Visited on 3 separate occasions and had breakfast. Good menu selections and in every case the food was cooked to a high standard and was piping hot when it came. Also popped in for coffee and cake - some great selections available if you like a slice of cake. A very popular quayside cafe open from breakfast but closes around 4pm’ish

The quay cafe is a wonderful place for a spot of lunch. Amazing views as it’s right on the sea front. The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly. The younger manager was so bubbly and very chatty when she brought our food over. Altogether our experience was great and we definitely will be returning.

Dog-friendly cafe on the Quay with plenty of food options for the super hungry visitor or the dainty 'fussy-eater'. We had a fab breakfast in this wonderful cafe, which gets busy (be warned). The staff were jolly and bubbly (even) at 8 am and made us feel very welcome, even when we re-arranged the furniture to suit ourselves. The food was well cooked and the whole atmosphere was clean, fresh and welcoming. Thank you.

I called in here with my daughter and granddaughter for a treat breakfast from them, I ordered an americano coffee with hot milk on the side, when it came, I went to pour the milk in and just a lump of froth fell into my coffee, I went and asked if I could have a top up of milk and was told it would be 30p, I explained that the “”milk” I had was in fact was froth, but was again told it would be 30p. This was the manageress/ owner. We regularly visit here with our family as they have a large table that accommodates the 20 of us, but if 30p is more important to them than looking after their customers, then I’m afraid we will never set foot in there again. Their loss is THE DELI ON THE QUAY next doors gain. Lovely service and great food.

Having, thankfully, not checked in for breakfast at the hotel (it looked very bland and expensive), I ventured along to this café for a great breakfast of 'smashed' avocado with poached eggs on granary toast and a large cup of coffee. The service was good, and the food was excellent, albeit, I think, that they 'forgot' to 'smash' the avocado They are 'forgiven'

I visited this café on Saturday with my partner and a friend for some brunch. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who explained the system of ordering and invited us to take a seat wherever we liked. We sat outside with a gorgeous view of the quay and even had blankets incase we got chilly. The chairs were really comfortable and made for a relaxing visit. The menu was broad and had lots of different options for both smaller and larger appetites. We ordered 2 of the eggs Benedict and one full plate breakfast, which were all delicious and good value for money given the location of the café right on the quay. The only downside to our visit was a long wait for our coffees, which arrived after our breakfasts were served. Having said this, it was a busy little establishment and the staff were apologetic for the delay, which was nice. The cakes inside looked absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately we were too full from our brunch to try them this time, so we will definitely be back for a coffee and some cake soon. Thank you!

I visited here with my friend and little boy for lunch. Food was lovely although a little over priced. They had some things in place to ensure it was covid safe such as the one way system, different doors to enter and exit by, and most tables distanced. Was surprised though that we had to go and order at the the counter as this meant going to join a queue which in a small space was hard to distance. Table service would have made this much better like most other places are doing to be even safer.

Arrived sat down and they have one way in and in same way out. Eating in was ordered in same quay as takeaway so takes ages to order and you mix with too many people. Other restaurants are doing table service to keep you safe. They have changed nothing. Food wise, although my scrambled egg on toast was lovely it cost £5.20 and included one piece of toast. One friend had eggs benedict which she said was nice. My other friend had soggy toast and poached eggs and this was snatched my a staff member and swapped for another soggy toast. Food is under generous here for the price. Ordered 3 seperate pots of tea for £6 got one pot and three cups. So £2 each and we got one dainty cup of tea. Lots of people customer wise and it didnt feel covid friendly. Lots of staff seemingly walking around doing not much. Yoi cant just go for lunch when working as takes too long.

Went with a colleague for breakfast, arrived at 9.30am. Sat inside the Cafe, there was a piece of paper on the table with the name and contact details of the previous diners from 9.00am - 9.30am which obviously hadn't been collected by waiting staff, as from a gust of wind it landed on the floor. We were not asked for that information ourselves., nor it appears were other diners coming into the Cafe. The only protection from the virus provided it would seem was hand sanitizer positioned near the front of the Cafe and some of the waiting staff wore masks, but not all of them. Our table was cleared of the previous occupants plates etc., but we still had to ask for the table to be wiped clean. We promptly ordered our breakfast and paid for it up front as required. We ordered two cappuccinos which were delivered to our table. After 30 minutes or more we noted that other table occupants who arrived after us were getting their food, we duly asked a waitress who returned almost immediately with our order of a full English and Eggs Benedict. The full English was hot, but sadly the Eggs Benedict was not, nor was the toast that accompanied it. With this we called the waitress over and she took the Eggs Benedict away and promptly returned almost immediately with a hot fresh order; however she had duly taken the cutlery away and my colleague asked for some new ones. We waited, and waited and then saw the same waitress head for the toilets, my colleague then proceeded to eat his Eggs Benedict with his spoon wiped after after using it in his cappuccino as no staff came near us., and he did not want me going up to chase them. Finally a staff member came over and we were able to request some cutlery for him to finish his meal. Overall this whole breakfast experience proved to be very disappointing, we are local people and the message is "Eat Out to Help Out" but sadly this establishment, albeit practically full both inside and outside proved to be a disappointment with both the quality of food and the level of service it provided, and in light of these establishments being closed for many months due to Covid-19 you would have thought that they would be providing diners and patrons with a much better service, and as a result we will no longer be supporting them in the future due to our bad experience.

