Unbelievable food, the best roast dinner I’ve ever had and very generous on the portions, the steak was juicy and high quality. I had the sticky toffee for desert it was one of my favourite deserts I’ve ever had, also lovely service as they were very welcoming and attentive

This is a local we attend every 12 weeks to eat to find that it’s changed owners 8 weeks ago, all I can say that they know what they are doing, the food is amazing Cooked to perfection big portions fantastic child’s meal aswell it was food you would expect from a high expensive posh restaurant it’s worth every penny and we was very highly impressed.. from going every 12 weeks for a meal there we will be definitely doing it even more often now it’s food you would tell others about. And the staff are very welcoming, polite and always on the ball when your glass was empty 😉 if I could give more than 5 stars I would!!

Lovely warm welcome to the restaurant and bar, very clean inside and out. Wood burner and atmosphere seems very relaxed. Food is home cooked, delicious from the first bite to the last. Highly recommend the fish and chips. Will be returning in the future.

I was lucky enough to be treated to a date afternoon with my wife at The Prospect by Nineteen98, she'd spoken very highly of a recent luncheon experience here and I came along with high expectations. I have to say I was not disappointed, we were very warmly welcomed by the team and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The food was cooked to perfection .The ingredients are very good quality with the flavours all perfectly complementing each other.The seasoning is spot on and the presentation is delightful. We were well attended to throughout our meal and the team is polite and professional. The Prospect by Nineteen98 is a hidden gem tucked away out of town, and deserves every success. We look forward to future visits.

Everything about this place is amazing. The food is ridiculously amazing and so full of flavour!! I highly recommend this place for a couple of drinks or for a dining experience with amazing food! Thank you to all of the friendly staff and owners for such wonderful service!

The decor inside was lovely & homely, giving us a good feeling before even sitting down. We were greeted with nice smiles by the lady owner and I think her daughter who took our drinks order ensuring us that our wine choice was a good one because that was her favourite 😃 Then the 4 of us went on to enjoy a delicious evening of lovingly prepared food, we thoroughly enjoyed all of our dishes from starters to desserts. Do not even think of skipping the desserts, they were wonderful surprise, all homemade and individual 😍 Must mention also that my Lamb Loin was just perfect and my husband was more than happy with his steak/ale pie. I happily gave his chunky chips a taste test on more than one occassion and you'll be pleased to know they passed the test, lol Sunday Dinner is next on our list 😋 and if the lamb loin was anything to go by I'm very much looking forward this visit. We'll be bringing my mother in law to this one who believe me, we don't bring out unless we absolutely know she'll be happy 🤣 Lastly, good luck with the building of your new business, you've got off to a great start with bringing back to life this lovingly old pub that is an important part of Halifax's history ❤️

Gorgeous Sunday lunch (again) roast beef for me, venison for hubby.

Called in for lunch today, thoroughly enjoyable food and service was exemplary. Look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Today I took my nan for afternoon tea at The Prospect. She lives near by and we had seen a Groupon offer and some good reviews. What we actually got far surpassed our expectations. I had communicated before hand online and found the communication excellent and prompt. We arrived at 1pm for our booking and was greeted by a very friendly lady ( who later we found to be the owners daughter) she told us to pick a table we would like and came straight away with tea and coffee. She was ever so friendly, and When our afternoon tea arrived it was huge and  could have fed 4! The cakes and scones were lovely and a great choice but the sandwiches!! Wow what a selection. We were offered more tea and coffee throughout our visit and it was nice to see the place looking so clean and tidy. It was warm and welcoming and the owners really are making the best effort to attract customers. Others around us were eating off the regular menu and it looked gorgeous! We can't wait to to back to have a meal. It was a bargain with the Groupon offer but would have been still value for money without it. I almost didn't want to use it because I felt they deserved every penny. We will be back to try the rest of the menu very soon. ( ps don't let the roadworks put you off! There is access in boothtown near range bank which we found better to use actually)

Excellent Food, Excellent value. Excellent Service. What can I say about the Food, probably the best 3x course meal I have had from a Pub. 3 x courses for £14 per person (extra £3 supplement for a mixed Carvery so works out £17 per person). Starter: The Black Pudding and bacon stack, with peppercorn sauce, crispy onions (best starter I have ever had). Main: A Mixed Roast Carvery (Chicken, Beef, Gammon & Roast Pork), Massive Yorkshire puddings & roast vegetables. Desert: Sticky Toffee Pudding & Ice Cream. The New Manager, Waitresses, and other staff where excellent. So much I bought everyone in the kitchen a drink and tipped the waitress both of them separately. PS: Genuine Review from a genuine paying customer (Came father's day 16/06/24 and again 30/06/24).

