Absolutely wonderful experience, highly recommended. A very nice environment full of history, live piano music, nice food and you also get to drink the famous Bath thermal water. It's also located next to the Cathedral and the Roman Baths. A must if you're visiting the city.

We got the full afternoon tea with the package for the museum after. The tower of snacks and sandwhichs with unlimited tea were great! My favorites were the truffle egg salad sandwhich and the pistachio tart they gave us in the desserts. The scone was good but a bit dry. Tea and cappucino were delicious. The hot spring water tasted dirty and weird but was fun to try lol

On our last full day in Bath, we decided to book our brunch here, partly so we could also get a glimpse of the Roman Baths. We booked the brunch a couple of days before and paid online. We all had the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. As we had not had this sauce before, we asked for it to be put in a pot so we could add it as we wanted it. It was delicious. My mum, who loves poached eggs, couldn't get over how light they felt. We enjoyed listening to the pianist who played a variety of tunes including Your Song. We sat back and enjoyed listening to him. We had a walk over to the fountain to try some of the water and then peered through the window to see the Roman Baths. The service here was brilliant. We would definitely recommend you coming here if you ever visit Bath.

Lovely atmosphere for an afternoon tea. Sipping wine while listening to live music in a room filled with chandeliers and paintings of old rich men truly is an experience. And the tea was great. That being said, I put that I'm a vegetarian on my reservation and mentioned it to my waiter twice. And they still brought out a sandwich with ham and a lobster roll, albeit on a different plate (note that I was alone). The waiter likely just forgot to mention it to the kitchen, but for the price, I feel like those are details you expect to be accounted for. I've had $15 tea in the US where they not only avoided bringing out meat, but also brought out extra vegetarian snacks to replace the meat ones. Note that I still rated this place highly, though. It was all-in-all a great experience with just that one hiccup.

Superb experience! What a treat - I had the vegan brunch. Very fancy and delicate flavours, love the presentation of it. Live music, the pianist played perfectly. Incredibly atmospheric and so much to look at, it was wonderful. I also appreciate the fact that there were very exciting and delicious vegan options available. Great to be kind to animals, the planet and your own body AND have a luxurious experience, without compromising on flavours or presentation. I was told the chocolate cake is vegan too, also very tasty. I could not sing the praises of this place enough. Next time I will remember to bring a bathing suit for the Roman baths, AND I will come looking more smart. Sitting in such a beautiful and grand room is not a place for wearing flip-flops or hiking boots. 🤭

Service: Lack of Sensitivity to the Situation. Not sure whether it was because we were seated near the Cashier’s desk or whether there was a directive from the top to clear plates ASAP, but I just had a disappointing experience at The Pump Room. I was excited to have Afternoon Tea there on our very last day in the UK however in a 50-minute seating we were interrupted at least 6 times. First the Cashier insisted on giving us clean plates, when there was no need. Then the waitress attempted to remove one of my plates. Then the Cashier returned and cleared more plates (this was while we were eating) then she returned and removed the tiered tray that the afternoon tea items were sitting on, placing the plate that had been on the top tier onto the table. Then the waitress returned to ask if she could clear our cups away at the same time asking if we would like more tea. Then another waitress brought the tea. Then the cashier returned yet again at around the 45-minute mark and produced an invoice for the ‘discretionary service charge’ of 12% . Of course I was happy to have more tea when offered and then brought to the table however all the other visits were totally unnecessary. The invoice for the mandatory discretionary charge could have been produced as we were leaving. It wasn’t like the restaurant was busy. My companion and I had travelled half way across the world and our conversation was disrupted every 8 minutes on average. The waitress has a job to do. I’m not sure why the Cashier kept intervening. The food was fine but we weren't allowed to enjoy the atmosphere or the moment.

I recently organised a work dinner at the Pump Rooms and would like to publicly thank the staff of the Pump Rooms for helping to pull it off. The venue catered for circa 165 guests with an initial drinks reception in the Roman Baths before we moved to the Pump Room for the dinner, speeches, and after drinks. Coordinated with the Visit Bath and Searcys teams, the evening went extremely well with numerous guests complimenting the atmosphere, venue, and food. I would like to thank all those involved especially Kizzie and Beth, Rich, and Felix. Oke let’s be honest, you pay for the whole experience and not for the food. the experience was worth all the money, because there is a lot of history going on and the service and ambiance is just amazing. The food was “Mwa”, you get a lobster roll and other food stuff that’s you will not eat every day. But it is not a culinaire journey. So don’t do it for the food, you can find better places in bath for you afternoon tea. You also ask a “doggy bag” This was a gift from my boyfriend and it was a amazing gift. Because the whole experience is mine blowing and we had classical music that I adore. They give you a time slot, but are not strict and a little advice, dress a bit fancy so you don’t feel underdressed and if you don’t care about that? Then you will find plenty of tourist in their day clothes. Oh and if you are a loud girly like me, this is not the place to be with all your loud girlfriends to gossip and laugh your aases off. But a romantic moment with your partner or intimate date with one of your friends it is.

