these days. I have had many carverys from many different places and I have always enjoyed going here. The staff have always been friendly and the only issue I have had was the cauliflower cheese was a bit hard but it was better when I visited this week. Most of the staff are quite generous with the meat which is great!Something I never understand with the vast majority of carverys I have had is why they never let you help yourself to the Yorkshire puds?!All in all its not a bad carvery. I will continue my weekly visits!

We called into the Queens Head as a break on our trip home from the South West.We got drinks and then decided on what to eat.Sadly the staff seemed totally unconcerned as to our potential needs. They seemed to be operarting on a cross between Faulty Towers and Little Britain. No smiles, no friendly greeting. As customers we seemed to be a imposition and distraction rather the the reason for being there.Added to this, as the carvery looked unappertising and overcooked, we decided to drink up and look elsewhere.O.K. working in a pub isn't everyone's ideal job, but please don't take these feelings out on the customers or the product that is on offer. Equally, owning or managing a pub and resturant probably seems easier than it turns out to be a reality. Please manage your resources, get a decent chef and serving staff and please don't let risk the investment that you have undoubtedly made in The Queens Head..Undoubtedly the pub is a beautiful old fashioned building and potentislly could be a lovely venue, but ,very sadly, this wasn't reflected in its carvery or its staff. a shame.

We have had the Carvery here on a few occasions and have always said they are the best around. We know a few people who have been since we last went and have said how it's gone down hill. We believe the chief we had has left and the new one isn't up to the old one's standard. We will be going back shortly to see if this is true or not.

We visit The Queens Head quite often for a Sunday Carvey and have always had a lovely experience until the last few weeks. I'm sorry to say but since Billie has left its gone down him and todays experience was awful. The girl serving behind the bar needs a lesson in customer service and maybe try and put a smile on her face, always looks fed up and blatantly told us she was the only one old enough to serve and had been waiting 2 hours for her own break! I cant fault the girl with glasses serving the carvery, she couldn't be lovely or more polite and the girl with the blonde hair was rushing round trying to clear and clean tables when others stood around. The last few weeks on arrival the bar always seems to have a cluster of dirty glasses and empty tables full of dirty plates, even with staff stood around behind the bar doing nothing! In front of the carvery and by the sauces was dirty and needed wiping down - I felt the need to point this out. I really feel you need someone at least someone to take lead, especially on a Sunday and always make sure your staff are allocated jobs to do and that they also do other jobs which blatantly need doing when they have nothing to do! Desert counter always seems to be running low. I really hope this improves before we even consider booking for Christmas.

The queens head is terrible. The staff aren't helpful and don't care about customers. Also the food is disgraceful. The beef is hard and chewy and the yorkshires are burnt and all the veg was not cooked. You are also given very small portions of meat and there is potatoes in the carvery. It is always cold and the staff do nothing about it. Overall it is probably the worst meal I have ever had.

The Yorkshire puddings were burnt (completely black on the bottom). Beef was overcooked therefore very tough and chewy. The potatoes were very firm and the pork was very fatty. Furthermore the meat was carved very poorly. The staff were very rude, they didn't ask how we were or how the meal was at all. We were all very disappointed with this meal and would find it very difficult to go there again.

I looked on here before our visit and was a little put off by all the bad reviews, we decided to go anyway as we had booked a table, i'm so glad we decided to! We were so impressed with the meals, we ordered the pensioners specials, meal and dessert for only £7.95, can't go wrong with that!! I had carvery and my husband had the fish and chips. There was a huge selection of vegetables to choose from and four different meats, i was surprised to be told i could have more than one meat and was even asked if it was enough on my plate by the carver! It certainly was! I really enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere was very nice, I think i might have the fish and chips next time as my husband said how nice it was. By the time we were done we didn't have room for dessert but the staff informed us we could take it home so we did that instead. Overall it was lovely and I'm so glad we diced to go and ignore the recent bad reviews, i'l definatley be back.