We had decided to walk, via Baiter, to the quay.Usually when in Poole we use the high street and a favourite cafe there. However, for a change, we decided to have our coffee on the quayside as it was a beautiful day.We selected the Quay Cafe because of its position and the plentiful tables outside facing the water.I went up to the counter and was served by a pleasant gentleman.I ordered a latte for Jean and a double espresso macchiato for myself.I was surprised to be asked how I would like my macchiato? I explained that it was a double (size not strength) espresso topped with the froth from the boiled milk.I paid and was told to take a seat and the coffee would be served to our table. The coffees took rather a long time to arrive but the view was lovely. The latte turned out to be ok but the macchiato was a different matter. The coffee was in a cup and the milk froth in a jug alongside. This was, to me, unusual but, I thought, quite a good idea, as it is difficult to judge how much froth each individual likes.I added my sweetener and several spoons full of the froth. I then picked up the cup, by the rim, as I am used to doing. The cup was ice cold. Not just cold but freezing cold. Italian coffee machines are designed with a ventilated top where one stores the cups so that they are warmed by the rising excess steam. This is done so that the hot coffee does not suffer by coming into contact with a cold cup. Obviously the “barista” was unaware of this way of pre warming the cups. This cup felt as though it had come straight from a fridge!Needless to say the coffee had not fared well with this treatment and was also ”stone” cold.I took it back. The gentleman was not there so I explained carefully to the waitress and a lady who I presumed was the barista. They started afresh on my coffee.Soon a cup arrived. But no milk froth! I was getting a bit fed up by this time so told the girl not to bother and I would drink my double espresso as it was. Well, as it turned our, I would not!Firstly there was only a small puddle of coffee at the bottom of the cup, certainly not the double I had paid for. Secondly, as I picked up the cup I almost burnt my fingers as the cup was almost too hot to handle. It had obviously been filled with boiling water or, worse yet, microwaved. Strangely the coffee was still not very warm.I can safely say that this was the worst attempt at making and serving coffee I have ever come across in over 55 years of coffee drinking.I went to complain to the gentleman but he was nowhere to be found so we left in disgust. This review does get two stars simply because the staff I met were charming and tried to be helpful. However, the “barista” if in fact she is qualified as such, needs retraining. If she is not a qualified barista then they need to get one as soon as possible. Not at all impressed.Peter. :o(

My favourite haunt. Best place on the quay for a morning cuppa or lunch. Great options for breakfast, with reasonable prices.

We have visited twice recently and on both occasions both the service and food has been good. Dogs are allowed at certain tables. The entrance is flat and the cafe contains a disabled toilet.

What a find in Poole! The food was lovely however Scott who worked there went above and beyond helping us with local knowledge of attractions, bus routes and to top it all as we left he had taken the time to write everything down for us. He did all this while ensuring that all the other customers were well looked after, what a superstar! Also compliments to the chef as the food was delicious.Great place and we will definitely be back when we next visit Poole.

Our second visit and we thought it was excellent. There is a very good choice on the menu and the menu makes it easy to identify which dishes are suitable for Vegetarians, or which are gluten free. The place was reasonably busy, but service was friendly and efficient and the food was very good.

thought this place would be really special to have a cream tea. very disappointed, poor quality scones, same pots of cream and jam we get in Yorkshire but higher price

A nice interior and I liked the setees and comfy chairs. But why is tea £1.90 but a herbal tea £2.50? You haven't even got milk with the herbal tea. I asked for some honey to go in the fruit tea and was going to be charged an extra 70p. I also didn't like the catering tea cups, I want to drink my tea out of a nice cup. I noticed the coffee was served in a nicer cup but the coffee cup was too small for a decent cup of coffee, so won't return for coffee. The food menu was full of really boring catering food and the cakes on offer were unapetising bought in catering cakes.

Second visit for a coffee. Both times the flat white was weak / milky and absolutely no texture to the milk. Not a place for coffee lovers.

I ate here at lunchtime today with my wife, daughter and in laws. Although busy the service was friendly and quick with a massive choice on the menu at reasonable prices. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks and the bonus was having a few dog friendly tables inside. We all really enjoyed our visit and will be back next time we are in Poole.

I have to admit to not being a fan of the big coffee chains. The Quay cafe is definately not one; I think it is a husband and wife concern. Their coffee is always very good. Have also visited there for breakfast and lunch at various times. Recently had Christmas there as part of a fairly large group. As well as the food being good; the table was laid out nicely for Christmas, the food came out promptly and the staff were friendly and helpful.

With my wife we ordered 2 Americanos (1 white and 1 black) together with a slice of cake and a fruit scone and butter. Total cost £10. When the coffees and the slice of cake were brought to our table we realised that we had been charged 40p for a small jug of milk. The scone was not brought to us, this we queried with the waiter but he knew nothing about it. He went to find out. About 10 minutes later I went to the servery to inquire about my scone. I was told that it wouldnt be long. Another 10 minutes later I again inquired about the scone, it was still not ready so I asked for a refund for it. This was begrudgingly paid back.

On the route of the bus tour. Loved the sandwich, new creation, Emmentaler cheese, and a ‘fancy’ ham. I loved it. Great cappuccino. Lovely bakery and a must-visit when you are in Poole.

I visited this establishment recently, the food we had was good, I definitely recommend the burgers, definitely better than your average run of the mill pub or bar. The staff and other customers were friendly and welcoming. We all had a great evening and are going back for Sunday carvery 100 percent !! Roll on Sunday

Sadly this used to be a favourite cafe of ours, but no longer so. Visited with a friend for lunch. My friend ordered the pasta and it was nothing more than dried up mince with very little sauce, this had to be sent back. I ordered the Welsh rarebit, this was served on cheap sliced bread (didn’t used to be) and was very soggy and not very tasty. Felt the service was ok, but as busy felt rushed to leave. Such a shame as this used to be top notch food.
