Cracking homely, local pub which is great for a few drinks and/or meal. Warm and friendly staff, nice, relaxed atmosphere. Serves good, homemade, tasty traditional pub grub with wide selection available and all reasonably priced. It’s nothing fancy but doesn’t try to be and that’s why we love it. It’s popular and often gets busy, even on some weeknights, so worth booking if you are going with a group or have in mind a particular time to go.

Gem of a pub with an old fashioned feel to it. There were a few drinkers as well as people eating food. We booked before we went which was just as well as I noticed only one free table when I got there. Friendly staff served top notch food. Highly recommend.

We visit this pub twice a week for a drink and a meal, all year round. I can honestly say, we have not had a bad meal once! When the landlord went on holiday, we tried various pubs in the surrounding areas and none were as cosy and welcoming as this one: and none could compare for food! There is so much choice, we ponder every time what to have and there is a choice of smaller meals if required and a kids menu, as well as the more elaborate menu on the board. There are plenty of desserts, all delicious, a range of ice creams and sorbets. All the other pubs we visited were with much more expensive or their menu's couldn't compete for delicious food and above all, choice! Also Excellent choice of wines and ales etc. Catering for parties and Christmas lunches Definitely Recommended!!

Friendly staff that greeted you on arrival, showed you to a seat and took your drinks order immediately, they cater for vegetarians, gluten free, small appetites and kids, we had our own favourite table most days, home cooked food at reasonable prices and something different on the specials Menu every day. I went for a Sunday roast today and have to say I was quite disappointed. The owner seemed very nice and the garden was pleasant. However, with the Sunday roast, only 2 small roast potatoes are provided. Im not a huge eater, but 2 small roast potatoes seems rather stingy. We asked for some extras and 4 further small potatoes arrived to share between the two of us. I was surprised to find that these were charged for on the bill, as a ‘jacket and butter’. I discussed this when paying and the owner said, well, that’s what everyone gets, you didn’t get less and said we must pay for the extras. Never have I been anywhere that has served such a small amount. Furthermore, the beef was more the type found in school dinners. There wasn’t a great variety of veg either (small spoonful of cabbage, sliced carrot and cauliflower cheese). The veg was already served on the plate, so my friend, who dislikes cauliflower cheese, had to try and get all the cheese sauce off her plate. So all in all, not somewhere I’d go back to.

Went to the Quarry Inn for a drink and a meal, the beer was great, staff were great but unfortunately the food let it down, I had steak it was overcooked and tough, my wife had a curry from the specials, it certainly was special, as it tasted nothing like a curry, the mango chutney was nice, if I had tasted it beforehand I would have sent it back.such a shame. We will return for drinks but it will be a long time before we eat there again.

Was staying in the village with friends. Popped in in a Sunday Evening and it was very busy. However we ordered and while we waited a while (understandable due to being busy) the food and service was amazing. The roast came with proper roast potatoes and 4 types of fresh veg. The beef and stilton pie tasted amazing and melted in your mouth. Would definitely recommend this pub but its advisable to book a table and be prepared to wait. It's well worth it.

Why have an eating table next to the front door? In fact why have eating table in a noisy front bar? We were buffeted from behind by over exuberant people whilst eating our meal & had to shout over the noise to have a conversation. The food was ok, it’s a plain menu which I would think has not changed for many years. The staff were friendly & efficient. All this being said I have attended a couple of parties in their back room & the buffet has been excellent

We met a friend here for lunch. The Quarry was our friends suggestion so we thought let’s do it. I have never been disappointed with the Quarry although I would say the food isn’t exceptional, it’s just your average pub grub served in a nice way. The prices are a little high for the type of food but always very tasty. It was unfortunate today that the owner was on his own which made the service a little slow but these things happen. In summary, if you want a traditional pub meal at a fair price then visit the Quarry.

Five of us for family evening, quality of food good, my ham was excellent and a good portion but I was shocked at the number of chips. My son had the chicken burger and had that grand sum of 12 chips, fortunately the burgers included a visit to the salad bar so I was fortunate that my grand daughter let me have hers which helped fill me up. Later on the next table of 2 had meals with twice the amount of chips. Portion sizes we have to accept but something was amiss with the discrepancies. Perhaps the fact one grand daughter had an extra of cheesy chips which was huge depleted the amount that had been cooked.