We visited the Queens Head a year ago, as we were having our campervan serviced nearby, and were very impressed with the quality of the carvery and the service. We returned to this restaurant again at lunchtime a few days ago, again while our campervan was being serviced, but this time with family. The restaurant was much quieter than last year. There appeared to be a slight air of panic about the place. The lady who served me at the bar appeared slightly flustered, when she eventually appeared. My wife and I ordered the 'Pensioners Special' i.e. carvery and dessert and my daughter and son-in-law ordered gammon and chips (with fried egg) and scampi and chips respectively. When my daughters gammon arrived the chips were dark brown and overcooked. Her fried egg was black underneath and burnt around the edge. The yolk was solid, not even rubbery. How the **** did that even leave the kitchen ! My son-in-laws scampi and chips were the same dark brown and overdone. I had to ask one of the staff to get another fried egg which was slightly better but still burnt underneath. Assume the hotplate hadn't been cleaned for a while. If you can't cook a fried egg then there's no chance with anything else really. The carvery was not much better. The meat was very dry and crumbled when cut. Vegetables were not too bad but ... a teenage boy, who I think was part of the family, was on our side of the bar double/treble dipping Yorkshire pudding in the gravy. Hopefully he didn't have anything infectious etc. A health inspector would have had a field day. We did mention it to the staff but it put me off the gravy. We took our puddings home in a plastic container but there was a large bluebottle feasting on one of the cakes in the cabinet so I made sure I didn't choose that one.A very disappointing and embarrassing meal as we had mentioned to our family how good it was last year. The bill came to around £40. I couldn't bring myself to leave a tip as it was certainly not good value for money.I always think that when you see a notice on the bar saying 'staff wanted' its a bad sign ... and so it proved!

We went to this restaurant with family and friends for a special occasion. There were 9 of us. We were booked in for 1.30 but we arrived early so asked if we could eat a little earlier as 4 of the party had a long journey directly afterwards. We were told this was not a problem. We weren't shown to our table. The waitress who was very young (as were they all) just vaguely waved to where our table was. The tables were collapsable ones and were laid with very cheap paper cloths. A round table would have been much nicer as there were a lot of us but this was 2 tables shoved together so the people sitting at the ends couldn't talk to each other without shouting. We sat there for a good half hour and not one waitress came to see us, to tell us to go up to the carvery when we were ready or ask if we would like any more drinks. We eventually went up of our own accord to get our dinner. We then had to wait a further 10 minutes before anyone came to carve us some meat. Again one of the very young waitresses who had absolutely no idea how to carve meat. Once we had our meat we moved down to the vegetables. The cauliflower was so over cooked it had gone brown at the bottom of the dish. The roast potatoes were also extremely over cooked to the point where there was very little potato left in the middle, the stuffing was disgusting and when we came to eat, the beef was grossly over cooked. One of the party was vegetarian and ordered soup. She had to wait ages before this was served to her. Once we finished eating, again it was an absolute age before the plates were removed in fact we'd gone to choose our desserts with the plates still on the table. We ordered dessert, one person asked for custard with her tart. We had all finished eating before she was eventually served her dessert after one of us going to ask where it was, only to be told 'oh sorry, we forgot'. All in all a very disappointing meal. We will definitely not be returning to this restaurant and we certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I wish I had read the reviews before I went to the Queens Head. Firstly the high chair was filthy and we had to spend five minutes cleaning it down. Two draught beers not available so had glass of lemonade instead but thought the food would be fine as I have had Sunday lunches before. This was a big mistake. The beef was fine but the pork was under done and the crackling was soft and rubbery. The cabbage, sprouts and carrots were under cooked and bordered on being raw. One of our party returned the plated meal to be micro waved as it was tepid at best.We were all tempted to do the same but thought it best to eat up and get out.Lesson learned.Even though you have visited before always check Trip Advisor as things do change, in this case very much for the worse

We went to the Queens Head for a birthday meal with 9 of us. We had prebooked. We ordered the carvery and went to collect the meals. The meat was in the process of being replaced as it had almost ran out. The old meat was dry and overcooked and the replacement overdone. The vegetables were worse. Most were dried up and hard and looked like they had been left under the hot lamps for most of the day. Was disappointed as in the past the standard has been far better

We called in on the off chance Sunday lunchtime. If you want to go in would recommend booking as all the tables were reserved except one, although none had "reserved" signs on them and the girl behind the bar didn't know what was what but I suspect she was new.You can't open a tab which was a minor frustration so you have to pay in advance. The food on the carvery was nice and there was a good choice of vegetables that were nicely seasoned. We were there at 1200 so everything was fresh. The only thing that would prevent me from returning was unfortunately the other customers - it was like watching animals! Overfilling of plates and wasting most of it. Just pure greed!

An impromptu lunchtime stop at what appears to be a pleasant 'country pub'. A couple of good 'real ales' on tap. Not a carvery fan so I went for a baguette and chips and other half the lunchtime special £7.95 fish & chips (inc dessert - which we didn't bother with, but no offer of a deduction!). Food, which took a little while to materialise was nothing more or less than you would expect. As it was a warm day we chose to eat outside which looked in need of a little care and attention. Not a bad experience but with a little more attention to detail it could have been so much better.

