We dropped in here mid-walk and were blown away by the warm welcome - we have already planned our next visit! Had a great pint there too (Adnams Sea Fog) and drank it outside in the lovely beer garden - what more could you want?

My husband and I visited the Queen for lunch. We were with our baby son in his buggy, the restaurant was buggy friendly and great to visit as a family. We had really great service and absolutely loved our food, would highly recommend the beef pie. This is a fantastic place to visit if you want great quality British classics, good portion sizes too. If we are nearby again we would not hesitate to revisit the Queen - it was just fab!

Visited today for a early dinner and left having a great meal and drinks in the sun. The service was attentive, particular shout out to the young guy who served us today. He was super busy but checked in and made sure you felt like someone was on hand to serve you. Nothing too much. The spanakopita was delicious and presented lovely. My other half had the burger and enjoyed it. Lovely little farm shop inside too. Thanks again.

Nice looking pub inside and out. We booked (telephoned at 6:15pm) table for 4 @ 7:30pm on a Saturday. What a shame we weren’t informed beforehand that HALF the mains were not available - no steak, pies, burgers. They had not had a delivery of beef apparently. Only one of these options was replaced with an alternative making the short menu even more limited. Whilst we pondered what then to have to eat we ordered our drinks, Guinness please - oh sorry no Guinness today either. Food was good quality and tasty, HOWEVER for the Pork belly (£18) which was nice, the gravy/jus was practically nonexistent (had to ask for more), no apple sauce served with it (had to request it), 3 roast pots, 1 stick of sweet potato, cabbage was cold, 1 stick parsnip was still hard and undercooked. My son ordered the haddock and chips, just 7 of them! Desserts are also small and @ £8 each. This place can’t decide if it’s a pub or a restaurant. I’d say it’s a pub with a small limited menu (regardless of the issue with the beef) and pub prices for some dishes but overpriced for others. Oh and they allow dogs in the restaurant not just the bar/pub area - urgh. They clearly weren’t prepared for a busy Saturday service and as others were still coming in as we were leaving I can only assume they would have been equally disappointed.

Welcomed as we arrived (we are regulars but still) and taken to our reserved table. Fantastic service throughout. Lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy the sun with outdoor dining. What has really led me to leave this review was the menu choices. We had some table bread, I think it's homemade, it was totally yummy. But anyway, the menu choices were fantastic, there was a Sunday roast option for your traditionalists, fish n chips for your near seaside experience and then 3, yes 3 vege or vegan options. A delicious katsu curry, a wellington and a burger option. Our family is a range of meat eaters all the way to pure vegans and it was just fantastic to have all tastes and desires catered for. The kids enjoyed an eclectic mix of chips (triple cooked, french, sweet potato) and everyone's meal without exception was outstanding. Well done guys. And fantastic service, smiles, happy faces.

Somebody had mentioned this place but it took us a little while to get around to visiting. It really was a surprise treat. The concept of the place, a village shop, with kitchen garden and a great outdoor space that is very welcoming to pets as well as customers made our day. On top of that the food was delicious, none of our group of five could fault a thing and think we are quite picky usually! It is a perfect place to pass a few hours in the sun with family or friends with great beer and food to match. As its a healthy walk there and back from ours, I don't doubt we'll be back there again and again this Summer, our new favourite pub!

Dined here with nine of us recently for a family occasion. Beautiful setting, excellent, efficient, friendly service, high quality food, I can’t praise it highly enough. Quite a limited menu but still something for everyone in our party including a vegetarian. Everyone in our party was keen to return very soon so I think that’s an indication of the standard. Not cheap to be fair, but all dishes priced acceptably given the overall quality. Highly recommend.

Just dropped by to see if they could fit us in because it was a beautiful sunny Suffolk day. The beer garden was really busy and there were a lot of staff buzzing around. We were told they were fully booked but could fit us in about an hour later. We took the dog for a walk and that was perfect because it’s such a beautiful area. Sam (one of the managers) recognised us straightaway when we returned to the pub, and after a clean of the table we were seated. The staff were all so lovely and food delicious. The dog was also looked after with fresh water and a bonio. We will be going back again soon.

Has taken me a while to write my review as over these past few months restaurants have been struggling to stay a float but I decided that we all pay hard earned money for our meals and do deserve good food. The outside of The Queen is very pretty, beautiful gardens all lit up with fairy lights. Was too cold to sit out that evening. The restaurant was pretty quiet and they sat us well social distanced in a corner table.I was facing the gardens which I would have loved if it had not been the huge cobweb on the window above my mum which was thick with dead spiders and flies. This is not what you want to see whilst eating dinner. The my family all ordered soup and I ordered a meze board. Their soup came up cold and my meze had a few of the dishes literally swimming in oil. The soups were sent back and I tried to eat round the oil which wasn't easy especially with the cobweb and insects straight in front of me.I couldn't leave it any longer, went to the desk at the front and told them, that my family did not enjoy the soup, which was totally true, my meze was floating and oil and about what was facing me whilst trying to eat.We ordered our main course, my family weer quite happy with theirs but my vegan dish was again just not good. I sent this back too.We didn't even stay for dessert, just wanted to get out.Have restaurants just given up trying to cook good food in this pandemic, yes I have had some delicious meals but have had too many bad meals too

Food was good as always - though I couldn't detect any hint of the lemongrass supposed to feature in the (otherwise very tasty) hake dish. Service was a bit slow, but waiters were friendly and apologetic, and explained that they were more than usually over-stretched. We did feel more could have been done re Covid-proofing though (especially as we were there with my 80-year old mother). Our table location near the front door meant that one member of our party was less than a metre away from every customer entering the pub. Plus there appeared no attempt by the waiter to bring drinks and plates on a tray and we then help ourselves. We have seen these measures in use in other restaurants and they don't take much but they do increase confidence in the seriousness with which Covid prevention is taken. Meanwhile, as the 2nd lockdown looms we wish you all the best for getting through it - & look forward to returning on the other side...