The Quarry inn is a firm favourite with our friend and it was her wish to enjoy our Christmas meal there this year. We had to pre book the meal and choose what we wanted from a very good selection. I had pork and my wife and friend had turkey which was served with roast potatoes and the usual Christmas vegetable selection. I really enjoyed my three course meal although the lady's thought the vegetables were a little hard and they therefore left most of them. My only comment would be that I thought the service was very slow between courses which, considering the pub was not overly busy and bearing in mind we had preordered all the courses, did let things down just a tad. However having said all that, the meal was very good value for money and the poor service would not put me off returning.

The wife thought she was owed an apology, she was ignored and in fact he turned his back to her how rude.We were not the only ones to leave. We were impressed by the excellent service on a very busy Thursday night. A wide choice on the menu (including 4 vegetarian dishes) means that there is something to suit everybody. The 'meals for a light appetite' are substantial and fantastic value. On Thursdays & Fridays fresh fish is available and can be poached, grilled or cooked in beer batter. I asked for my haddock to be grilled and served with parsley sauce, but it appeared to be poached; however, I didn't mind because it was cooked very nicely and served with plenty of butter sauce. Vegetables, chips and herby potatoes were all very nice too. From the good selection of puddings available we chose and shared the 'Banana Bliss', which was delicious. This is an old fashioned pub with very friendly and efficient staff and it is obviously well liked by the locals.

We went with friends for a family birthday to this delightful village pub and experienced a most enjoyable evening with superb food. What a great find this is. A very warm welcome from the landlord, a spotlessly clean and cosy pub with an extensive menu of excellent, well cooked and presented 'pub grub', and plenty of it too, all excellent value for money. Polite and friendly service, nothing was too much trouble and when the restaurant was very busy the landlord himself helped his staff with taking orders and clearing the table. They even lit candles and sang happy birthday when the dessert was served even though we hadn't specifically said it was a birthday celebration. It's been a while since a landlord has taken so much trouble with keeping his customers feeling special. Thankyou. We will definitely be making this a regular place to visit.

We used to be frequent visitors of the Quarry Inn but until last week we hadn't been back for many years. We meet with a friend of ours every month and she suggested this inn so we duly went along with the idea. The inn was extremely busy, catering for a very large wake, but this didn't affect the service we received or the quality of the food. I thought the quality of the food was extremely good as was the pleasantness of the owners and the pub atmosphere

Umm, what's happened to the quality of food presented here since the refurbishment?? My son and I decided to have burgers as mains tonight... Basically some meat in a bun is what we got with little wilted lettuce and the most thinly sliced end of a tomato...a thimble full of sauce... a tiny bit of coleslaw and chips in a bowl with overcooked onion rings...Served on a wooden platter...Not sure what part of all of this constitutes charging nearly £10 per burger... I did complain and got a reduction, but that 's not really my point as I made clear... Management must wake up here please...

My wife and I have been here twice recently, once with more family with 2 children, and have not been disappointed with anything, unlike some reviewers. The food is great, and tastes lovely, with a large varied menu for lunchtime and it was quite crowded even then. There is more seating behind the bar, and a children's play area, and the staff were very friendly. I hope people with give this place a chance despite some bad reviews- we liked it.

This pub has so much potential to be an amazing pub, it's in a great location with a good amount of seating both indoor and out. However this is where it ends. The food lacks flavorful, it comes outs a little to quickly to suggest anything is far from fresh, the lasagna which I had, was obliviously microwaved as the cheese sauce was stodgy. The vegetarian options are poor. False descriptions - chocolate cheese cake came out as vanilla with a stale flake on top! The staff seem to lack motivation and skill in carrying plates as one young girl very nearly dropped my friends ice cream on her lap. This pub seriously needs to rethink its menu, its training and maybe then will I think about popping in again!

