Friendly staff, very nice food and very good value for money Went as a larger group as a family not knowing the pub only recently moving to barwell, no issues and definitely going again

We've been a few times as the food is very good. Service is quick and the staff are friendly. 100% recommend the burgers! Shout out for the garlic crumpet bites too - these are delicious! The menu is varied for a small pub and prices are very reasonable. It's even dog friendly. The bonus for us - it's within walking distance. :)

An appetiter, to say the least! Drop in with a few friends and enjoy the food on your pallet, value for money and a nice portion. Try and book if you can though do drop ins so no worries.

Stopped by for Sunday dinner with the mrs, food was lovely and the pub was very well kept. Atmosphere was very apt for a Sunday though I’m told it can get a bit more noisy on the weekend if that’s your cup of tea , will definitely stop by again and make sure to keep booking in for the roast on Sunday !

Had a fantastic meal from the xmas menu. The whole 3 courses were excellent, the traditional turkey meal with superb roast potatoes and fluffy yorkshire pudding was beautiful. There were 5 of us and there was another party in of 20 and all the food arrived together and was piping hot ... highly recommend a visit to this warm and friendly traditional pub 👍.

This is a very traditional looking pub, no fancy touches at all. The menu has plenty to choose from, with good vegetarian options. We enjoyed gammon, ham, fish and chips and steak pie. The chips were very good and the fresh vegetables well cooked. Very good value for money with main courses from just below £6.

This place has fast become my regular place to meet with friends and have lunch. Not only are the staff welcoming and friendly but they are also very accommodating to customers needs. I've had the pleasure of trying many dishes that are available on the menu and honestly can't pick fault with any of them. I'm quite a picky eater, but the fact that it's all freshly made and the fact that there is no fat on the meat really makes a difference. The prices are very good and the portion sizes are quite big too. It's now my favourite place for lunch.

This is a really old pub, needs a few bob spending on it but it is a good local especially for blokes. The beer is reasonable but it is the food that makes it. Home cooked good helpings all for a fiver. Every time i'm in Barwell i walk up with my son in law for a couple of pints of Pedigree and a nice lunch.

This has now become somewhat of a regular haunt after discovering it with a friend when I wanted to drink and not to drive. The homemade soup starter is always delicious, and the main meals all very generous. I love the fact they allow you to run up a tab and pay it all at the end, although this leads to more drinks being consumed! It has a generous car park, and the pool table is only 50p. It is a very traditional rustic pub, and dogs are welcomed. The lady that brings out the cutlery always has a smile on her face and takes time out to talk to you. They also have something different on the back of the menu, where although priced slightly higher than the rest of the menu, really does offer a change. In conclusion, you will struggle to find a better olde world pub with food as good as this in the area.

First time visiting The Queens Head in Barwell and initially I was impressed when my friend said they would happily accommodate her two gluten free children however on entering I found the gentleman behind the bar very unfriendly and not particularly accommodating and reluctant to take the children's food order, repeatedly stating that it would be a very long wait, when pressed on how long that wait would be he stated it would be around 45-60minutes which turned out to be 25 minutes his attitude presented as very negative and abrupt almost as we were causing him a a nuisance! As we were happy to wait this long we proceeded to order a bottle of prosecco ,to our request he responded with ' that he had prosecco but he didn't know how much it was' only when asked,was he willing to find out how much they were! Again making us feel as though we were asking too much of him!! After being happy with the price of the prosecco we ordered a bottle only to be served an un chilled bottle in two red wine glasses !!! To add to all of the above the children's meals came out wrong and when we drew this to the attention of the waitress she shrugged her shoulders and said 'Well this is the order that came through to me ' Offering no apology or rectification !! All in all this was a very poor experience never to be repeated again !!!

Went on bonfire night 2016 ,it was a little quite but the locals were on song .Looked at the menu and could not believe the prices . I thought they were so cheap it would be really skinny with the portions but NO NO NO NO the food was absolutely fabulous. There was Cornish lemon sole on for £5.99,hunters chicken for £4.99 I had hunters chicken as Bernard Matthews would say bootiful. .The staff was very good brought out the food very hot which is very unusual for catering places, did not have to send any thing back . Will go back again and I hope this pub will go strength to strength

Always great atmosphere in the Queens, with music and laughter.It's nice as there a little rooms around the pub so you don't have to be sitting in amongst the large groups. Staff are lovely, always so jolly and the food is out of this world. For the prices they charge and the quality of the food there really is no point in cooking some nights.

Been in lots of time food good and the Cornish pasties are the best out side of Cornwall, all home made, but the staff I'm not sure it works the serving staff food and bar staff good, but together sorry it does not work, I'm sorry to say the landlord blows hot and cold good some times then other times not sure he won't you there, food good price landlady chef great. great pub in a great village .

Pit stop for us walkers on a surprisingly pleasant amble on the south western part of the Leicestershire Round on a mild November day. Lovely old building, full of character, inside very much a throw back to the time when inns were unequivocally the beating heart of the community - busy and totally dedicated to the serious business of drinking and socialising. Excellent Marston ales on draft, lovely basic pub grub, beautifully cooked and presented (and ridiculously inexpensive). Absolutely top notch from the welcome to the farewell - we'll definitely be back. My only quibble was the pooch in the party got even better treatment than we did - he ate for free!

this pub is the best pub I have been in for a while. the pub has been left alone with all the little snug rooms. the staff are all friendly nothing is to much trouble the food is beautiful just like home made food should be there's no microwave food in this pub it's all fresh and its so cheap you couldn't get it any where else. they have party's for children and don't mind them coming into the pub. if you want a nice home made meal go there.

If your looking for a pub with character then this is the place for you.The staff are welcoming and polite the pub itself hasn't been 'knocked about' like a lot of pubs so keeping its oldie worldie look about it.The real ale is a pleasure is to drink and reasonably priced too , as for the food......WELL if your a homemade kind of person then The Queens is a must do on your bucket list from homemade burgers to Cornish pasties ( pastry that just melts in your mouth) and the landladies specials are always something to try ( my fave is the liver & bacon) One word of warning if your thinking of Sunday lunch there.......you MUST BOOK BOOK BOOK or you'll be very disappointed

Fantastic welcoming village local run by a lovely Cornish couple, Margaret and Adrian. Food is all home cooked, with a fantastic standard menu that has plenty of choice....regular specials, burger of the week as well regular food challenges (think Man Vs. Food!), and wow, the Cornish pastries really are the best I have ever tasted....all at prices, quality and quantity that you really can't beat. All on tap beers are perfectly kept, and also at prices that can't be beaten. Very kiddie and doggie friendly, this pub is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. As a point of interest, The Queens Head is a grade 2 listed building and is second oldest building in Barwell, after the local church, St Marys. The building dates back to the 17th century.