We thought we'd have some tea and cake at the Pump Room Restaurant, AKA, Searcy's. Located in the historic Georgian edifice that make up the Baths, it has been host to historic figures such as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, I managed to control my urge to swing from the chandelier, but instead, sat quietly and listened to the pianist as I tucked into the sadly, average chocolate cake. The teapot afforded Mummy and I just over two cups. Almost empty late morning, it was quiet but lacked atmosphere once the pianist took a break. Staff is friendly and welcomed a talking teddy bear. One can get a nice view of an outdoor bath by taking the hallway opposite the cake cutting tables.

Pretentious B-S. Stay away! We called ahead and they said 2pm looks full, come by at 4 - looks like we should have tables available. So we show up at 3:55, a slightly rude guy directs us to wait outside if we don’t have a reservation and that we’d get a table at 4:20 if tables available. We wait outside coz it looks fairly empty and not much people waiting with reservations. At 4:10 a security shows outside and LOCKS THE DOOR. We ask what’s going on, restaurant looks empty and your staff asked us to wait outside. He says “I don’t know. Manager asked me to lock the door.” So yea, atrocious, 2-3 tables have people, rest of tables empty.

When I had tea at the Pump Room in October 2017, it was a fabulous experience. The room itself is gorgeous, the service was flawless and the food was delicious. I was going to go back in May 2024, but the price had gone up by 60% in 7 years, while inflation should have only increased it by 30%. So, though I'd have probably given it a shot at £34, I decided to give it a miss at £42.50 because I was afraid it might not live up to my previous visit. However, that's not to say I won't change my mind about that when I go back this autumn. Because it really was one of my favorite dining experiences ever, and I'd love to repeat it. The actual menu photo is from 2017, while the menu sign photo is from May 2024.

This is the worst afternoon tea I have ever been to! A waste of my 42£. I've been to tea at the Ritz, Aldwych and Café Royal in London; the Balmoral and the Signet Library in Edinburgh; Gleneagle's in Scotland; even at some small cafes in Glasgow. However, none have been this bad. I was expecting something amazing because of the other reviews, but clearly these other reviewers have no decent comparison points. Probably mostly American tourists (I am also American) visiting England for the first time. Let's start with atmosphere...such a plain and boring room! And the "musician" made me feel more like I was at a funeral than a high tea. Then, the service. The waitress did not seem to understand much of what I said. She asked me if I wanted a tea refill when I was totally done eating and ready to go...I had already been out of tea for a while. Then, I found a HAIR in my clotted cream! When I told her, she just brought me another one. Usually this sort of thing warrants a visit from the manager or something to fix the situation. And now for the food...I've never been to an afternoon tea where the scones were served cold and everything is already plated up and just simply brought over to the table. If you specialize in afternoon tea, I expect my scones to be warm and fresh. Most places even have fresh jam or lemon curd, not a store-bought jar of jam. Then the rest of the food was just subpar. I enjoyed the food I got in several cafes around Bath far more than anything served in this overpriced tea. I sent more than half of the food back to the kitchen and left hungry. Such a disappointment! If you've ever been to a proper afternoon tea, avoid this one because it does not compare at all. I wish I had requested a refund, but I was in a hurry.

The pianist's face dropped when I approached the stage. He must have thought I was going to request "living on a prayer" or something similar, but I explained that I liked a certain "tune". We chatted for a while and when I returned to my seat he played the "tune" without any prior practice. The experience will stay with me for a lifetime. He was superb, so much so that my partner was astounded to see tears were rolling down my face. He played brilliantly and with so much tenderness. Thank you that man!!! The "tune" by the way, was was written specifically for Glynis Johns by Stephen Sondheim. Glynis was not a natural singer so Sondheim built the song around her limited register. Less was definitely more, and the pianist captured even more.

First of all, we paid over £85 for an afternoon tea, and for what we got, 4 basic pea-sized vegetarian sandwiches. The ratatouille mini canapé was so awful, we spat it out. Then at the end, we were told to pay an additional £12 for service charge, bringing the total to nearly £90. I could barely hear the music. I'm really sorry to say, please don’t come here. Go to the tea rooms opposite, and for half the price, you’d get much bigger options and portions. This was honestly a mess.

So if you are prepaying, I recommend ordering the minimum food you expect to have, and certainly don't order the drinks, as they will likely be available on the day. Review: We had a lovely meal. The food was excellent, my English sparkling wine superb, and the ambiance was refined, with a pianist playing classical background music. Service was great. Due to a miscommunication at the start of the meal, there was a bit of an argument at the end about whether we could get a refund on prepaid food and drink that we hadn't had. The pianist in the rear is making the setting complete.A nice starter with a peach bellini to set off with your brunch. Friendly staff and all kinds of people who are coming just to experience this out of curiosity.