As part of a large party in the function room on a Sunday lunchtime it was apparent that either the kitchen could not keep with a full bar and a full function room at the same time or that there were insufficient waiting staff. Everyone in the party had made their meal selection weeks beforehand. After a long wait the main course arrived with overcooked beef and roast potatoes, and an inedible burnt rubbery flattened Yorkshire pudding (more like a frisby) . The pate starter could have been served with toast rather than crumbly dry oaty biscuits. The fruit crumble and ice cream was good, as was the cheese board

I've been here numerous times with my family and a few times on my own, as we used to live in the village. David is the affable Landlord/Proprietor and he runs a tight ship, in a good way. The place is comfortable warm and clean with a good pub menu lunchtimes and evenings. Additional choices are Available via the ever changing specials board. Everything available is good value for money, and one of the things I like most about this pub is that the food is consistently nice quality. There is a good range of beers lagers and other drinks on draught, as well as a wine list if you like to quaff a few glasses with your meal like I do. The staff are friendly and efficient and the place has a good sociable atmosphere without being too noisy. So a good place to bring your family for lunch or dinner, a place to treat your oldies on a spacial occasion, or even just somewhere to sneak off to when nobody's looking and have a few swifties on the quiet!! - Highly recommended!

We've previously had our christmas meals at The Quarry but for the last couple of years have gone elsewhere. This year we came back & it was fantastic. We had a party of 32 & the food was ready within 15 minutes of us getting there. It came out on time & all at once which was nice for a change instead of people finishing their meals before the last orders came out. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly making our meal even more enjoyable. It was a great atmosphere to be in & they catered to us with top customer service. The food was lovely & all dishes came out nice & hot. Enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend a party to have their meal at The Quarry. Will definitely be visiting there again in the near future.

Fantastic christmas meal at the Quarry last year. Also tried numerous lunchtime meals on a Sunday and have to say they are freshly cooked and taste great taste. Plenty of space to take the children, especially in summer with the beer garden and playhouse to amuse the kids.

On the Quarry Inn website it says that dinner is served from 7pm, so I booked a table for 7pm, but when I got there at about 10 minutes to, the place was in darkness. The lights went on, and the door opened at 7pm. As far as I can see, there were no lights on in the kitchen before that, so really, the kitchen staff had to start switching things on, preparing etc actually at 7. Consequently, although we had ordered by about 7.20. we weren't served until 8.10pm. The pub was full, so it may be that it was short-staffed and with more people wanting to eat than usual, so we could give them the benefit of the doubt and think it might not always be so slow. The menu, esp the veggie options, sounded interesting and original, but personally, I found the food a little disappointing when it finally got to us. We didn't dare risk ordering a dessert in case it took ages to get to us.

I genuinely have to applaud the staff. This chain has a particular modus operandi, which is a challenge in itself. Being both affordable and hospitable to the masses in tandem is no easy task. The Cerdic management can be commended on those it employs, namely those that stand up rigorously to the extreme varied volumetric patron numbers and the pressures that this produces, especially given the size of the establishment. It is not for me when the 'masses frequent on their evening of well deserved leisure' but outside these times, it serves my purpose.

Best gammon that me and the missus has ever had. Nice buttery roasties and plenty of vegetable options. Plenty of seating and car parking spaces. Nice large outside area for summer time food and drink. Staff were friendly and reasonably priced food. Downside was that the carpets needed a really good clean, but I'm sure that this will be seen too in the not too distant future.

Lovey village pub, very dog friendly! Food was great value for money and extremely tasty! Very relaxed atmosphere and felt very welcome. It also had Harry’s rhubarb cider on table which was a bonus, it went down a treat!

The Lord Nelson is our local so an easy choice for a family get-together to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. We had a table for 20 and took over the skittle alley which doubles as a function room. Everyone attending had a great time and the pub and staff received lots of compliments. They are all extremely friendly and professional, and Mark’s food is excellent. Not sure we’ll make the skittles team though!

Poor attitude towards customers. I went into the cafe and ordered a coffee. Paid for the coffee. Then I was told there is a 15minute wait. Manageress was called over to help with the refund. The girl at the till was nice but the manageress made me feel like it was my fault. They were busy she said. So how I am meant to know that? There were plenty of empty tables and I was the only person at the till! Apparently it is normal to wait 15minutes for your coffee. Really?