We meet friends on Friday 27th May 2016, we know that it is not a waitress service restaurant, but as there was only one other table occupied, the staff could have maybe asked it we wanted more drinks or a pudding, we had to return the steak as they were very rare not medium as ordered, unfortunately when returned the chips had gone cold on the plate. At 9.30 the staff made it very obvious that they wanted to close, the carvery was cleared away, which was fine, but after it had been cleaned a female member of staff, used it to put her handbag on and fiddle with her phone, not very hygienic, the staff were not very happy when we ordered a coffee. My main concern was the amount of large cooked joints and vegables that were left, they had obviously miscalculated what they needed, I hope it is not reheated the next day. Will not be returning, and definitely would not recommend it.

we went there for a family meal. we were the only people in the pub. so you would not think we would have to wait 40 minute's to get our starts. we spent that time killing ants on the table. There were 18 of us then they came saying that they were out of the things we had order. when it did come the Garlic bread was so garlicy it was inedible. creamy garlic mushrooms were coved in milk soggy bread. The stacks were bleeding on the plate although we had asked for well done, the carvery vegetable's were coved in garlic as well. when we told the whiter my son in law had found grass in his gravy. he replied o poo but not quit like that we are not allowed to say what he did say . no sorry or any kind of sorry or would you like a refund

We have eaten here many times in the past and always had good meals, but not this time. Ordered homemade burger which I have had a few times before and was always good, this time I was served a terrible quality bought burger on a soggy crusty roll and floppy under cooked bacon. Complained and was given steak and ale pie, by the time this arrived my chips were cold so had to ask for chips to be warmed, they were taken away, a new warm bowl of chips presented but no replacement salad. The pie was as bad if not worse than the burger, it was dry, no taste and looked like it had been made with left over sliced beef, carrots and peas from the carvery. Didn't eat it and we refused to pay for it but ended up paying for the chips as I did manage those. Husband had carvery which was ok. This is the worst meal and experience we have had in a long time, not sure where the good chef went to but this poor quality is not doing you any favours.

Undeniably a very good carvers for many. Plenty of choices on meat, veggies and sides. It is very easy for you eyes to be bigger than your belly at this place. The desserts were very reasonably priced and the portion size was ginormous.Negative points... No veggie option was offered for vegetarians, which was a disappointment. A female member of staff was extremely curt and certainly not the friendliest person . When I asked for a can of Diet Coke, (of which there were many), I was told that only draft coke was available and cans were for takeaway food only. Ridiculous, I thought and even pointed out how much they could charge for a proper coke rather than the watery sugary draft rubbish. But the barmaid would not budge. Instead I had a soda water.Lots of pros and cons. The cons, I'm sure are things that could be easily rectified.

We visited today, 28/02/2016, were met by a very surly female member of staff behind the bar - manager perhaps?? - although you wouldn't think it. She might have been the previous owner/manager as I overheard her mention to a customer that the pub used to be hers. However she certainly needed to revisit the 'hospitality school of charm' whoever she was. Order taking was painful in that tabs cannot be opened for customers as so many people walk out without paying - which stunned me at first but after today I could see why they might! The place was almost empty - just the 4 tables with a total of 12 diners at max. So, if you visit, take cash or be prepared to waste time paying for everything at the point of sale - allowing you leave your semi warm plate of food to chill whilst you wait at the bar for drinks etc. Is this antiquated - I thought we lived in the 21st century with digital technology??? The carvery 'looked' good but the only two things missing were - taste and warmth. The meat was very, very dry - we both had turkey and pork. My guest was physically ill, at the restaurant, by eating her lunch as the sprouts tasted truly vile and undercooked. We both left most of the meal and took it home for the cat. The young waitress was pleasant but, instead of asking if everything was ok as we had left so much, she simply asked if we wanted anything else! Extra training perhaps?? Needless to say we did not have anything else there. And neither will we be returning. On a positive note - the condiments were nice! First and last trip for us. Very disappointed. Glad I did not risk it for Mothers Day!

A fascinating pub that we were told was once owned by Henry VIII and given to Catherine of Aragon on their divorce. Then owned by Magdalene College Oxford for hundreds of years. It’s certainly old with flagstone floors, lots of panelling and a no longer accessible secret passageway to the church across the road. Top that with decent beers, a short freshly cooked menu and friendly service