My wife and I planned a tea time here as part of our trip to the UK and it was well worth it! She has gluten, fish, and shellfish allergies and they were able to accommodate this to make the tea time a wonderful experience for us both. they had a delicious gluten free selection and we both got the allergen safe options to keep things simple. We had Champagne, Starter, and Tea. It was really neat. They also had live music while we were there so sitting in this historic building right next to the Roman baths and having tea time was a great UK experience. It was fun to dress up and relax with some great food and talk about our trip. I highly recommend!

There is a lot to recommend this historic tea room - the ambience and location are fabulous, being right next door to the Roman Baths. The dining room is beautiful and it's a great treat to have an English afternoon tea listening to classical music being expertly played by three musicians (piano, cello, violin). Everything was delicious and looked amazing. Our only complaint is that we felt rather hurried - plates were whisked away rather rapidly and the bill arrived very promptly (we had paid when we booked but the service charge was additional). Other than that it was a very good experience.

On our 2nd day in Bath, after a tour of the Roman Baths we decided to have high tea in the pump room as a treat. What should have been a wonderful experience was actually an average one. The room ..a beautiful period space is light and high ceilings is bland, lacking colour and decorations. Flowers would make a huge difference...a display in each window. The few anaemic looking "ferns" looked like b&q cast offs! The carpet does nothing for the space...a dreadful bland 1980s corporate pattern, what a shame. No ambience...even the trio that eventually played struggled to lift the atmosphere of people trying to swallow pastries quietly. The tea itself....overall it was nice and value for money. The addition of a layer of savouries added to the cake stand was a lovely touch. Scones still warm, good selection of teas. Disappointing on the alcohol front, the bloody Mary was bland and lacking flavour...this should be easy to make, and pack a punch with pepper and worcestershire sauce (which was lacking) a shot of vodka with tomato juice is not a bloody mary. More thought is needed here, the table quickly becomes cluttered. Overall, if you are here and would like a treat, do come, but also lower your expectations. This place serves good food, but lacks fun and vivacity.

My brother in law and his American fiancée came to visit. My husband booked this as a traditional English thing to do. The food was absolutely amazing. The lady that served us had dirty marks all over her shirt arms and her tie looked like she had eaten her dinner off it. I waited for half hour for a fresh cup for my tea it never came. As mentioned food out of this world but sadly I was put off it by her appearance being dirty.

It was a great experience for a family of 4 adults and 2, 18-year-olds. We made reservations and were quickly seated. The food was great, the tea, coffee, and hot chocolates were delicious. It was a unique experience for everyone and then we had a great tour through the Roman Baths.

We popped in today only intending to having cake and coffee but, it was afternoon tea time and it would have been rude not too treat ourselves. My husband is vegetarian so he got his own selection of savoury and sweet treats. The selection was superb for both of us. We were looked after so well by the young staff, always clearing plates away and enquiring as to whether we wanted our teapots topped up. To add to the special treat there was an excellent pianist playing so relaxing. We finished our excellent visit with two lovely gins and tonic. Definitely worth the cost.

Just incredible ❤️ Had our wedding reception in the Pump Rooms following opera with champagne and canapés around Roman Baths. Food was wonderful, our guests are used to high level of catering and they unanimously sang praises to food, staff and above all Felix. Huge thank you to you all and especially Felix, you have truly anticipated every step and I as a bride was looked after on with the highest standard.

This was a magical experience. The beautiful decor surrounding the room, the large windows, the accompanying music while you dine, all of it. The high tea service was the best we've ever had. Each item was well thought out and perfectly executed. Even their clotted cream was just better. To be having tea where Queen Anne (1688) to Queen Elizabeth have dined and partaken in the special water, was a special feature. It's worth getting a reservation and being part of such a historical site.

I’d taken my Mum to Bath for a girlie weekend. We’d been to The Punp Room some years before and had at that time just walked in and been able to choose from a menu on the day itself. So as not to miss out in case it was busy, I booked online the night before. I was somewhat taken aback to arrive promptly at 10am and to find the place still closed. There were several other people waiting outside in the rain like we were. Also I’d been disappointed to find there were only two options for the 10am sitting, which were scones and cake (why?) or a ‘brunch’ consisting of poached eggs with a choice of topping. I chose spinach and mushrooms and Mum had ham. What was also a shame was that although we’d booked for the earlier sitting, that the pianist didn’t start playing until closer to 10.30. The poached eggs, whilst OK, were almost cold when they arrived and were cooked very soft and runny, which disappointed my Mum and we hadn’t been asked for our preferences either. At best, this was a very mediocre experience and one we shall not be repeating anytime soon. The lack of punctuality, the rigidity of the menu and the lack of ambience was such a shame. Our previous experience had been wonderful with a simple plate of pastries and piping hot coffee, so why the menu has been put together as it is now is bewildering. I hope the welcome and elegance of the catering is soon restored to its former glory.
