The Quarterhouse in Lancaster

Some of the best and tastiest food I have eaten for a long time. A bit of a throwback in time, quiet and relaxing,excellent service,with smiling, friendly,well groomed staff. We had some nibbles and the small plate early bird. The food was locally sourced and outstanding. We will definitely return.

What a find. Stopped in Lancaster for a bite on our way north and came across this place. A small but eclectic brunch menu that was different to the usual. Excellent service with attention to detail and great value for money

Really interesting and delicious food. The chef is clearly creative! In a good way. The drinks menu was original and well matched to the food.

Myself and 3 others booked a table for 17.00 on the 29th of March. We promptly ordered our food and wine as we was attending the theatre, after having only been served a plate of bread in one and three quater hours we had to leave to attend the theatre hungry and disappointed. Cant comment on the quality of food as did not get any whilst watching other receive there food who came in after our party.

Cozy modern restaurant. The small plate concept works, particularly liked the sweet potatoes. Decent selection of craft beer and wine. Great vegan selection also.

Great brunch - busy restaurant but service was friendly and quick. We had 2 small kids with us and felt well catered for - extra high marks for having a changing table in the toilets! Recommend the seafood benedict

We visited on a Friday evening. Had six small plates in total. Bream was my favourite and Pork was also supet. Finished with cheese and affogato. Paid 111.- including three glasses of wine which we thought was good value for money.

Stunning food. A bit tapas-like with several small plates and could not fault one single plate, even down to the sweet potato fries which i didn't think could be that nice. Staff were super friendly, a good laugh and never once felt pressured or rushed, they were brilliant. Lovely interior and a romantic feel to it

Really disappointed this was our first visit, we booked online for brunch at 12pm, the place wasn’t over busy and we were in no rush. We ordered two breakfast and two teas. The drinks came straight away but no food, after 40 mins I asked if they could check on our food, the girl came back and said there was a table before us and we would be after that. I asked if there was a problem as we had only ordered breakfast and she said there was only one chef on. It didn’t look like we were getting any food soon so we asked for the bill, this still didn’t come so after another five minutes we left, not sure if I left enough money for the tea but had already wasted enough of my Sunday on this place. Won’t go back which is a shame

Wow thank you for a fantastic experience... Jack looked after us for the night and his attention to detail and awareness of his customers made the night a night to remember.. the food came out in good time was well presented and cooked to perfection... this made our trip from Scorton well worth while.

Great menu, friendly service and fair prices for the quality. Will 100% return. Would highly recommend the chorizo, black pudding and potato hash as well as the banana bread.

As a surprise for my brother’s significant birthday we treated him to the Quarterhouse’s recent seafood tasting evening and had a fantastic experience. The range of dishes over six courses was amazing and a real testimony to the chef’s talents. As the food arrived we were surprised by the range of flavours. Some of the seafood combinations were subtle and delicate in flavour and others were strong and quite spicy. We each had our favourites but were unanimous that everything we ate was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and the servers were both efficient and knowledgeable as they brought out each of the courses to our table. Special thanks must go to Jack who was responsible for selecting the wines to match with each of the courses. We look forward to enjoying another Quarterhouse tasting evening in the near future.

Fantastic food and ambiance. Being from Edinburgh, the White Horse is one of our favourite restaurants there. This restaurant very much reminds us of that place in terms of food quality and ambiance. Brilliant restaurant that is worth visiting whether for business or pleasure! Great food, fantastic staff.

My partner and I went for a late Christmas treat for ourselves and were not disappointed. Delicious from start to finish. Excellent service as always at The Quarterhouse. One issue perhaps was that it felt a little chilly in the restaurant. Well done to all concerned for great food and service.

The vegetarian tapas menu is delicious. They have do the most glorious desserts and scrumptious cocktails. The plus side is the allow dogs. :-)

Went on my birthday, food was amazing!, just one negative, they need to fix the main door to shut itself as people coming in and out were not closing it and a chilly draft kept coming in

lovely relaxing place & attentive pleasant staff. However each of our meals arrived cold. This was brought to the attention of the waitress, who apologised & took meals back to the chef. The meals came back several minutes later, but were still not sufficiently hot. Pity really as they looked so lovely.

Excellent range of tapas style dishes to share, great cheeseboard and my granddaughter particularly enjoyed the Affogato. Lovely ambience for an informal catch up over good food and wine.

Fabulous little restaurant, lovely menu, great food and service. We stay at the premier inn up the road when working in the area but prefer to use The Quarterhouse for our tea ! Tables are well spaced and the decor is fabulous, highly recommend

Excellent! I must say with utter conviction that I have had the best ciabata sandwich ever. A cashew blue cheese with romescu sauce, absolutely devine. We also bought some pies from the delicatessen that also belongs to the owners, they were delicious!!

Nice little restaurant and I particularly like their interesting use of wood in it's various forms. The menu has some interesting choices but we had already pre - decided on their charcuterie platter each. This was nicely presented on wood. I cannot fault the cooking...

What a lovely find - The Quarterhouse accommodated our large group with kindness and impeccable service. The food was fantastic (shout out to the delicious Cumberland sausage). I was too busy chatting to get photos of the food, unfortunately, but it was a great meal!

Went for lunch and ordered the cheese board, which was as dry as the Sahara. No chutney, jelly or relish in site. The "crackers" were just thick stale flat breads and the portions of cheese were pitiful. The parkin was nice though. The aubergine schnitzel...

Walked in as they were about to close for a couple of hours - wholly accomodated us. Best Coffee house with very tasty coffee. Delicious food , lovely people too makes 100% all the difference . Got to try the Portuguese custards .. Steaks perfectly...