The service was attentive and quickly we had drinks and menus. We had a starter of Mackerel pate served on a sourdough biscuit with a croquet of mackerel My partner had Mushroom risotto and I had Guinea Fowl. All the mains and starter were excellent. Fancied a lunch out with my pops today, but had no idea where to go, so literally put a pin in the map and the Queen was the closest.Gave them a call to see if they had space and booked a table. We were informed the menu was limited due to after New Year Day, which was fine. When we arrived, only a cauliflower curry was available for this finicky person (me), but the very very kindly gave me a Veggie Wellington which I think must have been on the Christmas menu. We waited about 35 mins for our food to arrived, but we were well informed it would take this long as the wellington had to be cooked. Not an issue at all. Whilst we waited there were magazines to read whilst having a glass of wine if you like or simply chatting to your acquaintances about Christmas, decor painting on the wall etc. When the meal arrived it was very nice, the wellington for me though had large lumps of butternut squash in, which im not partial to, but i left these and ate the beetroot. The Queen accommodated our requirements beautifully, dads haddock and chips he very much enjoyed and woofed the hole lot. Its not one of the best meals ive ever had hence not 5, but I have to say it was extremely enjoyable and we will be back when they have a full menu on in the summer time.I think we will need to book well in advance though, because even for a Thursday "quiet" lunch time for most this place started to fill up at about 1.00.Really worth a visit, book first and look forward to a full menu.

We felt the portions especially the starters were extremely small (laughable really) and had to ask for bread! The mains varied quite a lot in portion size! Lamb cutlets, only two small cutlets on the plate, same with the fish dishes, small portions also! We eat out regularly at good restaurants and felt the cost of the meal was way overpriced for the amount of food we received on our plates!! So unfortunately we will not return or recommend unless that person has a small appetite!!

Last roast here 18 months ago was excellent so we were looking forward to returning last Sunday but left so disappointed. Tough beef, no hint of pink and not sure why but they gave you one enormous roast potato size of a jacket potato - hard and undercooked in middle. Definitely lacking lots of crunch! All 3 of us left them having nibbled at outside bits. I did mention this to friendly waiter but was told they were all done this way. Not a cheap lunch venue and left very underwhelmed. I had an awful meal here Christmas 2017 but we heard that it had improved so tried again. This time my husband's food was fine but my son and I had the Cheeseburgers which were over-cooked and the cheese almost no existant having been cooked to vanishing point. But everybody has a bad day so we gave it one more chance. We both had the wraps as these had been fine on our previous visit, Mistake. I orderd the crispy beef wraps. I was presented with a plate of wraps not properly wrapped (i.e. not turned in at the bottom) full of bits of blackened meat - the only taste was charcoal. It was inedible . I mentioned this (I hate complaining but this was so bad I thought I had to) the lady I spoke to said she would tell the kitchen,,,there was no apology or offer of something else to eat ..I went home and got some lunch. We are very disappointed - living locally we had hopes of somewhere good to go as the venue is lovely. Wont be going again and cant say I would recommend to friends.

Food good but pricey and some main course portions on the mean side, such as the duck breast. Other local gourmet pubs such as Kingsdon Inn and Firehouse have similar standards of food but are better value.

Very good experience. My beef wasn’t great but my husband said his was good so a bit of inconsistency. Overall very good

This pub was recommended to us by friends and didn't disappoint. Delicious Sunday lunch in a quiet and relaxed setting. Lovely, attentive service. We ordered the roast chicken to share and there was enough for 3 hungry eaters. Very succulent and moist. Sadly didn't have any room left for the puddings which all looked very promising. The only downside was the parking which is quite limited. We had to squeeze our car into the hedge a few metres down the road.

We ate lunch here, had a buffet supper for New Year’s Eve and had breakfast. All meals were excellent and priced appropriately. Fresh local ingredients used very well and prepared imaginatively. Staff are delightful and committed to very good customer relations. Highly recommend for great eating, great drinking and for its stunning location. Can’t wait to go back!

Food was great but not enough of it. Had to raid the fridge when we got home, never a good sign.<br />Excellent service though and lovely environment.

We went for a Sunday Roast. The village pub looked the part from the outside but inside it was totally lacking in atmosphere. One other table was occupied, but it was in a distant alcove and all we could see was the backs of heads. The food and service were okay, but there are plenty of other pubs in this area offering better food and ambience.

Some of the best food for miles around and the service is always lovely. There were a couple of flies buzzing around so I've knocked a star or two off 'Ambience' for that. (Owners - please do something about flies when they appear.) There was a great 80's soundtrack in the background but my personal preference is not to have music while dining.

Had a very good lamb dish on the back patio. I see this place as Saxmundham’s biggest attraction.

Friendly local pub with good range of beers and spirits at reasonable prices. Multiple seating areas. Plenty of tv screens for sports events. Like the range of small plates on offer , and good value offer of 5 for £22. Good to see that the roast potatoes on the Sunday roast are served with a crunchy outside, so often a failure in many establishments. Wide range of dishes and food specials. Can get very busy and loud during sporting events.