Went for a private party, decent service, average selection of drinks, didn't try the food, would need to visit again to get a better idea of things

Called in to here last week and wanted to order food, was very disappointed with the service as was told they had no food, the staff dressed as they were on on holiday. Will not be returning at the moment and we ALWAYS GIVE AT LEAST £20 TIP

delivery was super quick and the food was super tasty. The only slight issue I had was the garlic mushrooms weren't garlicky enough. But everything was still excellent and would definitely order here again

I would of given it 5 stars. The only thing that let it down was that I asked for no cheese on the burger. It came with cheese. Quality food otherwise.

Full quality. Can't fault them at all. Friendly Professional staff and great food. Quiet location with plenty of outdoor space. Plus, dog friendly.

The change in the management has affected this place. Food as gone downhill . Wouldn't be going back anytime soon. Diabolical.

The service was equally as good as the food. There were 9 of us having a meal for my nieces 19th birthday and it was enjoyed by all. We can’t wait to get together & visit again. We felt very welcome on our first visit.

Staff really busy as a daytime party on.. still fitted us in and were lovely attentive and kept us upto date with where everything was up to apologising for being busy, yet they were blooming great.

Ordered 3 meals yesterday salt and pepper chicken burger, steak and ale pie and the lasagne and must say they were all amazing 1 of the best lasagna I’ve ever tasted and local too!! Definitely will be back soon 🤤😁

no crusty bread with the garlic mushrooms , 2 tiny pots of cold custard to go with the jam sponge but not worth supplying as on only 3 table spoons in each pot. very disappointing 😞

the pub it nice place to eat but the food came out lukewarm all three plates. the food was good and a plate full but just not hot.

Went here just by chance after seeing it on Google. So glad we did as the food was delicious 😋 we had the rib eye steak, it was cooked just right and the chips were banging (as my kids say! 😀) The pub was cosy and clean and I was able to take my dog in too. Natasha was our waitress/bar person and she was lovely, she took time to chat with us and check everything was ok with our food. Came out feeling pleasently full. Will definitely be back to try other things on their delicious menu. 😀

Came here today for the first time for a Sunday lunch with my family. Overall first impression when we first arrived was very pleasant and lovely atmosphere. We ordered 4 roast beef dinners and all came out, which when arrived were all cold. The waitress asked us if we wanted them warming up to which we said it would be nice to have a hot meal. When they arrived back at the table, it was quite clear they had been microwaved as the Yorkshire pudding was wet and soggy and certain items on the plate were still cold. Only two plates came out at a time so it meant we weren’t all eating together. Although we were reimbursed for two of the dinners it was extremely disappointing to know that the food is quite literally being thrown on to the plate to be microwaved and served.

We haven't eaten here for over 30 years but we came just after Christmas and it was excellent

Dropped in for something to eat because the place we were going to go only opened for food from 5pm . Didn’t have a booking and Lucy made us feel very very welcome. It was an awful day outside , she sat us right by the open fire popped some More logs on and brought our drinks to the table. Brill service. And really couldn’t believe how good the food was. It was very fresh, very tasty and I’d suggest you try the croquettes, excellent. Very good will be visiting again for sure. Thank you Lucy and the team.

A lovely atmosphere for a Christmas lunch with excellent food

Had my daughters 21st there. Staff were brilliant went out of their way to make it such an amazing night. The food was excellent and extremely priced. Highly recommended

First time in coming here as soon as I walked through door I was welcomed in the pub the manager spoke to me introduced herself, Declan asked where I would like to be seated he was gentle spoken and asked if I would like to order drinks brought menu even read the menu out and answered questions about the food. Declan is a well mannered young man who served myself and my grandson throughout the time I was here its a beautiful pub to visit calm music very Christmas with the lights log fire is beautiful. Thank you everyone I will be coming back.

Great food as per usual. Beef baguette with gorgeous gravy / meat juices. Tried the gyozas and thought they might be stodgy but they're anything but ... lovely and crisp and tasty with a dipping sauce (?soy🤔 ... good anyway!). Thanks.

Impressed 👍 is my first impression. I would definitely recommended this place. I hav never been so pleased. The price I paid for what I got was a big thing for me, the beef baguette was the best iv ever had. You won't be disappointed, I'm never eating anywhere else again 😂 I mean it

Staying locally for a couple of days and found The Prospect after looking for good pub food. Very nice clean and friendly atmosphere very good food. Great value for money. Brisket pie was huge but very nice and the tagliatelle was very tasty. Extremely helpful bar staff will definitely visit again when back in the area

Visited here for the first time today for lunch, what a beautiful place and absolutely delicious food, Lucy was a wonderful attentive host. This place has a cosy, friendly, warm atmosphere, the views over Halifax on a non foggy day will be stunning. More people need to visit this hidden gem in Halifax, Can't believe I've not been before, will definitely be back. The cheesy cottage pie croquettes with gravy mayo were an amazing starter as was the sharing camembert with mouth watering crumb top. The beef dripping fish and chips served with a tasty curry mayo and pot of mushy peas rivalled the best seaside fair! All three of us Managed to squeeze in desert and coffee too all fantastic. Thanks again to all @The Prospect, can't wait to visit again and try more dishes from your amazing menu 😊 it all looked and tasted so good I didn't get chance to take any photos, next time x

Had a really nice Sunday lunch at The Prospect. The food was absolutely amazing and arrived on the table in good time. The service was brilliant and the staff courteous and very friendly. This was my first visit to The Prospect and certainly won't be the last. Excellent place to dine!

My first choice was unavailable which was disappointing though my second choice was delicious. We had to wait a considerable time for our meals to be served after ordering. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The pub is very nice and has great views.

Packaging terrible , gravy pots melted so gravy was all over the bag and in the foil of the baguette. Disappointed.

Very was quiet for a Saturday evening. Menu was okay but chips were not cooked thoroughly... Bit d disappointed as have been before and the good was quite good.

Went here for a family meal while some family from a while away were visiting. The food was great (I had scampi), including the Orange Chocolate Cake, which I sadly forgot to photograph. The staff were accommodating and we didn’t need to wait long at all to get our food in front of us. Despite my initial concerns regarding the menu, I found something for me. Will visit again.

Amazing food, we ordered the steak, chicken parmesan with gnocchi and chicken nuggets and chips. Everything delivered. The server was really nice and friendly. Bless them I think they had closed and we didn't realise and they where too friendly to ask us to leave. Really sorry guys ! One thing to note, the parking is on quite a steep hill, made me feel like if there was a stiff wind the car would roll over 😅

Went for a birthday meal (14 off us) and had pre ordered the food beforehand. The food was lovely, dont get me wrong about that. This is the beef sunday lunch. We had orders missing and mixed up . Staff was nice, friendly when we got hold of them. Just don't think they are used to big parties. So, service was slow on that side . Would go again, just not as big group.

We visited for a birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The main courses were fantastic, so tasty and the food came quick. My only criticism was the chocolate brownie that came with ice cream was cold when usually its served warm. We will be back

The wife and I had our tea there. We both had a starter Chicken goujons, the chicken was cooked too perfection, we both truly enjoyed them. My wife had the fish and chips which she said was beautiful. I had the home baked baguette filled with brisket, excellent the service was first class, we both highly recommend you try thier restaurant "pub" for a first class meal and a drink in this quaint pub 👍😊

Ordered the Prospect Burger - very disappointed with the quality. It was barely warm when it arrived, the burger was not what I'd expect for the price - not home made and definitely not quality product. Also there were no onion rings. It's almost as though you hadn't expected any orders that night and just threw together what you had. Oddly you've been off platform since (April) so I couldn't review immediately. Hopefully your general food quality has improved. Otherwise, stick to your Sunday roasts - they're fab!

Halifax your lucky to have this lovely pub , amazing food , great atmosphere and brilliant host's and staff. Wonderful views also of the Town , would highly recommend a visit. Please note the pub now has new tenants since the end of April 2023

First time we have visited the Prospect and all I can say is wow, wow, wow. From the moment we entered the door the Landlady was so attentive. Amazing service! The food was exceptional. We had the Chorizo & Nduja Sauage Roll and baked feta for starter, the crusted chicken special and hot crust steak and red wine pie. It was honestly superb. I will attach pictures and the bill. Overall, it's the best food and service in the area. Thank you.

Lovely food apart from the gravy being quite cold, and a few service issues but overall very tasty and reasonable!

Smaller delivery boxes for smaller portions maybe so food doesn't spread and slop about.

Lovely staff and food, but unfortunately for all that great pub food there's not a good pub ale or craft beer to accompany it! Recommended if you're not an ale or craft beer type.

Called in for tea with my partner, the food was amazing! Great portion sizes, arrived steaming hot, tasted divine and at a really good price. One of my new favourite places to eat!

Went for the 2 for 1 dining. I had the vegetable tart which was disappointing, the pastry top was undercooked & the base was rock hard. The filling was delicious so not all bad! Staff were very pleasant & helpful
